Revision History Revision 01 02 Description of Revision Initial Release Revision after feedback Date April 18, 2012 May 10, 2012 NantWorks Confidential and Proprietary Rev. 02 pg. 3 1 Introduction This document describes the general functions of Vitality products family, and how the GlowPack product is added to this family. It also provides the basic instructions of how the product is used, including the hardware and software interfaces. 2 Vitality Products Overview The Vitality product family includes personal Reminder Light and GlowCap units. The GlowCap units are filled with medicine from Pharmacy. The dose time is pre-programmed via a web interface to the Vitality servers by the doctors/nurses/medical specialists. When the Reminder Light is inserted into the power outlet at home, it will automatically search for a cellular network signal, connect to Vitality servers, and download the latest medical dose information. When it is time for a dose, the GlowCap device will activate to remind the patient to take the medicine. Patients can receive additional reminders via a phone call and/or text message to the patients mobile phone. Currently, both Reminder Light and GlowCap devices have been FCC proved. The GlowPack device is a device which can be added to the Vitality family product. The usage instructions for the GlowPack are provided in Chapter 4. The Vitality product family description 3 Regulatory Approvals The GlowPack is currently designed to meet regulations for use in the United States. 3.1 Federal Communications Commission This device complies with part 15 of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions:
1. This device may not cause harmful interference 2. This device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation. NOTE: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures:
Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna. Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver. connected. Any changes or modifications not expressly approved by the manufacturer could void the users authority to operate the equipment. 4 GlowPack Function Description The GlowPack device works together with a Reminder Light device. The Reminder Light device is already certified by FCC (FCC ID: YOC373200). The GlowPack module is installed inside a Bag and used to store medicine that is pre-filled inside packs. This is the situation when the original GlowCap device cannot be used to store the medicine. It is potentially possible to contain other items inside the bag for general reminding function as long as the regular bag operation is not interfered. NantWorks Confidential and Proprietary Rev. 02 pg. 5 4.1 Hardware The GlowPack module is pre-installed inside the bag. As with GlowCaps, the medical dose time is pre-
programmed by doctors/nurses/medical specialists using the web interface to the Vitality servers. The Reminder Light will download this information from the servers, connecting via the cellular network. When it is time for a dose, the Reminder Light will pulse orange, and the LED in the GlowPack device will also pulse as an indicator. After a certain period is elapsed and if the dose has not been taken, the GlowPack will also play a quick sound pulse to remind the patient. Alternative reminding methods include placing a call to a and texting a message to the patients mobile phone. GlowPack device and how it works with Vitality Reminder Light 4.2 Dose Time Configuration (For specialist only) The medication dose time may be change by doctors/nurses/medical specialists on the server. That information will go through the cellular network and be downloaded to the Reminder Light device paired with GlowPack device.
