Unit produces A3 emission and therefore effective April 23, 1973, is not considered to be an emergency locator transmitter (ELT) as defined by Section 87.5 of the FCC Rules. Type acceptance is limited to use in the Aviation Services under Part 87, by survival craft stations and for survival purposes. When installed or carried for survival purposes (as an ELT), these units will be licensed only in conjunction with another VHF radiotelephone transmitter in an aircraft station. Unit meets the bandwidth and modulation requirements of Sections 87.67(b)(1) and 87.73(h) respectively, of the FCC Rules, for operation with swept tone, A9 emission. Also see Sections 87.183(f) and (1) of the FCC Rules. No determination has been made by the FCC as to the capability of this transmitter to meet other than FCC requirements. Users should check with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to determine compliance with any applicable FAA requirements.
