When there appears Add Ne w Hardwar e Wizard, press th e Cancel button a nd install Upg rade M anager. If you inst all Upgrade Manager, the USB dri ver will be automatically i nstalled. The dr i ver is rec ognized wi thout installation of a separate program u nder Windows ME, 2000, XP, but make sure to install it if Firmware Upgrade is requir ed. If Upg rade Manager is not installed under Win dows 98 SE, the pla yer cannot be recog nized as a removable disk. Ma ke sure to i nstall Upg rade Man ager. Insert Installation CD into CD-ROM Drive an d then click setup.exe in the folder of Upgrade Manag er. The installatio n will start. Installing USB Driver Click Next. Cl ick Next or Yes in subsequent wi ndows. 10 When the i nstallati on has been done, connect it to the PC as shown in the next page. 11 Connecting Player to PC To download music files (M P3/WMA/ASF/OGG) from the PC, use USB ca ble to conne ct the MP 3 Player to the USB port o f the PC.
(Make s ure to use only USB cab le suppl ied with the MP3 Player. ) Manually Installing USB Install the USB driver in the following way when it is not recognized a s a removable disk. If there do esnt appear EZMAX EZMP- 4100 USB Device" in Disk Dr ive of Device Manager or USB M ass Storage Device(Except Window 9 8SE) in Uni versal Serial Bus Contr oller, or if there does a yellow exclamation mark or Unknown Device, the driver has not been properl y i nstalled. In this case, manually install the driver. If an error has occurred while installing USB driver Check Device Manager. Windows 98SE/ME Control PanelSystemDevice M anager Connect A of the cable to the USB port on the part o f the PC . Open the cover o f the USB port o n the pa rt of the player a nd connect B(a sm aller part) of the cable to the USB port. 12 Windows 2000 (Professi onal ) Control PanelSystemHardwar e Device Manager Windows XP (Pr ofessional ) Control PanelPerformance and M aintenanceSystem HardwareDevice M anager Check whether ther e are any d evice with a exclamati on mar k or questi on mar k(unknown device or USB de vice) in De vice Manager. 13 Manually Installing USB Double click the device with a excl amation or question mark. Press Install Driver Again.. Click Next in the subsequent wind ows. When searchi ng dri ver files as sho wn below, click th e Browse to select C:\Winnt\Inf or C:\ Windows\Inf and pr ess OK. Press Next: in the subsequent windows to complete the installation of the USB dri ver. 14 Manually Installing USB (Win 98SE) For W indows 98 SE Click Ne xt in the subsequent windows. Designate the path for searc hing the driver file t o \Upgrade M anager\Drivers of CD Drive. Make sure to restart your system after installation is completed. 15 Using Re movable Disk Since the player is detected as a removabl e disk on the par t of PC, you can easil y upload, d ownload, or delete music files or fol der s in Wi ndo ws Expl orer without a separate manager pr ogram. Cop ying files t o Player(Download) 1) When you connect the player to the USB cable , it is recognized as a removable disk in Wi ndows Explorer. 2) Click the re movabl e disk to enter into a memory area of the pl a yer. 3) Run one more Windo ws explorer. Using Re movable Disk Ex port File( Upload) 1) Connecting the USB cable to the P layer allo ws the P layer to be recognize d as a re movable disk in the Windo ws Explo rer. 2) Select the remova ble disk to have a ccess to the mem ory area of the Playe r. 3) Run one more Windows Ex plorer. 4) Select a file you want to export from the removable disk, a nd then:
Drag & drop to the disk to which y ou want to export. Or right-click the mouse to select Copy, and select a folder to which you wa nt to export, and then right-click the mouse to select Paste. You can add or delete a folder in the Windows Explorer. Whe n you download a music file t o the pl ayer, wait until there ap pears Ready on the displa y as sho wn below. If you di sconnect the USB cable dur ing DOWNLOAD or UPLOAD, the file may not be properly downl oaded. Check the display(READY) and then disconnect the cabl e. 4) Select the fi le to save , Drag and drop it to the removable disk. Or, right- click to select Copy. Designate the r em ovable di sk and rig ht-
click to sel ect Paste. 5) Then, ther e will app ear a file transfers window, indicating that the file is being copi ed to the r emovable disk. 16 READY Status DOW NLOAD UPLOAD 17 Using Re movable Disk For mat Player 1) Formatting in the Window s Select the remo vable disk, and then right-click the mouse to select F ormat(Se lect FAT as a file system). Click Start. (If y ou remov e the USB cable w hile form atting, the player could be damaged. Be sure to remove it after the formatting has been done .) 2) Formatting in the Player Press th e MENU b utton to enter into th e menu mo de. Select t he File M anager with button and the n press the MEMU button to enter into Fi le Manage menu. Select F ormat menu with VOL +/- button and then press the MENU button. After selecti ng Confirm, pr ess the M ENU button one more to start formatting.
Be car eful since formatting will delete al l contents permanentl y. 18 Disconnecting USB Cable After com pleting file transfer, disconnect the USB cable i n the following way. Rig ht-click the r emovabl e hardwar e icon on the taskbar of the des ktop, and then select Remove Hardwar e Safely. After sel ecting the device to disconnect, click Stop . 19 Disconnecting USB Cable Click OK to confirm the device to stop. Click OK to r emove USB cable. Upgradi ng Fir mware Downl oad the latest version of firmware at our website ( www.ezm ax.co.kr) and unzi p it (u nzipped to 4 files.) Cop y the unzip ped latest fir mware files into C:\Program Fi les\EZMAX\EZMP-4 100 folder . Execute Firmware Upgr ade manag er program. Wai t for the de vice to search. Con nect USB c able. Abnormally disconnecting the USB cable m ay result in damages or a failure to the player. The order of music files that appears when you select a removable in W indows Explorer has nothing to do with the actual disk sequence in ac cordance with the playback. 20 21 Upgradi ng Fir mware Cl ick Start to proceed Firmware Upgrade. Select Data Area For matting to d elete all t he files in the system. Di sconnecting the USB cable during Firmware Upgr ade may result in mal-
functi ons of t he player or the PC. Whe n the firm ware upg rade has been compl eted, cli ck Close and remo ve the USB cable(Refer to Disconnecting USB Cabl e). Ins talling LDB Manager Insert the Installation CD into CD- ROM Drive and click setup.exe i n the fol der of LDB Manag er. Select a language to use. Click Next or Yes in the subsequent windows. 22 23 Using LDB Ma nager LDB Man ager is a program that autom aticall y enters the lyrics in MP 3 music files and can b e used wit hout conn ecting the player to PC. Using LDB Ma nager En ter Lyrics(Auto Search) Select the MP 3 fil e to enter the lyrics in the file list windo w, and pr ess Enter Lyrics on the to p menu. The l yric ser ver searches for infor mati on about the l yrics accordi ng to informatio n about the rel evant files to automatically enter the l yrics. The Internet should be av ailable so that it c an get inf ormation about a lyric from the l yric server. Lyrics are not marked for the VBR file since time information does not match. After the l yrics have been entered in, you can c heck the l yric marki ng informatio n is displ a yed in the file list wind ow. Play back in the preview windo w to check i nfor mati on about th e l yrics. 24 25 Using LDB Ma nager En ter Lyrics (Manu al Search) Select the file to enter the l yrics and click the button on th e top menu. Enter the name of si nger or ti tle of song to search for in Enter & Search Lyric wind ow and press the Se arch button. The songs matching the ti me i nfor matio n, singer i nformation and title will be displayed. Click the M P3 file to check the l yrics to e nter in the right wind ow. Press the Lyrics Marking button on the right bottom of the LDB search window to compl ete entering th e l yrics. 26 Using LDB Ma nager Delete Lyr ics Select the MP3 file to del ete lyrics and press the infor mation. button to delete th eir Manually Enter Lyr ics Select the file to enter the l yrics and press the Press Text Editor, enter the l yri cs you wan t and then click OK. button on the top me nu. 27 Using LDB Ma nager Press Playbac k in the preview window and press the SYNC setting button at the point wher e there should appear one line of l yrics e diting wi nd ow. - When liste ning to the FM radio, press short to move to the previous frequency while ke ep pressing to automatically search for the previous station.
- In the PR ESET mo de, press short to move to the next PRESET number. REC/A-B
- During the playback, press short to specify the sectio n A and do so again to specif y the se ction B for the Repeat Section. And then another pressing short will cancel the Re peat Section.

- If you press any button while it is i n the HOLD status and the player is bei ng played, it di splays the message HOLDING!, sticking to its pre vi ous status.
- If you press any button while it is in the HOLD status and the pl ayer is turned off, it displa ys the message HOLDING!, sticking to i ts power-off status. 31 Power O N/OF Power O N Press PLAY short to turn the power ON, and there will appear the logo on the display, follo wed by which there appe ars a ve rsion of firmware , a total me mory and the me mory ava ilable to the Playe r. Playback Music File You can play back a musi c file or fil es recorde d in the pl ayer in the PLAY me nu. Press MENU short to m ove to the menu m ode. Select the PLAY menu and press MENU ag ain to mo ve to the menu.
!NOTE: A total of memory an init ial booting shows may be less than its default memory s ince som e part of it is used t o drive the system by the firm ware. Power Off Press and hold PLAY to turn th e power OFF while the logo G OODBYE is displ aye d. If you pr ess PLAY during th e playback, it will enter i nto its pause. It will be automaticall y released in the time you set in advance if you do not press any button.

- Plays back files in which FM radio br oadcasting is recorded.

The volume can be adj usted from 0 to 30 level s. 34 35 Using Navigation Use the fu nction of Navigation to easily search for the file you want. Press and hold MENU to move to t he Navigation mode . Voice Recording/Listening Recording Voice During the playback or in the p ause status, press and hold REC to record voice. Press it ag ain to sto p recor ding. Press PLAY to listen to the voi ce file you have just recorded. It will be recorded in an order of V001, V002, and saved in the VOICE folder as W AV file after its recording. Voice recording will not work if it is in the FM RADIO mode or if the line-In cable is not connected. Voice recording will aut omatically stop if the memor y is full. Listening to Voice Recording File In the PL AY menu, sel ect th e VOICE PLAY using the VOL+/- button and pr ess PLAY to play back the voice recor ding fi le. Press and hol d MENU in the Navi gation mo de to rele ase. 36
37 MP3 Encoding/Listening Connect t he line-in port of the player an d the output port of an exter nal audi o de vice to the line-in cable. Do not listen to FM during the recording f rom an external device since it may cause a noise. If you want to record from a hom e audio device, our line-in cable may not work, and you need to s eparately purchase a line-in cable. Encoding ma y not be perform ed if the line-In cable ha s not been connected. Encoding after setting t he volume of an external audio device properly. Too high or lo w volume may deteriorate the encoding sound qualit y. 38 MP3 Encoding/Listening Bit Rate Setting In the M ENU mode, use the MENU button a nd SETTINGS ENCODING BITRATE and select one of 96/112/128 kbps. button to sel ect

39 MP3 Encoding/Listening Encoding When the music for encoding is pl ayed back from an external device, press a nd hold the REC button on the part of the pl ayer to start encoding. Press and hold it ag ain to stop encoding .
It will be recorded in an order of L001, L002, L003, and s aved in the folder of LINE_ENC as M P3 file af ter its recording. Encoding stops if you disconnect the line-in cable. Encoding may not work if there isnt suffic ient in the battery g auge.
