danter Ausgang) siehe Anschlussbeispiele Seite 912.

Activation commands for hazardous conditions are only effective when the safety equipment is in protected status. During the planning and installation of separate protective devices, the following applicable standards have to be considered:
ISO13857 Safety of machinery Safety distances to prevent danger zones being reached by the upper and lower limbs EN 349 Safety of machinery Minimum gaps to avoid crushing of parts of the human body EN 953 Safety of machinery Movable safety guard ISO 13849-1, DIN EN ISO 13849-2 Safety of machinery Safety related parts of control systems ISO 13855 : 2008-09 Safety of machinery The positioning of protective equipment in respect of approach speeds of parts of the human body ISO 14121-1 Safety of machinery, risk assessment EN 1088 (ISO 14119) Safety of machinery Interlocking devices associated with guards Before installation of the CSMS, please ensure that you are informed about the standards and regulations applying to your intended use. The safety sensor can only be used in combination with the actuator provided by BERNSTEIN. Application The electronical safety sensor is suitable for use in safety circuits and monitors the position of the protective devices by means of a coded actuator. Depending on the variant, the electronic outputs must be connected to a safety evaluation unit or directly to the contactors. In the latter, the feedback circuits of the contactors are monitored by the CSMS and a start button can be connected. The CSMS can be used individually or can be switched in series. The complete safety chain must be laid down by the operator following a comprehensive evaluation, taking all relevant standards into account. At the same time, the level of safety required for this type of operation must also be taken into account. Safety functions:
safety switch off of the safety outputs when the safety guard is opened permanent safety switch off as long as the safety guard is open The diagnostic output is used to deliver status information of the CSMS and of the CSMS system. This output should not be used in a safety-related manner. Function A CSMS unit (figure 1) consists of an actuator and a CSMS sensor. The CSMS is composed of the functional components safe detection of the actuator and safe evaluating logic. Every actuator of the CSMS unit has a code for unambigu-
ous and error-free identification. Two different options of coding level are available. If a high-level coding (unicode) is required, one specific actuator is assigned to each sensor. In such a case, the sensor cannot be actuated with another actuator of the same article number. With a teach adapter, the user can assign a substitute actuator to the sensor. When low-level coding is required, every actuator that is intended for use in this coding level can be recognized by the sensor. ISO 14119 determines which coding level is required. The redundant inputs and outputs either serve to switch the CSMS units in series, or to connect other safety components with OSSD outputs, such as safety light curtains (allocation for redundant input) or contactors and safety controllers (al-
location of redundant output). See pages 2730 for connec-
tion examples. A system can consist of 1 to 32 CSMS units. The installation and operating instructions describe two different CSMS versions:
CSMS for applications for connecting to a safety evaluation unit (version R) CSMS for applications which are configurable as a system, with manual and automatic start without the need for an additional safety evaluation unit
(version RRS) You will find a version and application overview on page 26. Contactors which can directly be controlled by the CSMS have to be connected to both CSMS connections. The mass of the contactors must be linked to the mass of the CSMS. The supply must be protected against damage. The installa-
tion of the cable can be made in conduit or ducts. For safety, the supply line must be protected by a fuse
(2,5 A gG). Thus, in case of failure, a fire can be avoided. The manufacturer / supplier of the machinery / equipment must respect the applicable standards for the design of the security clearances of the separate protective device to the danger point. This includes, amongst others things, the following regulations ISO 13857, EN 349, EN 953, EN 1088 (ISO 14119). The operator of the facility must ensure that a network failure up to 10 ms can be bridged by a power supply. The control unit which the CSMS is integrated into should be validated by the end-user / machine designer in accordance with ISO 13849-2. In this case, the sensing distance of the CSMS unit is typically 13 mm. The safe switch-off distance (Sar) is 19 mm. At this distance, it is ensured that the sensor switches off the safety outputs. The hysteresis is 0,5 mm. In the transmission area, there are so-called side lobes (see fig. 11), in which the switch is also activated. For an application with the approach direction A4, the minimum distance between CSMS and actuator must be X 5 in order to ensure that an activation in the side lobes is excluded. The installation should only be carried out by authorized personnel. The mounting position is arbitrary. The CSMS should be installed in such a way that the display is visible. The active areas of the CSMS and the actuator must face each other (optimum alignment = tips of the triangle symbols are pointing exactly at each other
(see page 22 figure 1)). If the CSMS or actuator is mechanically damaged, these components must be replaced. This can be done independently. Installation safety The CSMS and the actuator may not be used as a stop. The specified sensing distances can only be reached if the following conditions are met:
The CSMS and the actuator must not be installed close to magnets. The CSMS and the actuator must not be flush mounted in metallic materials. 17 mm should be maintained (see fig. 12). Metal can influence the sensing distance. In order to get the maximum switching distance on metallized substrates, a spacer should be used (see accessories on page 36). When multiple CSMS are next to each other, there must be a minimum clearance space of 100 mm between each CSMS to ensure trouble-free operation (see fig. 14). min. 100 mm Metal Spacer 8mm Fig. 12 Fig. 13 Fig. 14 CSMS-R/RRS: 0800000756, 0235-14 / Status: 2 / Issue date: 2014-08-05 25 Variants and application overview The overview shows the CSMS variants R and RRS as well as possible applications. The voltage range of the CSMS is 24 V +10 % / 15 %
The voltage drop depends on the core cross section, the total length of the lines
(all lines have to be considered) and the current flowing through the cable. The exact cable length depends on the application and must be calculated in accordance with the electrical bases. 20.4 V 26.4 V Fig. 27 Lmax= maximum length of a CSMS system 32 The following are 2 examples of a length estimation:
Example 1 of a length estimation:
Power supply = 24 V 5 CSMS in the system Output current of the last CSMS = 2 10 mA Cable cross section 0.25 mm2 Maximum cable length = 160 meters Teaching in the actuator Example 2 of a length estimation:
Power supply = 24 V 10 CSMS in the system Output current of the last CSMS = 2 20 mA Cable cross section 0.25 mm2 Maximum cable length = 80 meters The actuator of a CSMS unit has a non-modifiable safety code. This code must be submitted to the CSMS and permanently saved in the CSMS. This is already done in the CSMS sets. In case of CSMS or actuator single orders, the initial programming has to be done with the BERNSTEIN program-
ming tool (artice number 6075989056). The same applies to the identification of a substitute actuator. Short description:
The actuator must be exactly in front of the CSMS sensor. See page 24, approach direction A1. The teach adapter will be switched in series between the power supply and the CSMS sensor to be taught in. After the CSMS sensor connection is completed and the voltage is impressed, the red LED of the CSMS sensor lights up. The green LED on the teach adapter lights up when the CSMS sensor has read out the actuator. The button on the teach adapter should then be pressed. After the learning procedure has been successfully completed, the green LED of the CSMS sensor lights up. The teach adapter must then be removed. For future operation, the system must be dis-
connected from the power supply for at least 2 seconds. Potential sources of error if the learning procedure has not been successfully completed. Actuator and CSMS sensor not positioned properly Plug connectors not connected together properly A detailed description for programming the safety code is included with the programming tool. The diagnostic interface is used for transmission of internal safety-related status information. A detailed description is included with the device manufacturers instructions. The use of the diagnostic interface is optional. With this diagnostic interface (for article see also table on page 36), the user can see for example, which protective guards are open or closed. This information is transmitted, depending on the diagnostic device, either electronically via PNP outputs or via gateway to the Profibus. Via a bus interface, a large amount of additional information from the CSMS can be directly transmitted to the controller. Actuator 1 Sensor 1 Start-
