(under base) Ear air vents Detachable arms Speaker Rotating base with side charging port MOXIE USER GUIDE | 2 Lets Get Started 1. First, turn on Moxie using the on/off switch under Moxies base. Then, plug in your Moxie. The power adapter plugs into the side of Moxies base. 2. While Moxie is booting up, download the Embodied Moxie Parent App from the Apple App store or Google Play. 3. Open the downloaded app and follow the setup instructions. When entering your wifi information, please note that both the network name and password are case sensitive. 4. During the setup process, a QR code will appear. You will need to use that QR code to pair with Moxie, and you may need to adjust the brightness on your device for successful pairing. 5. Once Moxie is paired, your robot may download an over-the-air update to bring Moxie to the newest software. This may take 30 or more minutes. Note: To understand the different icons that appear on Moxies screen during the setup process, please refer to the icon key on our site: embodied.com/icon-key. 6. When pairing and downloading is complete, dream bubbles will appear on Moxies face, and your little robot is ready for paly!

mans. As Moxies human mentor, your child will be helping Moxie to accom-
plish that goal through:

To make sure you Moxie works as designed, place your robot:
On a flat surface with your child sitting at eye level In a quiet, well-lit room A few feet away from any walls BEFORE YOU BEGIN Review the materials that shipped with Moxie, including the special Mission Book, comics, and Project Moxie mentor card. These materials will introduce the humans and robots at the Global Robotics Laboratory and shine a light into the world your child is about to enter. A PL ACE FOR PARENTS During your childs journey with Moxie, use the Embodied Moxie Parent App to access progress reports and insights into your childs cognitive, social, and emotional development. You can also use the app to control a variety of set-
tings such as volume and sleep mode. MOXIE USER GUIDE | 4 Playing with Moxie When the dream bubbles move across Moxies face, your robot is ready for play. To have the best possible interaction, your child should:
Sit from one to three feet away from Moxie Be eye level with Moxie Speak clearly and at a reasonable volume Limit any other voices speaking in the room MOXIE PHR ASES & COMMANDS Once settled in front of Moxie, if the screen is dark and the light bar is lavender in color, your child can say Hello Moxie! to bring up the dream bubbles on Moxies face. When dream bubbles are on Moxies face, to beging play your child can say Moxie, please wake up!
Once awake, Moxie will take the lead on your childs journey, intiating conver-
sation and learning from your child. While interacting with Moxie, your child can also use these phrases to guide Moxie:

Try turning Moxie off and on again MOXIE USER GUIDE | 6 Caring for Moxie Keep the original shipping box and packaging for safe transportation of Moxie. Do not place stickers or draw on Moxie. Doing so may impact your warranty
(or security deposit if applicable) Moxies arms are detachable and can be clicked right back in by lining up the pins and inserting the arm until you hear a click. We do not advise intentionally detaching the arm. If Moxie is picked up or tipped over, the motors will stop, and will resume when Moxie is placed upright on a flat surface. SAFET Y & HANDLING WARNING: CHOKING HAZARD. Small parts. Not for children under 3 years. Moxie has small parts inside its shell, which ma present a choking hazard to small children and pets. Keep Moxie and its accessories away from children under 3 years. CAUTION: ELECTRONIC PRODUCT. Not recommended for children under 5 years of age. As with all electric products, precautions should be observed during handling and use to precent electric shock. THE AC ADAPTER IS NOT A TOY and should only be operated by an adult. To avoid potential fire hazard that could cause personal injury or damage to Moxie, turn off the power immediately if you smell smoke or detext any signs that Moxie or the AC adapter are burning. MOXIE USER GUIDE | 7 DO NOT DO ANY OF THE FOLLOWING: drop, tip, or push over Moxie;
disassemble or modify Moxie; subject Moxie to extremely high or low temperatures; use tape, stickers, or other objects to cover the camera lens, the ear-shaped air vents, or the microphones on Moxies head; use anything the could restrict any of Moxies parts; use Moxie outdoors; allow Moxie to get wet; operate Moxie on an unstable surface. Moxie conforms to the safety standards of ASTM F963-17. CLE ANING Use a soft, dry cloth to clean Moxie Never use any chemical, detergent, or abrasive cleaning agents to clean Moxie, as they may cause damage Make sure the camera lens above Moxies head is kept clean and unscratched so as to ensure Moxie can see and function properly. Avoid using paper towel or other rough cloth to avoid scratching the camera lens. AC ADAP TER Do not connect the AC adapter to electronic transformers, otherwise overheating may occur that could damage Moxie and potentially create a fire hazard.
