HotSwappingtheBatteryPack TheMD100TabletPCbatterycanbereplacedwithoutshuttingdownthetabletorinterruptingyour work,byuseofthebuiltinbattery.Thebuiltinbatterycansustainpowerforupto30minutes,during whichperiodtheswappablebatterymustbechangedtopreventlossoffunction. Toswapthebattery,laythetabletonaflatsurface,andpullthetwotabsindicatedtowards theedgesofthetablet.Thebatterywillpoplooseandareplacementcanbeslidintoplace. Theappropriatetemperaturerangeforhotswappingthebatterypackisbetween10C(14F)and 50C(122F). ChecktheBridgeBatteryIndicatorafterunlockingthebatterylatch.Replacethebatterypackonly whentheindicatorlightsingreen.Aredlightmeanstheinternalbridgebatterylevelistoolowforyou tosafely hotswapthebatterypack. Whenthebatterylatchisunlocked,thedisplaybrightnesslevelwillbefixedatalowlevelandcannot beadjusted 14 Ifthehotswappablebatterypackisnotinsertedwithin30minutes,theTabletPCentersHibernation modeormayswitchoffentirely. 15 InternalBattery Theinternalbatteryisnotuserreplaceableandisnotvisibletotheoperatingsystem.Itneverfunctions asthepowersourceaslongasthehotswappablebatterypackisinstalled.Itenablesthehotswapping function,sinceitprovidespoweronlywhenthebatterypackisremoved.Theinternalbatteryshouldnot beusedtopowerthetabletduringregularoperation. Bydefault,theinternalbatteryischargedbyexternalACpower(ifconnected)orthemainbatterypack ifitisnotfullycharged.Topreservebatterylife,itispossibletosettheinternalbatterytochargeonly whenconnectedtoanACPowerSource. 16 5.Usingoptionalfeatures UsingtheCAC(CommonAccessCard)CardReader This device may include an internal CAC card module for ID authentication. UserscaninsertthesmartcardintotheReader,pleasefollowtheinstructionsinthespecific softwareforyourapplicationtouseCACcardfunctionproperly. TheeControllerisnotapplicationsoftware.Youneedinstalltheproperapplicationsoftware(App)touse themoduleforyourdesiredfunctions. Systeminformation TheSystemInformationcomponentoftheeControllerAppwillautomaticallycheckthetablets information. 22 Fingerprintscanner Whenactivated,theusermayplaceafingertiponthescanner,andthescannerwillreadtheprintand displayitintheindicatedareaofthescreen,untilremoved. Systemwillquicklyscananddisplaythebarcodeinformationonscreen. Pressthebuttonagaintoreadthebarcodeagain.Thedisplayedinfowillrefreshanddisplaythenew barcodeinformation. Pleaseaimthelaseratthecenterofbarcode.Donotplacethescannertoofarfrombarcode. Barcodescanneruseslasertechnology,donotpointittowardanyoneseyes. Buttonconfiguration Buttonconfiguration can program the F1 and F2 buttons on your tablet. Temperature:20to60(4to140) Relativehumidity:10%to90%(nocondensationonthedevice) TransportingtheM10KDevice DisconnectallthecablesfromtheMD100whilecarryingthedevice. Whenyoutransportthedeviceforanyreason,usetheoriginalcasingandpackagingmaterials.Itis recommendedtokeeptheoriginalpackagingmaterialsfortheMD100. IfthedeviceneedstobereturnedtoDeviceManufacturerforWarrantyrelatedissuesorrepair,itis beneficialthattheoriginalpackagingorequivalentisusedforshipping.Mostshippingcarriersrequireat least2inchesofpackingmaterialaroundthedevice. DuetoJointCommissionregulations,anyshippingmaterialsincludingboxessenttoDeviceManufacturer mustbediscarded. 8. Safety TheMD100devicehasbeentestedandapprovedascomplianttoalltheSpecificationsand StandardslistedinAppendixBComplianceInformation,andintheAppendixATechnical Specifications.Nevertheless,inordertoensuresafeoperationofyourMD100device,thereare afewsafetywarningstobearinmind:
Donotdisassemblethisproduct.Youmayreceiveanelectricshock,orforeignmattermayenter andresultinafire.Ifamalfunctionortroubleoccurs,immediatelyturnthepoweroffandunplug theACpowersource.Thencontactyoursupplierstechnicalsupportofficeforrepair. 26 Donotserviceorperformmaintenanceonthedevicewhilethedeviceisinuse.Makesuretoshut thedevicedownandunplugallcablesbeforestartingandserviceormaintenanceworkonthe device. 2.1 PowerSupplyandBatteries TheMD100devicecontainstworechargeablebatteries.Allrechargeablebatteriesdegradeover time.Thus,thepossibleusagetimesfortheMD100afterafullchargecanbecomeshorterover timethanwhenthedevicewasnew. TheMD100deviceusesaLiionPolymerbattery. Ifyouareinahotenvironment,beawarethatitcanaffecttheabilitytochargethebattery.The internaltemperaturemustbebetween0/32and45/113forthebatterytocharge.If theinternalbatterytemperaturerisesabove45/113thebatterywillnotchargeatall. AvoidexposingtheMD100devicetofireortotemperaturesabove60/140.These conditionsmaycausethebatterytomalfunction,generateheat,igniteorexplode.Beawarethat itispossible,inaworstcasescenario,fortemperaturestoreachgreaterthanthosestatedabove in,forexample,thetrunkofacaronahotday. OnlychargetheMD100batteryinanambienttemperatureof0/32to45/113. Onlyqualifiedpersonnelwithappropriateservicedocumentationshouldreplacethebackup battery.Otherwise,personalinjuryorequipmentdamagecouldoccur. UseonlythesuppliedpoweradaptertochargetheMD100device.Usingunauthorizedpower adaptersmayseverelydamagetheMD100device. ForsafeoperationoftheMD100device,useonlychargerandaccessoriesapprovedbyDevice Manufacturer. IfthePowerSupplyCordisdamageditneedstobereplacedbyServicePersonnelonly.Donot usethePowerSupplyCorduntilreplaced. DisconnecttheACpowerplugofthePoweradapterfromthewallsocketwhennotchargingthe deviceanddisconnectthepowercablefromthedevice. SpecialregulationsapplytoshippingdevicescontainingLiionPolymerbatteries.Ifdropped, crushed,orshortcircuited,thesebatteriescanreleasedangerousamountsofheat,mayignite, andmaybedangerousnearfires.
