MagicCloser Installation/Users Guide 1. Introduction Congratulations on the purchase of the Magic Closer Garage Door Closer. The Magic Closer is easy to install and will provide the comfort and peace of mind that the garage door wont remain open indefinitely whether youre at home or not, as it will close automatically after a pre-determined amount of time has been selected. The Magic Closer consists of two devices. The Smart Sensor mounts on the inside of the garage door and the Receiver Control panel mounts next to the existing garage door activation switch and both require and are powered by single AA battery. Prior to installing MagicCloser, ensure that the garage door is equipped with an external entrapment protection device, such as an infrared beam sensor, which can detect an object obstructing the garage door. A garage door opener that does not have an auto-reversing feature should be replaced by one that has the auto-reversing feature. It is recommended that MagicCloser be installed on a garage door with the entrapment/auto-reversing feature. Without a functioning safety reversal system, a person could be seriously injured or killed by a closing garage door. Warning 2. Installation MagicCloser Smart Sensor Installation To install the Magic Closer Smart Sensor remove protective paper from the attached Velcro on the backside of the Smart Sensor and attach to the top back side of the garage door (figure 1). Orientation does not matter. 3/19/2013 Figure 1 Mounting Location for MagicCloser Transmitter. Attach each of the two Magic Closer wires to either of the terminals and re-tighten the screws with both the original wires on the switch, along with the new wires from the Magic Closer. The MagicCloser receiver is installed in addition to the existing wall switch. It does not matter which color of Magic closer wire is connected to the garage door panel as long as they each are securely tighten. 3. Operation Setting the activation time Press and release the push-button on the MagicCloser receiver pre-determined time settings ( 5min or 15min ). Setting the Delay Feature Press and release the delay push-button on the MagicCloser receiver. This will give a 6hr delay to pre-determined setting. Once the 6hrs time period has elapsed, the door will close. The next activation time will default to the previous pre-determined setting How to Determine Current Time Setting The MagicCloser will indicate its current activation time by the associated blinking LED next to the timer setting. A blinking LED is visible next to any the current option selected During the last 45 seconds of the pre-determined setting, ( Off Excluded ) will have an audible beep and start out intermittent and become continuous as it is ready to close. Should the audible warning begin, and you require more time, simply press one of the settings during the audible warning and the Magic Closer will be reset to the beginning of the chosen timer setting. Low battery Indicator:
Solid Red LED indicates low battery on Receiver ( Wall Mount ) Blinking Red LED indicates low battery on Smart Sensor. 3/19/2013 Page 2 of 3 IMPORTANT It is important to note that MagicCloser simply activates the existing garage door button. Therefore, if the garage door is open or partially open (as in the case of ventilation during the summer) the direction of the garage door is determined by the previous travel direction before the door was stopped. Some models will allow you to leave the garage door partially open after previously traveling in either direction. Some models will only allow you to leave the garage door open when it was previously traveling in the up direction. If the MagicCloser activates and the garage door opens instead of closes the MagicCloser will re-
activate and close the garage door within 1 minute as it still senses that the garage door is open. 4.
