To set up your phone in this way, you must set the number of rings before pickup for the answering machine to be less than the number of rings before voicemail pickup. Turn on or off the answering machine The answering machine records incoming messages and memos. The answering machine factory default is off. You must turn on the answering machine to record messages, but you can record memos even if the answering machine is turned off.
