Long press for power on/off. 6 Using your touch screen Touch screen tips To select an item, touch the centre of the icon. Do not press too hard; the touch screen is sensitive enough to pick up a light, yet firm touch. Use the tip of your finger to touch the option you require. Be careful not to touch any other keys. Whenever your LG-T585 is not in use, it will return to the lock screen. Control the touch screen The controls on the LG-T585 touch screen change dynamically depending on the task you are carrying out. Opening Applications To open any application, simply touch its icon. Scrolling Drag from side to side to scroll. On some screens, such as the Logs list, you can also scroll up or down. 7 1. Open back cover. Installing the SIM Card and Charging the Battery Installing the SIM Card When you subscribe to a cellular network, you are provided with a SIM card loaded with your subscription details, such as your PIN, any optional services available and many others. Important!
The SIM card can be easily damaged by scratches or bending, so be careful when handling, inserting or removing the card. Keep all SIM cards out of the reach of small children. Only 2G/2.5G SIM cards are supported. 2. Remove the battery. Illustrations Always switch off your phone and disconnect the charger before removing the battery. 8 S I M 1 S I M 2 3. Charge your battery. 9 S I M 1 S I M 2 WARNING: Do not remove the battery when the phone is switched on, as this may damage the phone. Installing a Memory card Remove the Back cover and insert a micro SD card with the golden contact area facing downwards as shown in the diagram. To remove the Memory card, gently pull it. NOTE: Memory card is an optional accessory. Formatting the Memory card Select Settings from Menu, go to Device settings Choose Memory info, then select External memory and tap Format. Enter phone password when prompted to formatting the Memory card. WARNING: When you format your Memory card, all the content will be Erased. If you do not want to lose the data on your Memory card, take a backup first. 10 Calls Making a Call 1. Touch 2. Enter the number using the keypad. 3. Touch to open the keypad. to initiate the call. TIP! To enter + for making an international call, touch and hold 0. Press the power key to lock the touch screen to prevent calls being made by mistake. Making a call from your contacts 1. From the home screen touch to open the Contacts. 2. Tap the search field box on the top of the screen and enter the first few letters of the contact you would like to call using the keypad. 3. From the filtered list, touch the contact ,then touch Call icon to make a call. The call will use the default number if there is more than one number for that contact. 4. Or you can touch the contact name and touch the number to call,if there is more than one number for that contact. You can also touch key to initiate the call to the default number. NOTE:
Self call - Self call imitates a real incoming call. Enter #*# on the Dialpad to activate a self call. This doesnt charge any fee. 11 key to Answering and rejecting a call When your phone rings, touch answer the call. To mute the ringing, touch on Silent tab in alerting screen. This is useful if you forgot to change your profile to Silent for a meeting. Touch on Reject tab to reject an incoming call in alerting screen. Cost save mode Every contact is added along with assigned SIM when adding in phone book. During Calling, matching operator SIM is identified and the operation is completed using the matching operator SIM. This makes possible to use benefit from using same operator. To use Cost save mode feature,make sure the feature is On [Settings > Call settings >

NOTE: Cost save mode doesnt work during in-call. Contacts Searching for a contact 1. Touch Contacts. 2. Enter the first few letters of the contacts name you want to call by touching Search Adding a new contact 1. Touch Contacts and touch Add. 2. Choose whether to save the contact to your Internal memory ,SIM1 or SIM2. 3. Enter your First and Last name. 4. You can enter up to five different numbers per contact. 5. Add an email addresses. You can enter up to two different email addresses per contact. 6. Assign the contact to one or more groups. 7. Touch Save to save the contact. Messaging Your LG-T585 combines SMS and MMS into one intuitive and easy-to-use menu. Sending a message 1. Touch Messages in menu and touch Write message to begin composing a new message. 3. Touch To: field at the top of the screen to enter the recipients, then enter the number or touch even add multiple contacts. to select a contact. You can 4. Touch when ready. NOTE: To send a message from SIM2 touch the forward arrow mark on icon. WARNING: If an image, video, sound, New slide and so on is added to an SMS it will be automatically converted to an MMS and you will be charged accordingly. 2. Touch Insert to add an Image, Video, Sound, Template and so on. 13 TIP: User can copy a selected text from any editor and can paste the same in any other editor Ex: Go to Message editor, type some text. Now select the text you want to copy by scrolling over the text and go to Option and tap on Copy . Now place the cursor at a point you want to paste the text. Go to Option and tap on Paste, so that copied text will get pasted. NOTE: Spam message - You can block the unwanted messages by giving Spam numbers or Spam words. Those messages will get stored in Spam message Folder. 14 Entering Text You can choose your input method by tapping and Input method. Touch to turn on T9 mode. This icon is only shown when you choose Keypad as the input method. Touch to numbers, symbols and text input. Use Shift key to change between capital or lowercase input. change between TIP: You can send SMS to many contacts at a time. User can select/deselect contacts for sending the message. Only 20 contacts can be marked and if user choose Select all only first 20 contacts will be marked. To send the SMS to a particular group of contacts select Groups and select particular group. NOTE: Excuse message - During Incoming call alert, a preset message can be send by taping on Excuse msg. NOTE: SMS Sorting - Inbox Messages can be sorted with the given sorting options for an easy access of messages. (Date, Sender, Read and unread) Setting up your email Touch E-mail from Apps Menu Screen 2. If the email account is not set up, start the email set up wizard and finish it. You can check and edit settings also you can check the additional settings that were filled in automatically when you created the account. Camera Taking a quick photo 1. Touch Camera icon. 2. When the camera has focused on your subject, touch to take a photo. TIP: To switch to the camera mode or video mode, slide up/down the camera or video icon on the centre-right of the viewfinder. After taking a photo Your captured photo will appear on the screen. The following options are available. Touch Upload - Touch to upload the photo. 15 Send Via - Touch to send the photo as a Message, E-mail or via Bluetooth. Set as - Touch to set as Home screen wallpaper, Lock screen wallpaper, Contacts image. Touch to delete the image. Touch to take another photo immediately. Touch to view a gallery of your saved photos. Using the advanced settings From the viewfinder, touch advanced settings options. After selecting the option, touch the OK button. to open all 16 Video camera Making a quick video To switch to the camera mode or video mode, slide up/down the camera or video icon on the right centre of the viewfinder. 1. Holding the phone horizontally, point the lens towards the subject of the video. 2. Touch the red dot 3. REC will appear at the bottom of the
. viewfinder with a timer at the bottom showing the length of the video. 4. To pause the video, touch and resume by selecting
. 5. Touch on screen to stop video recording. After making a video A still image representing your captured video will appear on the screen. The name of the video is displayed at the bottom of the screen. The following options are available. Touch to play the video. to Touch Send Via - To send the video as a Message, E-mail or via Bluetooth. Touch to delete the video you have just made and confirm by touching Yes. The viewfinder will reappear. Touch to shoot another video immediately. Your current video will be saved. Touch to view a gallery of saved videos and images. to open all Using the advanced settings From the viewfinder, touch advanced settings options. You can change the video camera setting after selecting the option, touch the OK button. Music To access the music player, touch Music. From here, you can access a number of folders:
Recently played - List of songs that you have played recently. All tracks - Contains the songs you have on your phone except the pre-loaded default music. Artists - Browse through your music collection by artist. 17 Albums - Browse through your music collection by album. Genres - Browse through your music collection by genre. Folders - Contains all the folders you have created. Playlists - Contains all the playlists you have created. Shuffle tracks - Play your tracks in a random order. Managing files You can store multimedia files in your phones memory so you have easy access to all your images, sounds, videos, documents and other content. You can also save your files to a memory card. Using a memory card allows you 18 to free up space in your phones memory. By touching My stuff, you can open a list of the folders that store all your multimedia files. QuickMemo The QuickMemo allows you to create memos and capture screen shots. Capture screens, draw on them, and share them with family and friends with QuickMemo. To start QuickMemo press Volume up & down keys simultaneously. Banner You can use it as a cheering tool in the concert hall or performance theatre. Safety Care Go to Menu > Settings > Device settings >

Emergency call forwarding Phone non-usage notice Games and apps You can install new games and applications on your phone to keep you amused when you have spare time. Touch Games and apps and choose Games, Applications, Phantom browser. Setting your alarm 1. Touch Alarms. 2. Touch Add, then you can set and save your alarm in this menu. Voice recorder Use your Voice recorder to record voice memos or other audio files. Using your calculator 1. Touch Calculator. 2. Touch the number keys to enter numbers. Converting a unit 1. Touch Unit converter. 2. Choose whether you want to convert Currency, Area, Length, Weight, 19 Temperature, Volume or Velocity. Wherever you are and whatever youre into. 3. Then select the unit and enter the value you would like to convert from. Installing LG PC Suite on your computer 1. Go to www.lg.com and choose your country. 2. Select Support and Go to Mobile Support. Follow the instructions on screen to complete the LG PC Suite Installation on your PC. The web Internet gives you a fast, colourful world of games, music, news, sport, entertainment and loads more, straight to your mobile phone. 20 Accessing the web 1. Touch the Internet. 2. To go straight to the internet home page touch Yes. In the page tap on option button present at the right bottom corner for more options. NOTE: You will incur extra cost by connecting to these services and downloading content. Check data charges with your network provider. Dual SIM setting You can see two Network Signal icons on the left-top of the screen when you insert two SIM-Card. To Activate/Deactivate the SIM card, Touch Dual SIM settings from Menu. Settings Changing your phone settings Use the freedom of adapting the LG-T585 to your own preferences. Touch Settings then select Device settings. Anti-theft mobile tracker - When the handset is stolen, handset sends the SMS to the numbers configured by real owner. To activate the ATMT feature, you will need to set ATMT on, and configure the ATMT settings with Sender name and Sending number list. Default ATMT Code is 0000. NOTE: Anti Theft Mobile Tracker -
(Settings > Device settings > Security > Anti-
theft Mobile tracker) When the handset is stolen, handset sends the SMS to the predefined numbers configured by real owner. ATMT SMS will contain information about the stolen phone IMEI, Owner name & phone number of the person who is using that handset. SOS Service settings SOS Service - Enable SOS service at SOS Service settings. After enabling, press down volume key 4 times when screen is locked, the SOS message is sent and the phone stays in SOS Mode. In the emergency situation SOS message will be sent to the assigned receivers and incoming calls by them will be automatically 21 accepted. All notification sound will be muted. To exit the SOS mode, press the End key in Homescreen. Changing your connectivity settings Your connectivity settings have already been set up by your network operator, so you can enjoy your new phone immediately. To change any settings, use Settings > Connectivity. Sending and receiving your files using Bluetooth To send a file:
1. Open the file you want to send, typically this will be a photo, video or music file. 2. Choose Send via. Choose Bluetooth. 3. If you have already paired the Bluetooth device, your LG-T585 will not automatically search for other Bluetooth devices. If not, your LG-T585 will search for other Bluetooth enabled devices within range. 4. Choose the device you want to send the file to. 5. Your file will be sent. To receive a file:
1. To receive files, your Bluetooth must be both ON and Visible. See Bluetooth settings for more information. 2. A message will prompt you to accept the file from the sender. Touch Yes to receive the file. 3. You will see where the file has been saved. For image files, you can choose to View 22 the file. Files will usually be saved to the appropriate folder in My stuff. TIP!
1. When you use a Bluetooth headset , A2DP and AVRCP profiles are not supported while you play video. It means you will not listen video sound if you use Bluetooth headset. 2. Bluetooth file transferring function will be blocked under some applications running.
(Voice call, Camera, Music Player, UMS/PCSync) Wi-Fi Wireless Manager allows you to manage Internet connections your phones Wi-Fi (a wireless LAN). It allows the phone to connect to local wireless networks or access the Internet wirelessly. Wi-Fi is faster and has a greater range than Bluetooth wireless technology. It allows fast emailing and Internet browsing. NOTE: The LG-T585 supports WEP and WPA/
WPA2-PSK security. If your Wi-Fi service provider or network administrator sets encryption for network security, fill in the key in the pop-up window. If encryption is not set, this pop-up window will not be shown. Before using your phone, please read the SAFETY INFORMATION OF THE TELECOMMUNICATIONS INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION (TIA). Safety Information Read these simple guidelines. Breaking the rules may be illegal or dangerous. More detailed information is provided in this users guide. Never use an unapproved battery that could cause damages to the phone or the battery itself, or even explode. Never place your phone in a microwave oven, as this will result in an explosion of the battery. Do not dispose of your battery in fire or with hazardous or flammable materials. Make sure the battery does not come into contact with sharp-edged items, such as animal teeth or claws. This could cause a fire. Store the battery in a place out of the reach of children. Be careful so that children do not swallow any parts of the phone, such as rubber plugs (earpiece, parts that connect to the phone, etc.). This could cause asphyxiation or suffocation. Do not make or answer calls while charging the phone, which can cause a short circuit, electric shock, or fire. Use only batteries and chargers provided by LG. The warranty does not apply to products provided by other providers. Only authorized personnel should service the phone and its accessories. 27 Installation or service may result in accidents and consequently invalidate the warranty. Do not hold or let the antenna come in contact with your body during a call. Emergency calls can be made only within a service area. To make an emergency call, make sure you are within a service area and the phone is on. Use your accessories, such as headphones or headsets, with caution, ensuring that the cables are plugged properly and that they do not touch the antenna unnecessarily. Body effects This device was tested for typical body operation, keeping a distance of 1 cm (0.39 inch) between the user's body and the back of the phone. To comply with RF exposure requirements of the FCC standards, a minimum distance of 1 cm (0.39 inch) between the user's body and the back of the phone is required. Belt-clips, holsters, and similar accessories containing metallic components from others manufacturers should not be used. Accessories worn close to the body, without keeping a minimum distance of 1 cm (0.39 inch) between the user's body and the back of the phone, and that have not been tested for typical body operation, may not comply with FCC's RF exposure limits and should be avoided. 29 Adapter Precautions (Charger) Using the wrong battery charger could damage your phone and void your warranty. The adapter or battery charger is only designed for indoor use. Do not expose the battery charger or adapter to direct sunlight, or use it in places with high humidity, such as the bathroom. Cautions for Battery Do not disassemble or open crush, bend or deform, puncture or shred. Do not modify or remanufacture, attempt to insert foreign objects into the battery, immerse or expose to water or other liquids, expose to fire, explosion or other hazard. Only use the battery for the system for which it is specified. Only use the battery with a charging system that has been qualified with the system per this standard. Use of an unqualified battery or charger may present a risk of fire, explosion, leakage, or other hazard. Do not short circuit a battery or allow metallic conductive objects to contact battery terminals. Replace the battery only with another battery that has been qualified with the system per this standard, IEEE-Std-1725-200x. Use of an unqualified battery may present a risk of fire, explosion, leakage or other hazard. Promptly dispose of used batteries in accordance with local regulations. Battery usage by children should be supervised. 31 Avoid damage to your ear Damage to your hear can occur due to constant exposure to excessive high sound. We, therefore, recommend that you do not turn on or off the phone near your ear. We also recommend you be reasonable with the music and volume level. If you listen to music, please ensure that the volume level is adequate, so that you are aware of your surroundings. This is particularly important when attempting to cross a street. Avoid dropping the phone or battery. If the phone or battery is dropped, especially on a hard surface, and the user suspects damage, take it to a service center for inspection. Improper battery use may result in a fire, explosion or other hazard. For those host devices that utilize a USB port as a charging source, the host device's user manual shall include a statement that the phone shall only be connected to products that bear the USB-IF logo or have completed the USB-IF compliance program. Always unplug the charger from the wall socket after the phone is fully charged to save unnecessary power consumption of the charger. 32 Safety instructions TIA's Safety Information This includes complete security information on wireless phones from TIA (Telecommunications Industry Association). It's required, for CTIA Certification, the inclusion in the user manual of text covering pacemakers, hearing aids and other medical devices. It's encouraged the use of the remaining TIA language when relevant. Exposure to Radio Frequency Signal Your wireless handheld portable telephone is a lowpower radio transmitter and receiver. When it is ON, it receives and also sends out radio frequency (RF) signals. In August, 1996, the Federal Communications Commissions (FCC) adopted RF exposure guidelines with safety levels for handheld wireless phones. Those guidelines are consistent with the safety standards previously set by both U.S. and international standards bodies:

Phone Operation NORMAL POSITION: Hold the phone as you would any other telephone with the antenna pointed up and over your shoulder. Suggestions for a more efficient operation For your phone to operate most efficiently:
Do not touch the antenna unnecessarily, when the phone is in use. The contact with the antenna affects call quality, and may cause the phone to operate at a higher power level than otherwise would be need. Driving Check the laws and regulations related to the use of wireless phones in the areas where you drive. Always obey these regulations. Also, if using your phone while driving, make sure to:
Pay full attention to driving; driving safely is your first responsibility;
Use hands-free operation, if available;
34 Pull off the road and park, before making or answering a call, if driving conditions demand so. Electronic Devices Most modern electronic equipment is shielded from RF signals. However, certain electronic equipment may not be shielded against the RF signals from your wireless phone. Pacemaker The Medical Industry Manufacturers Association recommends a minimum distance of fifteen
(15) centimeters, or six (6) inches, between a handheld wireless phone and a pacemaker, in order to avoid potential interference between them. These advices are consistent with independent researches, and with recommendations based on wireless technology research. People with pacemakers should:
ALWAYS keep the phone at least fifteen centimeters (six inches) from their pacemaker, whenever the phone is turned on;
Not carry the phone in a shirt pocket;
Use the ear opposite to the pacemaker, to minimize the potential interference;
If you have any reason to suspect that interference is taking place, switch off your phone immediately. Hearing Aids Some digital wireless phones may interfere with some hearing aids. In the event of such 35 interference, we recommend that you contact your service provider. Other Medical Devices If you use any other personal medical devices, consult your device manufacturer to determine if they are adequately shielded from external RF energy. Your doctor can help you obtain this information. Health Care Facilities Turn off your phone in health care facilities, whenever there are signs asking you to do so. Hospitals or health care facilities may use equipment that could be sensitive to external RF energy. Vehicles RF signals may affect improperly installed or inadequately shielded devices in motor vehicles. Check with the manufacturer, or its representative, regarding your vehicle. You should also consult the manufacturer about any equipment that has been added to your vehicle. Facilities with signs Turn off the phone in any facility where warning signs request you to do so. Airplanes FCC regulations prohibit the use of phones while in the air. Turn off your phone before boarding an airplane. 36 Blasting Areas To avoid interfering with blasting operations, turn your phone off when in a 'blasting area' or in areas with signs that read: 'Turn off two-way radios' . Obey all signs and instructions. Potentially Explosive Atmosphere Turn off the phone when in an area with a potentially explosive atmosphere, and obey all signs and instructions. Sparks in such areas could cause an explosion or fire that could result in personal injury or death. Areas with a potentially explosive atmosphere are often clearly marked, but not always. Among the potentially dangerous areas are:
Fueling areas (such as gas stations), areas below deck on boats, facilities where chemical products are transferred or stored, vehicles using liquefied petroleum gas (as propane or butane), areas where the air contains chemicals or particles (such as grain, dust or metal powders), and any other areas where you would normally be advised to turn off your vehicle engine. For vehicles equipped with air bags Air bags inflate with strong force. Do not place objects in the area over the air bag or in its deployment area, including wireless equipment, either installed or portable. Serious injuries could occur if wireless equipment is improperly installed into the car when the air bag inflates. 37 Safety Information Read and observe the following information for the safe and proper use of your phone, and to prevent any damage. Also, keep the user's guide in an accessible place at all times after reading it. Charger, Adapter and Battery Security The charger and adapter are designed only for indoor use. Dispose of your battery properly, or bring it to your wireless provider for recycling. The battery doesnt need to be fully discharged before recharging. Only use LG approved chargers that are specifically made for your phone model, since they are designed to maximize the battery life. Do not disassemble or short-circuit it. Keep the metal contacts on the battery clean. Replace the battery when it no longer provides acceptable performance. The battery can be recharged several hundred times before replacement. Charge the battery after long periods without use to maximize its life. The battery life will vary depending on usage patterns and environmental conditions. Intensive use of backlighting, browser, and packet data connectivity affect battery life and talk/standby times. The role of self-protection interrupts the phone when its operation is in an abnormal state. In this case, remove the battery from the phone, reinstall it, and turn on the phone. 38 Explosion, Shock and Fire Danger Do not place the phone in a place exposed to excessive dust, and keep the minimum required distance between the power cord and heat sources. Unplug the power cord before cleaning the phone, and clean the power plug whenever it is dirty. When using the power plug, make sure it is firmly connected. Otherwise, it can overheat or start a fire. Placing the phone in a pocket or bag without covering the receptacle (power plug pin), metallic articles (such as a coin, clip or pen) may short-circuit the phone. Always cover the receptacle when not in use. Do not short-circuit the battery. Metal items, such as coins, paper clips, or pens, in your pocket or bag may cause a shortcircuit between the + and - terminals of the battery
(metal strips on the battery). The short-circuit of the terminals may damage the battery and cause an explosion. General Notice Using a damaged battery, or inserting it into the mouth can cause serious injuries. Do not place the phone in proximity to items containing magnetic components, such as credit cards, calling cards, bank books, or subway tickets. The phone magnetism may damage the data stored in the magnetic strip. Talking on the phone for a long period of time may reduce call quality, because of the heat generated during use. 39 When the phone has not been in use for a long time, store it in a safe place, with the power cord unplugged. Using the phone close to a receiving equipment (such as TV or radio) may cause interference. Do not use the phone if the antenna is damaged. If a damaged antenna contacts skin, it may cause a slight singe. Contact an LG Authorized Service Facility to replace the damaged antenna. Do not immerse your phone in water. If this happens, immediately turn it off and remove the battery. If your phone does not work, take it to an LG Authorized Service Facility. The power supply contains elements that could be harmful to your health, if components are handled directly. If this happens, we 40 recommend immediate hand-washing. Do not paint the phone. Data stored in your phone might be deleted due to careless use, hardware repair or software upgrade. Please backup your important phone numbers
