The TattleTale will then initiate a call to the monitoring company 15 SETTING UP YOUR TATTLETALE PORTABLE ALARM SYSTEM Open the box and locate the following items:
a) AC Transformer /power cord d) Manual b) 7 Phone cord e) 2 Wircless door/window transmitters c) TattleTale Portable Alarm f) 2 Window decals Find a suitable location for your TattleTale that:
a) Has access to an active AC wall outlet. b) Is close enough to your entry/exit location to make arming and disarming convenient. c) Place your TattleTale so that an intruder will pass across (not directly toward or away) from the motion detector's field of view. Consider the following:
= The size and shape of the area to be protected.
= Objects that may block detection. Heat sources (avoid aiming the motion detector directly at lamps, windows, etc.)
= Devices that cause moving infrared signals (rapid temperature changes) that may be mistaken for an intruder such as fireplaces, heaters, fans, air conditioners, moving illuminated signals, and other sources of moving air. E.g., blowing curtains.
= Animals in protected area.
= Intruder's likely entry path (usually determined by the location of a door or window). Plug the AC transformer/power cord securely into the AC receptacle on the back of your TattleTale and into a nearby wall outlet. Secure the AC transformer with restraining screw provided. a) Check the "POWER" indicator lights on your TattleTale to make sure they are "on".

The following steps are recommended by the National fire Protection Association and can be used as a guide in establishing an evacuation plan for your building/home. Draw up a floor plan of your home. Show windows, doors, stairs, and rooflops that can be used for escape. Indicate each occupant's escape routes. Always keep these routes free from obstruction. Determine two means of escape for each room. One will be the normal exit from the building. The other may be a window that opens easily. An escape ladder may have to be located near the window if there is a long drop to the ground below. Set a meting place outdoors for a headcount of the building occupants. Practice escape procedures. In a home, sleep with bedroom door closed; this will increase you escape time. If you suspect fire, test the door for heat. If you think it is safe, brace your shoulder against the door and open it cautiously. Be ready to slam the door if smoke or heat rush in. Practice escaping to the outdoors and meeting in an assigned spot. Call the fire Department from a neighbor's telephone NOTE: After the set-up of your TattleTale has been completed, notify your local Fire and Police departments to give them your name and address for their records.
