This battery pack is not rechargeable and should never be recharged. If the Radar is to be stored for a long period of time then the battery pack should be removed from the device. This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. Do not use the device if it is damaged. Do not expose the device to corrosive liquids. Data from sensors are sent to a Connect Control Panel. The Connect Control Panel establishes a secure connection to a central server where the data is entered into a database. Typical sensors that are used in the Pest Connect system are the Radar Connect mouse trap and the AutoGate Connect, shown below in Figure 1. A typical installation will have many sensors communicating to the Connect Control Panel. A single Control Panel can manage up to 300 sensors and where necessary multiple Control Panels could be deployed onto a site. In such a system if the sensors fail to connect to the Control Panel they will scan for alternative Control Panels to ensure high levels of connectivity. Radar Connect AutoGate Connect Figure 1: Connect System Overview Instruction Manual Connect Radar 2022 Version 4.0 (GSD-100549) Page 4 Product Description Radar is a stand alone, battery powered unit that has been designed to capture, kill and contain mice efficiently, hygienically and humanely. It is designed primarily for high risk customers, such as food processing plants, pharmaceutical manufacturing and computer suites, where there is zero pest tolerance or conventional baiting is not allowed. However, the many product features of Radar make it suitable for a wide range of customers as it can operate in a variety of environments. Intruding mice are captured as soon as they are detected, immediately reducing the risk to the customer. They are then killed by concentrated release of carbon dioxide (CO2) into the air tight unit. CO2 is capable of killing mice extremely rapidly and is widely recognised as a humane method of control. The mouse is unconscious within 15-20 seconds and fatal levels are reached within 45 seconds of the units activation. Currently, under existing legislation, CO2 is approved for use as a rodenticide or exempt from registration in many countries. CO2 is being fully supported by Rentokil for this use under the European Biocidal Products Directive. Radar has been designed by Rentokil to exploit the travelling habits of mice as opposed to more traditional methods which target their feeding behaviours, e.g. baiting. Correctly installed units will typically be placed at wall / floor junctions, relying on a mouses natural curiosity and tendency to run against walls. Radar has two entrances, one at each end of the unit, to allow mice to run along its passageway. Two Infrared emitters are continuously pulsing light, which is reflected off the mouses fur, bouncing back to the Infrared detectors. This activates a circuit that immediately closes both entrances, trapping the mouse inside a tightly sealed chamber. Simultaneously, a pressurised canister is locked open to fill the unit with carbon dioxide. The customer is provided with 24/7 pest control and can be reassured that the product is both effective and humane, reducing the risk to their stock and premises. Radar signals the capture of a mouse sending a message to the Connect Control Panel and then Server. A technician will receive an alert and arrive promptly to empty, clean, service and reset the unit. Rigorous testing and quality controls have been implemented at every stage of the manufacturing process to ensure that Radar is a high quality product that is capable of supporting a high quality service proposition. Instruction Manual Connect Radar 2022 Version 4.0 (GSD-100549) Page 5 Product Functions The LongReach radio system ensures reliable connectivity over large distances to the control panels. Beacon signals are emitted from the Control Panels and so the Radar will connect to the Control Panel with the best connection but in an system with multiple Control Panels it will select an alternative if the connection to the initial one fails. It is important to recognise that in a linear chain of repeaters the system is only as good as the weakest link. One badly positioned Repeater can cause the loss of connection of all Sensors and Repeaters beyond it, so it is important to take time to be happy with the locations you have chosen. In general terms, Square sites tend to naturally provide multiple routes, whereas long, thin sites will require more care to ensure that there are no weak points in the system. The loss of connection to the radio system will cause Sensors to retry the connection and attempt to make a new one if it can. If connection continues to be unsuccessful the software automatically increases the time between attempts to conserve battery life. For normal usage the power consumption of the detector units is comparable to the standard Radar and MMU products therefore the recommendation is to replace all PestConnect installation detector batteries at 12 monthly intervals (all at the same time) to maximise the installed system performance. There are some system limitations that should be kept in mind, although typically should only occur in very large systems:

The maximum number of units that can be connected to a Control Panel is 300 and so if more devices are required then an additional control panel will be required. Instruction Manual Connect Radar 2022 Version 4.0 (GSD-100549) Page 6 Installation Radar units should be sited along wall / floor junctions, behind machinery and equipment, i.e. anywhere that bait boxes and mouse monitor units (MMUs) would normally be placed. Units should be secured with fixing brackets if possible to prevent the unit being accidentally moved, knocked or removed by unauthorised persons. The unit ideally should be sited where the LED is clearly visible to signal an activation. Environmental Restrictions Details Outdoor use Radar has been specifically designed for indoor applications only. The product is not suitable for outdoor use. High levels of surface water The system electronics can be damaged by water. Take care to locate units away from areas where local high pressure washing or hosing down operations are carried out. High levels of dust /

grease Knocking / kicking Extreme temperature

(<0C) It is important that units are kept clean, especially if installed in areas where high levels of dust or grease are present. Cleaning guidelines must be followed to prevent damage to the units. Care must be taken to locate units away from pedestrian traffic to avoid false activation. This can be prevented by mounting units on fixing brackets. Extremely low temperatures (i.e. unheated warehouses) could affect Radars performance and may result in the unit entering low battery status mode. High humidity (> 80%) or condensation High humidity and / or condensation could result in damage to the units control electronics and result in false activations. High levels of vibration High vibration due to localised machinery / fridge compressors etc could affect the performance of the unit and result in false activations. Instruction Manual Connect Radar 2022 Version 4.0 (GSD-100549) Page 7 Setup Open the Radar unit using the supplied key. (Figure 1) The unit is supplied with the battery fitted. Slide circuit board switch to ON the LED will be red. (Figure 2) Pass your finger across the first beam and the LED will flicker repeatedly. (Figure 3) Move your finger to the second beam within four seconds the solenoid will self test to complete check and the unit doors will close. If the Control Panel is operating and in range of the Radar then the LED will flash purple to indicate that the beacon signal is being received. After a short period* the LED will flash blue to indicate that it has successfully joined the network. If however there is no beacon signal within range then the LED will flash red at this point you should check that the Control Panel is powered otherwise an additional Control Panel could be required on the site. Once the Radar has joined the network, set the trigger by pressing the red door level down until it is locked under the blue catch. (Figure 4 & 5) Remove the blue safety pin from the CO2 canister and ensure the canister is within its expiry date before installing into the unit. (Figure 6 & 7) Locate the canister in position it should not need forcing. (Figure 8) Close the unit securely. * The time taken to join the network will depend on which radio scheme is being used i.e. which country the units are deployed. In the European regions the join time should be less than 30 seconds but in North American and some Asian regions where frequency hopping protocol is used it could take a few minutes to join the network. Instruction Manual Connect Radar 2022 Version 4.0 (GSD-100549) Page 8 Setup (cont.) The LongReach enabled Control Panel should be powered before starting to install the sensors. Ensure that the LongReach network has started up by checking that the Network Symbol (shown below) is no longer flashing on the display. As each device joins the network the Number of Connected Devices shown will increment. Note: if the device is switched off it will remain in the device count for 3 hours or until the Control Panel is reset. It should be noted that messages are only sent every 15 minutes from a Radar device and so it could take up to this time for the messages to appear on the queue on the Control Panel. As the communication is encrypted the negotiation of the session can also take 15 minutes meaning that the initial message will take up to 30 minutes. To put the Radar into Radio Check Mode, switch on the Radar and wait for 10 seconds. The LED will be solid red for the first 10 seconds and then change to orange when Radio Check can start. Break the infrared beams (in the same way as the normal setup) to start the Radio Check. The LED will now flash each 2.7 seconds to indicate the state of the connection to the Control Panel with the following values:

When the Radar has been set it will report the status of System Sensing to the servers. If a mouse is detected then the Radar will trigger and report iR Triggered to the servers. Radar units should NOT be cleaned internally with water or wet cloths, or any form of spray cleaner. Externally the units can be cleaned with a dry cloth, and internally a dry cloth or dry soft brush only. Ensure that you wear protective gloves during the cleaning of the unit. Remove the dead mouse and dispose of it in accordance to standard protocol. Remove any external dirt, paying particular attention to any accumulated dirt on the underside of the unit. Clean the inside of the unit, cleaning any fur, urine, droppings, etc. Battery Change Alkaline batteries should be disposed of in accordance with local, national or state regulations, or recycled where such facilities exist. It is recommended that battery packs are replaced when there is a low battery alert for the device, or if the solenoid fails to activate during testing. Exhausted batteries are to be removed from the Radar and disposed of as above. To replace the battery remove the label which holds it in place, remove the connector from the electronics board and remove the battery. Instruction Manual Connect Radar 2022 Version 4.0 (GSD-100549) Page 11 Changing CO2 Canister A new canister will need to be inserted every time the Radar unit is activated (please ensure a new canister is within the expiry date). After firing, the red wedge at the neck of the CO2 canister it is held inside by a ratchet that empties it completely. This ensures that empty canisters cannot be reused by mistake. Empty canisters are not classified as hazardous waste and can therefore be disposed of in accordance with local, national or state regulations, or recycled where such facilities exist. However, full canisters are classified as Hazardous Pesticide Waste and therefore MUST be discharged prior to disposal. The canisters should be discharged by holding the canister horizontally away from the body and pushing the trigger, thus dispensing the contents. It is recommended that CO2 canisters are replaced every 12 months, irrespective of use, to ensure that they are fit for purpose. Canisters that have been emptied should be marked as used by pressing a dent into the can as shown below. Note: This product contains a pressurised Carbon Dioxide (CO2) canister. Data from sensors is sent to a Connect Control Panel which establishes a secure connection to a central server where the data is passed to the Rentokil Systems. Typical sensors that are used in the Pest Connect system are the Connect Radar mouse trap and the AutoGate Connect, shown below in Figure 1. A typical installation will have many sensors communicating to the Connect Control Panel and a single control panel can manage up to 300 sensors. Where necessary multiple Control Panels could be deployed onto a site and up to 8 co-located control panels are permitted. In such a system if the sensors fail to connect to the Control Panel they will scan for alternative Control Panels to ensure high levels of connectivity. NOTE: The control panels that are suitable for using with AutoGate Connect must also be equipped with LongReach technology. Radar Connect AutoGate Connect Figure 1: Connect System Overview Instruction Manual Connect AutoGate/ 2017 Version 0.4 (GSD-100548) Page 4 Product Description AutoGate Connect is a battery powered unit that has been designed to detect rats and provides a barrier between the entry section of a bait box and the bait section. AutoGate Connect units have two infrared emitters which continuously pulse light, and are reflected off the rats fur, bouncing back to the Infrared detectors. If the beams from both detectors are broken simultaneously then this counts as one activation. Once the sensor is triggered 3 times, with at least a five minute interval between each activation, the gate will open allowing the rats to access the bait in the bait section of the box. Note: There is a five minute interval between each of the 3 required activations to ensure that the gate is not triggered three times by one visiting rat. AutoGate Connect features a motorised door capable of opening and closing. This enables the bait to be isolated again after the baiting period by automatically closing again after, for example 5 days. There is also an enhanced display that enables the technician to view, for example, number of days since baiting started, number of activations and battery level. The AutoGate Connect units will fit into FT150 and FT155 bait boxes (shown below). The display items are shown below. Days since Gate was Opened represents the number of days since the gate was first opened. This corresponds to the number of days that you have been baiting. Number of Activations since gate was armed represents the count of the number of times that a rat has been in the bait box. This includes when the gate is open and closed. Battery Percentage Indicator represents the battery level as a percentage. Technician Setup when this item is selected all of the sensors must be activated in order to arm the AutoGate Connect device. Gate Armed means that the AutoGate has been set up correctly. Note: If this LED is lit together with any of the first 3 then the gate will continue to function after the display goes out. Indicating that there have been 4 activations Instruction Manual Connect AutoGate/ 2017 Version 0.4 (GSD-100548) Page 7 Installing an AutoGate Open the bait box that you wish to install the AutoGate in. With the External LED on the AutoGate on the right hand side, insert the AutoGate into place such that the door is in the middle of the bait box and the support arms are either side of the walls as shown below. Instruction Manual Connect AutoGate/ 2017 Version 0.4 (GSD-100548) Page 8 Setting the AutoGate Push the button to scroll through the menu in order to set the AutoGate. The AutoGate is only successfully set when the indicator is displayed. When the Technician Setup is selected then the door will move up/down/up to test the motor and door sensors. If there is an error then E4 will be displayed on the display. After successfully testing the door the display will show 2 dots to indicate that it is ready to test the sensors as shown below. Ready to test sensors. Move hand in front of the Bait side sensor and the middle bars will be displayed as shown. Move hand in front of the right hand Entry side sensor and right bar is displayed as shown. Move hand in front of the left hand Entry side sensor and left bar is displayed as shown. Once all 3 sensors have been tested (in any order) the radio will scan for connection to a Control Panel. If connected it will display r and a number. The number is the signal strength from 0-9. E.g. r8 as shown. If there is no connection only the r will be displayed while scanning. Once the Gate is tested and connected to the Control Panel the ON symbol is lit as shown. Page 9 Instruction Manual Connect AutoGate/ 2017 Version 0.4 (GSD-100548) Checking the AutoGate When the AutoGate is visited there are two options to check the functions:

Checking without resetting the AutoGate:

If the AutoGate is open when visited then it is possible to verify the number of days that the gate has been open, the number of rodent visits, battery percentage by pressing the button. The LED will also be lit (see below) in the case that the AutoGate is armed and in that case the full technician test is not required. If the technician test is not carried out then the #Days and #Rodents counts on the display will not be reset and the gate will close as expected after the programmed number of open days. Checking with a Service Reset:

If the AutoGate is closed when visited then it is recommended to do a full technician test. In this case scroll down to the position and carry out the technician test. This will reset the #Days and #Rodents counts on the display to zero. Signal Strength Test When finding a good position to place the bait box and AutoGate it is possible to run a signal test where the signal strength is shown every 2.5 seconds on the display. Scroll to the position until the two dots are displayed (shown blow). Press the button and the AutoGate will start Signal Strength test mode. Press the button again to return to the technician test. Note: This mode will timeout after 2 minutes. In signal strength test mode, a value between r0 and r9 will be displayed. AutoGates should not be deployed when the signal strength shows r0 and installing another Control Panel would be advised. Data from sensors are sent to a Connect Control Panel. The Connect Control Panel establishes a secure connection to a central server where the data is entered into a database. Typical sensors that are used in the Pest Connect system are the Radar Connect mouse trap and the AutoGate Connect, shown below in Figure 1. A typical installation will have many sensors communicating to the Connect Control Panel. A single Control Panel can manage up to 300 sensors and where necessary multiple Control Panels could be deployed onto a site. In such a system if the sensors fail to connect to the Control Panel they will scan for alternative Control Panels to ensure high levels of connectivity. Radar Connect AutoGate Connect Figure 1: Connect System Overview Instruction Manual Connect Radar 2017 Version 1.1 (GSD-100549) Page 4 Product Description Radar is a stand alone, battery powered unit that has been designed to capture, kill and contain mice efficiently, hygienically and humanely. It is designed primarily for high risk customers, such as food processing plants, pharmaceutical manufacturing and computer suites, where there is zero pest tolerance or conventional baiting is not allowed. However, the many product features of Radar make it suitable for a wide range of customers as it can operate in a variety of environments. Intruding mice are captured as soon as they are detected, immediately reducing the risk to the customer. They are then killed by concentrated release of carbon dioxide (CO2) into the air tight unit. CO2 is capable of killing mice extremely rapidly and is widely recognised as a humane method of control. The mouse is unconscious within 15-20 seconds and fatal levels are reached within 45 seconds of the units activation. Currently, under existing legislation, CO2 is approved for use as a rodenticide or exempt from registration in many countries. CO2 is being fully supported by Rentokil for this use under the European Biocidal Products Directive. Radar has been designed by Rentokil to exploit the travelling habits of mice as opposed to more traditional methods which target their feeding behaviours, e.g. baiting. Correctly installed units will typically be placed at wall / floor junctions, relying on a mouses natural curiosity and tendency to run against walls. Radar has two entrances, one at each end of the unit, to allow mice to run along its passageway. Two Infrared emitters are continuously pulsing light, which is reflected off the mouses fur, bouncing back to the Infrared detectors. This activates a circuit that immediately closes both entrances, trapping the mouse inside a tightly sealed chamber. Simultaneously, a pressurised canister is locked open to fill the unit with carbon dioxide. The customer is provided with 24/7 pest control and can be reassured that the product is both effective and humane, reducing the risk to their stock and premises. Radar signals the capture of a mouse sending a message to the Connect Control Panel and then Server. A technician will receive an alert and arrive promptly to empty, clean, service and reset the unit. Rigorous testing and quality controls have been implemented at every stage of the manufacturing process to ensure that Radar is a high quality product that is capable of supporting a high quality service proposition. Instruction Manual Connect Radar 2017 Version 1.1 (GSD-100549) Page 5 Product Functions The LongReach radio system ensures reliable connectivity over large distances to the control panels. Beacon signals are emitted from the Control Panels and so the Radar will connect to the Control Panel with the best connection but in an system with multiple Control Panels it will select an alternative if the connection to the initial one fails. It is important to recognise that in a linear chain of repeaters the system is only as good as the weakest link. One badly positioned Repeater can cause the loss of connection of all Sensors and Repeaters beyond it, so it is important to take time to be happy with the locations you have chosen. In general terms, Square sites tend to naturally provide multiple routes, whereas long, thin sites will require more care to ensure that there are no weak points in the system. The loss of connection to the radio system will cause Sensors to retry the connection and attempt to make a new one if it can. If connection continues to be unsuccessful the software automatically increases the time between attempts to conserve battery life. For normal usage the power consumption of the detector units is comparable to the standard Radar and MMU products therefore the recommendation is to replace all PestConnect installation detector batteries at 12 monthly intervals (all at the same time) to maximise the installed system performance. There are some system limitations that should be kept in mind, although typically should only occur in very large systems:

The maximum number of units that can be connected to a Control Panel is 300 and so if more devices are required then an additional control panel will be required. Instruction Manual Connect Radar 2017 Version 1.1 (GSD-100549) Page 6 Installation Radar units should be sited along wall / floor junctions, behind machinery and equipment, i.e. anywhere that bait boxes and mouse monitor units (MMUs) would normally be placed. Units should be secured with fixing brackets if possible to prevent the unit being accidentally moved, knocked or removed by unauthorised persons. The system electronics can be damaged by water. Take care to locate units away from areas where local high pressure washing or hosing down operations are carried out. It is important that units are kept clean, especially if installed in areas where high levels of dust or grease are present. Cleaning guidelines must be followed to prevent damage to the units. Care must be taken to locate units away from pedestrian traffic to avoid false activation. This can be prevented by mounting units on fixing brackets. Extremely low temperatures (i.e. unheated warehouses) could affect Radars performance and may result in the unit entering low battery status mode. High humidity and / or condensation could result in damage to the units control electronics and result in false activations. High vibration due to localised machinery / fridge compressors etc could affect the performance of the unit and result in false activations. Instruction Manual Connect Radar 2017 Version 1.1 (GSD-100549) Page 7 Setup Open the Radar unit using the supplied key. (Figure 1) The unit is supplied with the battery fitted. Slide circuit board switch to ON the LED will be red. (Figure 2) Pass your finger across the first beam and the LED will flicker repeatedly. (Figure 3) Move your finger to the second beam within four seconds the solenoid will self test to complete check and the unit doors will close. If the Control Panel is operating and in range of the Radar then the LED will flash purple to indicate that the beacon signal is being received. After a short period* the LED will flash blue to indicate that it has successfully joined the network. If however there is no beacon signal within range then the LED will flash red at this point you should check that the Control Panel is powered otherwise an additional Control Panel could be required on the site. Once the Radar has joined the network, set the trigger by pressing the red door level down until it is locked under the blue catch. (Figure 4 & 5) Remove the blue safety pin from the CO2 canister and ensure the canister is within its expiry date before installing into the unit. (Figure 6 & 7) Locate the canister in position it should not need forcing. (Figure 8) Close the unit securely. In the European regions the join time should be less than 30 seconds but in North American and some Asian regions where frequency hopping protocol is used it could take a few minutes to join the network. Ensure that the LongReach network has started up by checking that the Network Symbol (shown below) is no longer flashing on the display. As each device joins the network the Number of Connected Devices shown will increment. Note:

if the device is switched off it will remain in the device count for 3 hours or until the Control Panel is reset. It should be noted that messages are only sent every 15 minutes from a Radar device and so it could take up to this time for the messages to appear on the queue on the Control Panel. As the communication is encrypted the negotiation of the session can also take 15 minutes meaning that the initial message will take up to 30 minutes. The recommended cleaning product for Radar is the Universal Hard Surface Wipes (PSU01). These wipes are readily available from Rentokil Initial Supplies. Ensure that you wear protective gloves during the cleaning of the unit. Remove the dead mouse and dispose of it in accordance to standard protocol. Remove any external dirt, paying particular attention to any accumulated dirt on the underside of the unit. Clean the inside of the unit, cleaning any fur, urine, droppings, etc. Battery Change Alkaline batteries should be disposed of in accordance with local, national or state regulations, or recycled where such facilities exist. After firing, the red wedge at the neck of the CO2 canister it is held inside by a ratchet that empties it completely. This ensures that empty canisters cannot be reused by mistake. Empty canisters are not classified as hazardous waste and can therefore be disposed of in accordance with local, national or state regulations, or recycled where such facilities exist. However, full canisters are classified as Hazardous Pesticide Waste and therefore MUST be discharged prior to disposal. The canisters should be discharged by holding the canister horizontally away from the body and pushing the trigger, thus dispensing the contents. It is recommended that CO2 canisters are replaced every 12 months, irrespective of use, to ensure that they are fit for purpose. Instruction Manual Connect Control Panel/ 2017 Version 1.2 (GSD-100548) Page 3 Pest Connect Overview Pest Connect is a system that enables remote monitoring of devices. Data from sensors is sent to a Connect Control Panel which establishes a secure connection to a central server where the data is entered into a database. Typical sensors that are used in the Pest Connect system are the Radar Connect mouse trap and the AutoGate Connect, shown below in Figure 1. A typical installation will have many sensors communicating to the Connect Control Panel and a single control panel can manage up to 300 sensors. Where necessary multiple Control Panels could be deployed onto a site and up to 8 co-located control panels are permitted. In such a system if the sensors fail to connect to the Control Panel they will scan for alternative Control Panels to ensure high levels of connectivity. Radar Connect Figure 1: Connect System Overview AutoGate Connect Instruction Manual Connect Control Panel/ 2017 Version 1.2 (GSD-100548) Page 4 Product Description The control panel is the hub of the on-site installed system as all the data from the sensors is collected here. The Control Panel passes the information onto Rentokils system servers using mobile data technology. Every significant event is communicated to the servers, together with hourly health check reports, and daily sensor reports. The Control Panel also monitors for devices which fail to make contact for a significant time and reports these to the Rentokil servers to enable further action to be taken. The Control Panel display shows a number of areas of information that show the current status of the system. These are useful for providing confidence that all devices are connected and can aid limited diagnostics onsite. The parameters displayed are shown below:

Messages Queued Number of connected devices Server Time Messages Sent Mobile Signal Strength Server Time: This is always set to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT+00) and so does not change for daylight saving time. Number of Connected Devices: This is the number of sensors that are connected to the Control panel. The Control Panel will expect regular data from these devices. If the sensors fail to connect for 3 hours then this number will decrease. Messages Sent: This is the number of messages from the sensors that have been sent to the server. NOTE: If more than 1000 messages have been sent then the S- will become S+ in this field. Messages in Queue: This is the number of messages from the sensors that are waiting to be sent to the server. An attempt to send the messages to the server is made every minute. After three attempts if the Control Panel could not connect to the server it will not make any further attempts to contact the server for one hour. Messages received during this hour will be entered on the queue. Mobile Signal Strength: This is an indicative value of the strength of the mobile signal. If there is no connection then the telephone symbol will be flashing. Swipe the magnet on the left hand side of the display. X X Magnet swipe points X X X X Swiping the magnet over the left hand point

(shown above) the diagnostic screen will be Shown. This shows firmware versions and the RF network region. The MCC shows the country that the SIM card connected to and the RGN shows the radio region scheme that was used. Additional swipes on the left hand point will move to the next screen in the menu. If you swipe over the right hand point this would send a Network Status report to the server Similarly, swiping on the left hand point will bring up the next menu and swiping the right will send the Control Panel report to the server. Once the right hand point has been activated It will indicate that it is indeed sending the report. X Page 6 Instruction Manual Connect Control Panel/ 2017 Version 1.2 (GSD-100548) Inserting the SIM The LongReach Control Panels are supplied with a global SIM card but if the SIM card needs to be replaced then follow the following steps. 1) Ensure that the Control Panel is unplugged from the power supply. 2) Open the Control Panel by unscrewing the 4 screws. Take care when the enclosure is open 3) to not detach the antenna connector from the board. Insert your SIM card into the slot as shown in Figure 1. The SIM card should be inserted with the gold contacts facing the front of the Control Panel, and with the cut-off corner outermost, see diagram below. IMPORTANT: Note the SIM card number and Control Panel barcode to report to the System Administrator. Instruction Manual Connect Control Panel/ 2017 Version 1.2 (GSD-100548) Page 8 Locating the Control Panel Before fixing the Control Panel to the wall it is important to verify that the location has suitable mobile network coverage. Power up the unit and then temporarily place (or hold) the Panel in the desired location. When you first power up the unit you will see that the time in the bottom left of the display is 00:00. Within 5 minutes the time is updated to show the server time (Note:

The server time is Greenwich Mean Time and so will not necessarily correspond to local time). This means that the Control Panel has successfully made contact with the Rentokil server. The reception strength bars on the bottom right of the display are shown and if the Control Panel is correctly located then this should show 3 or more bars. If the time is not updated or the Signal Strength indicator shows less than 3 bars then you should investigate alterative locations for the Panel. Note: if the Control Panel does not update the time within 5 minutes of being powered on then no further attempts to connect with the server will be made for 1 hour. During a setup phase if power is removed from the Control Panel and re-applied then another sequence of 5 minutely attempts will occur. There are a number of error messages that can be displayed when the panel is first connecting to the server, this often occurs when a Control Panel is connecting via a new network, the Panel will continue to try to connect, so these messages may clear after a short while. If they are still showing after 10 minutes then you should restart the Panel. If the messages continue to show for 5 minutes a second time, then you should refer to your PestConnect system contact. Having successfully selected a location and proved that the signal is good, the bracket can be mounted to the wall (as shown in the next section), the Control Panel attached and then powered up. Once the time has updated you are ready to proceed with the installation of the system (please refer to the equipment manuals for the devices that are being installed for more details). Instruction Manual Connect Control Panel/ 2017 Version 1.2 (GSD-100548) Page 9 Problems with connection to the Control Panel from Sensors are very rare. Connection issues are typically only related to low signal strength caused by obstructions in the Radio path. It is useful for the installer to understand the type of obstructions that can cause issues, although radio waves are very complex and sometimes work contrary to initial expectations, so the best method is to try it out. Example 1 Warehouse area with large, closely stocked produce containers Radio frequencies can easily be absorbed by buildings and stock, so it is worth considering this when installing the system. In particular, large, densely stored containers of produce (especially fine product such as grain or nuts) can reduce signals very quickly if you try to go through them. Finally be aware of empty racking when installing the system. What is empty today might not be tomorrow!

This is where the technicians knowledge of the site can be very useful. Example 2 Metalwork Metal reflects radio signals, so often helps bounce the radio waves around. However, radio doesnt like going through metal, especially if the metal is continuous. A chilled storage area on one site showed much lower signal levels, because the foil coated insulation reduced the signal significantly, compared to those even just outside the room. The solution here was to move the control panel nearer to the effected area. In an extremely bad situation it may be necessary to add an additional control panel. Fixing PestConnect units to metalwork, electrical conduit or cable tray can reduce effectiveness of the system, so should be avoided if possible; ideally units should be at least 20cm clear of such objects. Example 3 Adjacent systems Multiple Pestconnect systems will work perfectly well next to each other, and it is possible for many systems to be present on a single site. In many instances it can lead to a more robust system. It is important to remember that radio waves do not respect building boundaries. Just because a system is all set up in one building wont mean that it will connect that way. An example of this can be where the end sensors of two systems in separate buildings end up very close to one another. This can then provide a link between the units in both building. Equally the units dont have to be physically close. A sensor installed at the edge on a warehouse could quite likely find a better signal strength from a control panel in a building 200m away across an open courtyard or car park than it can get from the control panel in the same building 50m away the other side of several rows of fully stocked racking. Fortunately this doesnt matter, because each sensor is uniquely identifiable and registered to its location, so its data will correctly appear in the server, no matter which route or Control Panel it used to do this. Instruction Manual Connect Control Panel/ 2017 Version 1.2 (GSD-100548) Page 10 Installation Once the best position for mounting the control panel is decided, mount the bracket to the wall. Mark the position of the bracket holes on the wall (57mm between 4mm hole centres, see Figure 4). Drill the appropriate holes to mount the bracket. Care should be taken to avoid any hazards when drilling. The Connect Control Panel is mounted to the bracket by firstly locating the top into the wall bracket and then pushing the bottom edge into place (see Figure 5). 4mm Figure 4. Wall Bracket Figure 5. Instruction Manual Connect Control Panel/ 2017 Version 1.2 (GSD-100548) Page 11 Mounting the Antenna The extended antenna that is supplied has a 3m (~9ft) cable and should always be mounted at a distance greater than 30cm from the enclosure. The antenna is simply attached to a surface with adhesive tape as shown below. Peel back protective coating to reveal adhesive tape The antenna should be mounted as high as possible but at least 30cm from the ceiling. It is also advisable to avoid mounting the antenna near to metal shelving or cabinets as this will attenuate the signals. To obtain the best possible signal strength the antenna should be stuck to a non-

conductive surface such as glass or wood. If the surface is metallic then ensure that there is a spacer of at least 5cm from the surface. You could try the SIM in another communications device and try connecting to the internet to prove data is enabled. The Control Panel will Modem fault automatically restart the modem showing the message Restart Modem, if this fails you can try restarting the Control Panel. The Sensor should be parallel to trap as shown left. Install Step 5 Fit Rubber Bungs Fit the two supplied rubber bungs to the sensor using the allen key supplied. This is required to close and seal the two unused holes to prevent water ingress (mandatory). Please note that this bolt configuration is for Victor Tin Cat. Use the other set of holes for rubber bungs sealing the JT Eaton Tin Cat. Push the bung firmly down to fully insert as shown. The top of the rubber bung must be level or sub flush to the top surface in both positions. 13 Install Step 6 Fit Label to Trap Fit the supplied black label inside the Victor/JT Eaton at the opposite end of the trap from the sensor (mandatory). Peel back the release liner to reveal the adhesive and adhere accordingly. Please note that this configuration
