EN Your Guide to SpeakEasy Front Panel 1. Power/Volume/Play/Pause: When plugged in, push in briefly to Play/Pause while music is playing. Rotate to adjust the volume. When operating on battery power-
only, push in briefly to turn on; Press and hold to turn off. You can also ask SpeakEasy to adjust the voume, such as Hey Google, play it louder. 2. Microphone: Press briefly to mute the microphones. The Assistant LEDs will turn amber. Press again to unmute the microphones. 3. Bluetooth: Press briefly to place in Bluetooth mode; Press and hold to discover new Bluetooth devices. Open Bluetooth on your source device and search/scan for the CA SpeakEasy name, then pair and connect. Once youve paired you shouldnt need to do it again. If your source device prompts you to enter a passcode, enter 0000. Adjust the volume as desired. 4. Assistant LEDs: The 4 white LEDs will flash whenever Speakeasy is thinking. The LEDs will change to amber color whenever the microphones are muted or during a Factory Data Reset (refer to the Rear Panel section). The LEDs will flash blue in Bluetooth mode. 2 EN 5. Time: The 7-segment display shows the time in 12 hour format and the brightness is auto adjusted via the optical sensor in the front panel. SpeakEasy should be continuously connected to your Wi-Fi in order to maintain the correct time. EN 6. Optical sensor: Automatically adjusts the displays backlight based on ambient light conditions. 7. Display icons: Battery is charging; Alarm is set; Timer is active; Snooze is active. Top Panel 1. Press to Talk (center button): Press briefly for SpeakEasy to listen for your command/query without having to speak Hey, Google first. 2. Microphones: The small round openings to the left and right are the microphones. Do not cover or obstruct the microphones. 3 Rear Panel 1 FDR (Factory Data Reset): To completely reset SpeakEasy, have it power cycle, and place it in Setup mode, press and hold until the front panel assistant lights start to turn amber color, then release the button. All network settings and user-
specific settings will be lost. 4 2. 18V/2.8A DC: Connect the included external Como Audio power supply to this input to power SpeakEasy and to charge its battery. Attach the appropriate snap-in plug to the power supply for your region. If the power supply is ever lost or damaged, use only a like replacement. 3. Reboot: Press briefly to reboot SpeakEasy if an issue occurs. Unlike the FDR button
(#2 above), you will not lose any settings or need to repeat the setup in the Google Home app. 4. USB 5V/1A: Connect a smart phone for charging. Please be sure not to exceed the 5 Volt/1 Amp rating. This jack will not play music from a USB thumb drive or an MP3 player. 5. Speaker: Connect the optional wired SpeakEasy Speakers audio cable to this right channel output. Use only the Como Audio SpeakEasy Stereo Speaker with this output. 6. Mono/Stereo: Keep this switch in the Mono position unless the optional SpeakEasy Speaker is connected, in which case it should be placed in the Stereo position. In the stereo configuration, SpeakEasy will reproduce the left channel only and the SpeakEasy Speaker will reproduce the right channel only. Accordingly, it is suggested to position the optional SpeakEasy Speaker on the right side. The more distance between the two speakers, the better the channel separation and soundstage. 7. Battery compartment: The 2200mA 14.8V custom Li-Ion battery pack is user replaceable. Use only a genuine Como Audio replacement battery pack, as unauthorized batteries could pose a fire risk and are not covered under warranty. The displays battery icon will illuminate whenever the battery is being charged. For more, see Battery Playback. Bass Port/Carry Handle: Rest your palm on the top of the cabinet and insert your fingers inside the port to carry. Do not obstruct the bass port otherwise. 5 Setup Using the free Google Home Android App You can also watch the Setup video on our website:

7 Alarm:
To set the alarm with the unit on, simply speak the command with the time you wish to wake, such as Hey, Google, set the alarm for tomorrow at 7am. The alarm time will appear for 5 seconds. If you change your mind, you can say Hey, Google, cancel the alarm. You can wake to a song or a radio station instead of the jingle by speaking Hey Google, set a music alarm for tomorrow at 7:40am. More than one alarm can be set. The alarm will automatically turn itself off after 10 minutes if no action is taken but youll still have to tell Google to cancel the alarm. The alarm jingle volume is at a fixed level and cannot be adjusted. Note: If SpeakEasy is Off and the external power supply is not connected, if the battery runs out of power before the alarm activates, the alarm will not work. Snooze/Alarm Off:
While the alarm is sounding, you can tell SpeakEasy to put the alarm in Snooze mode, such as Hey, Google, Snooze for 10 minutes. To turn the alarm off while it is sounding, briefly press the Play/Pause knob, or just say Hey Google, stop the alarm. The alarm will automatically turn itself off after 10 minutes if no action is taken but youll still have to tell Google to cancel the alarm. Timer:
To set the timer, simply specify the amount of time in your command, such as Hey, Google, set the timer for 20 minutes. If you change your mind, you can say Hey, Google, cancel the timer. Outdoor use:
SpeakEasy is splash resistant but not water proof. It should never be placed under running water or submerged. Take care to keep the real wood veneer from being exposed to moisture. Battery Playback/Charging time/Replacing the Battery:
Results will vary depending on use, but at approximately 60% volume with a fully charged battery, expect roughly 8 hours of playback time. A depleated battery pack could take up to 3 hours to fully charge (the battery icon will illuminate during charging). When operating on battery power, lower volume levels will extend battery playback time. During extended periods of non-use, be sure SpeakEasy is kept at room temperature with a 40% battery charge. 8 To replace SpeakEasys battery, remove the battery cover and follow the instructions included with the replacement Como Audio battery pack (sold separately). Software updates:
SpeakEasy periodically checks for new software updates and downloads them automatically. Google Cast:
Play audio from any Cast-enabled music service app by selecting the Cast icon in the music app, selecting SpeakEasy as the output device, and selecting Play. Multiroom:
You can use multiple SpeakEasys for whole house audio by setting a group in the free Google Home app and controlling them via the app; Play the same source on all SpeakEasys or different sources on each. Connecting The Como Audio Turntable via Bluetooth:
1. Switch the Como Audio Turntables Bluetooth switch On (switch is located on right side of turntable). 2. Press and hold SpeakEasys Bluetooth knob (last knob on right) for 4 seconds and release. You will hear a chime confirming connection. 3. SpeakEasys lights might continue to flash blue for some time. This is normal. If the turntable doesnt pair and connect within a minute or so, switch the Turntables Bluetooth switch off and on again. 4. Whenever you change SpeakEasy from the turntable to a different source such as playing Internet radio or a music service, to go back to listening to the turntable, or if the turntable wont connect, switch the turntables Bluetooth switch Off and back On again and repeat step 2 above. Some examples of how you can interact with SpeakEasy (always begin with Hey, Google, or Okay, Google):

Note: The wood veneers we apply to our nearly thick cabinets are indeed real wood. They are quite literally products of nature, and as such, have their own color and grain characteristics which can vary from tree to tree, often times greatly so. It is exactly these naturally occurring variations that result in each wood cabinet being truly unique. Thus, there may not be a precise match between the SpeakEasy and the SpeakEasy Speaker. Also, the wood veneer can darken over time, particular when exposed to sunlight. SEM52319 15
