Smart Phone Puppy User Manual Manual versionV 1.3 This smart phone is an intelligentized product for communicating that based on Windows. To obtain the best performance of your phone, please read carefully this user manual. The phone is equipped with an integrated computer operation system, which includes daily office and entertainment software and tools. It will bring great convenience for your business work and enrich your off-hours. Since this product provides with the similar features and use methods of the computer, we advise you to use it in your customs of using the computer. Please pay attention to the following aspects when using this product:
In order to use the product in a secure and legal way, please read the statements in the chapter of Safety Precautions carefully. Before the first use, please charge the battery by using the accessory charger. The charging time needs 8 to 10 hours. The new battery will reach its best performance after two or three times full charge/discharge cycles. Similar to the computer, enough memory will guarantee the system running with a great speed and efficiency. By restarting the phone, you could completely clear the system memory to resume the system to its best status. Running too many programs at the same time will affect the responding speed of the system. Therefore, please try to avoid this situation occurred. If the above situation has caused the 1 system responding slowly, please restarting the phone to resume to its best status. If the contents of the User Manual are not consistent with the product, please take the standards of the phone. Some services or functions identified in the user manual might not be supported by all the networks. Please contact the network operators or service providers directly if any functions or services are unclear. Side keys Short press up/down key to turn up/down the volume. Long press side up key to enter the shortcut list. Long press side down key to enter Notepad. Press Side keys to mute the ring tone of an incoming call. 2. Left soft key and Right soft key. Carry out the corresponding function in left/right corner at the bottom of the screen. 3. Home key Press it to return directly to main screen. 4. Talk key Press it to originate/answer a phone call. Answer another incoming call when there is one already on hold. Switch between two calls in process. Enable Hold with it while answering/Calling. Enter Call history in a non-call status. 5. Security information To use your phone securely and effectively please read carefully the following precautions before operating your device. 1.1 Exposure to Radio Frequency (RF) Signals Your wireless phone is a radio transmitter and receiver. It is designed and manufactured not to exceed the emission limits for exposure to radio frequency (RF) energy set by the Federal Communications Commission of the U.S. Government. These limits are part of comprehensive guidelines and establish permitted levels of RF energy for the general population. 1.2 Precautions while taking with your phone Please ensure to keep a distance at least 2.5cm from your phone to your body when you are using it. Please install accessories that provided or authorized by us otherwise it may exceed the upper limit of radio leakage prescribed. 1.3 Compatibility of radio frequency interference Your phone may cause interference to electronic devices without a well-designed shield or those whose radio compatibility has not yet configured. 1.4 In public Please power off your phone in public where there regulation posted out there. These public places includes: Hospitals, Health resorts or other hospitalization places. 1.5 SAFETY IN AIRCRAFT When you are on board or nearby an airplane, please power off your phone and remove the batteries. Using mobile phone on board an airplane can cause interference to an aircraft's navigation system and network. In most countries it is against the law to use this product on board an airplane. 1.6 Pacemakers The Health Industry Manufacturers Association recommends that a minimum separation of six inches be maintained between a handheld wireless phone and a pacemaker to avoid potential interference with the pacemaker. These recommendations are consistent with the independent 6 research by and recommendations of Wireless Technology Research. Persons with pacemakers:
Should always keep the phone more than six inches from their pacemaker when the phone is turned ON. Should not carry the phone in a breast pocket. Should use the ear opposite the pacemaker to minimize the potential for interference. If you have any reason to suspect that interference is taking place, turn your phone OFF immediately. 1.7 Hearing Aids Some digital wireless phones may interfere with some hearing aids. In the event of such interference, you may want to consult your service provider, or call the customer service line to discuss alternatives. 1.8 Other Medical Devices If you use any other personal medical device, consult the manufacturer of your device to determine if they are adequately shielded from external RF energy. Your physician may be able to assist you in obtaining this information. Turn your phone OFF in health care facilities when any regulations posted in these areas instruct you to do so. Hospitals or health care facilities may be using equipment that could be sensitive to external RF energy. 1.9 Road Safety Vehicle drivers in motion permitted to use handheld telephony services, in emergency. In some countries, using devices as an alternative is allowed. 1.10 Explosive Atmospheres When in any area with a potentially explosive atmosphere or where flammable materials exist, the product should be turned off and the user should obey all signs and instructions. Sparks in such areas could cause an explosion or fire resulting in bodily injury or even death. Users are advised not to use the equipment at refueling points such as service or gas stations, and are reminded of the need to observe restrictions on the use of radio equipment in fuel depots, 7 chemical plants, or where blasting operations are in progress. Areas with a potentially explosive atmosphere are often, but not always, clearly marked. These include fueling areas, below deck on boats, fuel or chemical transfer or storage facilities, and areas where the air contains chemicals or particles, such as grain, dust, or metal powders. 1.11 Batteries Any contact of exposing electrodes of batteries with conductor such as jewellery or keys may cause lost in possessions or bodily injury. 1.12 Electromagnetic radiation Your phone completely complies with the standard related to wireless irradiation enacted by the authority of the state and International Health Association. These limiting standards are parts of comprehensive rules and constitute public wireless irradiation permission standards These standards are developed and formed after a long-term intensive scientific research by independent scientific organizations such s ICNIRP (International Commission on Non-ionizing Radiation Protection). These limiting standards contain a large surplus to insure the safety of all of the people, no matter and take the variable factor of various measurement conditions in consider. 1.13 Other precautions The phone comprises precise electronic circuits, magnets and battery system, to handle it, please be careful, especially of the following main points:
Keep the phone and its accessories away liquid or humid environment.
Keep the phone away an environment too high or too low in temperature.
Do not let a metal object (such as a coin or a key coil), which may result in a short circuit, to contact the pone.
The vibration function of the phone may move the phone, so do not put the phone near a flame or a lit cigar or cigarette.
Do not scrawl on the phone.
Prevent the phone from falling off or any other rude knocking.
Keep the phone away the compute magnetic disk, credit card, traveling card, or other magnetic objects, otherwise the message stored in the magnetic disk or credit card may 8 be affected.
Do not place you phone or battery in an environment exceeding 60C, for example, on an automobile panel, window, or behind a glass plate irradiated by the sunshine.
Please do not take out the phone battery in a switching-on state.
Do not throw the battery in a fire.
Do not keep the phone battery in the mouth, since that the electrolyte swallowed down may poison you. If an error operation is taken for careless, please contact the doctor as soon as possible.
Do not attempt to disassembly the phone or the other accessories.
The built-in battery in the phone can only be changed by a professional service engineer. If it is displaced with a battery of an error type, an explosion may arise. Be sure to handle the used battery according to the induction of the producer. It may has a potential danger to use any one of battery, charger, vehicle-type charger
(optional) or seat-type charger (optional) not designated by the producer.
The headphone may generate heat, and the phone may also generate heat when being charged.
Only wet or electricity-proof cloth may be used to wipe the phone. Please do not use a dry or a charged cloth to wipe the phone. Please do not use a chemical reagent or a cleanser containing abrasive sand; otherwise the shell may be damaged.
Please do not keep the state of having no battery in the battery compartment or outage;
otherwise some data may be initialized.
The metal material contained in the phone may cause you in hyper susceptibility, which depends on your physique or health status.
Since that parts such as liquid crystal display and pick-up head belong to fragile parts, please carefully keep them such that the phone may not be impacted or squeezed.
The flash lamp should not be closed to your or others eyes. 9 2. Overview of your phone 2.1 Installing the SIM card Follow these steps to install a GSM SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card provided by your local network service provider. The SIM card contains your phone number, service details, and phonebook/message memory. Your device supports both 1.8V and 3V SIM card. Some legacy SIM cards will not function within this device. The customer should consult with their service provider for a replacement SIM card. There may be fees for this service 1. Make sure your device is turned off. Slide the cover latch to remove the battery cover. 2. Pull the plastic ribbon to remove the battery. Then, insert the SIM card into the SIM card slot with its gold contacts facing down (the cut-off corner of the SIM card should match the cut-off corner in the slot). 3. Replace the battery and gently push down to snap it into place. When the battery is placed, please note the root part of the plastic ribbon should be under the battery, and the end part should be laid on top of the battery. 4. Replace the battery cover. Setting Up Your Smart phone In this section you will learn how to install battery, SIM card, T-Flash Card, and how to charge the battery. Installing the SIM Card:
The SIM (Subscriber Identification Module) card contains a computer chip that stores your personal number, phone book, and other services provided by your cellular service provider. To insert a SIM card:
1. Press on the battery release latch and move the backside cover downward to open. 2. Remove the battery by lifting it up from both sides of the bottom end. 3. Lift up the SIM metal socket. 4. Insert the SIM card with the gold-plated contact area on the card facing down. Push the metal socket down to lock into place. 10 PIN and PUK code PIN code PIN means Personal Identification Number, which is provided accompanying with the SIM card. You can prevent other people from using your SIM card without your permission, by using the PIN protection function provided by the phone. After enable the function of PIN protection, you need to input the PIN each time when you turn on your phone. If you continuously input error PIN for three times, the SIM card will be locked automatically. Any people cannot view the data of the SIM card or use its functions. PUK code When the SIM card is locked, only PUK (PIN Unblocking Key) number can unlock it. If you continuously input the wrong PUK number for ten times, the SIM card will be locked permanently. Usually, PUK is provided accompanying with the SIM card. If you lost your PUK number or the PUK number did not be provided accompanying with the SIM card, please contact your network operator. 2.2 Installing the T-Flash Card Use only the T-FLASH (Secure Digital) card in your Smart phone. You can install the T-Flash Card to store images, video clips, music and other data on your phone. To insert a T-Flash Card:
1. Follow the instructions on the previous page for removing the back cover and battery. 2. Slide the T-Flash Card into the holder, with the gold-plated contact area facing down. 3. Push the card down and slide the metal latch over the T-Flash Card to secure it into place. 2.3 Battery information 2.3.1 Installing the Battery 1. Insert the battery by aligning the exposed copper part of the battery pack with the protruding copper conductor, and then gently push the bottom of the battery into place. 2. Slide the cover on the phone. 2.3.2Charging the Battery When the power of the battery is below the normal value of working electronic pressure, the screen will display a charging notice and an empty battery icon. At the same time, the battery 11 Formatiert: Schriftart: 12 pt Formatiert: Schriftart: 12 pt will make a notice sound. Please charge the battery immediately; otherwise, the saved information might be lost. If you do not charge the battery or replace the battery immediately, the phone will be closed automatically after a while. The phone contains a rechargeable lithium battery. The phone is designed to use only manufacturer-specified original chargers and batteries, to secure the longevity of service of the phone.
Plugging the charger plug into the USB charger port carefully.
If charging in the switch-off status of the phone, connect the USB charger to the external power source, and the battery icon in the phone screen will begin flickering and the phone still can be used. If charging in the switch-on status of the phone, the display screen will show a notice of charging now.
Before the first use, please charge the battery by using the accessory charger. The charging time needs 8 to 10 hours. The new battery will reach its best performance after two or three times full charge/discharge cycles.
When the battery finishes the charging process, the battery indicator icon will stop flickering. If the phone is switched off, the display screen will show a notice Charging is completed!
Disconnect the connections between the charger and the phone. Note: The accessory USB data cable has the charging function too in connecting the phone and the computer. However, because the voltage provided by the USB port of the computer cannot meet the charging requirements of the phone completely, using USB data cable to charge the battery will affect the longevity of the battery. We advise you to charge the battery by using the battery charger. 2.4 Power on/off Press Power key for several seconds you can power on/off your phone. System will prompt alert on screen when no SIM card installed. 2.5 initial interface display Power on your phone, after the start animation, it will enter initial interface. Some of the icons introduced may not be exactly the same like t hose displaying on your phone. please just follow it. 2.5.1 Indicator bar In status bar system display by various indicators current working status, including battery, signal, GPRS, and many other indicators. They are illustrated as follows:

Battery charging Call in progress Sound on Mute Call on hold 13 Unread message New voice message GPRS is enabled Synchronization errors No SIM card Data transfer in progress 2.5.2 Shortcut bar In Shortcut bar five shortcut keys to respective functions are lined up here from which by navigation keys can you select and run these programs. 2.5.3 Information indicators In information indicators area some relative information are distributed, including name of internet service operator, current time and date, recent appointments and reminders, scene mode status and new message prompt. 2.5.4 Soft key bar The command at soft key bar is in accordance with current menu function which can be performed by LSK and RSK. 2.5.5 Start Menu Start menu lies in left corner at the bottom, press LSK to open up Menu options. All functions are listed on Start Menu 2.6 Speed dial On main Menu screen, press RSK to select Add speed dial from Menu in which you can assign keys to speed dials. After setting up successfully, you will be able to deploy them conveniently. Prompt you can press * and # on Start screen to turn the pages. 2.7 Lock and Unlock While the phone is on, long press power to lock the keypad. Press LSK then * key to unlock it. 14 3. Basic functions 3.1 Making a Call The phone provides with varieties of methods to making a call for your convenience. 3.1.1 Making a call from the Home screen When in the Home screen, press the numbers on the keypad to enter the phone number, and then press the Talk button to make the call. Press the Back button if you need to backspace over a digit. As you enter a phone number, your phone searches Contacts, Call History, Speed Dial lists, and your SIM card, to find a matching number. Matching names and numbers will be displayed. When you see the name of the person you want to call (or the entire number) displayed, select it and press the Talk button. In this example, the first few digits of a phone number have been entered. The names listed in this screen have all been found to have phone numbers that start with these digits. At this point, you can select the desired name without bothering to enter more numbers. 3.1.2 Making a call from Contacts To make a call by Contact name:
In the Home screen, press the Right Soft key ("Contacts") or select Contacts from the Start Menu. If there are many contacts listed, you can enter the first few letters of the desired contact's name to perform a search. Select the name you want to call and press the Talk button. The phone number that has been specified as the default phone number for that contact entry will be dialed. To change the default number for a Contact:
In the Home screen, press the Right Soft key ("Contacts") or select Contacts from the Start Menu. Select the contact whose default phone number you want to change, then press the Right or Left navigational button to change the default number. The abbreviation at the right side of the list indicates the default number. For example, if you change w to m, the default number changes from Work phone (w) to Mobile phone (m). To make a call from an open Contact card:
In the Home screen, press the Right Soft key ("Contacts") or select Contacts from the Start Menu. Select the desired contact, then press the Action button to display all the information for 15 that contact. Select the number you want to call, then press the Talk button. For more information about Contact list abbreviations and Contact cards, please see Chapter 8. 3.1.3 Making a call using a recently dialed number When in the Home screen, press the Talk button to display a list of recently-dialed names/numbers. Select the item you want to dial, and then press the Talk button again. 3.1.4 Making a call from the Call History list Select Call History from the Start Menu. Select the number or name you want to call, then press the Talk button. 3.1.5 Making a call from a hyperlink When you see an underlined phone number presented as a hyperlink in an E-mail message, just scroll to it, and press the Action button to make the call. 3.1.6 Making emergency calls Calls to emergency service numbers can be made under any circumstances, even if you have locked the SIM card and/or your phone. To place an emergency call: Dial the emergency number appropriate for your location, and press the Talk button. 3.2 Receiving a call 3.2.1 Receiving a Call When you receive a call, the name and number of the caller are displayed on the screen. If the name of the caller is not in your Contacts list, only the caller's phone number is displayed. You can answer a call by pressing the Talk button or the Left soft key (Answer). If don't want to take the call, press the Right soft key (Ignore). Note that selecting Ignore will connect the caller to your voice mail box, if you subscribe to this service. This is the default behavior for incoming calls. See the next section if you want a Photo ID
(which you have associated with the caller) to be displayed on your screen during incoming calls. When there a call is coming (See figure below), you can press Send or LSK to receive it, or press Power or RSK to Ignore it. 16 When your phone is plugged with earphone and you enable earphone mode in Profiles, it will auto-receive an incoming call right after a short while then you can answer it with the earphone Note: If any key answer enabled in Settings>Phone>Dial up settings, you can answer an incoming call by pressing any key in addition to Send key. 3.2.2 Answering a second call using Call Waiting If you are already talking on the phone when you receive another call, the Call Waiting screen will appear. To place the current call on hold and answer the incoming call, press the Left Soft key (Answer) or the Talk button to simultaneously place the first call on hold and answer the second call. If you want to end the first call before answering the incoming call, press the End button, and then press the Answer soft key or the Talk button to Answer the incoming call. 3.2.3 Ignoring a Call on call waiting screen If you are already talking on the phone when you receive another call and you don't want to answer the incoming call, press the Right Soft key (Ignore) in the Call Waiting screen. This will keep your current call in progress, but will connect the call waiting '63aller to your voice mail box, if you subscribe to this service. 3.3 Functions during a call When on communication, you can synchronously do other operations by opening up Menu on RSK. Note: Whether the functions listed on Menu can be utilized depends on whether ISP has 17 provided it, or whether you have applied it. 3.3.1 Holding a call During a call, select Hold from Menu to prevent communicators from hearing each others voices. This call is not yet hung up till you select resume to go on with it. During a call, you can input and call another number. In that case the former call will be automatically saved (See the figure below). After the last one get connected, you can press LSK to switch between the two. But only the one you switch to can hear you. 3.3.2 Mute If you would like to shut up speaker for a while during a call, you can select Mute from Menu to make it and, you can resume the call by pressing no mute from Menu. When the speaker is muted, only you can hear the voice from the other side. 3.3.3 Speakerphone On Turn on the speaker then it will help lift the voice from this side for you to listen clearly within noisy surroundings. 3.3.4 Conference call Conference call is supported. Please refer to sitting a call conference for details 3.3.5 Contacts During a call (or a conference call), select contacts from Menu and then you can view details of contacts or do other operations. 3.3.6 Viewing Calendar You can look into Calendar. 18 3.3.7 Call History Here you can enter Call history records to view or operate on them. 3.4 Dealing with several calls System will prompt you if another call comes in while you are already in process of a call. You can choose to answer or Ignore it. If you choose to answer it, you will be able to switch between 2 calls or you can merge one into the other or merge two calls into the 3rd one to make a three-party conference call in which anyone speaks the other two hear. Conference call consists of six members at most. Whether you can use this function depends on whether ISP provides it or whether you have applied it. 3.4.1 Switching a call If another call is coming during a call, you can press LSK to receive it and the former on will be auto-paused and isnt hung up yet nevertheless he can not hear the conversation between you and the last one. Now you can select Switch to talk in turn to one person respectively in which the one not in the conversation will be auto-held, and cant hear. If you hang up currently call in its process, the held call will be released automatically from held status. You can select Hang up all to hang up both the two calls. 3.4.2 Sitting a call conference It supports you to sit a call conference which includes at most 6 members besides you in which the other 5 person can all hear ones voice. Steps for sitting a call conference When a call gets connected, answer or call another;
19 After are connected, select Conference from Menu and currently processing call and call on hold are put together to form a conference. By same means you can add more conference members. If you need to converse with a certain member in a conference, you can select Split from Menu
(See the figure below), then all members in this session will be listed on the screen for you to select to talk separately. Now the conference call is held nevertheless other members can communicate with each other all the same. After your separate conversation, you can press OK to return to the Call conference. During a conference call, press Power key to end the whole conference. 3.5 Net Call 3.6 ActiveSync 3.6.1 Using ActiveSync When you connect your phone to PC with a USB cable, with Microsoft ActiveSync Synchronizing data on your computer with that on PC is available. ActiveSync will auto-compare data on PC and your phone to check if synchronization is available. 20 Gelscht: Text input method Gelscht: It supports various text input method handy and quick to fit other functions. It supports both Chinese and English, numeric mode and other input methods. In text field, short press * to switch input method, long press * to pop up input method bar at soft key bar. You can select a common one by pressing navigation keys or number keys. 3.5.1 Pinyin input method In text field, short press * to switch to Pinyin. When inputting Pinyin, press sequentially the keys which includes the letters of the collocation you want, but all possible associative characters will appear at the bottom, now by navigation left and right can you select the collocation you wanted;
press Navigation down to characters corresponding to pinyin. press OK on focused character or press the number key that corresponds the number before it can you input this world in text field. 3.5.2 Intelligent English input method In text field, short press * to switch to En. 3.6.2 Installing ActiveSync There ActiveSync has already be built in that, you only have to install same applications on PC. You can use the companion CD that came with your phone to install ActiveSync on PC. 3.6.3 Synchronizing data with PC In default mode, contacts, schedule and other tasks in MS Outlook will be all copied to phone. thus you can view all information on your phone comparably as you can on PC. 21 4. Internet Explorerneed to same with Chinese version Pocket Internet Explorer Using Pocket Internet Explorer (IE), you can browse the World Wide Web on your Smart phone. Pocket IE supports HTML Hypertext Markup Language), cHTML (compact Hypertext Markup Language), xHTML, WML 2.0, and WAP (Wireless Application Protocol). It also supports JScript, ActiveX controls, and CSS (cascading style sheets). The browser supports images and sounds, but it does not support frames on a Web page. To connect your smart phone to network with IE, you need to:
Make sure that your SIM does support it, or if you are not so clear if it supports, please consult your ISO for information. Please apply to start or order Data operating services or GPRS services from the ISO;
Correctly set up IE on your phone. Note Whether you can get access to WAP depends on whether ISO have provided it, and whether you did enable it. Please consult your ISO for detailed information. 4.1 Starting Internet Explorer The first time you do this, a default list of Favorites should appear. If you select one and then press the Action button or the Left Soft key (Go), IE will open that web page. 22 You can also select Address bar on Menu where you can enter a website youd like to browse and then press LSK (Go), system will connect to open it. While browsing Websites, you can back to a just browsed page by pressing Back. If you want to quit browsing, you can press Power key to disconnect from Internet and exit the browser. 4.2 Offline menu When offline, you can select following items on Menu:
Address bar- you can enter a Website youd like to browse. Add Favorite- you can add in Favorites a new Webpage link, including its name, address and the name of the folder it is saved to. Add Folder- you can create folders in Favorites to make it easy and convenient to manage miscellaneous websites. 23 Edit- Edit a website address. Delete- delete a record on focus. Options- here you can set up the browser, please refer to Setting up Internet Explorer. 4.3 Online menu When the browser is online, you can press RSK to select following items on Menu:
Address bar- you can enter a Website youd like to browse. Favorites- you can save all your favorite pages here. Add to favorites- you can add in Favorites a new Webpage link, including its name, address and the name of the folder it is saved to. Forward- go forward to next page in recently-visited web pages. Refresh-reload the current page. History- Recently-visited pages are stored here from which can you select one to visit. 24 View- you can select a view mode of browsing pages Zoom- you can select a resolution for displaying web pages. Tools- In tools (See the figure below) you can send the link address of the web page you are browsing to others by mail, you can also view the properties of the current page, or set up the browser. To set up the browser, please refer to Setting Internet Explorer 4.4 Setting up Internet Explorer Internet Explorer (
) Select Functions from Menu in Internet Explorer to set up IE. 25 4.4.1 General Select Options from the menu, then select either General, 4.4.2 Connections Enter Connections from Options (See the figure below) and you can change the way it connects to Internet. Using Auto-detect settings, system will auto-select proper way of connecting according to the web site. 4.4.3 Memory Entering Memory (See figure below) in Options, you can view memory status of network. Press RSK to clean out temporary files, Cookies and History record. 26 27 5. Tasks Affairs that need to be completed in the future are recorded here. It is mainly from the task information synchronized from the phone to PC in Microsoft Outlook 5.1 Synchronizing tasks on PC When you need to synchronize Microsoft Outlook task records on PC to your phone, please first start ActiveSync Connect PC to your phone with USB cable. In default mode, system will automatically synchronize task detail to Task. 5.2 Creating a task on your phone Enter task on Main Menu. Enter task content, press OK to complete creating. Move focus on the newly created task, then press LSK to activate it. Note If you want to make changes to schedule or priority etc, you have to synchronize your phone with PC and set them in Microsoft Outlook on PC. 5.3 Menu at Tasks When you enter Tasks, you can press RSK to open Menu (See the figure below) and you can:
28 Beam Task- Send selected task to other storage devices by Infrared transfer Delete Task- delete a task record on focus. Sort by- you can sort tasks by several means. Filter- you can filter tasks in different state. 29 6. Windows Media The inbuilt Windows Media Player can play audio/video files on phone or memory card 6.1 Playing a file On Player main interface, press LSK to enter Windows Media whose default interface is its library. You can select from different types of files in specified folders the file you want to play. Press Back to enter playing screen. You can enter Play list by selecting Now playing. 6.1.1 Button operations Pause playing Press Ok to pause the current playing file. Back to the head of a file Press Navigation Left while playing a file. Jump to next file Press Navigation Right while playing a file. Adjusting volume Press Navigation Up/Down or Side keys to turn up/down the volume. 6.1.2 Menu at Player Press RSK to open up Menu 30 Gelscht:
Library All media files are stored here. Play/Pause Start to play or pause playing current file. Stop Stop playing current file Shuffle/Repeat Play at random or repeat playing a file in Play list. Full screen To play video files in full screen mode Options Player settings Properties show detail of currently playing files. About View version information 6.2 Now playing Enter the Now playing screen from the playing screen. The list will show the files of playing now or about to be played. 31 Tapping menu now to use the following functions:
Library Display the library screen so that you can choose a file to play. Move up Move the selected file up in the play list order. Move down Move the selected file down in the play list order. Remove from play list Delete the selected file from the play list, but the file is still saved in the media library. Shuffle/Repeat Play the files in the play list randomly/repeatedly. Clear Now playing Deletes all files from the now playing play list, but the files are still saved in the media library. Error details Display error information about the selected file. Properties Display the detailed information about the current selected file. 32 6.3 Library screen For this phone, all audio and video files are saved in the media library (see the picture below). You can view and choose the files from the media library and add them to the play list for playing. In Library or folders, press RSK to open up Menu (See figure below), you can use functions within to operate on files. 6.3.1 Update Library. You have to update Library to see the newly added files before you find out and play it. In Library, select Update Media Library from Menu for system to auto search (See the figure below). Search results will be placed to relative library folders. 33 6.3.2 Playing directly in Library You can directly select and play files in library. 6.3.3 Add files to play list Only added to play list on playing can the files in Media Library be played with Windows Media Player. If you need to add a new file already in existence in Library to play list, you have to find out the file in the library folder, focus on the file, press RSK to select Add to play list from Menu(See the figure below) and then you can add it to Now Playing list. Pause playback while using another programs If you do not use this function, the media player will continue playing when other programs are running (except the call function). If you enable this function, then the media player pauses playing when other programs are running. Resume playback after a phone call Whether you enable this function decides if the media player will continue playing the file when a call is ended. 6.4.2 Video Here you can change the view mode of videos. Play video in full screen Never represents playing video files only in windows mode. Only when oversized represents playing video files in full screen only when the resolution of files is larger than that of the screen. Always represents always playing video files in the full screen mode. Scale to fit window When the resolution of the video file is larger than that of the screen, the file can be played by zooming out the video window. 36 6.4.3 Network You can change connect speed according to Internet connection you are using to obtain better effect on videos and audios. 6.4.4 Library Here you can choose whether to enable player in Media Library. 6.4.5 Skins Here you can select various appearances of the player. 6.4.6 Buttons Here you can redefine button functions on Windows Media Player. Move focus onto a function button you want to redefine, select Assign from Menu, follow the prompt, press another button you want to assign function to then it is accomplished. Select Reset on Menu to restore default settings. 6.5 Audio/Video format the player supports Windows Media video format: wma, wmv Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG): mp3 37 7. Calendar In Calendar you can view the calendar as well as you can set arrangement of a day. 7.1 Viewing calendar Enter Calendar, press LSK to switch among date reminder, weeks and months. 7.2 Creating a date On Calendar screen, press RSK, select Create to add a new date. You can make changes to the options concerned. 7.3 Calendar settings On Calendar settings screen, select a item then press RSK to change settings. 38 8. Messaging(SMS, Email and MMS) You can create, send and receive E-mail and SMS messages through Inbox synchronization or by connecting to your E-mail server. You can then view all of the messages in your Inbox. This phone supports sending by group by which you can sent SMS to multi-recipients 39 After entering recipients, pressing navigation keys to switch cursor below to edit SMS. to input content, please refer to: Input method. Select Quick text on Menu, it will list items of quick text (see figure below), select proper text then press LSK to insert it in context. On top left corner on SMS editing screen displays word count and total word capacity. After editing this SMS, press LSK to send it to the recipient. The sent messages will be saved in Sent folder in default mode. 40 8.1.2 Viewing SMS On SMS list screen, focus on the SMS you want to look into and press OK to view detail. Press LSK to reply to sender. Press RSK to open up Menu and carry out relative operations over this SMS 8.2 Outlook E-Mail This phone supports receiving/sending Email as well as synchronizing Outlook Email on PC. First time using Outlook on this phone, you need to configure network and set up account. Check it out in Settings. On Outlook screen, press LSK to create an Email Enter the Email address of an object in Recipient, or select Add recipients on Menu where you can add multi-recipients;
Input Email subject in Subject. After entering recipients, pressing navigation keys to switch cursor below to edit context. To input content, please refer to: Input method. After editing an Email, press LSK to send it to the recipient, in default mode all sent messages 41 will be saved into Sent folder. 8.3 MMS MMS is an multimedia information transferring operation proposed by CMCC, which can transfer multimedia information including text, pictures and audio. MMS operation realizes instant multimedia transferring from point to point, phone to Internet or Internet to phone. There a default settings has already been deployed, please dont change or modify on it. 8.3.1 Creating and sending MMS On main screen, press LSK to create a new MMS In Recipients you can directly enter phone number as well as select Add recipients from Menu where you can select recipients you want to send MMS to. This phone supports group send by which you can send MMS to multi-recipients at one time. After entering recipients and subject, fill in the blank the corresponding content in Picture/Video, Text and Audio. You can select Cancel from Menu to cancel editing and back to MMS box. Select Preview from Menu after editing to preview effect as a whole. Press LSK to send this MMS 8.3.2 Receiving MMS System will prompt you if there comes a new MMS. You can load or view this MMS in MMS box. You can view the MMS right after it has been completely downloaded onto your phone. 42 8.4 Menu in SMS/MMS/Email list On SMS/MMS/Email screen, press RSK to open Menu and you can :
Delete Delete current message Reply Reply to all and Forward current message. Folders Switch to other folders (including Draft box, Out box, Inbox, Sent box and deleted mail) Switch accounts Switch amongst SMS, Email and MMS;
Move Move current message into other folders. Mark as read Mark current item as an unread one;
Download Messages It is only available in Email. As its only heading and subject that the phone receives from an Email, you need to select it to download the whole mail to your phone if it is necessary for you to view the detail. Option Change options on messages or Email. Send/Receive Send or receive messages and Email. 8.5 Folders of Mailing System Folders of a mailing system contain draft box, outbox, Inbox, sent box and deleted mail. For efficient use of storage space, please clear termly the old messages in Sent box. If current space becomes insufficient, only playing received MMS is allowed. Operations like Sending, saving and downloading all turn to be unavailable in that case. Draft 43 All incomplete or ready-to-be-sent messages are stored here. Outbox All fail-to-be-sent messages are stored here. Inbox All received messages are stored here. Sent box all successfully sent messages are stored here, if auto save function of MMS enabled, after an MMS is successfully sent, it will be saved into Sent box immediately Deleted In it all files that have been removed from other folders are disposed. If deleted from this box, it will be cleared out eternally. 8.6 Options To utilize Mailing system better, you can set the parameters. On SMS, Email or MMS screen, press RSK to select option from Menu and then you can set up following parameters. 8.6.1 Display Set to choose to display or not the time and date in Email information and the way it was arranged. 44 8.6.2 Sending You can choose to show or not the content of former Email in a reply Email, or backup a sent Email. Gelscht: 5 8.6.3 Signatures You can set signature here that you can choose to insert your signature in SMS. Gelscht: 5 8.6.4 Account options Here you can respectively set SMS and MMS. The items in Settings includes: whether to use Unicode which help correct errors in displaying 45 Gelscht: 5 content of messages sent from this phone or, whether to require service center to deliver send report after its forwarding a message to a recipient. 8.6.5 New account You can set up an Email account here in order to send/receive Email. This phone supports POP3/IMAP4. You can set up an account by following steps, any question, please consult MSP Gelscht: 5 46 8.6.6 Loading messages from SIM By this function you can load SMS on SIM from Inbox. Gelscht: 5 47 9. Contacts Contacts are like an online address book where you can store information about people and businesses you communicate with regularly. For example, you can store multiple phone numbers, E-mail and street addresses, Web pages, birthday, anniversary date, etc. You can use Contacts to dial phone numbers and compose E-mail and SMS messages directly from the contact card. The Contacts list The Contacts list displays the names of your contacts alphabetically, along with an abbreviation for the default communication method, such as the person's work phone number (w) or home phone number (h). This makes it easy to reach the contact using the method you prefer. Note that if the contact entry includes a work phone number, your Smart phone will automatically set it as the default number. 9.1 View contacts information Enter Contact, all contacts both saved on SIM and phone are listed here. All contacts are arranged alphabetically, the contacts saved on the phone are ranked before those saved on SIM card. The types of contacts numbers are identified by letters, e.g. If default number is a work number, it will display w at rear;
If it is a home number then display H at rear. And those saved on SIM card only be displayed as a SIM Icon. Move highlight bar to focus on a contact, press OK to view details. 48 9.2 Modifying contacts information When you need to modify on a contact, you can enter the detailed information, then press RSK to open up Menu and Select Edit to modify on it. 9.3 Creating a contact On Contact list screen, press LSK Create (See the figure below), you can set up a new record of contact on the phone. Fill in the blanks item by item then press LSK to complete setup. This newly set up record will be added in contact list. If it is an extension number or an International call number that you input, before you go on to dial the extension or the latter number, you might need to pause for a while after dialing the main number. In that case you can select Insert pause from Menu to insert pause P between main number and extension number. If you want to extent pause time longer, you can insert more P in between. If you need to manually dial the sequent number, you can select Insert wait from Menu. You can add contact from a communication object, a message/Email sender and Call History. 49 9.4 Creating a contact in SIM If you need to create a record of a contact on SIM, you can press RSK on Contact list screen, Select Create a SIM contact from Menu to make it. Generally, record saved on SIM card can only record contacts name and his unique number which depends on the types and function of SIM. Please consult Internet service operator for details. 9.5 Creating a speed dial to a contact You can assign a 1-2-digit quick number to a number saved on you phone that is frequently in touch with. Then when you are to dial this specified number, you only have to long press its quick number (if its a 2-digit one, just short press the tense digit then long press the latter) then it will connect to the corresponding number you want. 50 9.6 Finding a contact On contact list screen, you can find a contact by means as follows:
Press Navigation up/down key to find;
Press Num keys, system will query all records relative (For example the elements including letters and a number on a Num key match the first letter or number of a contact ). If you want to find a record on SIM card, just input its SIM password and system will find it. Note When you press Num keys to find, to those contacts recorded on your phone, system only compares whether the default number is consistent with that you input. 9.7 Beaming contacts You can send contacts to others via infrared connection. How to: at Contact list, select Beam contacts from Menu, aim the infrared interface on your phone to other receiving devices, then press Beam to start transferring. 9.8 Copying contacts between SIM card and Phone You can inter-copy contacts details between SIM and Phone. 9.8.1 Copying SIM contacts to Phone Enter details of SIM contacts, select Save to contacts. System will ask you if to save as new contact or add in other records. If you select to save as new, it will enter new contacts details for you to fill in the blank name and phone type, press LSK to insert the number. 51 9.8.2 Copying Phone contact to SIM card As only one phone number can you save onto SIM card, you have to select one from phone numbers in details of a phone contact and system will require you to confirm the name and number of SIM contact. Press LSK to complete copy. 9.9 Deleting contacts You can delete contacts both on contacts list and contact details screen. 10. ActiveSync Before synchronization can begin, you must install Active-
Sync 3.7 or above on your desktop or notebook PC. Use the Companion CD that came with your device, or install ActiveSync for free by downloading the software from Microsoft's web site at http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile. ActiveSync is already installed on your phone. 52 10.1 Using ActiveSync 10.1.1 Synchronize with the computer After install the ActiveSync software in the computer, using USB cable to connect the phone and the computer. Create the cooperation relationship between the phone and the computer followed by the instructions, and set the synchronization contents. The synchronization process will start automatically when the instructions have finished. The information of Outlook contacts, schedules, tasks, emails, etc will be synchronized to the phone. In the ActiveSync function screen, select Synchronization to start the synchronization process; and select Stop to end the synchronization process. Note: In the default status, ActiveSync will not synchronize all information of Outlook. It will be realized only after the relative options have been set. 10.1.2 ActiveSync Server Before synchronizing information with a server, make sure all the requested server authentication information such as username, password, and the name of the Microsoft Mobile Information Server are correct. To set up ActiveSync Server:
On ActiveSync screen, on Menu, select Option-Server settings-Connect. In User name, enter your Microsoft Exchange user name. In Password, enter your Microsoft Exchange password. In Domain, enter the name of the domain of your Exchange server (if required). In Server name enter the name of mobile information server you want to connect to. 1. Press OK to finish setup, press the Start soft key to synchronize. Note After a partnership has been set up between phone and PC, a far-distance connection to the server also can be available. 53 10.2 Synchronizing information 10.2.1 Synchronizing inbox When you synchronize the mails stored in the inbox of the computer or stored on the server, the system only synchronizes the mails received in the most recent three days, and only synchronizes the initial 500 bytes for each mail. If you hope to view all contents of the mail, you need to download the competed mail. The mails stored in the phone and in the computer are synchronized. If you delete an email in the phone or in the computer, the phone or the computer will delete this email automatically in the next synchronization process. To synchronize the other files in Outlook and mails in the customized directories, you need to select and highlight these directories in the phone. Attention: SMS and MMS cannot be synchronized. 10.2.2 Synchronizing the schedules You can synchronize schedules stored in the phone with those stored in Outlook, or Mobile Information Server 2002, even higher versions of the computer. In the default mode, only the schedules in the past two weeks and the future schedules will be synchronized. 10.2.3 Synchronize the contacts Synchronize all contacts in the default mode. Once the synchronization process is accomplished, the contacts records newly created or deleted from the phone or the computer will be correspondingly created or deleted from the computer or the phone. 10.2.4 Install software to the phone You can install software to the phone by using ActiveSync function in the computer. The instructions are:
Build a connection between the phone and the computer by using ActiveSync. 54 Run setup file in the computer. Select the setup location in the phone and begin to install the software. If the Memory card has been inserted into the phone, the system will notice you to choose the storage location. 55 11. Call history It can record information such as phone number or call time of dialed calls, answered calls and missed calls. Call history list is shown after entering Call history. Different icons are assigned to identify different record types. The indications correspond to icons as follows:
Dialed calls Answered calls Missed calls Note Assume that a number within an call record in Call history is one that already stored in contact list, then it will be displayed as its corresponding name, or only its number will be displayed. 11.1 Viewing Call history In call history list, move focus onto an record you want to view, press OK to view details. 56 11.2 Saving number In Call history list, move focus onto an item you want to save. Press LSK to save it. Camera 17.1 Cautions in using Camera The camera on your phone is produced and assembled with superior, high precision technologies.
