TheMASTERVOLUMEcontrolontheheadsetraisesandlowersvolumeofallincomingaudiofeeds

together.Itwillnotraiseorlowerthevolumeofyouroutgoingvoicecommunication.(Thedistance

betweenyourmicrophoneandyourmouthisthebestwaytoadjustthis).



TheBALANCEcontrolontheheadsetenablesyoutodialintheperfectmixofgametovoice

communication.



Important:ItispossibletobringeithertheGAMEortheVOICEvolumedownto0%volume,ateither

endoftheBALANCEcontroldialspectrum.



TheEQ3switchontheHeadsetswitchesbetweenthethreeEQmodes:BassMode(bestformoviesand

gameswithalotofaction),SupremeMode(neutraltuningfornoenhancementsandgoodformusic),

andPrecisionMode(foraccuratesoundinFPSgames).



Micmutecanbeachievedbyflippingthemictotheupposition,andunmutedbybringingittothe

TheMASTERPOWERbuttonsontheHeadsetandGMXDolbyTransmitterdoexactlywhatyoumight

expect,butalsoareusedforpairingbyfirstholdingdowntheGMXDolbyTransmitterbuttonuntilit

blinkswhite,andthendoingthesamewiththeHeadset



Important:Whentheheadsetisidle(nosignaldetectedfor5minutes),theHeadsetwillautomatically

shutdown.Thisfeatureistopreventdrainingthebatterywhennoheadsetisconnected.Ifyou

thattheXbox360VoicePreferencesaresettoPlayThroughHeadset.Thiscanbecheckedbyhitting

theGuidebuttononyourXbox360controller,navigatetoSettings>Preferences>Voice.





PlayStationNetwork



MixinginvoicecommunicationonPlayStation3isalsopossible. InthePlaystation3CrossMediaBar(XMB),navigatetoSettings>AccessorySettings>AudioDevice

Settings,andmakesurethattheSKULLCANDYGMXDolbyTransmitterisrecognizedandselectedfor

boththemicrophoneinputandoutput.



Youllalsobeabletosetyourvoicelevelinthismenuscreen.Setthelevelsothatthebargraphonthe

topjusthitstheredwhenyouspeakloudly.Youcanhearhowyoullsoundtoothersifyougobackto

theAccessorySettingsmenuandentertheVoiceChanger.



Onceyouareconnected,incomingvoicefromthePS3cannowbebalancedwithgameaudiobyusing

readyforuse.ThePLYR1isdriverlessandinstallationisautomatic.

Propertiesboxonyourdesktop.NavigatetotheVoicetab,andconfirmthatbothVoicePlaybackand

VoiceRecordingaresettotheSKULLCANDYGMXDolbyTransmitter.Ifnot,changethisusingthedrop

downmenuoneachofthesecategories.



Next,clickonthePlaybacktab,andconfirmthatyourDefaultDeviceiseithersettoyoursoundcardor

onboardaudiosolutionforSoundPlayback.ThiswillenabletheSkullcandyGMXDolbyTransmitterto

bethedefaultdeviceforvoicein/outandyoursoundcardforgameaudioandgiveyoufullhardware

mixingcontrolviatheBALANCEdial.



UsingWindowsVista/Windows7



Uponinstallation,rightclickontheVolumeiconinyoursystemtrayandopentheAudioDevices(for

Vista)orPlaybackDevices(forWin7)submenu.



UnderthePlaybackTab,setyoursoundcardoronboardaudiosolutionasthedefaultplaybackdeviceby

rightclickingontheiconandselectingUsethisasmyDefaultPlaybackDeviceinthepopupmenu



Ifthereisagreencheckmarknexttothecurrentlyselecteddefaultdevice,youwillnotbeabletoselect

it,sinceitisalreadyselected.



Important:WindowsVistawillsettheSKULLCANDYGMXDolbyTransmitterasthedefaultplayback

devicewhenthePLYR1isfirstinstalled,whichwillcombinevoiceandgamesoundatyourPC.Follow

theaboveinstructionstoresetyourdefaultplaybackdevicetoasoundcardoronboardaudiooutput.

Alternatively,youmayleavethedefaultplaybackdevicesettotheSKULLCANDYGMXDolbyTransmitter

ifyouDONTwanttoconnectanextraaudiocableandDONTwanttousethemixingfeatureofthe

MixAmp.AsingleUSBcableisallyoullneedforthistypeofconfiguration.Simplymixgameandvoice

volumesusingthelevelsinthesoftwareforyouraudioandvoiceprograms.



Next,clickontheRecordingTabandconfirmthattheSKULLCANDYGMXDolbyTransmitterissetasthe

defaultdevice(shoulddisplayagreencheckmark)thisshouldbeautomaticuponinstallation.Ifnot,

rightclickonthemicrophoneiconthatisassociatedwiththeSKULLCANDYGMXDolbyTransmitterand

selectSetasDefaultDeviceinthepopupmenu.Youcanalsosetyourmicrophonerecordinglevel

throughthismenu.BesuretoclickApplytochangethesettingsbeforeyouexit.



TheSKULLCANDYPLYR1willalsoworkwithmanyotheroperatingsystemsincludingMacOSXand

Unix/Linuxvariants.

TroubleSHOOTINGGUIDE



GameaudioandvoicecommunicationisheardfromthePC,buttheBALANCEcontroldoesntseemto

haveanyeffect.



Rememberthatinordertomixbetweentwodifferentsignals,youllneedtohaveTWOseparateaudio

connectionsconnectedtotheMixAmp.IfonlytheUSBcableisconnected,attachanaudiocable

fromyourPCssoundcardormotherboardaudiooutputintothe3.5mmconnector.Followthesetup

instructionscontainedinthisguide(ConnectingthePLYR1toaPCatHome).



Iftwocablesarealreadyconnected,makesurethattheVoiceRecording/Playbackaudiodeviceisset

totheSKULLCANDYGMXDolbyTransmitter,andtheAudiodefaultdeviceissettoyoursoundcardor

motherboardaudiohardware.Checktheaforementionedsetupsectionforspecificinformationabout

youroperatingsystem.



Ifthemicoutputseemstobespotty,fullofstatic,oraccompaniedbyabackgroundhumorother

interferenceonXboxLivewhenyoutalk,checkyourconnectionstomakesuretheyareinsnugly.Also

Thereareafewpossibilitiesastowhythismaybeoccurring.Themostlikelyculpritisthe2.5mmcable

connectedtoyourcontroller.Pleasemakesuretheconnectorsarewipedcleanofanydustorresidue

manyoftheseconnectorsmighthaveresidueleftonthemfromthemoldingprocessandthiswill

createapoorconnection. IfyouareplayingonXboxLiveandyourcontrollermisfiresandtwitchesrandomly,check



ThisglitchisntduetothePLYR1itself,butananomalyrelatedtothewiredcontrollerfortheXbox

360(thiscanoccurusingthestandardXboxCommunicatoraswell).Anovervoltageoccurswhenthe

micisblownintoorgetsa*very*loudsignalfromanotherplayeronXboxLive(suchasthesoundsthat

occurduringarhinocerosattack),thatmaycausetheplayeraimtoadjustslightlywithoutinput.

Sometimesgunsfireandgrenadesarethrownontheirownusuallyatinopportunemoments,causing

teammatestoshunandridiculeyou.



Thereareacoupleofworkaroundstothis.Thefirstistoswitchtoawirelesscontroller,orawireless

controllerwithaPlayandChargecableattachedifyouwish.Thevoicecommisnowwireless(evenwith

thePlayandChargekit)alleviatingtheproblem.



Ifyoudliketocontinuetouseawiredcontroller,youllhavetoloweryourincomingvoicelevelthis

preventsovervoltagefromreachingthecontrollerthroughtheXbox360softwarelayer.Todothis,hit

theGuideButton>PersonalSettings>Voice,andlowertheincomingvoiceVolumefrom10(default)

downtoatleast4.Atlevel4,youllstillgetafewanomalieswiththeloudestincomingsounds,butits

reallyveryrare(seerhinocerosattack,above).Atlevel3,theproblemsgoaway100%.



Recheckthissettingeveryonceinawhilethereseemstobesomekindofbugwhereitllget

resettothedefault10everysooften.



FortunatelyforusersofthePLYR1,youcansimplydialbackmorevoicebyusingtheBalancecontrolon

theheadsetandyoullprobablyneedtoraisetheoverallVolumetogetbacktowhereyouwereat

before.
