The Slate by iskn Important Information Guide SAFETY MANUAL - English This safety manual contains important operating, recycling, safety, and warranty information for your Slate device (hereinafter the Slate or the Product), purchased by a corporate or individual Customer (hereinafter the Customer or you) from the ISKN SAS company (hereinafter ISKN or we). An individual Customer means any natural person acting for purposes that do not fall within the scope of his trade, industry, craft, or profession. This safety manuals provisions apply to all Products purchased by the Customer from ISKN on the website www.iskn.co or at a physical point of sale. In order to avoid injury, please read all safety information and instructions below before using the Slate. Operating instructions for the Slate and the latest version of the information guide can be found at: www.iskn.co Safety Instructions Safety Information The Slate complies with temperature limits for exposed surfaces, as defined by the international standard for safety of information technology equipment (IEC 60950-1: 2005
(2nd Edition) +/A1:2009). All equipment connected to the Slate must be SELV (Safety Extra-Low Voltage) and Limited Power Sources, as defined by chapters 2.2 and 2.5 of standards IEC 60950-1:2005+/A1:2010 and EN 60950-1:2006+/A11:2009+/A1:2010+/A12:2011. Charge the Slate only via a USB port. Do not modify this Product or its accessories in any way. Any unauthorized modification may compromise your safety or the systems regulatory compliance and performance. Do not attempt to replace the Products battery. 2 3 Operating Instructions Please read and save these operating instructions, heed all warnings, and follow all instructions. ISKN shall not be liable for any claim if you fail to comply with these operating instructions. 1. Do not use the Product near water or moisture. 2. Clean only with a dry cloth. 3. Do not install the Product near any heat sources, such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or any other appliances (including amplifiers) that produce heat. 4. Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched, especially at plugs or convenience receptacles and where it exits the Product. 5. Use only those accessories specified by the manufacturer. 6. Unplug the Product during storms or during long periods of non-use. 7. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Servicing is required when the Product has been damaged in any way (if the power cord or plug is damaged; liquids spill on the Product; objects fall on the Product; the Product is exposed to rain or moisture; the Product malfunctions; the Product is dropped, etc.). 8. Operating altitude: 0 to 2,000 meters (0 to 6,500 feet) It is extremely important to follow these operating conditions. For best performance, keep away from any magnetic interference, such as magnets, motors, speakers, and telephones. The Slate is not designed to function on transportation vehicles (trains, cars, planes) due to the significant presence of electromagnetic waves. 4 9. Cleaning the Slate To clean the exterior of the Product, first unplug the cord, and then wipe the surface with a dry cloth. Do not use detergents, abrasive cleaners, or other cleaning products, which may scratch the surface and hurt performance. Do not get the device wet. 10. Disposal and Recycling Electronic equipment and batteries should not be included as household waste but should be left at an appropriate collection point for recycling. This helps prevent potential negative consequences for the environment and human health. Check local regulations by contacting your local city office, your household waste disposal service, the shop where you purchased the product or contact iskn. Keep out of reach of children under 3. 5 Applicable Regulations This device complies with FCC and IC radiation exposure limits set forth for general population. This device must not be co-located or operating in conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter. This radio transmitter can function with the maximum (or less) antenna type and gain approved by Industry Canada for the transmitter. To reduce the risk of radio interference with other users, choose an antenna type and gain such that the equivalent isotropically radiated power (EIRP) does not exceed the intensity required to establish satisfactory communication. This product is in compliance with the RSS of Industry Canada and Part 15 of the FCC rules regarding license-exempt radio equipment. Software Use Agreement Use of the Slate shall constitute acceptance of the terms and conditions of ISKN-licensed software, available at www.iskn.co/legal, which you agree to be bound by and which you acknowledged upon purchase of the Product. Warranty Warranty terms and conditions are indicated in ISKNs general terms and conditions, which can be found at www.iskn.co. Liability With regard to corporate Customers only, ISKN shall not be liable for any indirect damages resulting from use of the Product. Indirect damages mean any loss of profit, income, or data, or commercial loss. With regard to corporate Customers only, ISKNs total liability shall not exceed the claim amount for any direct damages sustained by the corporate Customer. ISKN shall not be liable if the Product and the Customers equipment are not compatible. The Customer was informed of this prior to ordering equipment compatible with the Product. ISKN shall not be liable for any incorrect information provided by the Customer when placing an order. Ne pas utiliser de dtergents, de nettoyants abrasifs ou d'autres produits de nettoyage, qui peuvent rayer la surface, et nuire la performance. Ne pas mouiller l'appareil. 10.
