ChargingtheBattery Duringcharging,thebatteryindicatoronthephoneisathundericon.Ifthe deviceisswitchedoffduringthecharge,therewillstillbeachargeindicationon thescreenthatshowsthephoneisstillbeingcharged.Ifthedeviceisoverused whenthebatteryislow,itmighttakesometimetoappearthechargingicon. Whenthebatteryindicatoronthescreensays'fullycharged',thenthundericon willdisappear,whichmeansthecompletionofcharging.Ifthephoneisswitched offduringcharging,thescreenwillhavea'fullycharged'scene.Itgenerallytakes 4hourstochargethebattery.Duringcharging,thebattery,thedeviceandthe chargerwillgethot.Thisisnormal. ConnectingtoNetwork SIMCard InsertvalidSIMcard(SubscriberIdentityModule)beforeusingthedevice. AllinformationrelatedtothereachofthenetworkisrecordedinthechipofSIM card,includingthename,phonenumberandmessagesstoredintheSIMcard contacts.IncaseoflosingordamagingSIMcardinformation,usersshouldavoid touchingthemetaltouchingsideandkeepSIMcardawayfromelectricaland magneticfield. InsertingandRemovingtheSIMCard Switchoffthedevice,andremovethebatteryandotherexternalpowersupply. InserttheSIMcardintothecardslot. PleaseswitchoffthephoneandremovethebatterybeforeremovingtheSIM card. Warning:DamagescouldhappentoyourSIMcardifthedeviceisnotswitchedoff 9 whentakingoutoftheSIMcard. InsertingandRemovingtheMemoryCard Switchoffthehandset. Insertthememorycardintotheslot. Otherwise,itmaydamageyourmemorycard. 10 SwitchON/OFF DoalongpresstheSwitchon/offkeytoswitchon/offthephone. IfinsertingtheSIMcard,thescreenwillshowthenotesinthefollowingorder whenthephoneisswitchedon:
TypeinPINifyouhavealreadysettheSIMcode. SeAKAIhthehandsetwillbeseAKAIhingforpropernetworkconnection. UnlockSIMCard Toavoidillegaluse,theSIMcardisencipheredwithPIN(PersonalIdentification Number)asaprotection.WhenthisfunctionisONandyouhavealreadysetaPIN code,youneedtotypeinPINcodeeverytime,thehandsetisswitchedonin ordertounlockSIMcardandusethehandset. YoucanturnofftheSIMPINcode.Yetinthissituation,theSIMcardcan'tprevent illegaluse. InputPINcode,pressarrowheadicontoerasetypingerrorandpressOKtoend typing.Forexample,ifthePINcodeissetas1234,thentype"1234"thenpress OK. TheSIMcardwillbelockedifyoutypeinwrongcodeforthreetimescontinuously. ThehandsetwillinformyoutotypeinPUKcode. Attention:YournetworkproviderwillsetastandardPINcode(fourtoeight numbers)foryourSIMcard.Itisrecommendedthatyouchangethecodeintoa personalcodeassoonaspossible. WhentheSIMcardissuccessfullyunlocked,thehandsetwillautomatically seAKAIhforavailablenetwork(thelockscreenshowsseAKAIhing).Thehandset willshowtheinformationofthenetworkprovider;thestatusbarwillshowthe signalstrengthandthenetworkconditiononcethehandsetissuccessfully connectedtoanetwork. 11 0. SkillsIntroduction 0.1 Fingergesture Tap When you want to type using the keyboard, select items onscreen such as application and settings icons, or press onscreen buttons, simply tap them with yourfinger. Pressandhold To open the available options for an item (e.g. contact or link in a web page), simplypressandholdtheitem. Swipeorslide Toswipeorslidemeanstoquicklydragyourfingerverticallyorhorizontallyacross thescreenoropticaltrackball. Drag Press and hold your finger with some pressure before you start to drag. While dragging,donotreleaseyourfingeruntilyouhavereachedthetargetposition. Flick Flickingthescreenissimilartoswiping,exceptthatyouneedtoswipeyourfinger inlight,quickerstrokes.Thisfingergestureisalwaysinaverticaldirection,suchas whenflickingthecontactsormessagelist. Rotate For most screens, you can automatically change the screen orientation from portraittolandscapebyturningthephonesideways.Whenenteringtext,youcan turn the phone sideways to bring up a bigger keyboard. Refer to the Settings chapterformoredetails. Pinch Forsomeapplications,likePhotosorthewebbrowser,youcanpinchthescreen using 2 fingers (for example, thumb and index fingers) to zoom in or zoom out whenviewingapictureorawebpage. EnteringyourPIN IfyourSIMcardispresetwithaPIN(personalidentificationnumber),youwillbe promptedtoenterthePINtoproceed. Enter the SIM PIN, and then tap OK.Most SIM cards are preset with a PIN
(personalidentificationnumber)thatisprovidedbyyourmobileoperator.When prompted,enterthepresetPIN,andthentapEnter.Ifyou enterthe wrongPIN threetimes,theSIMcardisblocked.Ifthishappens,youcanunblockitwiththe PUK(PINUnblockingKey)obtainedfromyourmobileoperator. 12 0.2 LockScreen&HomeScreen TheLockscreencanprotectyourphoneagainstaccidentaltouchtoperformthe operation you dont want. In Lock screen, you can drag the circle ball at the bottomofthephonescreenontotheunlockicontounlockandintoHomescreen. You can also press the loudspeaker icon and swipe across the screen to make phonesilent. Tips: Icons at the bottom of the screen gives you quick access to Phone history andMessages.Youcandragthecircleballontoeachicontoopenthemquickly. 0.2.1 MainHomeScreen The Home screen provides you with a weather clock that shows the time and weatherofyourcurrentlocation. Taptherespectiveitemtoopentheassociatedapplication.TheHomescreenalso lets you add the items you want and need on the Home screen. Add items like application icons, shortcuts, folders, and widgets to give you instant access to informationandapplications. 0.2.2 ExtendedHomescreen The Home screen extends beyond the screen width to provide more space for adding icons, widgets, and more. There are 4 additional screens apart from the mainHomescreen. 13 0.3 HomeScreenSetting 0.3.1 Changingwallpaper To changing your wallpaper, you can informationbelow:
follow the i. Press and hold the blank place on one home screen,therewillbeaselectionbox. ii. SelectwallpaperfromGallery/Livewallpaper/
iii. Wallpapers/VideoWallpaper. If you want to change wallpaper to a photo, tap Gallerytoselectaphotothatyouhavetakenusing the camera or copied to your storage card. Crop thephotoandthentapSave. iv. Tap Wallpaper to choose from preset wallpapers andthentapSetwallpaper. 0.3.2 AddingawidgettoHomescreen Awideselectionofwidgetsisavailableforyoutochoose from, such as Calendar, Music, Photo Album, Friend Stream,andmore. i. Enter the main menu and slide to the right. Slide leftandrighttoseekfortheproperwidget. ii. Press and hold the widget to move to the main screentoyouwanttoputitin. 0.3.3 AddingapplicationiconsandothershortcutsonHomescreen PlaceapplicationiconsonyourHomescreentoopenapplicationsquicker.Youcan also add shortcuts to settings and specific information such as a bookmarked webpage,someonesphonenumber,amusicplaylist,routedirections,andmany other items, to your Home screen. The shortcuts available depend on the applicationsthatareinstalledonyourphone. i. Enterthemainmenuandslideleftandrighttoseekfortheproperwidget andshortcuts. ii. PressandholdonthewidgetorshortcuttomovetothepartoftheHome screenwheretheresspacetoaddanewshortcut. iii. Toaddanapplicationicon,tapProgramandthenselectanapplication. Tips:ToaddanapplicationiconontheHomescreen,enterAllPrograms,andthen pressandholdanapplicationicon.Withoutliftingyourfinger,dragtheicontoan 14 emptyareaontheHomescreen,andthenreleaseit. 0.3.4 AddingfoldersonyourHomescreen UsefolderstogrouprelatedapplicationsandothershortcutstokeepyourHome screentidyandorganized.Youcanalsoaddinformationfoldersthatshowupto dateinformationsuchasBluetoothreceivedfiles,yourFacebookphonebook,and more. 0.3.4.1 Creatinganewfolderandaddingitemstoit i. Pressandholdanapplicationiconorashortcutthatyouwanttomoveto another icon to create a new folder. The phone then vibrates. Dont lift yourfinger. ii. Simply tap the folder to open it so you can access the applications and shortcutsinsidethefolder. 0.3.4.2 Renameafolder Dothefollowsyoucanrenameafolder:
Tapthefoldertoopenit,tapatthebottomofthefolder.Enteranewfoldername andthentapOK. 0.4 Rearrangingorremovingwidgetsandicons Rearrange the widgets and icons on your Home screen to give room for adding moreitemstotheHomescreen.Youcanalsoremovewidgetsandiconsthatyou dontfrequentlyuse. 0.4.1 Movingawidgetoricon i. Press and hold the widget or icon you want to move. The phone vibrates andyoullseeablueboxaroundthewidgetoricon.Dont releaseyour finger. ii. Dragthewidgetoricontoanewlocationonthescreen.Pauseattheleftor right edge of the screen to drag the widget or icon onto another Home screenpanel. iii. Whenthewidgetoriconiswhereyouwantit,releaseyourfinger.Ifyouve releasedyourfingerbutamessageshowsthattheresnospacetoplace the widget or icon, drag it right or left again to another Home screen panel. 0.4.2 Removingawidgetoricon i. Pressandholdthewidgetoriconyouwanttoremove.Thephonevibrates andyoullseeacrossonthetopofthescreen.Dontreleaseyourfinger. ii. Drag the widget or icon to the top of the phone. The Phone button then changesintotheRemovebuttonandturnsred. iii. Whenthewidgetoriconalsoturnsred,releaseyourfinger. 0.5 Checkingnotifications Notificationiconsonthestatusbarreportthearrivalofnewmessages,calendar events,alarmssetandongoingsettingssuchaswhencallforwardingisonorthe current call status. You can open the Notifications panel to open the message, reminder,oreventnotificationandseethemobileoperatorname. 15 0.5.1 OpeningtheNotificationspanel Whennewnotificationiconsdisplaysinthestatusbar,pressandholdthestatus bar,thenslideyourfingerdownwardtoopentheNotificationspanel. If you have several notifications, you can scroll down the screen to view more notifications. 0.5.2 ClosingtheNotificationspanel Simplymoveyourfingertothebottomofthescreenandslideyourfingerup. 0.6 Adjustingtheringervolume PresstheVOLUMEUPorVOLUMEDOWNbuttonsontherightpanelofthephone to adjust the ringer volume to your desired level. The Ringer volume window appearsonthescreentodisplaythevolumelevels. 1. Phone 1.1 Phonecalls 1.1.1 Makingacall Thereareseveralconvenientmethodstomakeacall fromyourphone. 1.1.1.1 CallingusingtheDialer You can tap phone button at the bottom of the screentoenterthedialerscreen.InDialer,whenyou input some number, you have two ways to select makeacall. i. Directly press call on the keyboard, and then choosewhichSIMcardyouwanttouse. ii. You can slide to the right to choose the numberinyourcallhistory. Note: If you only one SIM card inserted, you cant useanotherSIMcardtomakeacall.WhenoneSIM cardisacall,anotheristemporarilyunavailable. 1.1.1.2 Callingaphonenumberinatextmessage Whileviewingatextmessage,youcanplaceacalltoanumberthatisinthebody ofthemessage. i. Tapthemessagewiththephonenumber. ii. OntheSelectactionscreen,tapthenumberyouwanttocall. iii. Thedialerscreenthenopens,withthephonenumberautomaticallyfilled inandreadytobedialed.Toplacethecall,presscallandselectSIM1or SIM2byyourself. 1.1.1.3 Callingaphonenumberincontacts Entercontactslistandselectacontacts.Inthecontactinformationdetailsscreen, 16 tapcallbuttonbehindthenumberyouwanttocall. 1.1.1.4 MakinganEmergencyCall On the Phone screen, dial the international emergency number for your locale
(forexample,911),andthentapCall. If your phone is locked with a passcode, you may still be able to make an emergencycall:OntheEnterPasscodescreen,tapEmergencyCall,thenenterthe emergencynumberandtaptheredbutton. 1.1.2 AnsweringorRejectingaCall Whenyoureceiveaphonecallfromacontact,theIncomingcallscreenappears and displays the caller ID icon, name, and phone number of the calling party.
