Please read this guide carefully before you hit the road and make sure you meet all of the following requirements:
You fully understand how to correctly operate the Gogoro B01. You fully understand all the operational instructions, special notes and warnings described in this manual. Gogoro Service Center features: items which can only be adjusted, activated or deactivated by the Gogoro service staff. 1.1 Safety notice Make the most of the Gogoro B01s superior performance by following appropriate handling and riding procedures. To protect yourself and others on the roads, please follow the instructions listed below:
Abstain from riding if you are under the influence of drugs or alcohol, or if you are not in a good physical or mental condition. Observe traffic regulations and pay attention to road and traffic conditions to proactively avoid dangerous situations proactively. Always wear protective gear that meets the legal requirements, such as a helmet, and other protective gear such as gloves when necessary. Do comply with legal requirements of your country or region, such as the installation and use of lighting, bell and reflectors. Perform basic inspections before every ride. The left brake lever operates the front brake, and the right brake lever operates the rear brake. 24 26 2 The braking distance might increase under wet weather and road condition. The A-weighted emission sound pressure level at the driver ears is less than 70 dB(A) Do not use bicycle trailer / child-seat / bicycle carrier with this product. Contact Gogoro designated service center if maintenance or repairs are needed. Warning: This product is not for off-road purpose. Incorrect use might lead to parts damage or personal injury. Warning: High temperature or heat radiations in a confined environment might damage composite components. Warning: As with all mechanical components, EPAC is subjected to wear and high stresses. Different materials and components may react to wear or stress fatigue in different ways. If the design life of a component has been exceeded, it may suddenly fail, possibly causing injuries to the rider. Any form of crack, scratches or change of colouring in highly stressed areas indicates that the life of the component has been reached and it should be replaced. Warning: For composite components impact damage may be invisible to the user;
therefore, after serious impact, composite components should either be returned to the manufacturer for inspection or destroyed and replaced. Warning: Any attempt of tampering the parts of this product, might lead to parts damage or personal injury. Use only genuine replacement parts for safety-critical components, such as handlebar stem, wheel set (including motor and battery), charger, frame and fork. Warning: When you squeeze the brake levers hard or all the way to the end of their leverage, the braking force can increase sharply. 2.3.1 Handle bar settings Straighten the stem and handle bar. Tighten the screw on the left hand side of the stem Use T45 Torx wrench Torque: 15 Nm 7 2.3.3 Pedal installation Install pedals. Use 8 mm hex wrench Torque: 20 Nm Please note that the left pedal has left-handed thread, please turn counter-clockwise to tighten it. The right pedal is on the opposite. 2.3.4 Saddle height settings We provide 5 different lengths of seatposts. Please contact Gogoro via the Gogoro Smartwheel APP or website if necessary, and choose a proper length to fit your needs. This saddle height adjustment needs some extra tools and knowledge, and is not meant to be self-serviceable, please consult your local dealer if necessary, and more detail described in chapter 8.3.1. Take out the charger from the side compartment 2.4 Wake up your Gogoro B01 and charge the battery During shipping and storage, the Gogoro B01 might be under Hibernation mode and cannot be turned on and function. Please do the following procedure to wake it up. Connect AC wall outlet and charger. Put charger vertically on Gogoro B01 to initial charging. When charging, if LED on motor lights up or flashes, it means this Gogoro B01 is awake and ready to be ridden. 9 Note: If LED is still silent, means something is wrong, check the connection between charger and AC outlet. Unplug and then replug vertically . Warning: Plug and unplug the charger connector vertically and gently. Applying excessive force on the connector with improper angle might damage the hardware. Warning: When the battery is left to be at a low level of charge for too long, it can become damaged. Please always connect the charger with B01 and wall AC outlet, and keep the battery fully charged when you are not using the Gogoro B01. Warning: In order to protect the battery from damage by over-discharge, be sure to charge the battery to full level before you store of ship the Gogoro B01, and charge the battery at least once per month. Warning: Always connect the charger both to the wall AC outlet and B01. NEVER leave B01 on the charging stand without connecting to wall AC outlet for more than 1 month, to prevent battery damage. 2.5 APP Setting 2.5.1 Download and install the Gogoro Smartwheel APP The Gogoro B01 can only work with the Gogoro Smartwheel APP. With this APP, your smartphone can serve as the key, dashboard, and control panel of the Gogoro B01. The Gogoro Smartwheel APP is available for iOS and Android platforms. 10 You can download Gogoro Smartwheel APP by scanning the following QR code:
iOS platform: Requires iOS 11.0 or later. Please download from the QR code or Android platform: Requires Android 6.0 or later. Please download from QR code or Apple iOS APP Store. Google Play APP Store. Note: Some smartphones might not be able to download or install the APP properly due to compatibility issue. If you encounter any difficulties downloading or installing the APP, please use a different brand or model of smartphone. Note: Functions of the Gogoro Smartwheel APP are subject to change with subsequent updates, models or upgrades of Gogoro B01, and the latest version prevails. 2.5.2 Sign up or sign into the Gogoro Smartwheel APP After downloading and installing the Gogoro Smartwheel APP, open it. If you are a new user, tap Sign up and the APP will guide you through the process of creating a new Gogoro Smartwheel account. If you already have a Gogoro Smartwheel account, tap Sign in. 11 2.5.3 Pair the Gogoro B01 with your account Make sure your smartphone is connecting with internet, and Bluetooth is on. Launch Gogoro Smartwheel APP on smartphone. Once you have signed in the APP with your Gogoro account, follow the instruction of Scan the QR code on the rear hub, pair the Gogoro B01 with your phone and the APP:
account. 12 3. Unlock, Turn on and Ride 3.1 Unlock it and turn it on Use paired smartphone APP, long press to unlock and turn on Gogoro B01 When motor is on, it will flash LED to notify user. All settings and adjustments can only be controlled by smartphone APP. Ride like a normal bicycle, and the assistance kicks in. 3.2 Assist power adjustment 3.2.1 Electric assistance is triggered by pedaling The torque output is in proportion to your pedal input force. The harder you kick the pedal, the more torque will show up. 13 3.2.2 Assistance level adjustment You can adjust several assist level of power assist on APP. Swipe up to add more power. Swipe down to reduce power. The higher level gives you more and helps you conquer steep hills. The lower power assist level can be used for riding on flat roads when minimal assistance is needed and has less battery consumption. The lowest level will shut off the assist power, and you can still ride it like a normal bicycle. Note: Higher assist level results higher power consumption, so the mileage of assistance will be shorter. 14 Note: The range of assistance depends on users weight, riding pattern, slope and condition of the road, assist level etc.. Warning: Internal sensors might be affected by strong magnetic field. Please keep magnets away from the motor. 4. Turn off and Lock 4.1 Manually turn it off Please turn the Gogoro B01 off and lock it when you leave the bike, to minimize the risk of theft. Long press on the phone APP to turn off the Gogoro B01. When it is off, theres a resistance of turning the Gogoro B01, makes it hard to ride. The resistance is provided by an internal magnetic lock mechanism. User can disable the internal lock with APP. When charger is connected with the Gogoro B01, it also turns into Locked Mode. Note: The internal magnetic lock will provide certain resistance to make it harder to ride the bike. This anti-theft function is just a supplement, it cannot replace any real physical lock and good using habit. 15 When Gogoro B01 is not moving, theres no smartphone BLE link, for a period of time
(5 / 10 / 15 min / OFF, APP adjustable), Gogoro B01 enters Locked Mode. Default is OFF, user needs to enable it via phone APP. 4.2 Auto lock 5. Charging Always charge the battery to full level when B01 is not in use. Connect AC wall outlet and charging stand. Put charger on Gogoro B01 to initial charging. The LED on the charger should be green. The LED on the B01 should be on while charging, and off when charging is completed. Keep the charger connected with both B01 and AC wall outlet when B01 is not in use, in order to keep the battery healthy. Do not connect the charger with B01 only, without connecting to the AC wall outlet. If you do so, the battery will drain faster and the battery life might be affected. NEVER leave B01 on the charging stand without connecting to wall AC outlet, or the battery will drain faster than expected. Note: The operating temperature range of Gogoro B01 is 0c ~ 40c ,or it might become abnormal. 6. Hibernation Mode When Gogoro B01 battery level is too low, the system will activate hibernation mode to protect the battery. Under hibernation, B01 will no longer respond to APP command. Connect the charger to B01 to escape from hibernation mode and charge the battery. 7. Storage and Shipping Always connect Gogoro B01 to the charger and keep the battery at full level. When the battery level is under 10%, charge the battery within 1 days. Fully charge the battery before you ship it or store it for over 1 month, and charge the battery once per month, to keep the battery healthy. 8. Maintenance Proper service and maintenance ensure durability, reliability and safety of your Gogoro B01. Its recommended to take care of your bike by following the instructions below. 8.1 Check the following before every ride Make sure the tire pressure is within normal range, the recommended pressure is 515~790 KPa (i.e.75~115 psi or 5.1~7.9 bar) , which is also written on the sidewall of your tire. If the tire surface has any cracks, damage, excessive abrasion, object punctures or If the tension of the transmission belt is proper, and more details described in chapter attachments. 8.3.2. 17 Adjustment of the transmission belt needs special tools and knowledge and is not self-serviceable, please contact us on the Gogoro Smartwheel APP or website if necessary. If the batteries still have sufficient power for your trip. If the braking system is working normally. Check the wear of brake pads. Check appropriate spares, i.e. tires, tubes, and brake friction-components. Check and tighten screws if necessary. Make sure all components, screws, or any potentially loose parts, such as handlebar, stem, saddle, seatpost, and wheels, are installed and fastened with proper means and torque value. Check the front brake rotor thickness (Minimum thickness stated on the rotor). Check the wear indicators on rear rim. If the indicator disappears, please consult your local dealer, or contact Gogoro via the Gogoro Smartwheel APP or website, in order to replace the rear rim. In case of any abnormality or uncertainty, please contact Gogoro via the Gogoro Smartwheel APP or website if necessary. 8.2 Daily care and cleaning In order to prolong the battery life, keep the charger connected and charge the battery anytime when you are not using the Gogoro B01. If possible, park your vehicle indoors in dry, shaded and cool places. This will slow down the normal wear and tear of the bike caused by the sun and rain. Warning: Do not use any detergent or wax on brake and belt transmission system, to avoid damaging and cause danger. No lubrication is needed on this product. 8.3 Advanced adjustment The following procedures require advanced tools and technical knowledge. If you dont know how to proceed and have no specificed tools, please consult professional bicycle technician, or contact us via the Gogoro Smartwheel APP or website. 8.3.1 Saddle height / placement adjustment Adjust saddle height to fit your body geometry. Pry off the rubber cover. Use 2 mm hex wrench to remove the protection cover. Use 4 mm hex wrench to loosen the seatpost clamp screw, adjust the saddle height and tighten it. Do not pull the seatpost beyond the Minimum insertion limit mark. Tighten all the screws. Torque: 2 mm - NA / 5 mm - 9.2 Nm. 19 Adjust saddle placement to fit your body geometry. Use 5 mm hex wrench to loosen the screws underneath the saddle rails. Adjust position and angle of the saddle, then tighten the screws. Torque: 5 mm - 9.2 Nm. 8.3.2 Transmission belt tension adjustment Proper tension is essential for optimum operation of Gates Carbon Drive System. Use 5 mm hex wrench to loosen screws of dropouts (2 screws each side, Use 10 mm open-ended wrench to loosen flanged nuts of dropouts (1 flanged both sides). nuts each side, both sides). (1 bolt each side, both sides), and adjust the belt tension to 45-60Hz ( 35-45 lbs) via GATES CARBON DRIVE MOBILE APPS in a quiet environment. Torque: 2.5mm - NA / 5mm - 19.6 Nm / 10mm - 6 Nm Note: The tension recommendations are a good starting point, which may need to be adjusted higher or lower based on the rider size, gear ratio, and power placed on the pedals. 20 8.3.3 Brake lever setting Rotate the barrel adjuster on the lever to properly set the cable tension. When you pull the brake levers, they should be about 1 inches (3.8 cm) away from the grip on the handlebars. If the levers hit the handlebars when you pull them, the brake cables are too loose. 8.3.4 Torque values for threaded fasteners Handle bar: T45 Torx - 15 Nm. Seatpost clamp: 4mm hex - 10 Nm. Screw underneath the saddle: 4mm hex - 10 Nm. Front wheel axle (both sides): 6mm hex - 1.8 Nm. Rear wheel axle (both sides): 19mm open-end - 29.4 Nm. Crankset: Use 8 mm hex - 48 Nm. Front brake pads: 4mm hex - NA. Rear brake pads: 5mm hex - 5.9 Nm. 9. Troubleshooting Situations Possible reasons Solutions I cant install the pedal on the crank.
