As with your car battery, how you use this battery has a significant impact on its lifespan. With proper use and treatment, a lead-acid battery can last for years. Here are some recommendations for getting the longest life from the internal battery. GENERAL USAGE FULLY CHARGE THE BATTERY BEFORE USING IT. CHARGE THE BATTERY COMPLETELY AFTER EACH USE. AVOID COMPLETELY DRAINING THE BATTERY. You may leave the unit plugged in for up to two weeks. For maximum life, drain the battery 80% once a month. Avoid storing in high temperatures and moist places. For long-term storage, periodically recharge the battery. If you do not charge the battery for six months, it may not charge. As the battery nears the end of its life, it may lose its ability to recharge. If this occurs, contact your local authorized ION Audio service center. Auxuliary input: This stereo 1/8 input can be used to connect a CD player, MP3 player, or other audio source. Bluetooth: The Paired LED will be lit when a device is paired to TAILGATER. This LED will not be lit when TAILGATER is first powered on (unless it was previously paired with a device). Press the Disconnect button to disconnect a connected Bluetooth device. Master Volume Control: This knob controls the master volume of the TAILGATER. Radio Selector: This switch sets the radio to AM or FM or turns the radio off. (Note: This switch does not turn the unit's power off just the radio.) LCD: Displays the current radio station. Tuner: Use these buttons to search for a radio station. To
"scan" (jump to the next available station), hold this down for a few seconds until it starts to seek a station. Note: Unit will remember the last station you were on and start at that station when you power off and power on again. Power LED: Indicates whether TAILGATER is on or off. Dock Charge: Connect iPad/iPod touch/iPhone here to charge it. iPod Cradle: Place iPad/iPod touch/iPhone here to be held by TAILGATER. 13 12 14 15

Antenna: Adjust this telescoping FM antenna to get the best radio reception. 12. Power Cable Input (IEC): Insert the included power cable here to charge the unit. Note that the TAILGATER can run off the power adapter while it simultaneously charges the battery. The charge indicator illuminates when the battery is charging. 13. Voltage Selector*: This must be set to the proper voltage setting for your location. To change its setting, only remove *one* screw of the cover and slide it aside to expose the selector. 14. Power ON/OFF Switch: Turns TAILGATER on or off. Please note that while TAILGATER is connected to a power source, it does not need to be powered on to charge the battery. 15. Battery Level Indicator: While the unit is powered ON, these four lights indicate the power left in the battery. The sound is distorted at high volumes. The sound is distorted: Try lowering the volume control of your sound source or music instrument. Also, try to reduce the overall volume of TAILGATER. There is too much bass: Try adjusting the tone or EQ control on your sound source to lower the bass level. This will allow you to play the music louder before clipping (distortion) occurs. There is a high-pitched whistling noise when using microphones: This is probably feedback. Point the microphones away from the speaker. PAIRING A BLUETOOTH DEVICE 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Turn on your Bluetooth device. Power on TAILGATER and it will automatically go into pairing mode to search for Bluetooth devices. Navigate to your Bluetooth devices setup screen, find ION Audio Speaker and connect. TAILGATER LED will light up solid when it is 'paired'. To disconnect pairing, press the Disconnect button on TAILGATER. To connect to another Bluetooth device, repeat steps 3-4. Note: You can pair with a smartphone, iPhone, iPad, computer, or Android*** device equipped with Bluetooth that supports A2DP. ALL PRODUCTS: inMusic Brands, Inc. ("inMusic") warrants to the original purchaser that Alesis products and all other accessories are free from defects in material and workmanship under normal use and service for the period commencing upon the date of purchase from an authorized Alesis dealer and continuing for the following period of time after that date for one (1) year. inMusic warrants factory-refurbished merchandise to be free of material and operational defects for a period of ninety (90) days from the original date of retail sale. This refurbished merchandise warranty is not transferable. 2. What is not covered? This Limited Warranty is conditioned upon proper use of the product by the purchaser. This Limited Warranty does not cover:
Damage caused by improper installation or improper connection to any peripheral Damage caused by an external electrical fault Damage from use of parts not manufactured or sold by Alesis Product purchased from anyone other than an Alesis authorized dealer Modifications to product not approved in writing by Alesis Equipment that has the serial number removed or made illegible Normal cosmetic and mechanical wear Damage or loss during transit to an Authorized Alesis Repair Center Units that are purchased and/or located outside of the continental USA 3. What are inMusic's obligations? During the applicable warranty period, Alesis will repair or replace, at Alesis's sole option, without charge to the purchaser, any defective component part of the product. To obtain service under this Limited Warranty, purchaser must first contact Alesis and obtain a return authorization number ("RA#"). Purchaser must then return the product to Alesis in an adequate container for shipping, accompanied by purchaser's sales receipt or comparable proof of sale showing the date of purchase, the serial number of the product, and the seller's name and address. To obtain an RA# and assistance on where to return the product, contact Alesis customer service at 401-658-5760. Upon receipt, Alesis will repair or replace the defective products. Alesis may, at Alesis's sole option, use rebuilt, reconditioned, or new parts or components when repairing any product or replace a product with a rebuilt, reconditioned, new or comparable product. Repaired products will be warranted for a period equal to the remainder of the original Limited Warranty on the original product or for 90 days, whichever is longer. All replaced parts, components, boards, and equipment become the property of Alesis. 4 RETURN INFORMATION A Return Authorization number must be obtained from your local Alesis Representative. For your representative go to alesis.com. A copy of the original sales receipt must also be included for the equipment to be repaired under warranty. The faulty equipment must be packed in its original packaging. One additional outer layer of packaging must be included to ensure product safety. Failures to do so may inadequately protect the equipment in transit and, therefore, jeopardize the customer's warranty. Alesis will not accept C.O.D. shipments and no call tags will be issued for merchandise return. Alesis will not return repaired merchandise to customers by priority service, unless by written request at the customer's cost. Requests must be submitted in writing with merchandise returned. All the slide faders are subject to wear. Excessive force can wear out the fader quickly. User replaceable slide faders are not a warranted item. Never use spray cleaners on the slide controls. Residues cause excessive dirt build-up and this will void your warranty. In normal use slide controls can last for many years. If they malfunction (usually because of a dirty or dusty environment) consult a professional technician. Always make sure that AC power is OFF while making any connections. Use appropriate cables throughout your system. Do not use excessively long cables (i.e. over 32 feet /
10 meters). Be sure plugs and jacks are tightly mated. Loose connections can cause hum, noise or intermittents that could easily damage your speakers. Make the input and output connections with readily available low-capacitance stereo cables. Quality cable makes a big difference in audio fidelity and punch. See your Alesis dealer or an electronics or audio specialist store if you are not sure which cables to use. Never attempt to make any adjustments other than those described in this manual, or repairs. Take the unit to your dealer or to an authorized Alesis Service Center. Always remember: "TURN AMPS ON LAST AND OFF FIRST." Begin with master faders or volume controls on minimum and the amplifier gain/input control(s) down. Wait 8 to 10 seconds before turning up the volume. This prevents transients which may cause severe speaker damage. Use restraint when operating controls. Try to move them slowly. Rapid adjustments could damage equipment due to amplifier clipping. Avoid amplifier "clipping" at all costs: this occurs when the red LEDs (usually on the front panel of most professional power amplifiers) start flashing. "Clipping" is when the power amplifier is distorting and working beyond its limits. Amplifier distortion is THE major cause of speaker failure. To prevent fire or shock hazard, do not expose the unit to rain or moisture. Never place cans of beer, soda, glasses of water or anything wet near or on top of the unit!
Headphone outputs can be set to levels which can cause damage to your ears. Use caution. This unit may contain a microcomputer for signal processing and control functions. In very rare situations, severe interference, noise from an external source, or static electricity may cause it to lockup. In the unlikely event that this should happen, turn off the unit, wait at least five seconds, and then turn it back on again. Under rare circumstances, if this product is exposed to electromagnetic interference during use, there may be a slight drop in signal-to-noise ratio. Vous devez faire parvenir une copie de la facture originale du produit pour lequel vous demandez une rparation sous garantie. Le produit dfectueux pour lequel vous demandez une rparation sous garantie doit tre emball dans son emballage original. Pour assurer la scurit du produit, ajoutez un emballage supplmentaire. dfaut de respecter cette condition, le produit pourrait tre inadquatement protg pour le transport et pourrait compromettre la garantie du client. LE FABRICANT n'accepte aucune livraison contre remboursement et aucune tiquette de rappel ne sera dlivre pour le retour de marchandise.
