Markers Multi Color Markers Crayola Brand Close-Up Case - Close-up case for 3 markers (optional) Transmitters Five custom-made mag tags Receiver ProMystic modular receiver (optional) Magnet Neo Magnet for the pencil cup (please see WARNINGS) Pencil Cup Pencil cup for holding the Markers during performance Batteries:
- for receiver (2): CR2032
- for transmitters (1 each): CR1225 or BR1225 Color Match is Built with Quality to Last a Lifetime www.promystic.com The Receiver How to turn it on and off Slide the on/off switch. (See photo, below left.) When you switch the receiver on, it will vibrate for one second, letting you know it is activated. It does not vibrate when you switch it off. How to install batteries The receiver comes with two CR2032 batteries already installed. When the batteries are drained, the receiver will give one long, weak buzz, or just stop working. Youll notice that the range also decreases when the battery is low. To install new batteries:
Remove the old battery by pushing it out of the battery holder with a non-
metallic object a toothpick, pencil, or corner of a credit card. Look for the + indicator on the battery, and hold it with that side toward you. Slide it into the battery holder. (See photo, below right.) Battery tips Good batteries will give you about 20 hours of active performance time. I recommend Panasonic, Sony, Energizer, or Renata. You can buy them online for less than $1 apiece. I get my batteries at www.digikey.com. Keep new batteries on hand, storing them so they dont contact each other or other metal. You should keep the receiver off when youre not using it, or the battery will drain. You do not need to remove the batteries. If youre performing for more than an hour, keep the receiver turned off as much as possible. Leaving it on for hours drains the batteries quickly. Using it for ten minutes at a time will give you much better battery life, because this allows the lithium batteries to recover from the load. Color Match -- 2 Theory of Operation Color Match Color Match is performed by using five ProMystic Mag Tags installed into the markers. When the markers are placed on a magnetic base, like the one installed in a pen cup or the close-up marker holder, the tag will send the number of the tag one time. You will receive the signal once. The receiver will repeat the number of the tag once, after it is placed on the magnet. The tag will then send signals when removed from the magnet, like when it is removed from the pen cup or close-up marker holder. Default signal repeats for tags:
Tag #
1 2 3 4 5 Place tag on Magnet 1 1 1 1 1 Removed tag from Magnet 4 4 3 3 3 Programming Tags ProMystic strives to make our systems as flexible as possible without sacrificing ease of use and reliability. The tags can be programmed at the ProMystic shop to suit your performance needs. This includes setting them to a custom frequency or simply changing the number of signals sent by the tags when removed from a magnet. Battery Life The power conservation technology used in these tags is very advanced. Each tag is running several hundred lines of software to monitor the environment while in a very low power sleep state. The tags are always off unless they detect a change in magnetic field. They monitor this from a very low power state. Once detected, they determine what to do. The best part is that the batteries will literally last more than 6 months and you will never have to turn them on or off. You can just put them in the pencil cup or close-up marker holder and you are ready to go. They are actually designed to last much more than six months, so please dont change them for a long time. Color Match -- 3 Setting Up the Markers The Tags It is very important you follow these steps to protect your tags. WARNING! The ink in the markers is HIGHLY CORROSIVE! Dont let the size of the tags fool you, they are quite complex both in design and environmental function. The tags have been specially engineered to prevent corrosion from nearly all chemicals, including acids, salts and other penetrating substances. The number marking on the tags may wear off as the ink pens cannot penetrate the plastic coating to adhere. The Markers The markers are really easy to set up. First you must install the batteries in the tags. The tags should then be protected from the marker ink by wrapping them in plastic wrap and a small piece of tape, or by using Glad Press'n Seal plastic wrap as shown in the video. Next, remove the bottom from the marker to access the ink cartridge. Take the sealed mag tag and insert the antenna end into the pen, sliding it along the side of the gaffed ink cartridge. For the best fit, make sure the battery side of the tag faces inward, toward the center of the marker. 1. 2. If you are performing with the pencil cup, push the tag into the marker inch above where the base will stop If you are performing with the walk-around holder, position the tag as close to the bottom the tag as possible. Color Match -- 4 Pencil Cup and Close-Up Case When performing with the pencil cup, use a 1/8 inch neo Magnet in the base of the cup. The magnet should cover the bottom of the pencil cup as much as possible. Try to avoid gaps in the edge that are more than of an inch. Place the markers into the cup; test the markers as shown in the video for proper operation. If you find there are dead spots in the cup, position the tag higher in the marker. When using the Close-Up case, position the tags in the marker as close to the base as possible. Put the markers into the holder, they should fit firmly so they do not move around. Test them for proper operation, twisting the marker in place if you do not get a signal when inserting the marker. You are ready to perform. Please look at the ebook and online videos for performance ideas. Thanks, Craig Filicetti WARNING! - Neodymium Magnet Safety Color Match contains neodymium magnets. The neodymium magnets are strong and must be handled with care to avoid personal injury and damage to the magnets. Fingers and other body parts can get severely pinched between two attracting magnets. Neodymium magnets are brittle and can peel, crack, or shatter if allowed to slam together. Eye protection should be worn when handling these magnets, because shattering magnets can launch pieces at great speeds. The strong magnetic fields of neodymium magnets can also damage magnetic media such as floppy disks, credit cards, magnetic I.D. cards, cassette tapes, videotapes, AND other such devices. They can also damage televisions, VCRs, computer monitors, and other CRT displays. Never place neodymium magnets near electronic appliances. Children should not be allowed to handle neodymium magnets, as they can be dangerous. Small magnets pose a choking hazard and should never be swallowed or inserted into any part of the body. Never allow neodymium magnets near a person with a pacemaker or similar medical aid. The strong magnetic fields of the magnet can affect the operation of such devices. Being brittle, neodymium magnets are prone to chipping and cracking. They do not take kindly to machining. Neodymium magnets should never be burned, as this will create toxic fumes.
