without notice. 6 BlueSoleil for WinCE 1.2.4 User Manual 1 Introduction BlueSoleilTM for WinCE is a Windows CE-based Bluetooth wireless software suite from IVT. It is fully compliant with the latest Bluetooth SIG specifications. BlueSoleilTM for WinCE V1.2.4 includes seven Bluetooth application profiles. The following table indicates which of these profiles is available for client and server devices. Seven types of connection are supported in this version of the BlueSoleilTM for WinCE software: LAN Access using PPP connection, Dial-up Networking connection, Serial Port connection, Personal Area Networking connection, Bluetooth Fax connection, File Transfer connection and Object Push connection. Connection management includes the following operations:
Create New Connection Rename Connection Remove Connection Connect Disconnect Set as Default 2.2 Device Management Device refers to a device that provides Bluetooth service(s), for example, Headset, Modem, Notebook, PC, Pocket PC (or PDA) and Handset. Device management includes the following operations:

If not already installed, install Windows XP/2000/98 on the PC. Install synchronization software such as Microsoft ActiveSync on the PC. Copy the BlueSoleilTM for WinCE setup pack to the PC. Connect the Pocket PC to the PC through a serial port or USB connection cable. Make sure that Microsoft ActiveSync has been activated. 3.2 First Time Installation The following steps outline how to install IVT BlueSoleilTM for WinCE on a Pocket PC for the first time:
Step 1: On the prepared PC, double-click the setup.exe file from the BlueSoleilTM for WinCE setup pack. A dialog box Choose Setup Language appears (Figure 3.1). Choose your preferred setup language and press OK. Figure 3.1 Choose Setup Language Step 2: The InstallShield Wizard dialog box appears. The InstallShield Wizard acts as a guide through the setup process (Figure 3.2). (To exit the setup, click the Cancel button.) Click the Next button. A license agreement appears, click Yes to continue the setup process. Before click the OK, please check your mobile device to see if additional steps are necessary to complete this installation. (Figure 3.5). Click the Finish button, and installation is over. If the program still exit, please choose it and click remove again. (Figure 3.9). Double click the BlueSoleil icon to start the BlueSoleilTM for WinCE application. Start ActiveSync with default Serial Port connection shortcut. Dial-Up to Internet: Dial up the Internet using the default Dial-up Networking shortcut. (Once you have created a default Dial-up Networking shortcut, you can access the Internet by simply clicking on the shortcut.) Personal Network Access:
Discoverable:
Status:
Exit:
Set up the default Personal Area Networking connection. (Once you have created a default PAN shortcut, you can access other Bluetooth devices by simply clicking on the shortcut.) Set the local device to be discoverable for other Bluetooth devices. Show the Status window. Quit BlueSoleilTM for WinCE. 4.3 Operation Windows There are three operation windows in BlueSoleilTM for WinCE:
Device window:
This is the main window of the application. It provides information of found devices and provides some operations such as searching devices services. Shortcut window: Shows information on shortcuts and provides some operations such as removing/ renaming shortcuts. Status window:
Indicates status information of active Incoming Connections and Outgoing Connections and enables the disconnection of connections. To navigate these operation windows, click the Bluetooth Manager on the Notify Menu and enter the main window of the application, the Device Window. The Device window shows the Bluetooth devices found nearby. Double click a device icon to identify its services. The Device window highlights the found services as shown in Figure 4.5. Note: Different device icons and service icons represent different device and service classes. Refer to the Appendix, Section 7.1 to find the exact meaning of each icon. Once the connection is set up successfully, this connection will be saved as a shortcut and the Device window will automatically switch to the Shortcut Window, Figure 4.6. Remove the shortcut. Rename the shortcut. Make a connection with this shortcut. (Only enabled when the shortcut connection is inactive.) Disconnect:
Disconnect the shortcut connection. (Only enabled when the shortcut connection is active.) Set as Default: Set the shortcut as the default shortcut. Then when the corresponding set up default connection command on the Notify Menu is selected, this shortcut connection will be set up. Property:
Show the connection property of the active shortcut. To disconnect a connection, click Disconnect on the Shortcut pop-up menu or disconnect from the Status window. Input the passkey in both the Passkey Edit box and the Confirm Edit box. 5.2 Configure Paired Devices Information Click Configuration on the Tool menu. In the popup Options dialog click Paired Device tab (Figure 5.2). Remove a paired device by selecting it and then click the Remove Device button. Figure 5.9 OPP Default Business Card Configuration Set local OPP Server Send My Card on Request. Tick the Send My Card on Request checkbox, the local OPP server will send the default business card when remote OPP client sends pulling request. Otherwise, the local OPP server will refuse the pulling request from the remote OPP client. Set local OPP Server Accept Business Card. Tick the Accept Business Card checkbox, the local OPP server will accept the pushed Business Cards from remote OPP client. Otherwise, the local OPP server will refuse the pushed Business Cards. 5.7 Configure the Bluetooth Transport Layer The application automatically prompts the user to configure the Bluetooth Transport Layer properties. If this is not configured then the Set Bluetooth Device window appears. Step 1: Select User Defined (Figure 5.16). Click the Browse button to select the driver provided by hardware manufacturer. (The driver file should be copied to a folder that can be browsed and selected.)

In this example the LAN Access application of BlueSoleilTM for WinCE is the client

Double click the Pull Remote Business Card item to pull the default business card of the remote OPP server. The received business card is stored in Pocket PC Contacts. Double click the Push PIM Object item to send PIM Object. Select a PIM object in the popup dialog to send it to the remote OPP server. Double click the Exchange Business Cards item to exchange the default business cards with the remote OPP server. The received business card is stored in Pocket PC Contacts. And you also can use Pocket PC Contacts to push contact items to remote server through the OPP connection (Figure 6.61). In Pocket PC Contacts program, select one or more contact items. Click the Tools|Send by BlueSoleil item or click the Send by BlueSoleil item in the popup menu to send the selected item via the Bluetooth OPP connection. Note: In the case of you do a object push action with some certain devices(for example, Nokia mobile phones), the OPP connection is disconnected by Nokia mobile phone, after a object push action has been done successfully. So you should re-establish the OPP connection again, if you still want to do object push action. Note: Before acting as a OPP server, please make sure that you have already set a contact as default in the Pocket PC Contacts program, otherwise the exiting incoming OPP connection will be disconnected automatically when you do setting a contact as default. 6.6.2 Disconnect the OPP Application You can disconnect the connection by closing the OPP operation Window. BlueSoleilTM for WinCE can act as both the FAX client and the FAX server. 6.7.1 Set up a new Fax connection BlueSoleilTM for WinCE as a Fax Client

To perform an ActiveSync session, set up the host computer, then create the wireless connection. 7.2.1 Configure ActiveSync parameters on the PC side It is only possible to use a laptop or desktop computer as an ActiveSync partner. Configure as follows:
Create an ActiveSync partnership using a serial or USB connection. See the Pocket PC User Manual for directions. The host PC determines which COM port is configured for local serial services. Open ActiveSync on the host computer. Select File | Connection Settings Configure the host PC to monitor the COM port identified. Uncheck the statement related to USB and Ethernet connections. For example, if COM5 is the port used by a Bluetooth software on PC side, select COM5 at File | Connection Settings in order to make a connection (Figure 7.1). If you cant activate ActiveSync, select File | Connection Setting and click the Get Connected button. Then select the correct COM port.
