Your RadioShack Two-Way Family Radio is a lightweight, palm-sized radio that you can carry almost any-
where and use to talk with another person who has an FRS radio set to the same frequency (462.5625 MHz, FRS Channel! 1) as your radio. Auto-squelch--- silences the radio unless someone is_ transmitting nearby on the same channel. You can tum off auto-squelch to hear weaker, distant transmission (see Pages 3 and 4). Built-In Modulation Limiter Cir-
cuit--- automatically adjusts the ra-
dio for a wide variety of voice levels to ensure a clear transmission. Quiet Feature--- eliminates interfer-
ence from other users on the same channel. We recommend you record your radios serial number here. The number is on the radios back panel. Serial Number:
1999 Tandy Corporation. All Rights Reserved. RadioShack is a registered trademark used by Tandy Corporation. 2 a FCC INFORMATION Important: Do not open your radio to make any interna! adjustments. Your radio is set up to transmit a regulated signal on an assigned fre-
quency. It is against the law to alter or adjust the settings inside the ra-
dio to exceed those limitations. Any adjustments made to your radio must be made by a qualified techni-
cian using the proper test equip-
ment. To be safe and sure:
* Never open your radios case. e Never change or replace any-
thing in your radio except the batteries. Your radio might cause TV or radio interference even when it is operat-
ing properly. To determine whether your radio is causing the interfer-
ence, turn it off. If the interference goes away, your radio is causing it. Try to eliminate the interference by:
Moving your radio away from the receiver Calling your local Ra-dioShack store for help Using your transceiver as described in this manual exposes you to RF energy well below the FCCs recom-
mended limits. This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference re-
ceived, including interference that may cause undesired operation. o

877). 1. Be sure the radio is off, then pull the belt clip down and slide it off.(See Using the Belt Clip on Page 4.) 2. Press the tab at the bottom of the battery compartment cover and slide down the cover to remove it. 3. Install the batteries, matching the polarity symbols (+ and ) inside the compartment. 4. Replace the cover. Then rein-
sert the belt clip if desired. Caution: Do not mix old and new batteries, different types of batteries
(standard, alkaline, or recharge-
able), or rechargeable batteries of different capacities. The radios range decreases as bat-
tery power decreases. To ensure maximum range, keep fresh batter-
ies in the radio. If a tone sounds while the radio is idle or receiving, replace the batteries. When the batteries weaken, a tone sounds for about 5 seconds, the ra-
dio will not transmit or receive, and an error tone sounds whenever you press PTT, MON, or CALL. Replace the batteries. Oo ET USING THE BELT CLIP Slide the belt clip onto the tab at the back of the radio until it clicks. Then slide the clip over your belt. To remove the clip, pull up on the mid-
dle tab of the clip and slide down. USING THE HAND STRAP Slide the hand straps small loop under the bar next to VOLUME/
UP. You might need to use a small screw driver or a_ straightened paper clip to do this. Then pull the large loop through the small loop.
