Wireless microphone and instrument systems were originally developed to eliminate cables, providing unparalleled freedom of movement. AirLine takes this concept to a new level with transmitters so small, lightweight and aerodynamic, they are nearly invisible, providing a completely hassle-free user experience. To create the worlds smallest wireless transmitters, we developed new proprietary technology. Featuring miniaturized circuitry and the ability to operate on a single tiny AAA battery (with 14 hours typical battery life), these transmitters also provide significantly improved wireless reception and sound quality. Whats more, the AP1 receiver developed especially for the AirLine guitar system is actually smaller than the typical wireless transmitter. E N G L I S H The Samson AirLine UHF guitar system detailed in this manual is designed to replace the cable between your electric guitar or bass and your onstage amplifier or PA mixer, freeing you to roam the stage or even visit the audience in the middle of your performance!

It operates in the uncrowded 801 - 805 MHz UHF frequency range and contains an AP1 stomp box-style receiver and either of two plug-in micro-transmitter modelsan AF1 (designed to fit the recessed style jack in Fender Stratocaster-type guitars) or an AG1

(which fits all other standard end-mount guitar jacks). In this manual, youll find a more detailed description of the features of your AirLine system, as well as a guided tour through all components, step-by-step instructions for setting up and using your system and full specifications. If your AirLine system was purchased in the United States, youll also find a warranty card encloseddont forget to fill it out and mail it! This will enable you to receive online technical support and will allow us to send you updated information about this and other Samson products in the future. S., contact your local distributor for information. 1 Samson AirLine QuickStart I H S L G N E If youve had some prior experience using wireless systems, these QuickStart instructions will get you up and running with your AirLine UHF guitar system in a matter of minutes! Detailed instructions for setting up and using your AirLine system can be found on page 9 of this manual, and the Guided Tour sections on pages 4 - 8 provide full descriptions of all AirLine component controls and displays. 1. Make sure that the supplied AP1 receiver and AF1 or AG1 transmitter are factory preset to the same channel. 2. Physically place the AP1 receiver where it will be used and extend its antennas vertically and spread outwards. 3. Set the power switch on your AF1 or AG1 transmitter to the off position (away from the arrow) and place a fresh AAA battery in it. Then turn the transmitter back on momentarily; its LED will flash once and then go off if the battery is sufficiently strong. Once battery strength is verified, turn the transmitter off again, then plug it into your electric guitar or bass. 4. Open the battery compartment of the AP1 by pressing on the latch and install a fresh battery; if you prefer, you can use an optional power supply instead. Turn the AP1 on momentarily to confirm that the battery has been installed correctly (or that the adapter has been connected correctly); the On/Battery Low LED should light green and not red. Then turn the AP1 power off. 5. Turn your amplifier or mixer off and make the physical cable connection between an audio input and the AP1 output jack. 6. Turn the Level knob on the AP1 completely counterclockwise, then turn its power on; the Power LED will light steadily green. 7. Turn on your AF1 or AG1 transmitter. The TX/Peak LED on the AP1 receiver should light steadily green, indicating that it is receiving valid RF signal and is placed and positioned correctly. 2 QuickStart Samson AirLine 8. Turn on the connected amplifier or mixer but keep its volume all the way down. Set the output level of your instrument to max-

imum and begin playing at a normal performance level while observing the AP1 TX/Peak LED. If the LED lights red (indicating a Peak condition) even with the AP1 Level control fully counterclockwise, engage the 15 dB pad on the transmitter. If not, slowly turn the Level control clockwise to the point where the TX/Peak LED occasionally blinks red during the very loudest passages, then back it off just slightly. Finally, raise the level of your connected amplifier and/or mixer until the desired volume is reached. 9. Do a walkaround through the intended area of coverage while observing the receivers TX/Peak LED; it should continue to be lit steadily green, indicating sufficient RF reception in all areas of coverage. If not, reposition the AP1 or its antennas as necessary. 10. If you hear any spurious noise from the receiver output when the transmitter is turned off, use the supplied plastic screwdriver to adjust the AP1 Squelch control, slowly turning it clockwise to the point at which the noise disappears. H I L E V E L P IC KUPS AP1 UHF RECEIVER OPEN 1: Power switch - Move this switch in the direction of the arrow to turn power to the AP1 on; move it away from the arrow to turn power off. 2: Power On / Battery Low LED - This LED lights green whenever the AP1 is powered on and it lights red whenever the battery in the AP1 is running low. In order to avoid compromising audio fidelity (or having the AP1 stop working completely), you should always replace the battery with a fresh one immediately whenever this LED lights red. 5 3: TX / Peak LED - This LED lights green whenever the AP1 is receiving RF signal from a transmitter and it lights red when output signal from the AP1 is at the onset of clipping (that is, when it is on the verge of being distorted). If you see this light during operation, lower the volume level of your instrument or switch on the transmitters 15 dB pad. For more information, see the section entitled Setting Up and Using Your AirLine System on page 9 in this manual. 4: Level control - This knob sets the level of the audio signal being output through the AP1 output jack (see #9 on page 6). When using an electric guitar or bass with an active or high-level pickup, set the knob in the marked area. For more information, see the section entitled Setting Up and Using Your AirLine System on page 9 in this manual. 4 Guided Tour - AP1 Receiver Samson AirLine 5: Antennas - Swivel mounting allows full rotation for optimum positioning of the dual AP1 antennas. In normal operation, both antennas should be placed in a vertical position and spread slightly outward. For convenience, they can be folded inward when transporting the AP1. See the Setting Up and Using Your AirLine System section on page 9 in this manual for more information about antenna positioning. 6: Battery compartment latch - Press gently on this latch to open the AP1 battery compartment (see #7 below). 7: Battery compartment - Insert a standard 9-volt alkaline battery here, being sure to observe the plus and minus polarity markings shown. We recommend the Duracell MN 1604 type battery. Although rechargeable Ni-Cad batteries can be used, they do not supply adequate current for more than four hours. WARNING: Do not insert the battery backwards; doing so can cause severe damage to the AP1 and will void your warranty. Note that the AP1 can also be AC powered with the use of an optional 12 volt adapter available from your Samson dealer (see #10 on the following page). 8: Plastic screwdriver - Specially designed for use in adjusting the AP1 Squelch control (see #11 on the following page). H I L E V E L P IC KUPS AP1 UHF RECEIVER 7 8 SAMSON Samson AirLine Guided Tour - AP1 Receiver I H S L G N E OUTPUT 9 10 MIN MAX SQUELCH DC INPUT 12 VDC 11 9: Output jack - Use this standard unbalanced high impedance (5 - 10 K Ohm) 1/4" jack to connect the AP1 to your amplifier or audio mixer. Wiring is as follows: tip hot, sleeve ground. 10: DC input - Connect an optional 12 volt 200 mA power adapter (available from your Samson dealer) here. WARNING: Do not substitute any other kind of power adapter; doing so can cause severe damage to the AP1 and will void your warranty. Note that the AP1 can also be battery powered (see #7 on the previous page and the Setting Up and Using Your AirLine System section on page 9 in this manual). 11: Squelch control - This control determines the maximum range of the AP1 before audio signal dropout. Although it can be adjusted using the supplied plastic screwdriver, it should normally be left at its factory setting. See the Setting Up and Using Your AirLine System section on page 9 in this manual for more information. 6 Guided Tour - AF1 / AG1 Transmitters Samson AirLine 2 3 4 5 1 AF1 15dB PAD POWER E N G L I S H Note: The AF1 and AG1 transmitters are functionally identical apart from the angling of the 1/4 plug. For purposes of illustration, only the AF1 is shown on these pages. 1: Plug - Insert this standard 1/4 plug into your electric guitar or electric bass. Note that the angling of the plug is different in the AF1 (which is designed to be used with instruments that have Fender Stratocaster-type recessed jacks) than in the AG1 (which is designed to be used with all other instruments that have end mount-jacks). 2: Power / Battery LED - This LED flashes once when the AF1 or AG1 is first turned on and lights steadily red when there are less than 2 hours of battery power remaining, indicating that the battery needs to be changed. In order to avoid compromising audio fidelity (or having the AF1 / AG1 stop working completely), you should always replace the battery with a fresh one immediately whenever this LED lights red. 7 Samson AirLine Guided Tour - AF1 / AG1 Transmitters I H S L G N E N O S M A S AF1 15dB PAD 7 PO WER 3: 15 dB Pad - Move this switch in the direction of the arrow to reduce the output of the AF1 or AG1 by 15 dB when your instrument is putting out too hot a signal. See the Setting Up and Using the AirLine System section on page 9 in this manual. 6 4: Power switch - Move this switch in the direction of the arrow to turn power to the AF1 or AG1 on; move it away from the arrow to turn power off. 5: Antenna - This permanently attached flexible antenna should be fully extended during normal operations. See the Setting Up and Using the AirLine System section on page 9 in this manual for more information about antenna positioning. 6: Battery cover - Pull back gently on this cover at the ribbing and pry upwards to remove. See the Setting Up and Using the AirLine System section on page 9 in this manual. 7: Battery compartment - Insert a standard AAA alkaline battery here, being sure to observe the plus and minus polarity markings shown. We recommend the Duracell type battery. Although rechargeable Ni-Cad batteries can be used, they do not supply adequate current for more than four hours. WARNING: Do not insert the battery backwards; doing so can cause severe damage to the AF1 / AG1 and will void your warranty. 8 Setting Up and Using Your AirLine System Samson AirLine E N G L I S H The basic procedure for setting up and using your AirLine System takes only a few minutes:

1. For your AirLine system to work correctly, both the receiver and transmitter must be set to the same channel. Remove all packing materials (save them in case of need for future service) and check to make sure that the supplied AP1 receiver and AF1 or AG1 transmitter are set to the same channel (a complete channel plan is printed on page 47 in this manual). If these channels do not match, contact your distributor or, if purchased in the United States, Samson Technical Support at 1-800-372-6766. 2. Physically place the AP1 receiver where it will be used. The general rule of thumb is to maintain line of sight between the receiver and transmitter so that the person using the transmitter can see the receiver. If you are using the AP1 to feed signal to an onstage amplifier, a good suggestion is to place it on top of the amplifier. 3. Extend the AP1 antennas and place them in a vertical position, spread slightly outwards for maximum coverage. 4. Make sure the Power On-Off switch in your AF1 or AG1 transmitter is set to Off and that the 15 dB pad is also Off (switch away from the direction of the arrow). Pull back gently on the AF1 or AG1 battery cover at the ribbing and pry it upwards to remove it. Please use care when opening this cover as undue force can damage it. Install a fresh AAA alkaline battery in the battery compartment, being sure to observe the polarity markings. Then carefully replace the battery cover and gently press down on it until it clicks. Momentarily turn on the power to the transmitter by sliding its Power on-off switch in the direction of the arrow; the Power/Battery LED will flash if the battery is sufficiently strong (if it lights steadily, the battery has less than 2 hours of power remaining and should be replaced). Once battery strength is verified, turn the transmitter off again and plug it into your electric guitar or bass. 5. With the Power switch on the AP1 set to the Off position (away from the arrow), gently press down on the AP1 battery compartment latch and swing the battery compartment door open (do not use force when opening or closing the battery door; it is hinged and not meant to be removed). Install a fresh 9-volt battery, then carefully close the battery door. Alternatively, you can 9 Samson AirLine Setting Up and Using Your AirLine System I H S L G N E connect a 12-volt AC adapter (available as an option from your Samson dealer). Turn the AP1 on momentarily to confirm that the battery has been installed correctly (or that the adapter has been connected correctly); the On/Battery Low LED should light green and not red. Then turn the AP1 power off. 6. Make the physical cable connection between the AP1 output jack and an audio input of your amplifier or mixer. Leave your ampli-

fier or mixer off at this time. 7. Turn the Level knob on the AP1 completely counterclockwise, then slide its Power switch in the direction of the arrow to turn it on. The Power On LED will light steadily green. 8. Turn on the power to the transmitter. The TX / Peak LED on the AP1 receiver should now light steadily green, indicating that it is receiving valid RF signal and is placed and positioned correctly. 9. Now its time to set the audio levels. Turn on your amplifier and/or mixer but keep its volume all the way down. Set the output level of your electric guitar or bass to maximum and begin playing it at a normal performance level while observing the AP1 TX/Peak LED. If the LED lights red (indicating a Peak condition) even with the AP1 Level control fully counterclockwise, engage the 15 dB pad on your transmitter by sliding the switch in the direction of the arrow. If not, slowly turn the AP1 Level control clockwise to the point where the TX/Peak LED occasionally blinks red during the very loudest passages, then back it off just slightly; this will ensure maxi-

mum signal to noise ratio. Finally, raise the level of your amplifier and/or mixer until the desired volume is reached. 10. If you hear distortion or the AP1 TX/Peak LED lights red even with the 15 dB pad engaged and the Level control at minimum

(fully counterclockwise), reduce the output level of your instrument until the LED no longer lights. Conversely, if you hear a weak, noisy signal at the desired volume level, make sure that your instrument is set to maximum output level, that the 15 dB pad is not engaged, and that the AP1 Level control is turned up. When using instruments with active or high level pickups, the Level control should normally be set in the marked region. 10 Setting Up and Using Your AirLine System Samson AirLine 11. Temporarily turn down the level of your amplifier or mixer and turn off the power to your transmitter, leaving the AP1 receiver on. Then restore the previously set level of your amplifier or mixer. With the transmitter off, the receiver output should be totally silent; if it is, skip ahead to the next step. If it isnt (that is, if you hear some noise), you may need to adjust the AP1 Squelch control. When the Squelch control is at its minimum setting, the AirLine system always provides maximum range without dropout; however, depending upon the particular environment your system is used in, you may need to reduce that range somewhat in order to eliminate band noise when the AF1 or AG1 transmitter is turned off. To do so, use the provided screwdriver to rotate the Squelch control completely counterclockwise (to the Min position), then slowly turn it clockwise until the noise disappears. If no noise is present at any posi-

tion, leave it at its fully counterclockwise Min position (so as to have the greatest overall range available). 12. When first setting up your AirLine System in a new environment, its always a good idea to do a walkaround in order to make sure that coverage is provided for your entire performance area. Accordingly, turn down the level of your audio system and turn on both the transmitter and receiver. Then restore the level of your audio system and while playing your electric guitar or bass at a normal performance level, walk through the entire area that will need to be covered. As you do so, observe the TX/Peak LED on the AP1 receiver to make sure that it is steadily lit green, indicating that it is receiving sufficiently strong RF signal. Always try to minimize the distance between transmitter and receiver as much as possible so that the strongest possible signal is received from all planned trans-

mission points. In certain environments, it may be desirable to angle the AP1s antennas differently from the vertical position. Vrifiez que le rcepteur AP1 et l'metteur AF1 ou AG1 fournis sont bien rgls sur le mme canal. 2. Placez le rcepteur AP1 l'endroit o il devra tre utilis et redressez ses antennes. 3. Mettez l'metteur AF1 ou AG1 hors tension en rglant l'interrupteur d'alimentation sur Off (pas sur la flche) et installez une pile AAA neuve. Replacez ensuite l'metteur sous tension ; son tmoin lumineux clignote une fois, puis s'teint si la pile est suffisamment puissante. Lorsque la puissance de la pile a t vrifie, mettez l'metteur hors tension et connectez votre guitare ou votre basse. 4. Ouvrez le compartiment pile du rcepteur AP1 et installez une pile neuve ; utilisez si vous le prfrez l'alimentation optionnelle. Placez temporairement l'AP1 sous tension pour vrifier si la pile a t correctement installe (ou si l'adaptateur est correctement connect) ; le tmoin On/Battery Low doit s'allumer en vert et non en rouge. Placez enfin l'AP1 hors tension. 5. Placez votre amplificateur ou la console hors tension puis reliez la sortie du rcepteur AP1 une entre audio. 6. Tournez le potentiomtre de rglage de niveau de l'AP1 compltement gauche, puis placez-le sous tension ; le tmoin Power doit logiquement rester allum en vert. 7. Placez l'metteur AF1 ou AG1 sous tension. Le tmoin TX/Peak du rcepteur AP1 s'allume en vert s'il reoit effectivement le signal HF et s'il est correctement positionn. F R A N A S I 13 Samson AirLine Prise en main 8. Placez l'amplificateur et la console sous tension en veillant garder un rglage de volume au minimum. Rglez le niveau de sortie de l'instrument au maximum et commencez jouer au niveau souhait tout en observant le tmoin TX/Peak de l'AP1. Si ce tmoin s'allume en rouge (indiquant une distorsion) alors que le rglage de niveau du rcepteur AP1 est rgl au minimum, activez l'attnuateur 15 dB de l'metteur. Si ce tmoin n'est pas allum, tournez progressivement le potentiomtre de rglage de niveau jusqu'au point o le tmoin TX/Peak ne clignote que sur les passages les plus forts, puis rduisez trs lgrement le niveau. Augmentez enfin le niveau de l'amplificateur et/ou de la console jusqu' atteindre le niveau recherch. I S A N A R F 9. Parcourez l'ensemble de la zone couvrir et observez le tmoin TX/Peak du rcepteur ; ce tmoin reste constamment allum en vert si la rception est assure sur toutes les parties de la scne. Si le tmoin s'teint, dplacez le rcepteur ou positionnez ses antennes diffremment. 10. Si un bruit de fond est audible en sortie du rcepteur alors que l'metteur est hors tension, utilisez le tournevis en plastique fourni pour modifier le rglage de Squelch de l'AP1 : tournez pour cela la vis lentement vers la droite jusqu' ce que le bruit disparaisse. 14 Visite guide Rcepteur AP1 Samson AirLine 1: Interrupteur Power - Poussez cet interrupteur en direction de la flche pour placer le rcepteur AP1 sous tension ; poussez l'interrupteur l'oppos de la flche pour placer l'appareil hors tension. 2: Tmoin Power On / Battery Low - Ce tmoin s'allume en vert lorsque l'AP1 est sous tension et en rouge pour signaler que la charge de la pile devient insuff-

isante. Afin de prserver l'intgrit et la fidlit du signal (et pour viter que l'AP1 cesse de fonctionner), il est vivement conseill de remplacer la pile usage par une neuve ds que le tmoin passe au rouge. 3: Tmoin TX / Peak - Ce tmoin s'allume en vert ds que l'AP1 reoit un signal HF d'un metteur et s'allume en rouge lorsque le signal de sortie de l'AP1 commence tre crt ( la limite de la distorsion). 1. Pour que votre systme AirLine fonctionne correctement, veillez ce que l'metteur et le rcepteur soient tous deux rgls sur le mme canal. Retirez les deux appareils de leur emballage (conservez ce dernier pour d'ventuelles rparations) et vrifiez que le rcepteur AP1 et que les metteurs AF1 ou AG1 sont bien rgls sur le mme canal (vous trouverez un tableau complet des canaux en page 47 de ce manuel). Si les rglages de canal ne correspondent pas, contactez votre distributeur. 2. Placez le rcepteur AP1 l'endroit o il devra tre install : il est important de conserver un "couloir" dgag entre l'metteur et le rcepteur afin que la personne utilisant ou portant l'metteur puisse voir le rcepteur. Si vous utilisez l'AP1 pour transmettre le signal un ampli de scne, nous vous suggrons de l'installer de prfrence sur l'amplificateur. 3. Redressez les antennes de l'AP1 et orientez-les lgrement vers l'extrieur. 4. Assurez-vous que l'interrupteur Power On-Off de l'metteur AF1 ou AG1 est rgl sur Off et que l'attnuateur 15 dB est galement dsactiv (bouton pouss en sens inverse de la flche). Poussez doucement sur la partie rainures et tirez vers le haut pour retirer le cache de l'AF1 ou de l'AG1. Ne forcez pas l'ouverture de ce cache au risque de l'endommager. Installez la pile alcaline AAA neuve en veillant respecter les signes de polarit. Replacez dlicatement le cache du compartiment de la pile et appuyez lgrement jusqu'au "clic". Placez l'metteur sous tension quelques instants en faisant glisser l'interrupteur vers la flche ; le tmoin Power/Battery clignote si la pile est suffisamment charge (il reste allum si la charge de la pile n'autorise qu'une autonomie infrieure 2 heures et qu'elle doit tre remplace). Une fois la charge de la pile vrifie, placez l'metteur hors tension et connectez-le la guitare ou la basse. 5. Si l'interrupteur Power de l'AP1 est rgl sur Off ( l'oppos de la flche), poussez dlicatement sur le systme de blocage et soulevez le cache du compartiment (ne forcez pas l'ouverture ou la fermeture du cache ; celui-ci est mont sur une charnire et n'est pas cens tre retir). Installez une pile 9 Volts neuve et refermez le cache sans forcer. L'AP1 peut galement tre aliment via un 20 Configuration et utilisation du systme AirLine Samson AirLine adaptateur 12 Volts courant alternatif (disponible chez votre distributeur Samson). Placez quelques instants l'AP1 sous tension pour vous assurer que la pile est correctement installe (ou que l'adaptateur est correctement connect) ; le tmoin On/Battery Low doit rester allum en vert si l'alimentation est correcte. Pour finir, replacez l'AP1 hors tension. 6. Procdez la connexion physique entre le connecteur de sortie de l'AP1 et l'entre audio de votre amplificateur ou de votre console (hors tension la connexion). 7. Tournez le potentiomtre Level de l'AP1 compltement vers la gauche puis faites glisser l'interrupteur Power en direction de la flche pour placer l'appareil sous tension. Le tmoin Power On doit logiquement rester allum en vert. 8. Placez l'metteur sous tension. Le tmoin TX / Peak du rcepteur AP1 doit rester allum en vert pour signaler qu'il reoit un signal HF valide et qu'il est correctement connect. 9. Passons au rglage des niveaux audio. Placez la console de mixage et/ou l'amplificateur sous tension sans pour autant relever le volume. Rglez le niveau de sortie de votre guitare ou de votre basse au maximum et commencez jouer au niveau souhait tout en observant le tmoin TX/Peak de l' AP1. Si ce tmoin s'allume en rouge (indiquant une distorsion) alors que le rglage de niveau du rcepteur AP1 est rgl au minimum, faites glisser le bouton de l'attnuateur 15 dB vers la flche. Si ce tmoin n'est pas allum, tournez progressivement le potentiomtre de rglage de niveau jusqu'au point o le tmoin TX/Peak ne clignote en rouge que sur les passages les plus forts puis rduisez trs lgrement le niveau. Augmentez enfin le niveau de l'amplificateur et/ou de la console jusqu' atteindre le niveau recherch. 10. Si vous entendez une distorsion au volume souhait, ou si le tmoin TX/Peak du rcepteur AP1 reste allum en rouge alors que l'attnuateur 15 dB est activ et que le volume est rgl au minimum (compltement gauche), rduisez le niveau de sortie de l'instrument jusqu' ce que le tmoin s'teigne. l'inverse, si vous obtenez un son faible avec un bruit de fond au niveau souhait, vrifiez que le niveau de sortie de l'instrument est bien rgl au maximum, que l'attnuateur 15 dB n'est pas activ et que le rglage F R A N A S I 21 Samson AirLine Configuration et utilisation du systme AirLine de volume de l'AP1 est suffisamment lev. La commande Level doit logiquement tre positionne face la marque lorsque vous travaillez avec des instruments quips de micros actifs ou niveau lev. 11. Baissez temporairement le niveau de l'amplificateur ou de la console, placez l'metteur hors tension mais laissez le rcepteur AP1 sous tension. Revenez ensuite sur le niveau pralablement dfini sur l'amplificateur ou sur la console. Une fois l'metteur hors tension, la sortie du rcepteur doit tre parfaitement silencieuse (aucun signal transmis) ; si aucun signal n'est audible, passez l'tape suivante. Si un signal est effectivement audible, un rglage du Squelch de l'AP1 s'impose. Lorsque le Squelch est rgl au minimum, le systme AirLine offre une porte maximale, sans perte de signal ; cependant, il peut tre prfrable dans certaines situations de rduire lgrement cette porte afin d'liminer le bruit de fond prsent lorsque l'metteur AF1 ou AG1 est teint. Aidez-vous pour ce rglage du tournevis fourni : rglez dans un premier temps le Squelch au minimum (compltement gauche), puis tournez douce-

ment vers la droite jusqu' ce que le bruit disparaisse. Si aucun bruit de fond n'est perceptible quel que soit le rglage, laissez-le en position Min, compltement tourn vers la gauche. Vous bnficiez alors de la porte maximale. 12. Lorsque vous installez le systme AirLine dans un nouvel environnement, assurez-vous que la scne est couverte dans sa totalit. Pour ce faire, baissez le volume de votre systme audio, puis placez l'metteur et le rcepteur sous tension. Ramenez ensuite le volume du systme audio au niveau souhait et dplacez-vous sur toute la zone couvrir. Observez alors le tmoin TX/Peak du rcepteur AP1 ; ce tmoin reste constamment allum en vert s'il reoit un signal HF suffisamment puissant. Dans la mesure du possible, rduisez au minimum la distance sparant l'metteur du rcepteur afin que ce dernier reoive un singal puissant depuis tous les points de transmission. Dans certains environnements, il peut s'avrer ncessaire d'orienter les antennes de l'AP1 diffremment. Stellen Sie sicher, dass der mitgelieferte AP1 Empfnger und AF1 oder AG1 Sender werkseitig auf den gleichen Kanal voreingestellt sind. 2. Stellen Sie den AP1 Empfnger an seinem Einsatzort auf, ziehen Sie seine Antennen nach oben heraus und biegen Sie sie nach auen. E H C S T U E D 3. Stellen Sie den Netzschalter Ihres AF1 oder AG1 Senders auf Off (gegen die Richtung des Pfeils) und setzen Sie eine neue Mikrozelle-Batterie ein. Schalten Sie dann den Sender kurz ein. Wenn die Batterie stark genug ist, wird seine LED einmal blinken und dann erlschen. Nachdem Sie die Batteriestrke berprft haben, schalten Sie den Sender wieder aus und stecken Sie ihn in Ihre E-Gitarre oder Ihren E-Bass. 4. ffnen Sie das Batteriefach des AP1, indem Sie auf die Verriegelung drcken, und setzen Sie eine neue Batterie ein. Sie knnen bei Bedarf auch ein optionales Netzteil verwenden. Schalten Sie den AP1 kurz ein, um sicherzustellen, dass die Batterie richtig eingebaut wurde (oder dass der Adapter richtig angeschlossen wurde). Die On/Battery Low LED sollte grn (nicht rot) leuchten. Schalten Sie dann den AP1 aus. 5. Schalten Sie Ihren Verstrker oder Mischer aus und stellen Sie eine Kabelverbindung zwischen einem Audioeingang und der AP1 Ausgangsbuchse her. 24 Schneller Einstieg Samson AirLine 6. Drehen Sie den Level-Regler des AP1 ganz nach links und schalten Sie dann den AP1 ein. Die Power LED leuchtet jetzt konstant grn. 7. Schalten Sie Ihren AF1 oder AG1 Sender ein. Die TX/Peak LED des AP1 Empfngers sollte konstant grn leuchten und damit anzeigen, dass er gltige Radiofrequenz-Signale (RF) empfngt und richtig platziert ist. 8. Schalten Sie den angeschlossenen Verstrker oder Mischer ein, aber lassen Sie seinen Pegel ganz zurckgedreht. Stellen Sie den Ausgangspegel Ihres Instruments auf Maximum und spielen Sie mit normalem Performance-Pegel, whrend Sie die AP1 TX/Peak LED beobachten. Wenn die LED auch bei vllig zurckgedrehtem AP1 Level-Regler rot leuchtet (bersteuerungen), sollten Sie die 15 dB Dmpfung am Sender einschalten. Andernfalls knnen Sie den Pegelregler langsam nach rechts bis zu der Position drehen, an der die TX/Peak LED bei den lautesten Passagen gelegentlich rot blinkt. Drehen Sie dann den Regler etwas zurck. Heben Sie dann den Pegel Ihres angeschlossenen Verstrkers und/oder Mischers so weit an, bis die gewnschte Lautstrke erreicht ist. 9. Gehen Sie in dem voraussichtlichen Sendebereich umher und beobachten Sie die TX/Peak LED des Empfngers. Sie sollte stndig grn leuchten und dadurch einen guten RF-Empfang im gesamten Sendebereich anzeigen. Andernfalls mssen Sie den AP1 oder seine Antennen neu positionieren. 10. Wenn Sie bei ausgeschaltetem Sender Strgerusche ber den Empfngerausgang hren, stellen Sie mit dem mitgelieferten Plastikschraubenzieher den AP1 Squelch-Regler ein, indem Sie ihn langsam nach rechts bis zu dem Punkt drehen, an dem die Strgerusche verschwinden. Um die Klangtreue nicht zu beeintrchtigen (oder den AP1 vllig ausfallen zu lassen), sollten Sie die Batterie immer sofort durch eine neue ersetzen, wenn diese LED rot leuchtet. 3: Empfang/bersteuerung LED Diese LED leuchtet grn, wenn der AP1 ein Radiofrequenzsignal von einem Sender empfngt, und rot, wenn das Ausgangssignal des AP1 sich kurz vor der Clippinggrenze befindet (d. h. an der Verzerrungsgrenze). Wenn Sie diese LED whrend des Gertebetriebs sehen, sollten Sie den Signalpegel an Ihrem Instrument zurckdrehen oder die 15 dB Dmpfung des Senders einschalten. Wegen nherer Einzelheiten siehe Abschnitt AirLine System einrichten und einsetzen auf Seite 31 in diesem Handbuch. 4: Pegelregler Mit diesem Regler stellen Sie den Pegel des Audiosignals ein, das ber die AP1 Ausgangsbuchse ausgegeben wird

(siehe Nr. 9 auf Seite 6). Wenn Sie eine E-Gitarre oder einen E-Bass mit einem aktiven oder hochpegeligen Tonabnehmer verwenden, stellen Sie den Regler im markierten Bereich ein. Wegen nherer Einzelheiten siehe Abschnitt AirLine System einrichten und einsetzen auf Seite 31 in diesem Handbuch. 26 bersicht - Empfnger AP1 Samson AirLine 5: Antennen Da die beiden AP1 Antennen auf einem Schwenkgelenk montiert sind, knnen sie in alle Richtungen gedreht und somit optimal positioniert werden. Bei normalem Betrieb sollten beide Antennen vertikal aufgerichtet und leicht nach auen gerichtet sein. Zum Transport des AP1 knnen die Antennen nach innen geklappt werden. H I L E V E L P IC KUPS 6: Batteriefach-Riegel Ein leichter Druck auf diesen Riegel gengt, um das AP1 Batteriefach zu ffnen (siehe Nr. 7 unten). LEVEL 7: Batteriefach Setzen Sie hier eine normale 9-Volt (alkalische) Batterie ein und achten Sie hierbei auf die Plus/Minus-Markierungen. Wir empfehlen Batterien des Typs Duracell MN 1604. Man kann auch wiederaufladbare Nickel-Kadmium Batterien verwenden, wobei diese allerdings nur vier Stunden lang ausreichend Spannung liefern. ACHTUNG: Setzen Sie die Batterien nicht verkehrt herum ein. Dies kann den AP1 ernsthaft beschdigen und fhrt zum Verlust Ihres Garantieanspruchs. Dies kann den AP1/AG1 ernsthaft beschdigen und fhrt zum Verlust Ihres Garantieanspruchs. 30 AirLine System einrichten und einsetzen Samson AirLine Das grundlegende Verfahren zum Einrichten und Einsetzen Ihres AirLine Systems dauert nur wenige Minuten:

1. Damit Ihr AirLine System richtig funktioniert, mssen Empfnger und Sender auf den gleichen Kanal eingestellt sein. Entfernen Sie das gesamte Verpackungsmaterial (heben Sie es fr zuknftige Wartungsarbeiten auf) und prfen Sie, ob der mitgelieferte AP1 Empfnger und AF1 oder AG1 Sender auf den gleichen Kanal eingestellt sind (ein vollstndiger Kanalplan ist auf Seite 47 dieses Handbuchs abgedruckt). Wenn die Kanle nicht bereinstimmen, setzen Sie sich mit Ihrem Vertrieb oder - bei Kauf in den USA mit Samson Technical Support unter 1-800-372-6766 in Verbindung. 2. Stellen Sie den AP1 Empfnger dort auf, wo er benutzt wird. Faustregel: Halten Sie Sichtkontakt zwischen Empfnger und Sender, so dass Sie immer den Empfnger sehen knnen, whrend Sie den Sender benutzen. Wenn Sie Signale ber den AP1 in einen Bhnenverstrker einspeisen, sollten Sie den Empfnger auf den Verstrker stellen. 3. Ziehen Sie die AP1 Antennen heraus, stellen Sie sie senkrecht und neigen Sie sie etwas nach auen, um die bestmgliche Reichweite zu erzielen. 4. Stellen Sie sicher, dass der Power On-Off Schalter in Ihrem AF1 oder AG1 Sender auf Off eingestellt ist und dass die 15 dB Dmpfung ebenfalls auf Off steht (Schalter gegen die Richtung des Pfeils). Schieben Sie die Abdeckung des AF1 oder AG1 an der Rippung zurck und heben Sie sie zum Entfernen nach oben. Gehen Sie beim ffnen der Abdeckung bitte vorsichtig vor, da zuviel Kraftaufwand zu Beschdigungen fhren kann. Setzen Sie eine neue (alkalische) Mikrozelle ins Batteriefach ein und achten Sie hierbei auf die Polarittsmarkierungen. Setzen Sie die Batterieabdeckung dann wieder ein und drcken Sie sie vorsichtig fest, bis sie mit einem Klicken einrastet. Schalten Sie den Sender kurz ein, indem Sie den Netz Ein/Aus-Schalter in die Richtung des Pfeils schieben. Wenn die Batterie stark genug ist, blinkt die Power/Battery LED (wenn die LED konstant leuchtet, reicht die Batteriespannung nur noch fr weniger als zwei Stunden und sollte ersetzt werden). Nachdem Sie die Qualitt der Batterie berprft haben, schalten Sie den Sender wieder aus und stecken Sie ihn in Ihre E-Gitarre bzw. Ihren E-Bass. D E U T S C H E 5. Stellen Sie den Netzschalter des AP1 auf Off (entgegen der Richtung des Pfeils), drcken Sie leicht auf den Riegel des AP1 Batteriefachs und ffnen Sie die Klappe des Batteriefachs (wenden Sie beim ffnen oder Schlieen der Klappe nicht zu viel Kraft an die Klappe hat ein Scharnier und sollte nicht komplett abgenommen werden). Setzen Sie eine neue 9-Volt Batterie ein und schlieen 31 Samson AirLine AirLine System einrichten und einsetzen Sie dann vorsichtig die Klappe. Sie knnen auch einen 12-Volt Wechselstromadapter anschlieen (als Sonderzubehr bei Ihrem Samson-Hndler erhltlich). Schalten Sie den AP1 kurz ein, um sicherzustellen, dass die Batterie korrekt eingesetzt wurde (oder dass der Adapter korrekt angeschlossen wurde). Die Ein/leere Batterie LED sollte grn (nicht rot) leuchten. Schalten Sie den AP1 dann aus. 6. Stellen Sie eine Kabelverbindung zwischen der Ausgangsbuchse des AP1 und einem Audioeingang Ihres Verstrkers oder Mischers her. Lassen hierbei Ihren Verstrker oder Mischer ausgeschaltet. 7. Drehen Sie den Pegelregler Ihres AP1 ganz nach links und schieben Sie den Netzschalter dann in Richtung des Pfeils, um den AP1 einzuschalten. Die Netz LED leuchtet konstant grn. 8. Schalten Sie den Sender ein. Die TX / Peak LED des AP1 Empfngers sollte jetzt konstant grn leuchten und dadurch anzeigen, dass er ein nutzbares RF-Signal empfngt und er korrekt ausgerichtet ist. E H C S T U E D 9. Jetzt sollten Sie die Audiopegel einstellen. Schalten Sie Ihren Verstrker und/oder Mischer ein, aber lassen Sie den Pegel ganz zurckgedreht. Stellen Sie den Ausgangspegel Ihrer E-Gitarre bzw. Ihres E-Basses auf das Maximum und spielen Sie mit dem gewohnten Performance-Pegel. Beobachten Sie hierbei die TX/Peak LED des AP1. Wenn die LED auch bei ganz nach links gedrehtem AP1 Pegelregler rot leuchtet (und somit bersteuerungen anzeigt), schalten Sie die 15 dB Dmpfung Ihres Senders ein, indem Sie den Schalter in die Richtung des Pfeils schieben. Andernfalls drehen Sie den AP1 Pegelregler langsam nach rechts bis zu dem Punkt, an dem die TX/Peak LED bei den lautesten Passagen gelegentlich rot blinkt. Drehen Sie den Regler dann etwas zurck. Damit haben Sie den maximalen Geruschspannungsabstand eingestellt. Drehen Sie schlielich den Pegel Ihres Verstrkers und/oder Mischers auf, bis die gewnschte Lautstrke erreicht ist. 10. Wenn Sie Verzerrungen hren oder die TX/Peak LED des AP1 rot leuchtet, obwohl die 15 dB Dmpfung aktiviert und der Pegelregler auf Minimum eingestellt ist (ganz nach links), verringern Sie den Ausgangspegel Ihres Instruments, bis die LED nicht mehr leuchtet. Wenn Sie andererseits ein schwaches, verrauschtes Signal bei dem gewnschten Lautstrkepegel hren, sollten Sie sicher-

stellen, dass Ihr Instrument auf maximalen Ausgangspegel eingestellt ist, dass die 15 dB Dmpfung nicht aktiviert ist und dass der AP1 Pegelregler aufgedreht ist. Wenn Sie Instrumente mit aktiven oder hochpegeligen Tonabnehmern verwenden, sollten Sie den Pegelregler normalerweise auf den markierten Bereich einstellen. 32 AirLine System einrichten und einsetzen Samson AirLine 11. Drehen Sie den Pegel Ihres Verstrkers oder Mischers vorbergehend zurck und schalten Sie Ihren Sender aus. Lassen Sie den AP1 Empfnger eingeschaltet. Stellen Sie dann den zuvor eingestellten Pegel Ihres Verstrkers oder Mischer wieder her. Bei ausgeschal-

tetem Sender sollte der Ausgang des Empfngers vllig stumm sein. In diesem Fall knnen Sie mit dem nchsten Schritt fortfahren. Andernfalls (wenn Sie also Rauschen hren) mssen Sie mglicherweise den Squelch-Regler des AP1 einstellen. Wenn der Squelch-

Regler auf Minimum steht, liefert das AirLine System immer den maximalen Dynamikbereich ohne Ausflle. Abhngig von der speziellen Umgebung, in der Ihr System betrieben wird, mssen Sie diesen Bereich aber vielleicht etwas verringern, um das Rauschband zu eliminieren, wenn der AF1 oder AG1 Sender ausgeschaltet ist. Drehen Sie hierzu den Squelch-Regler mit dem beiliegenden Schraubenzieher ganz nach links (auf die Min Position) und drehen Sie ihn dann langsam nach rechts, bis das Rauschen verschwindet. Wenn bei keiner Position Rauschen auftritt, lassen Sie den Regler auf seiner ganz nach links gedrehten Min Position stehen (um den grtmglichen Dynamikbereich zu erhalten). 12. Wenn Sie Ihr AirLine System in einer neuen Umgebung aufbauen, sollten Sie immer im Performance-Bereich umherlaufen, um sicherzustellen, dass sich die Reichweite der bertragung ber den gesamten Bereich erstreckt. Drehen Sie also den Pegel Ihres Audiosystems zurck und schalten Sie den Sender und Empfnger ein. Stellen Sie dann den Pegel Ihres Audiosystems wieder her, spie-

len Sie auf Ihrer E-Gitarre bzw. Ihrem E-Bass mit normalem Performance-Pegel und laufen Sie in dem gesamten Bereich umher, ber den sich die Reichweite erstrecken soll. Beobachten Sie hierbei die TX/Peak LED des AP1 Empfngers, um sicherzustellen, dass sie konstant grn leuchtet und damit anzeigt, dass ein ausreichend starkes RF-Signal empfangen wird. Versuchen Sie immer, die Entfernung zwischen Sender und Empfnger so klein wie mglich zu halten, damit das strkstmgliche Signal von allen geplanten bertragungspunkten empfangen wird. In bestimmten Umgebungen mssen Sie die Antennen des AP1 vielleicht nicht vertikal, son-

dern in einem anderen Winkel ausrichten. Asegrese que el receptor AP1 incluido y el transmisor AF1 o AG1 estn ajustados de fbrica al mismo canal. 2. Site fsicamente el receptor AP1 en el lugar que lo vaya a usar y extienda verticalmente sus antenas y seprelas. 3. Coloque el interruptor de encendido del transmisor AF1 o AG1 en la posicin off (lejos de la flecha) e introduzca una pila AAA nueva en l. Despus encienda momentneamente el transmisor; su piloto parpadear una vez y despus se apagar si la pila tiene suficiente carga. Una vez que haya verificado la carga de la pila, vuelva a apagar el transmisor y despus conctelo en su guitarra o bajo elctrico. 4. Abra el compartimento de la pila del AP1 pulsando sobre la muesca y coloque una pila nueva; si lo prefiere, puede usar una fuente de alimentacin opcional. Encienda momentneamente el AP1 para confirmar que ha colocado la pila correctamente (o que ha conectado correctamente el adaptador); el piloto On/Battery Low debera iluminarse en verde y no en rojo. Encienda su transmisor AF1 o AG1. El piloto TX/Peak en el receptor AP1 debera iluminarse en verde para indicar que est recibiendo una seal RF vlida y que est colocado y situado correctamente. 8. Encienda el amplificador o mezclador al que tenga conectado el receptor pero mantenga su volumen totalmente abajo. Ajuste el nivel de salida de su instrumento al mximo y comience a tocar a un nivel de ejecucin normal mientras observa el piloto TX/Peak del AP1. Si el piloto se enciende en rojo (indicando una condicin de pico) incluso con el control de nivel del AP1 totalmente a la izquierda, active el parche de 15 dB del transmisor. Si no es as, gire lentamente el control de nivel hacia la derecha hasta el punto en el que el piloto TX/Peak parpadee ocasionalmente en rojo durante los pasajes ms fuertes, y despus bjelo solo un poco. Finalmente, suba el nivel del amplificador y/o mezclador al que est conectado hasta que consiga el volumen que quiera. 9. biendo una seal RF desde un transmisor y se ilumina en rojo cuando la seal de salida desde el AP1 est llegando a la saturacin (es decir, cuando est a punto de distorsionar). Si observa este piloto en rojo durante el funcionamiento normal, disminuya el nivel de volumen de su instrumento o active el parche de 15 dB del transmisor. En condiciones normales de funcionamiento, ambas antenas deberan ser colocadas en posicin vertical y separadas ligeramente hacia fuera. Para mayor comodidad durante el transporte, puede plegarlas dentro de s mismas. Para una mayor informacin acerca de la colocacin de las antenas, vea la seccin titulada Ajuste y uso de su sistema AirLine en la pgina 42 de este manual. 6: Muesca del compartimento de pila Pulse ligeramente sobre esta muesca para abrir el compartimento de la pila del AP1 (vea el punto 7 siguiente). 7: Compartimento de la pila Introduzca una pila alcalina de 9 voltios standard, asegurndose de colocar correctamente las marcas de polaridad ms y menos. PRECAUCION: Nunca coloque la pila al revs; el hacerlo podra produ cir daos graves en el AP1 y anulara la garanta. 41 N O S M A S AF1 15dB PAD PO WER 6 7 E S P A O L Samson AirLine Ajuste y uso de su sistema AirLine El procedimiento bsico de ajuste y uso de su sistema AirLine solo le llevar unos pocos minutos:

1. Para que su sistema AirLine funcione correctamente, tanto el receptor como el transmisor debern estar ajustados al mismo canal. Quite todos los embalajes (gurdelos por si los necesitase en el futuro) y compruebe que tanto el receptor AP1 como el transmisor AF1 o AG1 estn ajustados al mismo canal (en la pgina 47 de este manual puede ver un plano completo de los canales). Si estos canales no coinciden, contacte con su distribuidor o, si adquiri el aparato en los Estados Unidos, con el departamento de soporte tcnico de Samson en el telfono 1-800-372-6766. 2. Coloque fsicamente el receptor AP1 en el lugar en el que lo vaya a usar. La regla de oro principal es mantener siempre la lnea de visin entre el receptor y el transmisor de tal forma que la persona que est usando o que lleve el transmisor pueda ver siempre el receptor. Si est usando el AP1 para dar seal a un amplificador de escenario, una buena sugerencia sera que lo colocase justo encima de l. 3. Extienda las antenas del AP1 y colquelas en vertical, separndolas un poco hacia fuera para tener la mxima cobertura posible. 4. Asegrese de que el interruptor de encendido on-off de su transmisor AF1 o AG1 est ajustado a "Off" y que el parche de 15 dB tambin est desconectado (en sentido opuesto a la flecha). Tire hacia atrs suavemente en la muesca de la tapa de la pila del AF1 o AG1 y despus hacia fuera para sacarla. Tenga cuidado al abrir esta tapa dado que si usa demasiada fuerza puede daarla. Introduzca una pila alcalina AAA nueva en el compartimento de la pila, asegurndose de respetar las marcas de polaridad. Despus vuelva a colocar con cuidado la tapa de la pila y empjela suavemente hasta que haga un clic. Momentneamente encienda el transmisor deslizando su interruptor Power on-off en la direccin de la flecha; el piloto Power/Battery parpadear si la pila tiene suficiente carga (si se queda iluminado fijo es que a la pila le quedan menos de dos horas de carga y que debera cambiarla). Una vez que haya verificado la carga de la pila, apague de nuevo el transmisor y conctelo a su guitarra o bajo elctrico. 5. Con el interruptor de encendido del AP1 colocado en la posicin Off (lejos de la flecha), empuje suavemente sobre la muesca L O A P S E 42 Ajuste y uso de su sistema AirLine Samson AirLine del compartimento de la pila del AP1 y abra la tapa del mismo (no use demasiada fuerza cuando abra o cierre la tapa de la pila; tiene un gozne de cierre y no debe ser separada de la carcasa). Introduzca una pila alcalina de 9 voltios nueva y despus cierre con cuidado la tapa del compartimento de la pila. De forma alternativa, tambin puede conectar un adaptador de corriente AC de 12 voltios (disponible de forma opcional en su distribuidor Samson). Encienda momentneamente el AP1 para confirmar que ha colocado correctamente la pila (o que ha conectado de forma adecuada el adaptador); el piloto On/Battery Low se debera iluminar en verde y no en rojo. Si es as, vuelva a apagar el AP1. 6. Realice la conexin fsica del cable entre el conector de salida del AP1 y una entrada audio de su amplificador o mezclador. Deje su amplificador o mesa de mezclas apagados por el momento. 7. Gire el mando de nivel del AP1 completamente a la izquierda y despus mueva su interruptor de encendido en la direccin de la flecha para encenderlo. El piloto Power On se quedar iluminado en verde. 8. Encienda el transmisor. El piloto TX / Peak del receptor AP1 debera iluminarse ahora en verde, indicando que est recibiendo una seal RF vlida y que est colocado y situado correctamente. 9. Ahora ha llegado el momento de ajustar los niveles audio. Encienda el amplificador y/o mezclador pero deje su volumen completamente abajo. Ajuste el nivel de salida de su guitarra elctrica o bajo al mximo y comience a tocar a un nivel de ejecucin normal mientras va observando el piloto TX/Peak del AP1. Si el piloto se ilumina en rojo (indicando una condicin de pico) incluso con el control de nivel del AP1 completamente a la izquierda, active el parche de 15 dB en su transmisor deslizando ese interruptor en la direccin de la flecha. Si no ocurre as, gire lentamente el control de nivel del AP1 hacia la derecha hasta el punto en el que el piloto TX/Peak solo se ilumine ocasionalmente en rojo durante los pasajes ms fuertes, y despus disminuya de nuevo ligeramente el nivel, asegurndose as la mejor relacin seal-ruido. Finalmente, aumente el nivel de su amplificador y/o mezclador hasta que consi-

Si escucha cualquier distorsin o si el piloto TX/Peak del AP1 se ilumina en rojo incluso con el parche de 15 dB activado y el control de nivel al mnimo (completamente a la izquierda), reduzca el nivel de salida de su instrumento hasta que el piloto ya no se ilumine. De forma opuesta, si escucha una seal pobre y con ruidos al nivel de volumen deseado, asegrese de que su instrumento est ajustado al mximo nivel de salida, que el parche de 15 dB no est activado y que el control de nivel del AP1 est arriba. Cuando est usando instrumentos con pastillas activas o de alto nivel, debera colocar normalmente el control de nivel en la regin marcada. 11. Disminuya temporalmente el nivel de su mezclador o amplificador y apague su transmisor, dejando el receptor AP1 encendido. Restaure entonces el nivel ajustado anteriormente en su amplificador o mezclador. Con el transmisor apagado, la salida del receptor debera ser totalmente silenciosa; si es as, pase al siguiente paso. Si esto no se produce (es decir, si escucha algn tipo de ruido), puede que tenga que ajustar el control Squelch del AP1. Cuando el control Squelch est en su valor mnimo, el sistema AirLine siempre suministra el rango mximo sin desbordamientos; no obstante, dependiendo del entorno concreto en que utilice su sistema, puede que tenga que reducir algo el rango de cara a eliminar el ruido de banda que se produce cuando el transmisor AF1 o AG1 estn apagados. Para hacer esto, use el destornillador que se incluye para girar el control Squelch completamente a la izquierda (a la posicin Min) y despus grelo lentamente a la derecha hasta que el ruido desaparezca. Si no escucha ningn ruido en ningu-

na de las posiciones, deje este control en la posicin de ms a la izquierda Min (para tener el mximo rango global posible). 12. Cuando utilice por primera vez su sistema AirLine en un nuevo entorno, siempre resulta una buena idea dar una vuelta para asegurarse que el sistema le ofrece cobertura en toda la zona de la actuacin. De acuerdo a esto, disminuya el nivel de su sistema audio y encienda tanto el transmisor como el receptor. Despus vuelva a ajustar el nivel de su sistema audio al mismo valor anterior y mientras toca en su guitarra o bajo elctrico a un nivel normal de ejecucin, vaya dando una vuelta por toda la zona que quiera cubrir. Mientras va haciendo esto, observe el piloto TX/Peak en el receptor AP1 y asegrese que se ilumina en verde, indicando que est recibiendo una seal RF suficientemente fuerte. Trate siempre de reducir al mnimo la distancia entre el transmisor y el receptor para conseguir la seal ms fuerte posible desde todos los puntos de transmisin posibles. In normal operation, both Antenna A (the antenna on the left) and Antenna B (the antenna on the right) should be placed in a vertical position. Both antennas can be folded inward for convenience when transporting the UR1. See the Setting Up and Using the AirLine System section on page 16 in this manual for information about antenna installation and positioning. 1 3 4 5 4 1 6 SAMSON UHF RECEIVER 2 7 8 2: AF (Audio Frequency) Level control - This knob sets the level of the audio signal being output through both the balanced and unbalanced output jacks on the rear panel (see #2 and #4 on page 8 in this manual). Reference level is obtained when the knob is turned fully clockwise (to its 10 setting). 3: Peak LED - This LED lights yellow when output signal from the UR1 is at the onset of clipping (that is, when it is on the verge of being distorted). If you see this light during operation, move the microphone further away or lower the output level of your instrument or transmitter. For more information, see the section entitled Setting Up and Using the AirLine System on page 16 in this manual. 45 Samson AirLine Guided Tour - UR1 Receiver / Front Panel 4: A/B Receiver LEDs - When signal is being received, one of these will be lit green, showing you whether the (left) A or (right) B receiver is currently being used. The UR1 constantly scans its two antennas and automatically selects whichever is receiving the strongest, clearest signal. This True Diversity switching is completely inaudible, but it effectively increases overall range while virtually eliminating potential interference and phase cancellation problems. 5: RF (Radio Frequency) Level meter - This five-segment meter (similar to the VU bar meter used on audio devices) indicates the strength of the UHF signal being received. When all segments are lit, the incoming RF signal is at optimum strength; when only the left-most segment is lit, the incoming RF signal is at minimum strength. If no segments are lit, no signal is being received; check to ensure that the transmitter is on and that it is set to the same channel as the UR1. See the Setting Up and Using the AirLine System section on page 16 in this manual for more information. 6: Power LED - This lights red whenever the UR1 is turned on. 7: Mute (squelch) control - This control determines the maximum range of the UR1 before audio signal dropout. Although it can be adjusted using the supplied plastic screwdriver, it should normally be left at its factory setting. See the Setting Up and Using the AirLine System section on page 16 in this manual for more information. 8: Power switch - Use this to turn the UR1 power on and off. When the receiver is on, the Power LED (see #6 above) is lit. 46 Guided Tour - UR1 Receiver / Rear Panel Samson AirLine 1: DC input - Connect the supplied 12 volt 160 mA power adapter here, using the strain relief as shown in the illustration below.
