As with your car battery, how you use this battery has a significant impact on its lifespan. With proper use and treatment, a lead-acid battery can last for years. Here are some recommendations for getting the longest life from the internal battery. General Usage Storage Repair Disposal Fully charge the battery before using the speaker. Charge the battery completely after each use. For best product longevity, do not store at exceedingly hot (greater than 90 F /
32 C) or exceedingly cold (less than 32 F / 0 C) temperatures. It is acceptable to leave your speaker plugged in. This will not overcharge the battery. If you leave the battery level low and do not charge it for 6 months, it may permanently lose capacity. If the battery fails to charge, check your fuse near the power cable input. If your fuse is intact and it still will not charge, contact ION Audio at ionaudio.com. Bring the unit to a recycling center or dispose of in accordance with local ordinances. Important!
Extension Cord Warnings:
!
Keep all electrical cords in good condition. Do not use worn, bare, or frayed cords, which can cause electrical shock when Raptor is connected to wall power. If you must use an extension cord, use only grounded extension cords that are rated for outdoor use and equipment with a third-wire ground. Avoid using excessively long extension cords, which can cause voltage drops, causing the cord to overheat. When using long extension cords with Raptor, use a heavier cord with a larger wire size to reduce the voltage drop (the longer or thinner the cord, the greater the voltage drop). North America: Do not use Raptor with an IEC input cable rated for less than 15 A. EU: Do not use Raptor with an IEC input cable rated for less than 10 A. 3 Outdoor Use and Care Though Raptor is water-resistant and able to tolerate splashing water, please review the tips below to get the best performance from Raptor:
Raptor must only be used outdoors with power outlets or extension cords that are rated for outdoor use. Bring Raptor indoors during extreme weather. Please do not place Raptor in standing water. Please do not connect the power cable to Raptor in a wet environment. Make sure the power input, power cable, and power outlet are all completely dry before making any connections. WARNING: Keep any non-water-resistant devices (phones, music players, etc.) in a dry place where they will not be affected by water and cause a risk of electric shock. Setup 1.
If you are unsure of how or where to dispose of a battery, refer to your local ordinances for the proper location, method, etc. Alkaline batteries & lithium button cell batteries: You can safely dispose of alkaline and lithium button cell batteries with normal household waste. They do not pose a health or environmental risk during normal use or disposal. (Alkaline batteries are composed primarily of common metals like steel, zinc, and manganese.) Do not dispose of large amounts of alkaline or lithium button cell batteries in a group. Used batteries are often not completely dead. Grouping them together can bring these live batteries into contact with one another, creating safety risks. To avoid this, insulate each battery with tape or other non-conductive material to ensure it does not discharge. Proven cost-effective and environmentally safe recycling processes are not yet universally available for alkaline and lithium button cell batteries. Some communities offer recycling or collection of these batteries. For more information, refer to your local ordinances or contact your local government. Lead-acid batteries: Dispose of lead-acid batteries by bringing them to an electronic waste center or recycling center, or dispose of them in accordance with your local ordinances. (Rechargeable lead-acid batteries are the same type used in automobiles and should be disposed of in a similar fashion.)
