TheDGALT1isdirectlymountedtoanexistingvalveonthetransformerandcirculatestransformeroilwithin ittoprovideacontinuousreadingofhydrogeninppm.DatacanbeviewedintheQualConnexweb applicationtotrackthehydrogenppmlevelsovertimeandcompareagainstuserdefinedcautionandalarm settings. TheDGALT1isabatterypoweredwirelesssensorthattransmitsencryptedrawsignalsviaRFfrequencytothe QGatewaythatareusedforcalculatinghydrogenconcentration,moistureconcentrationandtemperature. TheDGALT1measureshydrogen(H2)withoutcrossinterferencefromothergases.Hydrogenisformedunder allknownthermalfaultconditionsinthetransformerandisoneofthefirstgasestobegenerated,makingit anexcellentearlyindicatorofabroadrangeoffaulttypes. Awebbasedcomputerapplication,providesamonitoringdashboardandnotificationsystemtoensurethat electricalassetsincludingtransformersacrossawidegeographicalareacanbequicklyreviewedtoidentify transformersshowingtrendsofincreasingriskoffailurewhilealsoreceivingautomatednotificationsbasedon alertthresholds. Thewirelessdissolvedgasanalyzerconfiguredforeasyconnectiontotransformersandotherelectrical equipmenthavinginsulatingoilandincludessensorsformeasuringhydrogengaslevels,temperature,and moisture.Asillustratedanddiscussedfurtherbelow,theanalyzerthreadsintodrainvalveofthetransformer. Thesensorincludesanopenbodythatisexposedtotheoilandhasahydrogensensitivechemochromic assemblyintheopenbody.Thecolorofthechemochromicassemblychangeswhenexposedtohydrogen. Additionally,theanalyzerincludessensorsthatdetectthetemperatureandmoistureconcentrationinthe bodyoftheelectricalequipment.
