INSTALLATION MOUNTING GUIDELINES
* Mount the unit as low and as near to the center of the windshield as possible. (See: Mounting Instructions)
* DO NOT mount unit behind wipers, ornaments, mirrored sunscreen glass, etc*. - as these obstructions have metal surfaces which may negatively impact the effectiveness of the device by reducing critical warning time.
* Avoid placing the unit in direct contact with windshield.
* DO NOT mount unit where driver or passenger may collide with it in the event of an abrupt halt.
* Mount the unit in a level position. Properly store device when not in use to avoid theft and exposure to high temperatures which may temporarily impair detector performance.
*Note:
Tinted glass does not affect the device. However, some newer windshields have Instaclear or Electraclear type coatings, which can affect radar signals. Consult your dealer or your owner's manual to determine if your vehicle has this coating. WINDSHIELD MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS
|, Attach the suction cups to the bracket. 2. Make sure both suction cups and windshield are clean and free of debris. Push bracket firmly onto windshield. 3. Before attaching radar detector, if necessary, adjust bracket by gently bending it to an angle best suited for both driver and vehicle. 4, Attach detector to bracket and check angle for proper visual alignment. 5. Plug AC adapter into the cigarette lighter jack and then connect to the detector. 2 DASHBOARD MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS
|. Locate a section of the dashboard providing the unit a clear level view of the road, Please note that the angle cannot be adjusted after mounting. 2. Remove paper backing from one side of the Velcro fastener. 3. Attach the pad to the dashboard at the desired area and remove the other pad backing. 4, Attach the detector to the Velcro fastener which allows unit to be removed and attached as often as needed. 5. Plug AC adapter into the cigarette lighter jack and then connect to the detector. 10 POWER CONNECTION Your detector is designed to operate on most 12V, DC, negative ground, vehicle electrical systems. The power cord provided with the unit has a cigarette lighter adapter plug at one end and a small DC connector on the other.
|. Insert the small connector into the receiver jack on the side of the unit. 2, Insert the other end into the vehicle cigarette lighter/accessory socket. FUSE REPLACEMENT If the detector does not operate after being powered on for the first time, remove the power adapter from the cigarette lighter/
accessory outlet. Carefully check the socket for debris. Also, check the fuse in the adapter as well as the vehicle fuse box.
|. To replace the fuse, unscrew the top of the power adapter. 2. Remove and check the fuse to determine if it has blown and then replace it accordingly. lant ) aro) _)))=0 iS) OPERATION POWERING DETECTOR ON Power On and Self-Test 1, Rotate ON / OFF / Volume Control Dial clockwise. S) OE 2. Powering on Early Warning results in an automatic self-test sequence to confirm functionality of both the speaker and visual display. Please note: In some vehicles, power is supplied to the cigarette lighter / accessory jack even while the ignition is off which may cause the Early Warning to drain the vehicle battery if vehicle is parked for prolonged periods of time. Please unplug the Early Warning to prevent such events from occurring. INDICATORS:
+ The buttons can have multiple functions.
+ A different Tone Alert will be heard for a confirmation upon each change of settings.
* All settings are stored in memory from previously set modes after it is powered off. 12 SETTING AND INDICATORS Tutorial Mode Your detector has a tutorial mode that demonstrates all of its alert indicators. In tutorial mode, you can check the status of all indicators. Each time you press DIM button, You can see each demonstration. Press CITY and DIM button simultaneously and turn on to start Tutorial mode. Press CITY button to finish any time. Dim Mode You can select levels of brightness for your radar detector:
Bright Dim Dark City Mode Your detector has two operating modes: City and Highway. I. In City mode, the detector requires a stronger X-band signal before it sounds or displays an alert. 2. City mode prevents false alerts in densely populated areas where radar signals can bounce off surrounding structures. X-Delete You can select X-delete Mode. It will reduce false alarms. To delete X-band, Press CITY button until the 4 Beeps sound. Repeat the procedure to activate X-band detection. Mute Selection Each time you press Mute button, you can choose one of the following modes:
1. 90sec Mute-On Mode (Voice Msg. of Mute On). Silences the alert tone and voice for 90-sec. If any radar signal is not detected within 90 seconds, reset to auto-mute. 2. Permanent Mute-On Mode (2 Beeps and Voice msg.) Silences the alert tone and voice. 3. Mute-Off Mode (Voice Msg. of Mute Off) Release Mute-status. Automute Mode Automute will automatically reduce the audio volume after 4 seconds as long as the signal is detected. 20 after mute, the unit goes to its previous mode. VG-2 On / Off Police officers could use VG-2 device to determine if a driver is using a Radar Detector. Your radar detector is invisible to VG-2. VG-2 function is always on. Using a detector where it is illegal is NOT advised (Washington DC and Virgina), Please be sure to check state laws to determine if radar detectors are legal where Early Warning is in use. Do not expose the detector to moisture, rain, dew, road splash or other liquids that can damage the internal components and detector sensitivity. 14 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS, What is VASCAR?
VASCAR (Visual Average Speed Computer and Recorder) is a time
/ distance computer that determines a vehicle's average speed by timing it between two reference points - usually white stripes painted on the roadway. Used both by ground units and aircraft, VASCAR does not use radio waves and therefore is undetectable. Officers typically sit at the top of a freeway on-ramp or other vantage point, timing traffic between two reference points. VASCAR is rarely used at night. Watch for the telltale white stripes across the road which reveals use of VASCAR. (Early Warning Radar Detector does not detect VASCAR). What is the range of detection?
The range of detection is approximately | - 1.5 miles or | mile for roads with heavy curves, 1.5 miles for straight road
(unless police are using Instant-On radar). What do the different bands, X K, Superwide Ka represent?
+ Xcband -the first band used for traffic radars, which uses a frequency of 10.S25GHz.
+ K-band traffic radar units are lower powered and more difficult to detect than X-band, it operates at 24.15GHz.
+ Superwide Ka-band - operates on any frequency between 33.4 and 36.0GHz. What is VG-2 Also known as a "Radar Detector Detector, will alert you when a police device is in use near your vehicle, In addition to speed traps, in the state of Virginia and Washington D.C., radar detectors are illegal. Therefore, drivers need to activate or deactivate the VG2 feature What is LIDAR and how does it work?
LIDAR is the correct name for LASER. It cannot penetrate through glass, can be effected by rain, snow, fog, smoke and other airborne dust particles. 15 TROUBLE SHOOTING Problem Cause Solution Be sure all power Reinsert plug Power connection is secure. and rotate.
