More information, FAQs and customer service .............................................................................. 5 Car Health Notes for users The Allstate Dongle is your access to the on-board diagnostics (OBD) system of your car. The plug reads the signals from the car and sends them to your smartphone via Bluetooth. The associated app analyzes the data and provides you with useful information as a driver:
Car diagnostics when starting the trip with a detailed error description Reminders about all important service appointments Guide to the vehicle location Trip duration, distance, speed and consumption values Automatically managed driver's log book with all important information 1. Download the app The free smartphone app for the Allstate Dongle is available in the App Store from Apple and from Google Play. Install the Car Health app on your smartphone and activate both "Mobile Data" as well as
"Bluetooth" in your smartphone's settings. (The application sends and receives data via the mobile Internet while using Allstate Connect. This affects the data volume available according to your cell service plan). 2. Register or log in As an Allstate user, easily log in with your username and password. If you do not yet have an account, you can register now via the app. 3. Activate Allstate Dongle Enter the PIN named on the Allstate Dongle in the input field of the app. Then insert the Allstate Dongle into the OBD2 socket of your car and start the ignition to provide a power supply. Now the devices need to be "coupled" via Bluetooth. In the list of the displayed Bluetooth devices, select the "Allstate Dongle." Then your smartphone automatically connects with the on-board diagnostics system of your car via the Allstate Dongle. Indicator light The green indicator light informs you of the connection status of the Allstate Dongle: A slow flashing indicates that the device is already ready for the Bluetooth connection. Continuous illumination indicates that the pairing has been established. A quick flashing of the indicator light signals pairing problems. In this case, pull the Allstate Dongle out of the socket, reinsert it and begin the coupling again. 4. Your car The Allstate Dongle will now communicate with the OBD2 system for the first time. The following message will appear in app after a short time: "Car detected." In individual cases, additional details are to be specified that, for example, are found in the vehicle registration certificate. In the event that you are then asked by the app, you will find the so-called "engine code" on the nameplate in the engine compartment, in the original service manual or directly on the engine block. 5. App functions Car diagnostics If the ignition is on, the car diagnostics will begin shortly thereafter. The app checks all safety-related functions and values of your car. In the event of a problem, the corresponding error code is displayed including an indication of the urgency. Tap the error message for a more detailed explanation. Live monitor The live monitor shows you the following information for any trip with Allstate Connect: previous trip duration, distance, average and maximum speed. Provided the diagnostic system has information available regarding the tank fill level or current consumption, the app also calculates the consumption costs (based on an average fuel price). The recorded values are then transferred into the driver's log book at the end of the trip. Driver's log book Summary The map overview shows you where you have parked your car during the last trip with the Allstate Dongle and guides you to this parking space. The driver's log book records all of the routes driven with the Allstate Dongle, including the mileage. Your car trips are arranged according to days, months and years. You receive an automatic calculation of the total figures for the trips of a day or month by "folding" the corresponding time period with the black arrow. You can set the purpose of a trip (commute to work, business trip, private) by swiping from right to left over the trip entry in question. To delete a trip, swipe from left to right over the entry. You can enter information about trips at any time without the Allstate Dongle and app. Trip details The trip details page contains all information about a trip: Duration, distance, average and maximum speed, the average consumption as well as the calculated fuel costs (vehicle-dependent function). There are also the GPS position and the mileage at the start and end of the trip. The detailed view shows the entire route on a map. Color markings indicate where you progressed speedily (green) and where the traffic was slow (red). In order to access a larger map view with the zoom function, simply tap the map. You can enter a name and note to each individual trip and specify the purpose of the trip. More... You will find your profile and all settings in this area. Garage Car Health can be used with up to five vehicles. Your cars are in the "garage" of the app (under
"Profile and Settings"). You can enter details about each car at any time and anywhere. For the initial activation, however, it is necessary for you to sit in the respective car with the plugged in Allstate Dongle and the app on your smartphone. 6. App settings Privacy Policy Here you will find the settings for all app functions that refer to locating and recording. Driver's log book Here you can determine which information should be recorded by the app. Would you like to record all of your trips in principle? Should the starting and ending position, route course, speed and consumption be saved?
Live monitor You can determine here what the app shows to you during the trip. Would you generally like to use the live monitor? Should speed and consumption be displayed continuously?
Software and Service System check If Car Health is not working flawlessly, you can check the app and connector for errors here. You can send the report directly to the Allstate customer service department. Please note that the vehicle identification number (VIN) of your car is sent as well for this purpose. Software update If a new version of the operating software is available, you will find it in the app under this item. To perform an update, the device must be in the OBD2 socket and powered on (ignition on). The smartphone must have an Internet connection and the app must be connected to the Allstate Dongle via Bluetooth. Profile and personal settings In this area, you can change your username, e-mail address and password as well as log out of the app. 7. Trip interruption and trip end The recording of your trip ends automatically when you turn off the engine. (This may take some time in individual cases). For a trip interruption of up to two hours, you can specify in the app that you would like to "continue your trip."
After the end of the trip, plug the Allstate Dongle into the OBD2 socket. The device automatically goes into idle mode, at the latest when you lock the doors. It is only useful to unplug the Allstate Dongle for longer downtimes. In this way, you ensure that the minimum power consumption in idle mode does not lead to a discharge of the car battery. 8.
