It also contains circuitry for electricity metering. When the MRX2EA4 module is installed in a plastic housing it forms a complete electricity meter. 12 MRX2EA4 units are placed in a metal cabinet together to complete an MRX2EA4 system. Installations of multiple MRX2EA4 meters comprise part of an Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) system that utilizes a proprietary network architecture and protocol devised by Elster Solutions.
