(for products purchased in the U.S.A.) 1. What is covered and for how long?

All Products: ION Audio warrants to the original purchaser that ION Audio products and all other accessories are free from defects in material and workmanship under normal use and service for the period commencing upon the date of purchase from an authorized ION Audio dealer and continuing for the following period of time after that date for ninety (90) days. ION Audio warrants factory-refurbished merchandise to be free of material and operational defects for a period of ninety (90) days from the original date of retail sale. This refurbished merchandise warranty is not transferable. 2. What is not covered? This Limited Warranty is conditioned upon proper use of the product by the purchaser. This Limited Warranty does not cover: (a) damage caused by improper installation or improper connection to any peripheral; (b) damage caused by an external electrical fault; (c) damage from use of parts not manufactured or sold by ION Audio; (d) product purchased from anyone other than an ION Audio authorized dealer; (e) modifications to product not approved in writing by ION Audio; (f) equipment that has the serial number removed or made illegible; (g) normal cosmetic and mechanical wear; (h) damage or loss during transit to an Authorized ION Audio Repair Center; or (i) units that are purchased and/or located outside of the continental USA. 3. What are ION Audios obligations? During the applicable warranty period, ION Audio will repair or replace, at ION Audios sole option, without charge to the purchaser, any defective component part of the product. To obtain service under this Limited Warranty, purchaser must first contact ION Audio and obtain a return merchant authorization (RMA) number. Purchaser must then return the product to ION Audio in an adequate container for shipping, accompanied by purchasers sales receipt or comparable proof of sale showing the date of purchase, the serial number of the product, and the sellers name and address. To obtain an RMA number and assistance on where to return the product, contact ION Audio customer service at 401-658-3743. Upon receipt, ION Audio will repair or replace the defective products. ION Audio may, at ION Audios sole option, use rebuilt, reconditioned, or new parts or components when repairing any product or replace a product with a rebuilt, reconditioned, new or comparable product. Repaired products will be warranted for a period equal to the remainder of the original Limited Warranty on the original product or for 90 days, whichever is longer. All replaced parts, components, boards, and equipment become the property of ION Audio. If ION Audio determines that any product is not covered by this Limited Warranty, purchaser must pay all parts, shipping, and labor charges for the repair or return of such product. 4. What are the limits on ION Audios liabilities? THE WARRANTIES GIVEN IN THIS LIMITED WARRANTY, TOGETHER WITH ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES COVERING ION AUDIO PRODUCTS, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION ANY WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ARE LIMITED TO THE DURATION OF THIS LIMITED WARRANTY. 4 Return Information A return merchant authorization number must be obtained from your local ION Audio representative. For your representative go to ionaudio.com. A copy of the original sales receipt must also be included for the equipment to be repaired under warranty. The faulty equipment must be packed in its original packaging. One additional outer layer of packaging must be included to ensure product safety. Failure to do so may inadequately protect the equipment in transit and therefore jeopardize the warranty. ION Audio will not accept COD shipments and no call tags will be issued for merchandise return. ION Audio will not return repaired merchandise to customers by priority service except by written request at the customers cost. Requests must be submitted in writing with returned merchandise. The defective ION Audio equipment should be sent freight prepaid with the return merchant authorization number printed clearly on the outer packaging and original sales receipt enclosed to your local service center. Important Safety Instructions 1. Read and keep these instructions. Heed all warnings and follow all Instructions. 2. Do not use this apparatus near water (if applicable). 3. Clean only with dry cloth. 4. Do not block any ventilation openings (if applicable). Install in accordance with the manufacturers instructions. Do not install this equipment in a confined or boxed-in space such as a bookcase or similar unit, and maintain good ventilation conditions. The ventilation should not be impeded by covering the ventilation openings with items such as newspaper, tablecloths, curtains, etc. 5. Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat. Do not place exposed flame sources such as lighted candles on the apparatus. 6. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding-type plug (if applicable). A polarized plug has two blades with one wider than the other. A grounding type plug has two blades and a third grounding prong. The wide blade or the third prong is provided for your safety. If the provided plug does not fit into your outlet, consult an electrician for replacement of the obsolete outlet. 7. (If applicable) Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched particularly at plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from the apparatus. 8. Only use attachment/accessories specified by the manufacturer. 9. Use only the cart, stand, tripod, bracket or table specified by the manufacturer, or sold with the apparatus (if applicable). When a cart is used, use caution when moving the cart/apparatus combination to avoid injury from tip-over. 10. Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long periods of time. 11. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Servicing is required when the apparatus has been damaged in any way, such as power-supply cord or plug is damaged, liquid has been spilled or objects have fallen into the apparatus, the apparatus has been exposed to rain or moisture, does not operate normally, or has been dropped. 12. Power Sources (if applicable): This product should be connected to a power supply only of the type described in these operating instructions, or as marked on the unit. 13. Internal/External Voltage Selectors (if applicable): Internal or external voltage selector switches, if any, should only be reset and re-equipped with a proper plug for alternative voltage by a qualified service technician. Do not attempt to alter this yourself. 14. Water and Moisture (if applicable): This product should be kept away from direct contact with liquids. The apparatus shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing and that no objects filled with liquids, such as vases, shall be placed on the apparatus. 15. Caution (if applicable): Danger of explosion if battery is incorrectly replaced. Replace only with the same or equivalent type. Batteries (a battery pack or an installed battery) shall not be exposes to excessive heat such as sunshine, fire, etc. 16. (If applicable) Where the mains plug or an appliance coupler is used as the disconnect device, the disconnect device shall remain readily operable. 17. Protective earthing terminal (if applicable): The apparatus should be connected to a mains socket outlet with a protective earthing connection. Note: Maximum range will be achieved when using devices with Bluetooth 4.0. Stereo-Link: Linking Two Speakers Together Wirelessly 1. Power on both Surfs. Note: In order to use Stereo-Link Mode, you cannot have a Bluetooth device connected. If one speaker is connected to a Bluetooth device, break the connection by pressing and holding the Bluetooth button. 2. With no Bluetooth device connected (blue LEDs on both speakers will blink), on one Surf press and hold and + until you hear a short 3-tone melody; repeat this for the second Surf. The melody will indicate the Surfs are searching for each other to link as their blue LEDs begin to blink fast. 3. Wait about 10-30 seconds for the Surfs to find each other. Once linked, one Surf will say Paired (if the voice prompts are enabled). Now that the two speakers are linked, one speakers blue LED will be solid, while the other speakers blue LED will blink slowly to indicate its ready to pair the stereo-

linked speakers to your Bluetooth device (e.g., your phone). 4. When the Surfs are wirelessly linked to play in stereo, on your Bluetooth device turn on Bluetooth, and connect to SURF. 5. Once your smartphone is paired, you will hear Paired (if the voice prompts are enabled) and audio can now play out of both speakers in stereo. In Stereo-Link Mode: UI Controls on both speakers will be active. To exit Stereo-Link Mode, press and hold and + until the speaker goes back into pairing mode saying Ready to Pair. In Stereo-Link Mode, press Power to turn off both speakers. Note: If a Surf is in Stereo-Link Mode when you power it off, it will be in Stereo-Link the next time you power it on. That means if two Surfs are linked when you power them off, they will automatically link when you power them on as long as they are in close range of each other and powered on within 15 seconds of each other. Note: If a Surf is in Stereo-Link Mode when you power it off, when you power it back on, it will revert back seconds.
