It provides detailed instructions about using the component as well as specific requirements. The CA9450 Security System monitors doors, elevators, hallways, and stairwells, preventing the unauthorized exit of infants, children, or residents from a facility. The Mother/Baby Match system also identifies when a mother is given an whether or not it is her baby. A small Transmitter is placed on the ankle or the wrist of a child or resident. A small Mother Transmitter is also placed on the mothers wrist. After the two transmitters have been linked, each time the baby is given to the mother, the Green LED on the Mother Transmitter indicates that it is the correct baby. If an Infant transmitter is detected in an Exit Alarm Zone, for example if a child is being abducted, an alarm sounds at the exit as well as at a Central Server and its network of Clients. The Central Server and Clients also identify which child or resident sounded the alarm and the exit where the alarm occurred. The system can automatically lock doors, deactivate elevators, and activate remote cameras. The CA9450 System provides further security by alerting staff if a transmitter band is tampered with, or if any wire in the system is cut or damaged. About this Guide The Mother Transmitter User Guide is intended for users who fasten, clean, and care for Mother Transmitters. It includes detailed information about the Mother Transmitters and minimizing false alarms. Additional Documentation Documentation for the CA9450 System is available in Portable Document Format (PDF) on the CA9450 System Documentation CD-ROM. To test a Mother Transmitter 1 2 3 4 Place the Transmitter Tester directly on the Mother Transmitter. Press and hold the button on the left side of the Transmitter Tester. The device will beep once when you press the button. If the Mother Transmitter is working properly, the indicator light flashes and a tone sounds once every 15 seconds. Wait for the flash of the indicator light and the tone from the Transmitter Tester to verify that the Mother Transmitter is functioning. If the Mother Transmitter fails this test, check the battery in the device. The Transmitter Tester requires a 9V battery. Retest the Mother Transmitter. If it fails a second time, replace the Transmitter. Transmitter Press and hold the button. Indicator light 4 13 4 Wipe the Transmitter with a clean cloth or towel, and then allow the Transmitter to air-dry. The transmitter may also be rinsed with water, if required in the manufacturers instructions. Inspect the alarming band piercing contacts on the Transmitter; the contacts should be gold in color and not bent or out of alignment. 5 6 Close the clamps on the Transmitter. 7 Place the clean Transmitter in a storage container for future use. The transmitters may be sprayed or rinsed during cleaning, but are not intended to soak for an extended period of time. Alarming band piercing contacts Brush The Mother Transmitter Introduction The CA9450 System monitors doors, elevators, hallways, and stairwells, preventing the unauthorized exit of patients from a facility. A small Transmitter is placed on the ankle or the wrist of a patient. If a transmitter is detected in an Exit Alarm Zone, for example if a child is being abducted, an alarm sounds at the exit as well as at a Central Server and its network of Clients. The Central Server and Clients also identify which patient sounded the alarm and the exit where the alarm occurred. The system can automatically lock doors, deactivate elevators, and activate remote cameras. The CA9450 System provides further security by alerting staff if a transmitter band is tampered with, or if any wire in the system is cut or damaged. In addition, a small Transmitter is placed on the arm of a new mother. If when the baby is in contact with the mother, the Transmitter flashes Green LED to indicate that the baby is the correct baby for that mother. If there is a mismatch, meaning, the infant and mother transmitters do not match; the Mother Transmitter flashes the Red LED three times and sounds a beep three times. The Central Server and Clients also identify which child sounded the alarm and the exit where the alarm occurred. The Safe Place System provides further security by alerting staff if an Infant Transmitters special, alarming band is tampered with or cut. The Mother Transmitter The Safe Place Mother Transmitter is lightweight and compact. It has a 1 year life expectancy. This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions:

The term IC before the certification/registration number only signifies that the Industry Canada technical specifications were met. FCC ID: KXU-MBTX Industry Canada ID CAN 2719A - MBTX 12 5 Fastening a Mother Transmitter Cleaning and Caring for a Mother Transmitter A Mother Transmitter is a small, yellow device placed on the wrist of a new mother. When it is activated, it sends a signal that is received by Exit Alarm Receivers and Alarming Band Receivers. If a mother is handed a child wearing a transmitter that does not match her transmitter, the Red LED on the Mother Transmitter flashes and an alarm sounds to signify a mismatch. Test all transmitters prior to use to verify proper operation. Transmitter on a Mother To fasten a Mother Transmitter 1 Cut off 6-7" of alarming band material. 2 Open the clamps of the Mother Transmitter by gently pulling them outward, one clamp at a time, from the top of the Transmitter. 3 Insert the alarming band material through the slot on one side of the Mother Transmitter, from bottom to top, with the printed fabric side facing out. Guide the alarming band material through the slot at the top of the clamp. 4 Snap the clamp into place. This chapter provides detailed information about cleaning and caring for a Mother Transmitter. To clean a Mother Transmitter after use 1 Remove the alarming band from the Transmitter and dispose of the alarming band material. In order to avoid nuisance alarms, cleaning procedures should be performed at least 100 feet from any Alarming Band Zone. 2 Pre-clean the Mother Transmitter using an approved cleaner. Use the provided brush to clean the hard-to-reach areas. Brushes should be sanitized after each use according to the manufacturers instructions and your facilitys infection control procedures. Use of non-approved cleaners on Mother Transmitters may cause permanent damage to the Transmitter and the alarming band piercing contacts and will void any and all warranties. 3 Sanitize the Mother Transmitter by spraying it with an approved cleaner. Using an approved cleaner does not confirm the suitability of the cleaner to meet your infection control standard; it only indicates that the Mother Transmitter will not be harmed by the cleaner. Allow the cleaner to remain on the Mother Transmitter for the amount of time specified by the manufacturer. When using surface disinfectants and decontaminant cleaners, always follow the manufacturers instructions. Approved cleaners:
Airex 109A Cavicide Health-Tec Hi-Tor Plus Isopropyl Alcohol Neutral Quat 128 Quik Fill 920 Quest 256 Virex II-256 Sani-cloth HB (wipes) Note: Some agents are intended for topical, antimicrobial use only and will not destroy viruses such as Hepatitis B and HIV. Non-approved cleaners:
DO NOT USE Bleach Cleaners containing bleach Cidex (Including Activated, Plus, and OPA) 3M Phenolic Virex TB Virex HB Use care around the piercing contacts on the Mother Transmitter. Placing your fingers directly on the piercing contact may result in injury. 6 11 Replacing a Mother Transmitter Clamp In some cases, it may be necessary to replace damaged Mother Transmitter clamps. This done by opening the existing clamps, snapping them off of the Mother Transmitter, and inserting new clamps. To replace a Mother Transmitter clamp 1 Open the clamps all the way and gently remove them from the transmitter. 2 Insert the first clamp into the Mother Transmitter by inserting the right oval shaped pin into the hole on the right of the Mother transmitter. 3 Next, line the left oval-shaped pin up with the hole on the left side of the Mother Transmitter. 4 Gently snap the left oval shaped pin into the hole. 5 6 Close and secure the clamp. Repeat the steps above for the second clamp. Open Clamps Right Oval-Shaped pin Left Hole Right Hole Left Oval-Shaped pin Transmitter with both Clamps snapped closed WARNING: Use care around the piercing contacts on the Mother Transmitter. Placing your fingers directly on the piercing contact may result in injury. 5 6 7 8 Place the Transmitter and alarming band onto the wrist of the mother. Insert the alarming band material through the slot on the other side of the Mother Transmitter, from bottom to top. Again, guide the alarming band material through the slot at the top of the clamp. Adjust the band so that the Mother Transmitter is in a comfortable position on the mothers wrist; the band should be snug enough to prevent the Transmitter from slipping off, and loose enough to prevent discomfort. 9 Snap the clamp into place. Insert alarming band material through slot, printed side out If the Mother Transmitter is clear, it displays a Red LED indicating it is ready to be linked. WARNING: Use care around the piercing contacts on the Mother Transmitter. Placing your fingers directly on the piercing contact may result in injury. 10 7 Using the Mother Transmitter This section provides detailed information about how to program and use a Mother Transmitter.
