Prior to golfing, you will need to download and install the Motocaddy app to your smartphone. The S5 Connect and Motocaddy app are compatible with iPhone 4s or newer (running iOS 9.0 or later) & Samsung Galaxy S4 or newer (running Android 4.3 or later). iPhone:

Other trademarks and trade names are those of their respective owners. Page 3 App Registration Registration Upon first opening the Motocaddy app you will be asked to register. Simply provide your first & last name, email address, and country of residence and registration is complete!
After registering you will have access to the full functionality of the app. Please note that you can update your registered information later from the Account page (see page 6). You will also receive a prompt requesting permission for the Motocaddy app to access your location when the app is in use. Granting this permission is necessary in order for the Motocaddy app to find local courses near you and provide distance information when golfing. Page 4 When all fields are complete, select the Register Button to submit your information and begin using the Motocaddy app. Pairing Your S5 Connect & Smartphone Pairing Your S5 Connect & Smartphone The display for the Bluetooth enabled module will power on automatically when your trolley battery is connected. You will see the clock display (as shown below), along with a prompt at the bottom of the screen to open the app. The S5 Connect is actively searching for a Bluetooth connection when you see this display. Open the app and navigate to the Settings page, then set the button for the Pair Device field to the ON position. Page 5 Pairing Your S5 Connect & Smartphone Pairing Your S5 Connect & Smartphone When the S5 Connect and smartphone have been successfully paired, the device display will show Bluetooth Paired at the bottom of the screen (as shown below), and the app will display the unique Device ID number in the Pair Device field (as shown to the right). At this point, the S5 Connect will receive notifications per the Settings in the app, and activating Golf Mode on the app will transmit distances to the device. Page 6 Activate Golf Mode When the S5 Connect display shows Bluetooth Paired at the bottom of the screen (as shown below), you can activate Golf Mode by selecting the large Play Golf button on the Home page of the App. If viewing the Home page when golf mode is active, the name of the current course selection will display here. Selecting the course name will return to the list of local courses (see page 8), selecting the Play Golf button will return to Golf Mode (see pages 11 13). Select the course you are playing to begin your round. Alternately, you can use the search bar at the top of the screen to search for any course by name. Page 8 Golf Mode Overview Device & App Basic Features Map View Device & App Basic Features The app uses Bluetooth to transmit GPS distances to the S5 Connect. After selecting a course, the device will display the FCB page for the first hole, (as shown below); please see page 10 for more details about the S5 Connect device. The app offers more in-depth information for those times when you need it, including providing an aerial view of the hole (Map View, shown to the right) and allowing you to view the distance to any point on each hole for detailed shot planning. Please see pages 11 13 for more details about the features and functionality of Golf Mode within the app. FCB Page Page 9 Golf Mode Overview Device Functionality Device Functionality In addition to displaying the hole information and green distances, the device allows you to check the current time and total time of play (pace) and manually cycle through holes. The features of this page include:
- Shot planning: move the Shot Planning icon
(Motocaddy logo) around to measure the distance to any point on any hole.
- Hole information: the hole information and front/center/back of the green distances are displayed directly above the map.
- The header bar displays contains 5 buttons. Buttons highlighted in blue indicates that they are active. These buttons allow you to switch between map view and power save mode
(see page 14), access larger clock displays/
controls (see page 13), or you can return to the home page of the app and select a new course.
- The footer provides controls that allow you to manually cycle between holes, zoom-in to the green, or measure the distance of any shot taken (see page 12). This will set the location from which the shot was taken (Point A) to zero. After activating the Measure Shot button, move to the location of the ball. When standing by your ball (Point B), the distance shown in the Measure Shot field is the straight-line distance between Points A and B. Page 12 Measure shot distance active Golf Mode Overview Clock and Round Time Clock and Round Time The header bar includes a clock which displays the current time and a round timer that tracks the total time of play. These are also buttons; when activated, they will display a drop-down displaying each clock at a larger size, and the round timer also includes pause/
start and reset controls. These are shown in the image to the right. Page 13 Golf Mode Overview Power Save Mode Power Save Mode Power Save mode reduces data usage and battery power consumption by dropping the overhead map view and displaying a more basic distance page which utilizes less processing resources. Power Save mode will display the hole information and distances to the green, and you can still access the other features such as shot measurement and manual hole advancement. Please note that the green zoom feature is disabled in Power Save mode. To return to the overhead map view at any time, simply select the Map View button located in the header. Page 14 Notifications Notifications The S5 Connect will display notications from your smartphone (Phone Call, Text Message, Email, & App notifications*).
*Note: notifications can be disabled from the Settings page in the app. The app notification setting is a general setting that covers notifications for all apps that are enabled to send push notifications to your phone with the exceptions of the phones call app, text messaging app, and email client. To disable notifications for a specific app, you must do so using the phones settings menu (see page 18). Phone Notifications Text Notifications Email Notifications App Notifications

Press the center button to clear notifications*. Page 15 Motocaddy App Overview Home Page Home Page Fom the Home page you can activate Golf Mode by pressing the Play Golf Button. If viewing the Home Page when Golf Mode is active, the current selected course name will display in the text box. Use the Navigation Bar at the bottom to cycle through additional app pages (Account, Settings, Support, Motocaddy Store*).

Account Page The Account Page allows you to update your previously registered information (First Name, Last Name, Email Address, Country of Residence), provide additional information (Phone Number and Address*), and/or update your email preferences.
*Note: Providing address information is advantageous for UK users that use the Motocaddy Store feature, as it will expedite the checkout process by prefilling required fields with information from the Account page. Page 17 Motocaddy App Overview Settings Page Settings Page the The Settings Page provides ability to customize the app to suit your preference*. You may set your preferred unit of measure (yards or meters), set your preferred language*
and enable/disable any of the 4 smartphone notification types (Call notifications, Text notifications, Email notifications, and App notifications). This is also the page from which you will pair your S5 Connect device. Please see pages 5 6 for more information regarding Bluetooth pairing.
*Note: fields highlighted in blue indicate the active setting. For Android users, the language showing in the language box indicates the active language setting. iPhone users must set their preferred language using the language settings in the phones settings menu. The Motocaddy app supports English, French, German, Spanish, and Swedish. If your iPhone is set to any other language, the app will display in English. Page 20 Troubleshooting & Support How do I close the Motocaddy GPS app?
Once you have finished your round, you can close the app to stop location tracking and data usuage. APPLE iOS : Double-press the Home button to see your most recently used apps. Swipe right or left to find the Motocaddy GPS app. Swipe up on the app preview to close it. ANDROID : Press and hold the Home button to see your most recently used apps. Swipe up or down to find the Motocaddy GPS app. Swipe left or right on the app preview to close it. What smartphones are compatible with the S5 Connect and Motocaddy app?
The S5 Connect and Motocaddy app are compatible with iPhone 4 or newer (running iOS 9.0 or later), and Samsung Galaxy S4 or newer (running Android version 4.3 or later). Do I need to have my phone on me while golfing?
The S5 Connect must be used in conjunction with Motocaddy app. The app uses your smartphones GPS hardware to guage distances, then transmits the distance data Bluetooth wireless technology. The range of the Bluetooth hardware is 30 meters (33 yards); however, the closer the phone is to your location, the more accurate the distance information will be. For best results it is advised that you store your smartphone in your Motocaddy golf bag when not interactibg directly with the app. What is the range of Bluetooth connectivity between the S5 Connect and my smartphone?
The Bluetooth connectivity range is up to 30 meters (33 yards). Are there any fees to use the app?
The Motocaddy app is 100% free of charge. This is subject to change without notice subject to Motocaddys sole discretion per the terms of use, reviewable on the app. Page 21 Troubleshooting & Support How much of my smartphone battery does the Motocaddy app use?
This is proportional to the amount of time the display on your smartphone is powered on in order to access the map view and other app-side features. For best results, use your S5 Connect for distances at a glance and minimizing the amount of time spent with the smartphone display is powered on. Doing so can increase your the on-the-course battery life of your smartphone 400% (as compared to other golf apps). What is Power Save mode?
Power Save mode is a battery-saving feature. When enabled, the phone will stop displaying the overhead course view. GPS is still enabled in Energy Mode, so accurate distances are still provided, and you can still track shot distances as well. Does the S5 Connect app use any data?
Mobile data is required in order to access iGolfs global golf course database, and also in order to display Apple Maps and Google Maps when in Map View. After selecting your course, you can select Power Save mode, then disable data on your phone. The app will only be using GPS for distances and Bluetooth for transmitting the distances to the S5 connect in this scenario. Is the S5 Connect display readable in direct sunlight?
The S5 Connect features a transflective display that is highly readable in direct sunlight. How do I setup my S5 Connect and Motocaddy app?
Begin by downloading and installing the Motocaddy app to your smartphone. It is availble on iPhone through the App Store or for Galaxy S phones through Google Play. To unlock app functionality, you will need to register when prompted upon the first time you open the app. After you are registered, select the Settings Button from the footer navigation bar on the app. Power your S5 Connect on by connecting the trolley battery, then set the Pair Device button to the ON position on the Settings page of the app. Once the S5 Connect is paired with your smartphone, you are set up and ready to begin. Is the S5 Connect waterproof?
The S5 Connect waterproof rating is 1-ATM, meaning that it is waterproof to a depth of 10 meters for a short time;
however, it is best that you do not intentionally submerge your S5 Connect. Page 22 Troubleshooting & Support How do I update my S5 Connect?
You may check for updates via the app from the Support page. To do so, open the app and select the Support button. Next, select the Check for Updates button. If an update is available, you will be taken to either the App Store or Google Play to download the update. Any firmware updates for the S5 Connect will be applied automatically over-the-air the next time the app and the S5 Connect are paired. I want to play a course that has been updated recently or is not listed. Can this be remedied? If so, how?
Courses may undergo renovations from time to time. More rarely, you may come across a course that is yet to be mapped by iGolf. Please submit requests for mapping updates or new course mapping to iGolfs courst mapping team at courseupdate@l1inc.com. Requests are usually processed within 7 14 days of submission. My S5 Connect occasionally displays inaccurate distances. Why?
Recent renovations to a course will require that the mapping be updated. See the previous answer for details on submitting requests for mapping updates. How do I manually advance holes?
As the Motocaddy app and S5 Connect will advance holes automatically as you navigate the course, so the need to manually advance holes is rare. In such rare instances (i.e. a shotgun start in a tournament), there are 2 ways to manually advance holes:
- On the S5 Connect, press the right button to advance to the next hole, or press the left button to return to the previous hole.
- On the Motocaddy app, the Map View and Power Save pages include manual advance buttons in the corners of the footer. The button on the right advances to the next hole, the button on the left returns to the previous hole. How many courses are available?

Page 23 Troubleshooting & Support Are the S5 Connect & Motocaddy App tournament legal?
The S5 Connect and Motocaddy app are compliant with USGA and R&A regulations. It is tournament legal as allowed under local rules. When competing in tournaments or leagues, make sure to always be aware of local rules and comply with them. How do I change the unit of measurement from yards to meters?
The Settings page within the app includes a unit of measurement setting. Simply change the setting to your preference, and it is automatically saved. How do I power the S5 Connect on?
To power the S5 Connect on, just connect the trolley battery. How do I power the S5 Connect off?
To power the S5 Connect off, disconnect the trolley battery. It is advised that you disconnect and charge your trolley battery after every round of golf. Why is the course map is not displaying?
A data connection is required to display the course maps. Enable data in your smartphones settings, and make sure that your phone is showing that it has reception. Can I measure the distance of my drives and other shots?
Yes. From the Map View and Power Save pages in Golf Mode, there is a Shot button located in the footer. To measure the distance of a shot, select this button in the location from which the shot was taken; this location is set to zero (point A). The Motocaddy app will measure the distance as you make your way to your ball. When you are standing by your ball
