Make sure the Parents and Babys units are functioning properly, on the same channel, and within reception range of each other. It is essential to check the sound reception regularly. Your adapters are equipped with polarized alternating current line plugs
(a plug having one blade wider than the other). This plug will fit into the outlet only one way. This is a safety feature. If you are unable to insert the plug fully into the outlet, try reversing the plug. If the plug should still fail to fit, contact your electrician to replace your obsolete outlet. Most building codes currently require polarized electrical outlets. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized plug. IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS The Evenflo Constant Care 1500 Secure Sound Monitor should not be used as a replacement for adult supervision of children. Please note that any modification of the transmitter or receiver will violate FCC compliance and can void the users authority to operate this monitor set. 1. Read and observe all warnings on the product and in this Owners Manual. Pay special attention to information marked WARNING and IMPORTANT. This information can affect your childs safety. Keep this Owners Manual nearby for quick and easy reference. 2. Avoid placement near water or moisture. Do not use babys unit outdoors. Do not use your monitor near a bathtub, shower, sink, laundry tub, swimming pool, wet basement, or other locations where water or moisture may result in electrocution. 3. Allow for proper ventilation of the adapters and the monitors. Do not place your monitor on or under a rug, bed, sofa, blanket or similar object that blocks its ventilation. Do not place it in a built-in installation such as a bookcase or stereo cabinet. These may impede the air flow through the ventilation openings. 4. Remove the batteries from the monitor components and unplug the AC adapters if the monitor will not be used for a long period of time. 5. Avoid placement near heat sources. Do not use your monitor near a radiator, stove, heat register, or other appliance (including amplifiers and TVs) that produce heat. Heat can damage the case or components. 6. This monitor can be operated by batteries (Parents Unit uses three AAA batteries and Babys Unit uses one 9 Volt battery) or by the Evenflo AC adapters provided. The Evenflo AC adapters provided must be plugged into standard household outlets (120V AC outlet). Do not use extension cords. 7. Protect the AC adapter cords. Route cords so they are not walked on or pinched by items placed upon them. 8. Do not immerse any component in water. Clean the monitor with a dry cloth. 9. Do not use near fluorescent lights, appliances with motors, televisions, fans or other machinery. These items may interfere with the quality of your units transmission or reception. 10. Adapter must be removed from either the transmitter or receiver for battery operation. In case of power outage, the batteries will not act as a backup if the AC adapters are engaged. 11. Either adapter cord has been damaged. Objects have fallen or liquid has been spilled into any of its components. It has been exposed to rain or water. (receiver). It is powered either by a 9 volt battery or by an AC adapter which is included. 1. Place the Babys Unit on a hard flat surface 5 to 10 feet away from the baby. Do not place it on a soft surface or it may tip over. 2. Aim the front of the Babys Unit towards the baby. Be sure that there arent any large objects blocking the path between the Babys Unit and the baby. 3. Attach the AC adapter to the Babys Unit, fully extend the cord, and plug the adapter into an electrical outlet. Use only the adapters included. 4. Check the channel switch. Ensure the Babys Unit is set to the same channel as the Parents Unit. 5. Slide the Power Switch to ON. The Power Light will glow green. 6. Turn the Babys Unit OFF when not in use. Before you set up your monitor, please read all instructions and warnings carefully and completely. Check the channel switch. Ensure the Babys Unit is set to the same channel as the Parents Unit. 2. Move to a room away from the Babys Unit. 3. Place the Parents Unit where you can easily monitor it by sight or sound. You can use the Parents unit three ways:
When using batteries, place it where you can easily see or hear it. When using batteries, wear it using the belt clip. When using the adapter, plug it into a standard wall outlet. 4. Turn on the Parents Unit by rotating the ON/OFF Volume Control; adjust the volume. The Power Light will glow green. 5. Turn OFF the Parents Unit when not in use. 6. Have someone speak into the Babys Unit to verify sound transmission. Troubleshooting Guide PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE Power indicator light isnt working. Unit isnt getting power. Battery may be weak. Audio Out-of-Range alarm sounds. Parents Unit may be outside the transmission range of the Babys Unit. Babys Unit and Parents unit are on different channels. Babys Unit is not turned on, or may not be plugged into a working outlet. Battery in babys unit may be weak. Reception is poor due to static, buzzing or interference. Other household appliances, cordless phones, fluorescent lights or motors may be disrupting the signal. Parents Unit may be out of effective range. Battery may be weak. Parents Unit is making a loud feedback noise. Babys Unit is picking up sounds from the Parents Unit because they are too close to each other. Volume may be set too high. Parents Unit is picking up sounds or static from outside your home. A neighbor has a similar baby monitor, cordless phone or walkie talkie that is transmitting sounds on the same frequency channel. SOLUTION Make sure unit is properly plugged into the wall and the outlet is switched on. Replace battery. Move Parents Unit closer to the Babys Unit. Make sure that both units are set to the same channel. Turn the ON/OFF switch on the Babys Unit to the ON position. Check the AC outlet to be sure it is working. Replace battery. Turn off, unplug or move the device that is causing the problem. Move the Parents Unit closer to the Babys Unit. Replace battery. Move the Parents Unit at least 10 feet away from the Babys Unit. Lower the volume. Change the frequency channel that is in use. Be sure to change the channel on BOTH units. Limited Warranty For a period of ninety (90) days from the original purchase of this Product, Evenflo warrants this Product (including any accessories) against defects in material or workmanship. At Evenflos option, Evenflo may repair or replace any Product that is determined to be defective by Evenflo and determined to be covered by this warranty.
