NOTE This Notebook PC should only be used in environments with ambient temperatures between 5C (41F) and 35C (95F). Maintenance Turn OFF and disconnect all external peripherals to prevent damage to the connectors. To prevent damage to the product during transport, please turn off the notebook. For safety and convenience when traveling, please follow these instructions:

1. Backup all needed files on your hard disk before traveling. 2. Recharge your battery overnight to ensure full battery power before you leave. 3. Do not forget to bring along the AC adapter. 4. Check the voltage rating and the outlet type of your destination. If the power cord of the adapter is different, then you need to purchase a suitable one. 5. Carry your notebook in its carrying case or in a briefcase. Never check-in the notebook as a luggage. 6. Protect your notebook from dirt, water, shock, and scratches. IMPORTANT Do not pick up the notebook by its display/panel Follow this step to prolong your battery life:

1. Do not try to disassemble, crush, puncture and drop your notebook. 2. Recharge batteries only as described in this manual and only in ventilated areas. Never use an external charger other than the one supplied with your notebook. 3. Do not leave your notebook in hot locations, it can make the battery broken. 4. Do not keep a notebook more than 2 months without recharge the batteries, or recharge a battery in a long time because it can damage the battery. You can save your hard disk life with this steps:

1. Always back up your data files from your hard disk. 2. Install the virus detecting program to monitor virus that could tamper your files. 3. Use scandisk once in a while to correct any errors found in the directory and your files. 4. Do not shift the notebook suddenly while the hard disk is being accessed, especially do not jar the hard disk as this may cause a hard disk crash. 1 Sound system

- If you do not hear any sound from the notebook, adjust the volume control. If you are using headphone or speakers, check that they are securely connected to your notebook.

- If the notebook emits a loud, high-pitched noise, This is the feedback between the microphone and speakers. It occurs in any sound system when input from a microphone is fed to the speakers and the speaker volume is too loud. Adjust the volume control. Printer If the printer can not work:

- Make sure the printer is on, and the driver is already installed.

- Make sure the cable printer is connected to your notebook.

- Make sure the paper is loaded in your printer. Virus 1. Install an Anti-Virus program and keep the definitions file (the file which tells your program which viruses to look for) up to date. Anti-Virus programs are commercially available and the definitions file updates are usually downloadable directly from the internet. 2. Be careful when opening e-mail from sources you dont know. Viruses are often triggered from within e-mail attachments so take care when opening any attached file. You can configure most Anti Virus programs to check e-mail attachments. Do not place the notebook underneath heavy loads or in an unstable position. Do not use or expose the notebook around magnetic fields as magnetic interference may affect the performance of the notebook. Do not expose the notebook to high levels of direct sunlight, high-humidity or wet conditions. Do not block the air vents to the notebook or impede the airflow in any way. Do NOT expose to or use the notebok near liquid, raining area, or moisture. Do NOT use the modem during electrical storms. Boot menu The Boot menu contains the boot configuration settings of the system. Set Boot Priority Set the sequence of boot devices. The system will try to boot from the first device. If it is not available, the system will try the next boot device. Security menu Security menu contains the security settings, which safeguard your system against un-authorized use. Administrator Password This set of password controls the system supervisors access to the whole BIOS setup utility. User Password This set of password controls the system users access to the whole BIOS setup utility. If the password on boot is needed, the password have to be arranged first. Otherwise the password can not be activated. NOTE Password Supervisor must be created before a password to turn on the notebook is made. To clear existing password press Enter and type the existing password. Then press Enter for the new password (without typing any password entry) and Enter again to confirm the password clearance. Save & Exit menu Save Changes and Reset Save the changes you have made and exit BIOS setup. After finishing with your settings, you must save and exit so that the new settings can take effect. Discard Changes and Reset Exit BIOS setup without saving the changes you have made. Discard Changes Get the default values of BIOS. Restore Defaults Load the defaults values of BIOS. TROUBLESHOOTING If notebook will not start

- Make sure the AC adapter and power cable are attached properly.

- Make sure the battery is fully charged.

- Make sure the memory is attached correctly.

- Make sure there is no problem with your hard disk. Display If the screen does not display properly go on Properties menu =>Appearance (change color) or Properties => Setting (display resolution). 5. Use hard disk maintenance programs like Disk Defragmenter of Windows. It will reorganize your hard disk at once. 6. Install a system password in your notebook so unauthorized users wont be able to use the hard disk. Use a soft lint-free cloth to clean the LCD and keyboard. Never use alcohol and other kinds of liquid to clean your notebook. GETTING STARTED Your notebook PC comes with a universal AC-DC adapter. That means you may connect the power cord to any 100V-240V outlets without setting switches or using power converters. IMPORTANT Using the wrong AC power could damage your notebook. Never pull directly on the power cable to unplug it. Hold the power plug when removing the cable from outlet.

Function keys: There are 12 function keys used in combination with the Fn key, function keys marked with icons execute specific functions. Ctrl, Fn, Alt keys: Do different things depending on the program you are using. Character keys: Have the same function as notebook display, except Caps Lock that can change the letter keys to upper case. Caps Lock LED on the keyboard indicator panel illuminates when you press the Caps Lock. Card reader The card reader allows you to use some of the latest digital storage cards. Push the card into the slot and it will appear as a removable device, and can be accessed in the same way as your hard disk. Before use it, make sure you install the card reader driver. Setting up communications To connect to the internet, use an online service with ADSL, 3G or telephone. To access a network:

When you are at home or traveling, you can use a 3G/CDMA modem or ADSL modem. Numeric keys: To activate press Fn+Num Lock simultaneously. You can connect the notebook to a modem through USB or LAN depend on an available port. BIOS CONFIGURATION You may need to run the BIOS Setup when:

- An error message appears on the screen during the system booting up and is requested to run SETUP.

- You want to change the default settings for customized features.

- You want to reload the default BIOS settings. How to run BIOS setup To run the BIOS Setup Utility, turn on the notebook and press the [Del] or [F2] key during the POST procedure. If the message disappears before you respond and you still wish to enter Setup, either restart the system by turning it OFF and ON, or simultaneously pressing [Ctrl]+[Alt]+[Del] keys to restart. NOTE Be noted that the screen snaps and setting options in this chapter are for your references only. The actual setting screens and options on your notebook may be different because of BIOS update. The drivers, BIOS and utilities bundled in the support DVD may vary by models and are subject to change without notice. IMPORTANT Do not make any changes unless you are sure of what you are doing. Many of the settings are required by system, and changing them could cause it to become unstable or worse. Info menu The Info menu contains the basic information of the system and shows some system information, such as the BIOS version, CPU type and speed, and the system memory. Main menu The Main menu contains the basic configuration settings of the system. Such as:

System Time & Date - The hour is displayed in 24-hour format. The values set in these two fields take effect immediately. Total Memory This field shows the memory size of system total memory. Advanced menu The Advanced menu contains advanced I/O

Do not leave your notebook connected to the mains and unused for more than a few hours. Battery life Battery life may be shortened through improper maintenance. To optimize the life and improve its performance, fully discharge and recharge the battery at least once every 30 days.
