EXPLICIT DEFINITIONS FCC INFORMATION ABOUT CE AND DOC INSTRUCTIONS IP ADVANCED RADIO SYSTEM IP501M WORD R WARNING!
CAUTION NOTE DEFINITION Personal injury, re hazard or electric shock may occur. Equipment damage may occur. If disregarded, inconvenience only. No risk of personal injury, re or electric shock. Thank you for choosing this Icom product. READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS carefully and completely before using this product. PRECAUTIONS Hereby, Icom Inc. declares that the versions of IP501M which have the CE symbol on the product, comply with the essential requirements of the Radio Equipment Directive, 2014/53/EU, and the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment Directive, 2011/65/EU. The full text of the EU declaration of conformity is available at the following internet address:
http://www.icom.co.jp/world/support About E-marking: Detailed installation notes for Icom mobile transceivers to be tted into vehicles are available. Please contact your Icom dealer or distributor. DISPOSAL The crossed-out wheeled-bin symbol on your product, literature, or packaging reminds you that in the European Union, all electrical and electronic products, batteries, and accumulators (rechargeable batteries) must be taken to designated collection locations at the end of their working life. Do not dispose of these products as unsorted municipal waste. Dispose of them according to the laws in your area. R WARNING! NEVER connect the transceiver to an AC outlet. This may pose a re hazard or result in an electric shock. R WARNING! NEVER operate the transceiver during a lightning storm. It may result in an electric shock, cause a re or damage the transceiver. Always disconnect the power source and antenna before a storm. R WARNING! NEVER place the transceiver where normal operation of the vehicle may be hindered or where it could cause bodily injury. CAUTION: NEVER connect the transceiver to a power source of more than 29 V DC. This could damage the transceiver. CAUTION: NEVER cut the DC power cable between the DC plug and fuse holder. If an incorrect connection is made after cutting, the transceiver might be damaged. CAUTION: Con rm that all connectors and jacks are dry and clean before attachment. Exposing them to dust or water will result in serious damage to the transceiver. CAUTION: The transceiver will become hot when operating continuously for long periods. DO NOT place or leave the transceiver in areas with temperatures below 10C (14F) or above 60C (140F), or in areas subject to direct sunlight, such as the dashboard. DO NOT operate the transceiver without running the vehicles engine. The vehicles battery will quickly run out when the transceiver transmits while the vehicles engine is OFF. DO NOT place or leave the transceiver in excessively dusty environments. DO NOT place the transceiver against walls. Otherwise heat dissipation will be obstructed. DO NOT use harsh solvents such as Benzine or alcohol when cleaning, as they damage the transceivers surfaces. KEEP the transceiver away from the heavy rain, and never immerse it in the water. The transceiver meets IP54*
requirements for dust-protection and splash resistance. However, once the transceiver has been dropped, dust protection and splash resistance cannot be guaranteed due to the fact that the transceiver may be cracked, or the waterproof seal damaged, and so on.

L Only the VS-3 headset performance is guaranteed as of August 2019. The Bluetooth function may not be usable, depending on the presetting. Ask your dealer for details. The communication range of Bluetooth is approximately 10 m (33 ft). L May vary, depending on the environment in which the device operates. Although you can enter up to 6 Bluetooth devices in the transceiver device list, it is recommended that you pair only one device at a time. Electromagnetic Interference When you use a Bluetooth device, pay attention to the following:
Bluetooth devices operate in the 2.4 GHz band that is also used by other appliances, such as Wireless LAN products, microwave ovens, RFID systems, amateur radio stations, and so on. When using a Bluetooth device near such devices, interference may occur, causing a decrease in communication speed, and an unstable connection. In such case, keep the Bluetooth devices away from the other appliances, or stop using those devices. Bringing the Bluetooth device and the transceiver closer together also improves communication. Bluetooth headset
(Example: Optional VS-3) IP501M Bluetooth About the VS-3 Bluetooth headset When you connect an optional VS-3 Bluetooth headset to the transceiver, you can wirelessly transmit and receive the headset audio. The VS-3 has a [PTT] switch, so you can transmit in the same way as using the transceivers [PTT] switch. The [FWD], [RWD], and [PLAY] keys on the VS-3 are disabled while using the headset with the IP501M. If the headset does not work correctly, even if the power is ON, push [RESET] with a pin to force power OFF. Microphone
