MODEL XT101A IN-CAR TRANSMITTER USERS GUIDE A. IN CAR/OUT OF CAR INDICATOR OVERVIEW Subscribers to Arbitrons ratings service are not just interested in which radio or television station a panelist listens to, but also where the station was heard - In their home or elsewhere, such as in their car, at work, etc?
To meet this need, the PPM systems In-Car Transmitter incorporates a low power 433 MHz RF transmitter that acts as an in-car beacon. If a panelist is in his car with an In-Car Transmitter present, the RF receiver in his personal people meter
(PPM) will detect the transmission and log a positive in Car event. The PPM records successful detections in its listening log. The In Car/Out of Car Indicator system is illustrated in Figure 1 below. PPM In-Car Transmitter Figure 1: In Car/Out of Car Indicator System Arbitron Proprietary Information

Do not place the unit in direct sunlight, where drivers view would be obstructed or where the device would fly free in the event of a sudden stop or accident. E.
