Flexi Multiradio BTS GSM/EDGE Stack, Wall, and Pole Quick Guide This guide can be used as quick reference for Flexi Multiradio BTS GSM/EDGE installation. Flexi Multiradio BTS GSM/EDGE is a modular base station for GSM/EDGE capacity and coverage. It can be installed stacked on the floor, or mounted on the wall or on the pole. This quick guide is for basic stack, wall and pole configurations with 48V DC input power. The basic installation consists of one System Module (ESMB/C) and one RF Module (Fxxx) allowing 1+1+1 up to 6+6+6 configurations depending on the TRX output power. For all other installation options, see the user manuals. Always switch off the laser before detaching the optical fibre from the connector. Caution Incorrect cables and seals may not provide secured environmental protection. Use only tested IP65 class cables with seals provided by Nokia Siemens Networks. Store all unused seals for later use. Electrostatic discharge (ESD) may damage the modules. Wear an ESD wrist strap or use a corresponding method when handling the modules. The rear stopper is fragile. Do not attempt to lift the plinth using the rear stopper. If water leaks into the outdoor mechanics, the transmission equipment may fail. To help prevent water leakage, feed the cables through the bottom cable entries in wall and pole mounting, and through the bottom cable entry holes in stack installation. Risk of damage to equipment. Attach the mounting bracket screws (M10) on the bracket. Tighten screws to 30 Nm. 2. Fix one side of the lower pole mounting bracket on the plinth with mounting screws (M8). Tighten screws to 20 Nm. 3. Lift the plinth on the pole and fit it to the mounting screws of the pole mounting bracket. Tighten screws

(M8) to 20 Nm. 4. Place the counterpart of the lower pole mounting bracket in its place. Tighten screws (M10) to 30 Nm. 5. If a second plinth is required, install it on the other side of the pole mounting bracket. 6. Ground the plinth to the site main ground. Note that the length of mounting screws depends on the diameter of the pole. Please see the user manual for details. Check list Plinth is installed according to instructions. Plinth is level. 4 Grounding the plinth Grounding principle 1. Ground the plinth to the site main ground. Tighten to 8.0-10.0 Nm (5.9-7.37 ft-lb) 2. The casings are pre-installed with back covers. In Earthquake Zone 4, the maximum number of modules for stack installations is five. In Earthquake Zone 4, install side fixing plates on the casings. In Earthquake Zone 2, the maximum allowed height for a stack is 22U. In pole and wall installations, the maximum modules per plinth is two. In pole and wall installations, maintenance straps must be installed in the casings. M5 X 8 screws should be secured with thread locking compound in pole and wall installations Check list Side fixing plates for Earthquake Zone 4 1. Align the holes of the first casing bottom with the fixing studs on the plinth 2. Push the casing back until it stops. 3. Attach the casing to the plinth with M5 X 8 mm screws (6150279). Tighten to 3.5-4.2 Nm

Tighten to 2.7-3.3 Nm (1.99-2.43 ft-Ib). 4. Install the cable entries on both casings with M5 X 10 mm screws (6150240). Torque 3.5 to 4.2 Nm. Note: In pole and wall installations, install the maintenance strap for back covers. Check list Module back covers and cable entries are installed. Screws are tightened to the specified torque value. Note: In pole and wall installations, screws are secured with thread locking compound.

Remove the black rubber boots, nuts, washers and cable lugs from the terminals. 3. Strip about 2 cm (.8 in) of insulation from the (+) and (-) DC cables. 4 4. Insert the stripped end of each cable into a cable lug and crimp. 5. Pull each cable through a rubber boot. 6a.Connect the (-) crimped wire to the

(-) connector pole, insert washer, and tighten the nut. Connect the (+) crimped wire to the (+) connector pole, insert washer, and tighten the nut. 6b.Torque the M10 nuts (max 14 Nm). 7. Pull the black rubber boots over the lugs. 7 8 8. Route the cable through the external cable entry. 9 9. Route the power cables through the cable clamp, attach and tighten the cable clamp screws with a T10 TORX screwdriver. Internal power cables 1. Remove the connector seal on the module to uncover the connector. 2. Connect the cable to the System Module. 3. Push the connector seal firmly in place. 4. Connect the other end of the internal power cable to the RF Module. Push the cable connector seal firmly in place. Antenna cabling 1 2 3 Transmission cables 2 4 5 3 Optical cabling 1. Remove seals from the antenna connectors. Store the connector seals for later use. 2. Connect the cable to the antenna connectors. 3. Route the antenna cables through the cable entry. 4. Tighten the connector with a torque wrench set to 25 Nm. 5. Repeat the previous steps for all antenna cables required for your configuration. 1. Remove the connector seal(s) from the connector. 2. Route the cable through the cable entry. 3. Pull back the connector seal covering the cable (Flexbus connector excluded). 4. Connect the cable to the appropriate connector. 5. Push the cable connector seal firmly in place. 6. Repeat the previous steps for all cables. 7. Make sure the that all the connector seals are properly installed. 4 7 8 1 2 Caution: Overbending optical fiber cables damages the cables and can detach or damage the connectors. Do not bend optical fiber cables to a radius smaller than the minimum radius of 70 mm (3 inches). Left side

1. Remove connector seal from OPT1 connector in ESMB/C. 2. Remove protective cap from optical transceiver and insert it into OPT1 in ESMB/C. 3. Route optical cable through cable entry. 4. Uncover the connector. Pull back the optical cable connector seal to uncover the connector. 5. Remove protective plugs. 6. Clean connectors with 99% alcohol and swabs. 7. Connect optical cable to optical transceiver in ESMB/C. 8. Push connector seal firmly. 9. Repeat steps 1-8 to connect optical transceiver and optical cable to OPT1 of FXxx. 10.Ensure all connector seals are properly installed. Check list DC power cables are connected and the cable clamp is in place. Connector seals are firmly in place. All cables are connected according to the configuration. BTS external cables or cables between the modules on different plinths are routed via cable entries. Connector seals are firmly in place. To avoid cabling rework, check that the unit powers on before tying down the cables. 9 Powering up and commissioning the BTS 1. Power up the site and check the LEDs. 2. Commission the BTS. Note: For commissioning the BTS, see Commissioning Flexi Multiradio BTS GSM/EDGE document and Quick Guide for Flexi Multiradio BTS GSM/EDGE Commissioning 10 Installing module front covers Maintenence strap Module front covers 1 1 1 2 3 1. Fix the maintenance strap. (Pole or wall only) Attach the first and second snap hooks of the maintenance strap to the front cover. Attach the third snap hook of the maintenance strap to the external cable entry. 2. Place the cover on top of the module front panel. 3. Fix the screws. Tighten the screws to 2.0 - 2.5 Nm (1.5-1.8 ft-Ib) Check list Module front panel covers are installed. 11 Removing modules with the pull-out tool

carry it with the pull-out tool. Do not completely remove the module or Pull-out tool 1. Remove the front covers and cable entries. 4 2. Remove the module screws. 3. Hook the pull-out tool through the hole in front of the module. 4. Pull until the unit comes loose. Installation check list Perform these checks to make sure that the installation is complete:

Delivery is complete and undamaged. Site meets the minimum clearances. Plinth is installed according to the instructions. Plinth is grounded. Modules are installed according to the instructions. One module per casing is grounded to the plinth. External power cables are connected. Internal power cables are connected. Optical cables are connected. Antenna jumper cables are connected. Transmission cables and sub-modules are connected. BTS external cables or cables between the modules on different plinths are routed via cable entries. All boots and caps are properly connected and IP-sealed. Screws are tightened to the specified torque value. Note: In pole and wall installations, screws are secured with thread locking compound. Only IP65 class cables with seals provided by Nokia Siemens Networks are used. BTS is switched on and all units are ready. Module front covers are installed. Site is clean and installation completed. Optional cables (EAC, Synchronization, Site support interface, FPA interface, LMP cables, RF cables) are connected.
