Limited Product Warranty This Limited Product Warranty applies to the original end-user customer of the Meru product which you purchased for your own use, and not for resale (Product), from Meru Networks, Inc. (Meru) or its authorized reseller (Reseller). Limited Warranties One-year limited hardware warranty: Meru warrants to you that Meru hardware (other than Third Party Products as described below) will be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a one-year period after the date of delivery of the applicable product to you from Meru or its Reseller (the Hardware Warranty Period). If Meru receives written notice from you of such defects during the Hardware Warranty Period, Meru will, at its option, either repair or replace Meru hardware that Meru determines to be defective. Replacement products may be remanufactured units, and will be warranted for the remainder of the original Hardware Warranty Period, or if greater, for thirty days from delivery of such replacement. Should Meru be unable to repair or replace the Meru hardware, Meru (or its Reseller, as applicable) will refund to you the purchase price of the Product. 90-Day Limited Software Warranty: Meru warrants to you that, for a 90-

day period after the date of delivery of the applicable product to you from Meru or its Reseller (the Software Warranty Period), when properly installed and used, (a) the media on which the Meru software is provided will be free from defects in materials or workmanship; and

(b) the Meru software will substantially conform to the functional specifications in the applicable documentation. If Meru receives written notice from you of a breach of this warranty during the Software Warranty Period and is able to reproduce the defect, Meru will, at its option, either repair or replace the defective Meru software. Should Meru be unable to repair or replace the Meru software, Meru (or its Reseller, as applicable) will refund to you the purchase price of the Product. Exclusions The warranty on the Product shall not apply to defects resulting from the following:

iii Alteration or modification of the Product in any way, including without limitation configuration with software or components other than those supplied by Meru or integration with parts other than those supplied by Meru. Abuse, damage or otherwise being subjected to problems caused by negligence or misapplication (including without limitation improper or inadequate maintenance or calibration), relocation of the products

(including without limitation damage caused by use of other than Meru shipping containers), or use of the products other than as specified in the applicable Meru product documentation (including without limitation incompatible operating environments and systems), or improper site preparation or maintenance. Damage as a result of accidents, extreme power surge, extreme electromagnetic field, acts of nature or other causes beyond the control of Meru. Use of the Product with software, interfacing, parts or supplies not supplied by Meru. The warranty on the Product does not apply if the Product is sold, or in the case of software, licensed, for free for evaluation or demonstration purposes. Meru expressly disclaims any warranty or obligation to support the Product for all operating environments for example, as illustration and not limitation, Meru does not warrant or ensure interoperability of the Product with future telecommunica-

tion systems or other future software or hardware. You understand and acknowledge that the Products may generate, use or radiate radio frequency energy and may interfere with radio communications and/or radio and television receptions if is not used and/or installed in accordance with the documentation for such products. WHILE MERU USES COMMERCIALLY REASONABLE EFFORTS TO ENSURE COMPLIANCE OF THE PRODUCTS WITH APPLICABLE UNITED STATES FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION AND PROTECT AGAINST HARMFUL INTERFERENCES, YOU ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE THAT INTERFERENCES WITH RADIO COMMUNICATIONS AND/OR RADIO AND TELEVISION RECEPTIONS MAY OCCUR AND THAT MERU WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES OR INCONVENIENCE BASED ON SUCH INTERFERENCES. Return procedures To obtain warranty service you must: (a) obtain a return materials authorization number (RMA#) from Meru by contacting rmaadmin@merunetworks.com, and (b) deliver the Product, in accordance with the instructions provided by Meru, along with proof of purchase in the form of a copy of the bill of sale including the Products serial number, contact information, RMA# and detailed description of the defect, in either its original package or packaging providing the Product with a iv Meru Access Point Installation Guide degree of protection equivalent to that of the original packaging, to Meru at the address below. You agree to obtain adequate insurance to cover loss or damage to the Product during shipment. If you obtain an RMA# and return the defective Product as described above, Meru will pay the cost of returning the Product to Meru. Otherwise, you agree to bear such cost, and prior to receipt by Meru, you assume risk of any loss or damage to the Product. Meru is responsible for the cost of return shipment to you if the Meru Product is defective. Returned products which are found by Meru to be not defective, returned out-of-

warranty or otherwise ineligible for warranty service will be repaired or replaced at Merus standard charges and shipped back to you at your expense. At Merus sole option, Meru may perform repair service on the Product at your facility, and you agree to provide Meru with all reasonable access to such facility and the Product, as required by Meru. Installing AP1014i 1 AP1014i Overview AP1014i Overview The AP1014i is designed for use with small-scale wireless environments and telecommuter applica-

tions. When VPN access is configured in the corporate System Director interface, users can deploy the AP1014i remotely and have a quick and secure wireless connection to the corporate network. Deployments that expect high-user-density or are intended to support voice or video streaming are not recommended for the AP1014i. The AP supports a maximum of 10 simultaneous wireless clients. Note: Although the AP1014i was designed for remote VPN use, it can be connected directly to the corporate network and configured in the same manner as any other AP if remote use is not required. See Figure 5 for an overview of the AP1014is access ports. Figure 5: AP1014i Ports The AP1014i utilizes a single 2x2 802.11b/g/n wireless radio with an internal antenna. Note:

Configuring the AP1014i Configuring the AP1014i As mentioned above, prior to deploying the AP1014i remotely for VPN access, it must be configured to securely connect to the corporate controller. Instructions for configuring VPN access can be found in the "Configuring VPN Connections" section in the "Configuring Security" chapter of the System Director Configuration Guide. Installing the AP1014i The AP1014i is designed to be mounted on either a horizontal flat surface (such as a desktop or table) or a vertical surface (such as a wall). Note that if you are wall-mounting the AP, you will need to purchase two screws separately. Simply screw them into the wall placed slightly more than three inches apart (use the mounting template provided on the Quick Install document in the box) and slide the AP into place on them. Be sure to mount the AP in such a manner that the Meru Networks logo on the top of it is right-side up in order to ensure that the AP is properly secured. In this configuration, the ethernet ports will be facing upwards. For horizontal surface deployments, simply place the AP on the desired surface and follow the instruc-

tions below. Connect and Activate the AP Follow the instructions below when deploying the AP for remote access. Note that prior to doing so, the AP should be configured locally (when using it for VPN access) by the system administrator. Refer to Figure 5 as a guide for connections. 2012 Meru Networks, Inc. Installing AP1014i 3 Using the LAN Ports 1. Connect the ethernet cable to the port labeled F1 and a PoE device (either a PoE-capable switch or a PoE injector). The device will power on automatically. The connection indicator lights at the top of each network port should turn on when the AP is activated. If desired, connect another corporate device (such as a VoIP phone) to the port labeled F2 (LAN Port in Figure 5). Note that this port can be used for any devices that need to be connected to the corporate network; it acts just as a network port at the office would. (The port should be colored yellow to distinguish it from the WAN Port.) 2. 3. Connect your wireless station to the wireless network (the SSID is the same as the corporate SSID configured at your office). Using the LAN Ports As noted in the previous section, the AP1014i implements several Ethernet (LAN) ports that can operate in the same manner as ports connected directly to the corporate network (when VPN is configured). These ports can be used to connect corporate devices (such as a VoIP phone, desktop computer, etc.) or you can connect a hub or switch to it and connect several devices at once to the corporate network. Note: A maximum of 128 devices can be supported by a single LAN port on the AP1014i. The LAN ports on the AP1014i will show up in the System Director WebUI under the Ethernet link

(Configuration > Wired > Ethernet). These ports can also be managed via user-configured Port Profiles, as detailed in the "Configuring Network Interfaces" chapter of the Meru System Director Configuration Guide (under "Configuring Port Profiles"). The following features are not currently supported on secondary Ethernet ports:

Bridge mode with VLAN Dynamic VLAN in tunneled mode MAC Transparency Note: Do not connect all Ethernet ports on the AP to a single switch; this can create a traffic loop between the various interfaces. This is not a supported configuration on the AP1014i. AP1014i LED Codes The AP1014i has a single LED that indicates its status. If you want to change the appearance of the LED, follow these steps:

Normal: LED is as described above Blink: Sets the LED flashing; this is useful to locate an AP Dark: Turns off the LED 3. Click OK. The following table describes the colors that can be displayed by the AP1014i Status LED and the details corresponding to each color sequence. Color off cyan State:

AP is off - either there is no power or the LEDs are set to Off on the controller. Check the LED setting on the controller by clicking Configuration > Devices > AP, selecting the AP and then checking the setting for LED Mode.
