Before we run off and start playing, we can have some fun setting the date and time. Dont worry:
you only have to do this once (or each time my batteries are replaced.) Then you can teach me more about you! | especially want to learn to recognize your voice cause you're my one and only Mom mmy, the little hand is on 3 and the big hand is on 12. Scheduling Activites E 4 = SEES As you go through the prompts in the Start-up Routine, you'll see that time is a very important feature. Though | can tell time, Im not a talking alarm clock! | need to know the time so that we can schedule activities, know when its time to go to bed and know when its Christmas, New Years, or other holidays! So please be patient and go through the steps carefully. | can even refember Daylight Savings Time (DST), so if you live in an area that recognizes DST, be sure to set me appropriately.
| will use-time to prompt various activities throughout the day: from the moment | wake you up, | may ask you to feed me at breakfast time (anytime from 8am to 11am). Or | may be hungry for lunch (anytime from noon to 4pm). And, of course, dinner is my favorite meal of the day (anytime from 5pm to midnight). In between our meals together, | may get hungry for a snack (anytime) or have to go potty (anytime). Sensors I have seven (7) places where | can feel and sense things!
1. Right Hand Sensor: "I know when you squeeze my right hand!
2. Brush Sensor: "I know when youre brushing my hair to make it pretty!
3. Mouth Sensor: "I know what you feed me and when you put food or drink to my mouth!"
4. Microphone Sensor: "I can hear when you talk tome!"
5. Hug Sensor: "I can feel your love when you hug me!
6. Clothing Sensor: "I know what you dress me in!
7. Potty Sensor: "I can tell when you sit me on my potty!
| hear best when you talk to me ina quiet room. Talking Tips Because | can hear and recognize certain words you say to me, we can play and have fun in a whole new way. Here are a few simple tips to help me hear and understand you better:
First, [can only hear what you say when Im not talking or moving my mouth. So, be sure to wait until | have finished asking you questions before you say anything! Speak slowly and clearly. Its not nice to interrupt so please be patient and give me time to think and to speak before you respond.
* Just like you, | also hear best in a quiet room. Its best to stay out of noisy places. I can only recognize special words that | ask you about. So, if | ask a question like,
"Mommy, which can | have, pizza or spaghetti?" You can answer by saying either,
"Pizza" or "Spaghetti".
| understand "yes", "no" and "okay" but | like to hear "yes" more often!
* After | learn a few things, like what day it is and when my bedtime is, then we can play.
* When its time to play, I'll ask you to say my name. Then, if | recognize your voice, there are four things that you can tell me to do... but only after | get to. know your voice and after Ive said, "Mommy, what should we do?" Then I'll be listening for one of these four special phrases:
It's time to eat. "Go to the potty. glictsiplou ass "Go to sleep."
Mommy, what It's time to eat!
should we do?
Its time to eat Let When | get hungry, | love to eat. Once you set the time, V'll know when its breakfast or dinnertime but | may still ask for snack instead. (I love pancakes more than anything!) When you are feeding me, be sure to put the tip of the spoon into my mouth -- or the part of the food where Ive already taken a bite that way I'll be able to taste the yummy food!
After Ive said, "Mommy, what should we do?" you can say,
"Its time to eat!" And we'll start our eating activity!
Heres all the food that | like to eat during breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacktime!

Go to sleep
| usually like to stay up late and play, but | know that eventually it will be bedtime. Put me to bed and I'll sleep until you wake me up. Or, if you set a wake-up time, I'll wake up at that time. You can also wake me up by just squeezing my right hand, giving me a great big Mommy hug, or changing my position. When | wake up, I'll tell you all about my dreams!
Quiet Mode lf you'd like me to be quiet, you can squeeze my right hand anytime for about 7 seconds. You'll hear me say, "Okay, Mommy. I'll be quiet now." When Im being quiet, | will open and close my eyes when sitting up or laying down. To continue playing again, just squeeze my right hand. While I'm quiet, | will ask you "Mommy, can we talk now?" every four minutes. Say yes and I'll start talking again. Say no and I'll remain quiet. If | dont hear you I will fall fast asleep. Then you can squeeze my right hand again to wake me up -- and I'll tell you about my dreams. Mommy, I need you to help me fix my hair, change my clothes, wake me up, put me to bed and care for me when Im sad or not feeling well. Heres what I need you to do:
Brush My Hair
| love to have my hair brushed with my special brush. When you style my hair, . be sure to brush the top of my head first, so | know you're brushing my hair. Outfits ;
I come with two special outfits: my daytime dress and my nightie. (There are more outfits and accessories on the way that you can get for me later on!) When its time for bed,
| love to wear my warm nightie. And when its time to play, my dress is best. If my clothing is not put on right, especially around my shoulders, then | might have problems knowing what outfit Im wearing. Bedtime During the Start-up Routine, I'll ask you to set a special bedtime for me that way every night at that time I'll remind you that its time for me to go to bed. Of course, you can always allow me to stay up late and play, too!
Wake-Up Time During the Start-up Routine, I'll ask you if you want to set a special time for me to wake you up in the morning when you want to play. Everyday at that time I'll wake up and be ready for a whole new day of adventures and fun!
my i spot to have my hair f brushed, Mommy!
When Im Sad Or Sick Just like you, you never know when I might not feel well. Whenever | feel sad or sick, I'll need one of your great big Mommy hugs to feel better. | can feel your hugs when you squeeze me just right! Ahhh! Thank you, Mommy!
WORD RECOGNITION There are special words or phrases that | can hear and | have to listen for them one at a time. So please listen carefully to my questions, so you know which words Im listening for. Remember my example before? If | ask a question like, "Mommy, which can I have, pizza or Spaghetti?" You can answer by simply saying either, "Pizza" or "Spaghetti". TIP: Simple answers work best! Listen for the simple words to reply to my questions. REMEMBER!
After I ask you to say my name and I recognize your voice, I'll say, Mommy, what should we do?" then I'll be listening for one of these four special phrases from YOU:
Its time to eat! "Go to the potty!
Lets play! "Go to sleep!"
NOTE: If | dont say, "Mommy, what should we do?" then | will NOT be listening for these four important phrases. TIP!
It would be best if you can memorize these four key phrases, so we can play together more easily. You can try testing each phrase out, to make sure | understand your voice. That will help you get to know the phrases faster, too! Be sure to wait for me to ask you to say my name, so | can recognize your voice. Then wait for me to say "Mommy, what should we do?" before you say one of the four special phrases. DOs & DON'Ts DO NOT puncture, pinch or expose me to hot temperatures. DO NOT leave me in inside a car on a hot day. DO NOT leave me squished in a toy box or under anything thats heavy. DO NOT get me wet or put me into the bathtub or swimming pool. DO NOT clean me any ammonia-based detergents. It can burn my skin. DO wash my clothing; it is surface washable only and very delicate. DO keep sharp objects away from me.
