2 INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE/SETTINGS ON/OFF/MODE Switch the Lite-Com Pro II on and off by pressing and holding the ON/OFF/MODE button for approximately two seconds. A voice message confirms that the unit has been switched on or off. A slowly flashing LED on the button shows that the Lite-Com Pro II is switched on. When the unit is transmitting or receiving, the LED flashes faster. Press ON/OFF/MODE () briefly to move through the menu. Press the button slowly, one step at a time, to confirm each step in a voice message. If you press the button faster, you will only receive voice confirmation of the function where you stop. Current settings are stored when the unit is switched off. SURROUND (ambient sound level) When the Lite-Com Pro II is used as an active hearing protector, the amplification of ambient sound is adjusted by pressing the UP
(+) and DOWN () buttons. The change is confirmed with a voice message. There are normally 5 sound levels and an off mode. On level 5 the maximum sound pressure is reduced to approximately 82 dB, which allows a maximum exposure time of 8 hours to protect damaging your hearing. Amplification of ambient sound can also be switched off by reducing the volume to its lowest position using the DOWN () button and holding the button for about two seconds. A voice message surround off confirms that the function has been switched off. WARNING! When this function is switched off the ambient sound may become inaudible by the hearing protector! To re-activate the function, press UP (+) and the Lite-Com Pro II again works as an active hearing protector that limits the sound level. Note: With special software there is a possibility to further increase the amplification of the ambient sound. Two more sound levels can be added, where level 6 is approximately 87 dB and level 7 is approximately 89 dB. WARNING! The exposure time should be reduced accordingly to protect damaging your hearing!
VOLUME Use the UP (+) and DOWN () buttons to set the incoming volume from the built-in communication radio. A voice message confirms the new setting each time you press the button. There are normally 5 volume steps and an off mode. To access off mode, press and hold the DOWN () button for two seconds when at the lowest volume. A voice message confirms volume off. WARNING! No radio communication is audible in the off mode. To switch the radio back on, press the UP (+) button. You start receiving at the lowest volume level. Note: With special software there is a possibility to further increase the amplification of the volume. Two more sound levels can be added, where level 6 is approximately 87 dB and level 7 is approximately 89 dB. WARNING! The exposure time should be reduced accordingly to protect damaging your hearing!
CHANNEL Use the UP (+) and DOWN () buttons to select a channel (radio frequency) for the communication radio. A voice message confirms the new setting each time you press the button. VOX (Voice-operated transmission) VOX means that the Lite-Com radio transmits when sounds of a certain volume reach the microphone hands-free transmission. Use the UP (+) and DOWN () buttons to set the sensitivity for voice-operated transmission. A voice message confirms the new setting each time you press the button. There are five VOX levels and an off mode. To access off mode, press and hold the DOWN () button for two seconds. A voice message confirms volume off. If you want to transmit, you must use the PTT button. To switch VOX on again, press the UP (+) button. NOTICE! For maximum noise cancelling, the speech microphone of the headset should be positioned very close to your mouth (3 - 5 mm)!
The use of a wind shield is also recommended (see ACCESSORIES AND SPARE PARTS below). SQUELCH (hiss reduction) Squelch means that the background hiss in the earphones is prevented when the incoming signal is below a set level. When someone speaks, the amplification returns instantly to the selected level. 3 Use the UP (+) and DOWN () buttons to set the squelch level. A voice message confirms the new setting each time you press the button. There are five squelch levels and an off mode. Level 1 is most sensitive and opens the receiver at the lowest incoming signal. To access off mode, press and hold the DOWN () button for two seconds in volume step one. A voice message confirms squelch off. To switch squelch on again, press the UP (+) button. SELECTIVE SQUELCH (Sub tones) Selective squelch means that a certain tone or code must be transmitted along with the speech in order to open the receiver. This allows multiple groups of users to use the same channel without listening to the other groups. Notice! Any other radio communication, which does not include the selected tone or code, will be blocked by the filter!
Use the UP (+) and DOWN () buttons to set the programmed sub-tone. A voice message confirms the new setting each time you press the button. If the function is switched to OFF, all communication on the channel can be monitored. When BCLO or BTLO (busy channel or tone lockout) is enabled, VOX operation is not possible if the channel is already in use. A warning tone may be heard in the speaker, when BCLO or BTLO is active (This function can be disabled). This prevents unwanted interference with other muted communication on the actual channel. POWER (output) There are three output power levels: High, medium and low. Use the UP (+) and DOWN () buttons to select the output power level. A voice message confirms the new setting each time you press the button. Medium power is recommend, where possible. NOTICE: The operating time depends to a great extent on the condition of the ACK08 and how the Lite-Com Pro II is used. PTT (Push-to-talk) Press PTT to transmit manually using the Lite-Com Pro II radio. Notes:
1. 2. Switch voice control (VOX) on and off by pressing the button briefly twice. A voice message, VOX on or VOX off confirms the setting. The Lite-Com Pro II has BCLO and BTLO (busy channel and busy tone lockout) to block transmissions on busy channels. See above Selective squelch. ASSEMBLY / CONFIGURATION BATTERIES Notice! When using the Lite-Com Pro II in environments with a risk for explosions, 3M Peltor ACK08 must be used!
Never change or charge ACK08 in an explosive environment!
Only the 3M Peltor ACK08 batteries are currently approved for use with the Peltor Lite-Com Pro II in explosive environments:
The Peltor ACK08 Li-Ion rechargeable battery should be charged with a Peltor FR08 / AL2AH only. One unit of each is included with the product. Never change or charge ACK08 in an explosive environment!
ASSEMBLY Headband (Fig. J) 1. Slide the cups out and place the headset over your ears so that the ear cushions fit snugly. 2. Adjust the height of the cups to a snug, comfortable fit by sliding the cup up or down while pressing the headband down. 3. The headband should lie across the top of the head. Helmet attachment (Fig. K) Snap the helmet attachment into the slot on the helmet (1). The cups can be set in two positions: Ventilation position (2) or working position (3). When in use, the cups must be placed in working position!
Press the headband wires inwards until you hear a click on both sides and ensure that the shell or the headband wires do not press against the lining or edge of the helmet, which could cause noise leakage. 4 Notice! Never place ear muffs with humid foam on the helmet / hardhat! (4) Notice!
100% use of a proper hearing protector is the only sure protection from hearing loss. In environments with more than 82 dB A-weighted noise level, you need to protect your hearing. The hearing receptors in your inner-
ears may be irreparably damaged if you lift a cup of your hearing protectors for even a very short moment in a noisy environment. The use of a comfortable hearing protector, designed for the specific noise level in which it is used, is the best guarantee to that you will wear the hearing protector 100% of the time for to protect from permanent hearing loss. For best protection, brush aside excess hair around your ears so the cushions fit snugly to your head. Any temples/bands of spectacles or goggles should be as thin as possible to make the hearing protector fit close to the head. MAINTENANCE Clean the outside of the headset regularly with mild detergent and warm water. Notice! Do not immerse in water or fluids. After prolonged hours of use, or other situations in which the Lite-Com Pro II attracts moisture inside the cups, remove the cushions and inserts to allow the hearing protector to dry before next use. Do not store the headset in temperatures exceeding +55C, for example on a dashboard or windowsill. The headset (especially the ear cushions) can wear out over time. Inspect regularly for signs of any physical damage and replace if necessary. Certain chemical substances may be harmful to this product. Contact 3M for more information. When the low battery warning alarm sounds, it is time to replace the batteries. The unit switches off automatically after a few minutes. Never replace or install batteries with the unit switched on. Before switching on, make sure that the batteries are inserted correctly. As with any hearing protector incorrect use or failure to the instructions supplied with this product could result in permanent disability due to exposure to noise.
