IrDA, RS232 and Optional Bluetooth, communication interfaces are supported by MP3200, you can select the most suitable one which meets your demand to generate real-time labels and receipts. Notice: Any changes or modification not expressly approved by the party responsible could void the user's authority to operate the device. or 1 1 Getting familiar with MP3200 Please familiarize yourself with the features of your MP3200 Series as shown in the following diagram. 2 2 Installing and Charging the Battery One Battery Pack is included with the Printer and is shipped uncharged. Please unpack the Battery Pack prior to use. The Printer is powered by a 7.2V 2200mAH Li-Ion Battery Pack. Be sure to fully charge the new rechargeable Battery Pack before using it for the first time. Following the steps below to charge the Battery Pack :
Installing the Battery
(1) Open Battery Pack Compartment by pushing down the cover lock button. Push Down the Cover Lock button Open the Cover
(2) Slide the Battery Pack into the Battery Pack Compartment aligning with the arrow sign.
(3) Close the cover of the Battery Pack Compartment. Align the arrow sign Close the Cover 3 3 Charging the Battery
(1) Insert the charge cable into the printer charger jack, then plug the charger into the appropriate A.C. wall socket.
(2) Power on the Printer by pressing the POWER switch. The LED 1 blinks green light five times, then turning to flash red light. Pressing the POWER switch again, the four LED indicators blink green light three times, then LED 1 turning to flash red light again. This represents the Battery Pack has been fully charged. For more details about LED Indicators, please refer to the Section LED Indicators . Press the POWER Note :
1. Use of unapproved charger could danger the Battery Pack or the Printer. 2. The Printer should not be operated while the Battery Pack is charging, this will result in improper charge. 3. For more information on battery safety, please refer to he Section Battery Safety Information . 4 4 Loading the Media Deciding the Type of Media and Printing Mode Before loading the media, please decide the media type and printing mode. Note : If your desired media type is label, its necessary for you to change the printing mode by using the Printer Command. After changing the printing mode, please execute the Label Length Measurement for the first time. For detailed Label Length Measurement procedure, please refer to paragraph Conducting Label Length Measurement. Loading the Media
(1) Open the Media Compartment Cover by pushing down the Cover Lock Knob. Push down the Cover Lock Knob Open the Media Compartment Cover (Upper) Media Compartment Cover (Front) 5 5
(2) Adjusting the Width Adjustment Spacer to one of the grooves in accordance with the width of the media roll. Grooves are available for the width from 34 to 58 mm with 3 mm per pitch. Confirm Direction Confirm Direction Width Adjustment Spacer Make sure the direction of media roll is correct
(3) Set the media load as shown in the following diagram.
(4) For label media, setting the label roll with or without Peeler. For receipt media, please always set the paper roll with Peeler. With Peeler Without Peeler Feed Roller Feed Roller 6 6
(5) Close the Media Compartment Cover. Note : By using label media with specific sensor setup, the Printer performs automatic Top-of-Form by feeding one label when closing the Media Compartment Cover under power-on status. But the Printer doesnt perform Top-of-Form when using receipt media or continuous printing. Conducting Label Length Measurement When using label media, you have to conduct Label Length Measurement. Please follow the instruction indicated below to carry out the measurement.
(1) Installing a label roll with Media Compartment Cover opened.
(2) Pressing FEED switch, then closing the Media Compartment Cover.
(3) Before the Printer starts length measurement, the LED 3 blinks three times.
(4) Three fed the for executing labels will be the measurement, length measurement. After completing the Printer feeds the label to printing position and is ready for printing. If the length measurement is failed or executed without setting the label roll, the Printer issues a jam error. Note : When the length measurement is completed without any problem, the values will be stored into the Flash ROM memory.
(5) 7 7 Performing a Self-Test Print Printing a Configuration Message Printing a configuration message once the Battery Pack is fully charged and the media roll is loaded. Performing a Self-Test Print to verity the printer is under proper working condition. You can print a configuration message after conducting the Self-Test procedure.
(1) Make sure the Printer is power off.
(2) Press FEED button and POWER button simultaneously.
(3) Release both POWER and FEED buttons, the four LEDs blink green lights 5 times, then LED 1 blinks orange light 10 times quickly. The Printer starts printing a Self-Test message. indicates the model No, This message firmware version, communications, power, control setting, specifications and head resistance information. Tearing Off the Print Job Pulling one edge of the media against the tear bar, then tearing down and across against the tear bar to tear the media. 8 8 Operation The tables below identify and define the Printer switches and LED indicators interface. Switch Functions The Printer has two control switches : POWER switch and FEED switch. Following table shows the Printer status by pressing each switch. under different states. When you turn on the power or press the POWER switch under power save mode, the LED Indicators display the battery remains by blinking light. Please refer to the battery remains status by its LED light indication as shown below. . Note : G Green ; O Orange, R Red Power Save Mode To minimize the power consumption, the Printer changes to Power Save Mode in accordance with your setting automatically. If its under an error condition, then the Printer goes to power Saving Mode in 10 seconds. Power Save Mode can be terminated by performing following actions :
(1) Receiving data through IrDA (Link securing)
(2) Receiving data through RS232C
(3) Closing the Media Compartment Cover
(4) Pressing the FEED switch
(5) Pressing the POWER switch Consequent actions will cancellation :
(1) Receiving data through IrDA and RS232C follow each Power Save Mode
Starting data processing.
(2) Closing the Media Compartment Cover
The Printer performs Top-of-Form (for label print mode) then turning to normal mode. The Printer performs Length Measurement (for label print mode) if the FEED switch is pressed before closing the Media Compartment Cover.
(3) Pressing the FEED switch Reprint the last print. For label print mode, if no label has been printed prior to this, the Printer feeds one label. For receipt print mode, if no receipt has been printed prior to this, the Printer feeds paper approx. 20mm in length.

(4) Pressing the Power switch
The Printer carries out head check and displays battery remains, then turn to normal mode. 13 13 Auto Power Off In order to minimize the battery consumption, the Printer goes off automatically 10 minutes later after entering into Power Saving Mode. Before Auto Power-Off, MP3200 Series sends a notice to the last-communicated external equipment. If no response from the external equipment or no any operation on both POWER or FEED switches, the Printer will shut off in 10 seconds. If you want to turn on the Printer, just pressing the POWER switch. You can set up the time frame between 00 to 255 minutes to activate the Auto Power Off function. However, if you set the time frame as 00, then the Auto Power Off function wont be activated. To turn off the power, just pressing and holding the POWER switch for 2 seconds or more. 14 14 Troubleshooting Please review the following Troubleshooting Guide to solve common problems you may encounter with your Printer. If the problems are not covered in the Troubleshooting Guide, please contact the company where you purchased your Printer. If they cant assist you, please contact PC World technical support at 886-2-2696-2559. Troubleshooting Guide Problem Solution Printer cant be turned on Make sure the battery pack is installed properly. No label (paper) movement Adjust or replace platen drive Recharge the battery pack. Poor print quality No print gears as required. Select the correct label sensor type (for label media). Remove the obstruction in paper path Clean the print head. Check and recharge the battery pack. Check the quality of media. Make sure the paper is loaded correctly. Verify communication between the host device and the Printer is correct.
