The modular transmitter must have its own RF shielding. 1 November 2011 Federal Communications Commission Authorization and Evaluation Branch 7435 Oakland Mills Road Columbia, MD 21046 Subject: Request for unlicensed Limited Modular Transmitter Approval. Dimplex North America Ltd hereby requests FCC Authorization for the Model #
6001560100, FCC ID Z49-00001 as Limited Modular Transmitter approval. Please refer to our comments to demonstrate compliance with the modular transmitter basic requirements (items 1 to 8) as specified in 47 CFR, Sec 15.212 shown below. 1. The modular transmitter doesnt have its own RF Shielding but the shielding will be provided by the host devices in which it will be integrated as permitted under limited modular approval guidelines of FCC. The module is for exclusive use by the applicant as an OEM integrator and will be installed in their Convector Heating products (LPC series) as shown in the user manual of this filing. It is not intended to be sold to outside third party integrators. The module will be safely secured inside the heater metallic body, hence the shielding will be provided by this metallic enclosure and it is properly grounded. The LPC series comes with different power ratings and sizes (length) but uses the same type of metallic enclosure hence the shielding will be provided to module by all models of heaters. 2. The RF modulation controls are generated on board to ensure that the module will comply with Part 15 requirements under conditions of excessive data rates or over modulation. 3. The modular transmitter receives its own power supply regulation from +5VDC on the power board. In order to comply with the requirement that all voltages being regulated. 4. The modular transmitter antenna must comply with the antenna and transmission system requirements of section 15.203, and 15.204(C). The modular transmitter must have buffered modulation/data inputs. The modular transmitter must have its own power supply regulation. The antenna is permanently integrated to the PCB of the module and complies with above FCC antenna requirements. 5. The modular transmitters was tested in a stand-alone configuration. 6. The modular transmitter must be tested in a stand-alone configuration. The modular transmitter must be equipped with either a permanently affixed label or must be capable of electronically displaying the FCC identification number. A FCC ID and model number is labeled on every module. FCC ID label and location exhibit has a photograph which shows the exact location of the label. Since the FCC ID number will not be visible when the module is installed inside heater, another heater rating label with the same FCC ID will be applied to the exterior of the heater enclosure. 7. The modular transmitter must comply with any specific rule or operating requirements applicable to the transmitter and the manufacturer must provide adequate instructions along with the module to explain any such requirements. The EUT complies with all specific rules such as modulation scheme, modulation type, bandwidth, antenna requirements, power supply regulation, and suppression of spurious emissions and so on. A detailed user manual is provided with every EUT which instructs the user to maintain compliance as per the requirements of the Commission. 8. The modular transmitter must comply with any applicable RF exposure requirements in its final configuration. The EUT is compliant with applicable RF exposure requirements and EUT is operated in a manner that ensures the public is not exposed to radio frequency in excess of Federal Communication Commissions guidelines. Best regards, Liming Xia Engineering Service Manager Dimplex North America Ltd.
