* Plug the second AC adapter into Child Untt charging stand, place Child Unit In charging stand, and charge for 10 hours. Red charging light will be on when unit is charging. Child Unit should work for 14-16 hours before having to be re-charged. * Insert the AC adapter plug into the jack on the back of the Parent Unit, and then plug the adapter into an electrical outlet. Childs Unit The Child Unit can be attached to your childs crib or other fumishing where your child may fall asleep. It can also be used ona nightstand or table next to your child. Before attaching Child Unit, it must be fully charged. CN WARNING:
Only attach Child Unit to crib or other furnishing when not using AC adapter. Attachable/Portable Mode Charge the batteries: Batteries must be fully charged for optimum performance. You can expect charged batteries to last 14-16 hours before needing to recharge. INITIAL CHARGE 10 HOURS Insert the AC adapter into Child Unit charging stand, then plug the adapter into an electrical outlet.
* Place Child Unit in charging stand. Red charging light on charging stand will come on indicating that the Child Unit has been correctly placed in stand and is now charging. Allow batteries to charge for about 10 hours. The red charging light on charging stand will turn green to indicate that Child Unitis fully charged. NOTE: You can use the monitor in the charging stand while the child unit is being charged or it can be charged with the unit off. IMPORTANT: Child Unit may not charge if charging contacts are not clean (see Troubleshooting). Non-Portable Mode
{fyou do not wish to attach the Child Unit, simply plug the second AC adapter into Child Unit charging stand, place Child Unit in charging stand, and press ON/OFF button to turn the Child Unit ON. To use with batteries:
* Using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew battery compartment cover located at the base of the Parent Unit.
* Press on the indented finger grip to release, then slide and lift the battery compartment cover.
* Insert 4 AAA batteries. Position them on top of the battery removal tab and so the
~ and + contacts are aligned with the corresponding contacts on the battery clip. Replace the battery compartment cover and slide it until it clicks into place, then tighten screw. Always use the AC adapter(s) supplied with this product. Do not use any other adapter. Monitor could be damaged, and warranty could become void. POMC Ty icy NOTE: Batteries must be fully charged in Childs Unit for portable use, 1. Turn Child Unit ON, 2. Select channel A or B on the Childs Unit by sliding the channel switch. 3. Then turn the Parents Unit on by pressing the ON/OFF button. 4. Set the Parents Unit to the SAME channel as the Child Unit by pressing either the A or B channel button. For the monitor to work properly, both units must be set to the same channel. 5. Decide whether or not you wish to attach the Child Unit to your babys crib or other furnishing in which your baby is sleeping. To attach the Child Unit for 14-16 hours of battery usage, simply:

The range of the monitor will vary with the surroundings. You may want to test its workable range by walking through your house and yard and listening for the volume and clarity of the sounds being trans-mitted. If you travel too far with the monitor, you will hear a warning beep indicating you are out of range. Changing Channels:
Always keep both units set to the same channel (both on A or both on B). If you experience interference or static with one channel, switch to the other. Loss of Battery Power in Parent Unit:
if batteries in Parents Unit are running low on power, the low battery indicator light on the Parents Unit will turn red. Loss of Battery Power in Child Unit:
if Child Unit batteries lose their charge, the low battery indicator will beep on the Parent Unit (its the same sound you'll hear if you travel out of range.) This allows all information that the parent needs to know regarding battery life, range, and monitoring to be transmitted to the Parent Unit. This provides additional peace of mind that the monitor is in working order. Recharging Batteries:
The Parent Unit beeps to alert you when the Child Unit batteries are getting low. When you hear the beep, its best to begin recharging the Child Unit immediately. To recharge, follow the steps in To Set Up Childs Unit. Replacing Batteries (Child Unit):
The batteries need to be replaced when the battery unit will not hold a charge (power indicator light stays RED after an extended period of time), or will hold a charge for only a brief period of time (ess than one hour). The supplied battery pack should last hundreds of hours of operation. When battery pack needs replacing, contact The First Years Parent Service Center at 1-800-533-6708. Do not attempt to rewire unit with non-rechargeable batteries. 1. Open the battery door by unscrewing the two screws on the bottom of the Child's Unit. 2. Remove the old battery pack and disconnect from lead wires by gently separating connector as shown. Place the new battery pack in the QIc>
compartment and reconnect lead wired. : :
3. Then place the battery leads and connector inside compartment; otherwise the leads may be damaged when closing the cover. 4. Close the cover making sure it seats into place. Taking care not to disrupt rubber Se gasket, replace the screws. Replacing Batteries (Parent Unit):
