Babyation user manual, packaging, labeling, app, and on the power adapter. Heres a guide to refer to throughout your pumping journey. Theyre like emojis for real life. 5 Intended Use, Population, Contraindication Intended use and population: The Babyation breast pump system is a powered suction device to be used be lactating women in the hospital or home setting to express and collect milk from their breasts. The Babyation breast pump system can be used by multiple users. Contraindication: There are no known contraindications for the Babyation breast pump. 6 Important Safeguards Please read all instructions before using this product! We suggest doing this before a 3am pumping session hits and its hard to see straight. While the breast pump system can be used by multiple users, each user must use her own breast pump kit. Breast pump kits are personal care items intended for use by a single user and should not be shared between users. Always unplug the system immediately after use, except when charging. Do not place or store product where it can fall or be pulled into a tub, sink, or other wet location. Do not run water over breast pump enclosure. Do not use an electrical device that has been exposed to water or other liquids. Do not use near flammable materials. Never operate an electrical device if it has a damaged cord or plug, is not working properly, or if it has been dropped or damaged. If damage is found, immediately discontinue use and contact Babyation at 844-744-PUMP (7867) or help@babyation.com. Use only the power adapter provided to power the unit and recharge the battery. If you need another one, please purchase a Babyation power supply intended for use with this model. Loose tubing and cables may present a strangulation hazard. Keep all tubing and cables away from children. If you are a mother who is infected with Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, or Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), pumping breast milk will not reduce or remove the risk of transmitting the virus to your baby through your breast milk. Do not use the pump while operating a motor vehicle. To avoid health risk and reduce risk of injury This device cannot be serviced or repaired. Do not repair yourself. Do not modify the device. Never use a damaged device. Inspect all components prior to use and replace damaged or worn accessories. Use the breast pump only for its intended use as described in this manual. Replace tubing every 24 hours as described in this manual. Clean and sanitize breast shield and milk collection devices prior to first use. Do not clean or sanitize your tubing. Clean breast shields after every use. Use only Babyation accessories with your Babyation breast pump system. The internal rechargeable battery is not replaceable. Do not attempt to service the battery. The Babyation device contains heat-generating components that could cause temperatures above ambient. The device has been tested to ensure excessive heating does not occur. 7 In order to disconnect the pump from external power, unplug the power adapter from the wall socket. Ensure that the adapter remains accessible at all times in case it becomes necessary to disconnect external power. While some discomfort may be felt when first using a breast pump, using a breast pump should not cause pain. Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water before touching breast pump, kit, breasts, and avoid touching the inside of the milk containers or lids. Use only drinking-quality tap or bottled water for cleaning your breast pump and parts. Ensure all parts are completely dry before use. Do not store wet or damp parts as mold may develop. Do not try to express with suction that is too high, causing discomfort or pain. The pain, along with potential breast and nipple trauma, may decrease milk output. Make sure tubing is not kinked or pinched while pumping. Ensure tube does not get pinched when closing lid. Using a breast pump on an aircraft is not recommended. The cabin pressure may affect the breast pumps performance. The breast pump can use Bluetooth technology. Please follow your air carrier rules if using the portable electronic pump when flying. For best battery life, try not to fully discharge the battery. If you are going to store the pump for an extended period, be sure to fully charge the pump prior to storing. Continue to top off the charge every several months. Plastic milk containers and parts become brittle when frozen and may break when dropped. The milk sensor will only work if the inside of the pump enclosure and outside of the bottle exteriors are kept dry. Do not puncture the breast shield diaphragm. Keep the breast shield diaphragm away from sharp objects. Breast shield parts should be completely dry before use. 8 Discontinue pump use immediately and contact Babyation support if milk is seen in the suction tube. Take care not to drop the pump. (But you knew that!) Do not store any other items in the pump lid besides the items that came with the device. Close enclosure lid when not in use to keep dust, lint, and dirt out of the system. Contamination may reduce the effectiveness of the pump. Keep enclosure out of direct sunlight. This will make the display easier to read, will prevent overheating of your milk, and will prolong the life of internal components. The breast shields should be replaced every 6 months. Keep the phone close to the breast pump to ensure the best Bluetooth connectivity. Connectivity issues may arise if the breast pump is used around other Bluetooth devices. The expected operating life of this pump is approximately two years. The milk level sensor is accurate to a quarter of a fluid ounce. 9 Product Description The Babyation breast pump system is a multi-user electric breast pump that you can use on either one breast or both breasts simultaneously (single or double pumping). It has a built-in rechargeable battery for increased portability and convenience, because we know these are important features for moms everywhere. The breast pump can also be controlled by the Babyation mobile app. The mobile app communicates wirelessly through Bluetooth technology with the breast pump, allowing you to remotely control the pump and and see real-time tracking of milk expression. There are additional controls on the breast pump system that can be used by themselves or along with the mobile app controls, depending on your preference. Personal data on the mobile app is secured, as is the wireless connection to the pump, to prevent unauthorized use. Components of Babyation breast pump system 1. Breast pump enclosure Ice pack a. Washing physically removes contamination, while sanitizing kills any organisms that may be present. Cleaning Your Breast Pump System Cleaning the breast shields, milk containers, and caps 13 When you unbox your breast pump system for the first time, you may be excited, confused, or likely a bit of both. Before you fully embrace those feelings (which are totally normal), you should sanitize the following items:
Breast shield outer shell Breast shield soft inner part Pumping caps Milk containers Storage caps DO NOT WASH, SANITIZE, OR CLEAN THE TUBING. THIS COULD RESULT IN PERMANENT PUMP DAMAGE. To sanitize with boiling water:
1. Fill pot with enough water to cover all parts. Bring water to a boil. 2. Place parts in boiling water for 10 minutes. 14 3. Carefully remove from water with tongs or whatever utensil you have handy that keeps you from getting burned. Place all parts on a clean towel or rack, and allow parts to air dry. Store parts in a cool place when not in use. Do not store wet or damp parts. Breast shield parts must be completely dry before use. Separate and wash the breast shield outer shell and soft inner part, milk containers, pumping caps, and storage caps immediately after use. Washing in sink:
1. Rinse breast outer shell, breast shield soft inner part, milk containers, pumping caps, and storage caps in cool water to remove milk residue. 15 2. Soak in warm soapy water for 5 minutes, and then gently scrub them and rinse. 3. Place all parts on a clean towel or rack, and allow parts to air dry. Store parts in a cool place when not in use. Do not store wet or damp parts. Breast shield parts must be completely dry before use. Using dishwasher:
1. Rinse breast shield inner layer, breast shield outer layer, milk containers, pumping caps, and storage caps in cool water to remove milk residue. 2. Place in top rack of your dishwasher. 3. Place all parts on a clean towel or rack, and allow parts to air dry. Store parts in a cool place when not in use. Do not store wet or damp parts. Breast shield parts must be completely dry before use. Washing will help remove breast milk and prevent growth of bacteria. Store these items in a clean bag or container until next use (Ziplocs or Tupperware work nicely). Take care not to damage parts of the pump during cleaning. Cleaning the breast pump enclosure and strap Wipe down the unit with a damp cloth covered in soapy water or an alcohol-based disinfecting agent. Wipe the remaining moisture off the unit with a dry cloth. 16 Cleaning tubing Do not clean or sanitize tubing, breast shield connector, or enclosure connector. Remove them from packaging and use for a single day. Replace every 24 hours or after 6 hours have passed without a pumping session. No more tedious tube cleaningyoure welcome. 17 Getting started Charge your breast pump To charge your breast pump or power it directly from the wall, securely insert the round end of the Were thrilled for you to use Babyations breast pump. We hope you are too! There are a just few steps you need to take before you can begin pumping. approved power supply into the charging port on the back of the Babyation pump. Plug the rectangular part of the power supply into a wall outlet. The battery indicator on the display illuminates as follows:
Fully charged 40-70% battery remaining 10-40% battery remaining Almost out 18 Battery/charger problem Device charging Breast shield assembly Breast shield parts must be completely dry before use. To assemble the breast shield, place the soft inner part into the outer shell. Line up the holes at the bottom to ensure correct orientation, and gently push them together. The soft inner part will form a seal around the outer shell. Milk container placement and preparing to pump Put milk containers into the two front compartments in the enclosure. You can only express milk into the front two spots. The back two spots are for storage only. Well get to that later. 19 Put pumping caps on front two milk containers and storage caps on back two containers. Remove tubing from packaging. 20 Connect the tubing to the breast shield by inserting the breast shield connector end into the holes at the bottom of the breast shield. 21 The enclosure connector will connect to both the enclosure connector pegs and the pumping caps.
<<image of connecting tubing to active caps>>
Repeat for the second breast shield and milk container, assuming youre planning to pump on both sides. The choice is yours. Pairing your breast pump to Babyations feeding app 1. Download and install the Babyation app from your smartphone or tablets app store (iTunes or Google Play Store). 2. Make sure your Bluetooth setting is turned to ON. See your smartphones user manual for help on how to do this (or you can Google it). 3. Create a Babyation account by following the prompts on the screen of the app. Its painless, we promise. 22 4. Pair your pump by pushing the pair my pump button in the app and then following the prompts on the screen. 23 5. Be amazed at how easy it is to control your pump and track your milk expression from your device. Pumping Breast shield placement Place the breast shield centered over the nipple. Once youve gotten everything assembled, youre ready to begin pumping!
Inserting the breast shield into the molded pad The accompanying pad can be used to maximize discretion. This optional pad can then go into whatever bra youre wearing for hands-free pumping. Or, if you want to hold the breast shields on your body the whole time, thats okay too. Do what works best for you. 24 Prepping for single pumping Use the plug on the enclosure to cover the enclosure connector pegs on the side you arent going to pump. If youre pumping on your right breast, use the right side of the pump in order to facilitate milk expression tracking. Vice versa if youre pumping on your left. Hold the breast shield onto your breast with your thumb and index finger, supporting the breast with the palm of your hand. This sounds harder than it actually is. Once the suction begins, youll no longer need to hold the shields in place.

Hold a breast shield onto each breast with your thumb and index finger, supporting the breasts with the palms of your hands. If youd like a hands-free pumping experience, we suggest using our bra insert with your favorite bra. Prepping for double pumping To start pumping To begin pumping without a smartphone, hold the power button on the pump down for 1 second. You may need to adjust your grip on the breast shields to press the button. 25 To turn the pump on with the app, press the pump now button on your smartphone. Make sure your smartphone and pump enclosure are within acceptable Bluetooth range and are connected to each other. 26 Youll know the pump is working because the screen will light up (youll also start to feel the suction). It will automatically default to Babyations standard first-time user settings if youre a first-time user. If youve used our pump before, it will turn on with your most recent settings. Its smart like that. It will always begin in the stimulation phase by default. Adjusting speed and suction You can control the speed and suction separately, from both the enclosure and the app. You have the power!
To change from the enclosure, turn the adjustable knob to hover over the thing you want to adjust
(speed or suction). It will be highlighted in a light blue on the display screen. Push the knob in to select it. The item you want to adjust will turn pink on the display screen. Rotate the knob until youve achieved your desired level, and then press the knob in to set it. The item on the screen will then return to dark blue. 27 To adjust on your smartphone, tap the plus sign + to increase speed or suction. The minus sign - will decrease speed or suction. 28 Changing phases Babyations breast pump will automatically change from the stimulation phase (stimulates the milk flow or letdown) to the expression phase (when milk begins to flow) after the pump has been on for 2 minutes. If youd like to change the phase yourself, you can do so either from the pump enclosure or from your smartphone. To change it on the enclosure, turn the adjustable knob to the selection in the display screen that says letdown. Push the knob to make the letdown selection and the display box will show the expression phase. When the letdown button is dark blue, you will know its in the expression phase. To change the phase using the app, push the letdown button on your screen. The phase youre in will be reflected under pump phase. 29 You can change back and forth as frequently as youd like. Pausing the pump If you need to take a break, we have you covered. To temporarily pause pumping, briefly tap the power button on the pump enclosure. To resume, simply press the button again. It will pick right back up where you left off. If youre using the app, press the big red stop pumping icon at the bottom of the screenwe made it big and red for a reason. When youre ready to resume, just press resume. 30 Stopping the pump If you leave the pump paused for 5 minutes, the pump will automatically turn itself off. When youre done (way to go, mama!), hold the power button for one second to let the pump know to wrap it up. 31 To stop the pump using the app, press the stop pumping button, then press the finished button. You can then follow the prompts on the display screen regarding saving modes and tracking the inventory of your expressed milk (see the Babyation feeding app section of this user manual for more details). At the end of the pumping session Separate the breast shield from one or both breasts by placing your thumb or finger between the breast shield(s) and your breast(s) and gently lifting off. 32 Remove the breast shield connector from the breast shield by gently pulling it out. The breast shield connector should remain connected to the tube. 33 Gently separate breast shield outer shell from the soft inner part. Wash the soft inner part in soapy water and be sure to dry it thoroughly (remember the cleaning instructions from earlier?). The soft inner part must be completely dry before reassembly. Gently lift up the enclosure connector to separate the tubes from the enclosure. The enclosure connector should remain attached to the tube. 34

At the end of the pumping day Tubing management Follow all of the steps above. Thoroughly clean and dry both the breast shield outer shell and the soft inner part. Both parts must be completely dry before assembly. Dispose of your tubes, breast shield connector, and enclosure connector. Start with a new set in the morning. Between pumping sessions, tubes should be loosely coiled and tucked in under the fins in the breast pump. Tubes should be replaced every 24 hours. If youre running low on tubing, you can order more at Babyation.com. Remember that you cannot wash the tubes, or you risk voiding your warranty and ruining your pump!
<<storing tubes in lid>>
Pad can remain in bra and be washed in the washing machine at the end of the day (or whenever you get to the laundry!). Filter replacement Your breast pump contains an integrated filter that protects the pump from bacterial contamination as well as prevents accidental overflow of milk inside the container from entering the system. The filter should be replaced if it is ever exposed to milk as a result of overflow or tipping. If you notice milk visible in the enclosure connector end of the tubing, immediately stop pumping and replace the filter and 35 tubing. Additionally, replace the filter if you notice that milk is not flowing properly down the milk collection tube, as this may be due to a partially clogged filter. The filter is threaded into the top of the pump enclosure. To replace the filter, simply turn it counterclockwise until it lifts out of the well that it is installed in. To install the new filter, place the replacement in the well and turn clockwise until tight. The filter will only spin about half a turna properly installed filter will result in the top of the filter being even with the height of the adjacent peg. Do not over tighten the filter, as this will make it difficult to remove in the future. Note that due to the curvature of the enclosure, the filter may appear to be inserted deeper on the left side than the right sidethis is normal and expected. Never attempt to operate the pump without the filter in placemilk will not properly flow to the container.
<<filter replacement image>>
Strap placement The strap has two holes on it. To attach the strap to the enclosure, line up the holes on the strap to the pegs on the side of the enclosure. Wiggle the strap around until the peg goes through the hole. Voila!

Babyation pump facts
<<tip symbol>> Tips The breast pump will run for 120 pumping minutes on a single full charge. The breast pump will automatically shut off after 30 minutes without any changes to the pump settings.
<<caution symbol>> Caution:
The tubing is 3.5 feet long. Dont try to walk further than that away from the pump, or bad things could happen (pump will come crashing to the ground, etc.). Pumping modes and settings:
Speed and suction can be controlled independently of each other. Each can be manually changed from either the enclosure or from Babyations app. 36 Both speed and suction have a range of 1-10, with 1 being the lowest amount and 10 being the highest. The pump initially starts in stimulation phase, which simulates your babys sucking motion before milk starts to let down. This is typically a faster, less intense rhythm than after letdown when milk starts to flow. During stimulation, the speed can be adjusted between 60 and 120 cycles per minute and the suction can be adjusted between 50 and 200 mm Hg. During expression, the speed can be adjusted between 30 and 90 cycles per minute and the suction can be adjusted between 60 and 250 mm Hg. The speed and suction levels will remain constant when either single pumping (one breast at a time) or double pumping (both breasts simultaneously). Within the Babyation app, you can select from customized pre-sets for suction and speed settings. You can also modify those pre-sets and save your own versions for a fully customizable pumping experience. 37 Breast shield sizing For your comfort, Babyation offers five breast shield sizes. In order to determine the size that best fits you, measure the diameter and circumference of your nipple using a measuring tape. Pumping should not be painful. If you feel you ordered the wrong size breast shield with your pump, you can order other sizes at Babyation.com. More sizing information can be found on the website as well. 38 Storing breast milk Room temperature 6-8 hours at up to 78 F
