Operating system and software support If you change the products factory OS (Operating System) to another OS or if you install software which is not supported by the products original factory OS, you will not receive any technical support, product exchange or refund, and a fee will be charged when requesting a service. Please use your computer with the original factory OS. If you install an OS other than the factory OS, data may be deleted or the computer may not start.

Product capacity representation Storage capacity representation The capacity of the storage device (HDD, SSD) of the manufacturer is calculated assuming that 1 KB = 1,000 Bytes. However, the operating system (Windows) calculates the storage device capacity assuming that 1 KB = 1,024 Bytes. Therefore, the available capacity of the HDD in Windows is smaller than the actual capacity due to the difference in capacity calculation. For example, for an 80 GB HDD, Windows calculates the capacity as 74.5 GB, (80x1,000x1,000x1,000) Bytes/(1,024x1,024x1,024) Bytes

= 74.505 GB. In addition, the capacity representation in Windows may be even smaller because some programs, such as Samsung Recovery, may reside in a hidden area of the HDD. Memory capacity representation The available memory capacity in Windows is less than the actual capacity of memory. This is because some memory is required for regular system operations. For example, for 1 GB (= 1,024 MB) memory installed, Windows may report the capacity as 1,022 MB or less. 6 Getting started Layout Features or options may differ depending on the model. The items marked as optional may not be provided or may be provided in different locations. (Only for touch screen models). Shows the operating status of the computer. Enter text or control computer functions. 9 Getting started Operating status LED and Illumination sensor Number/Name Operating status LED Illumination sensor Description Shows the operating status of the computer. Red: Charging Green: Fully charged Blue: Turned on The sensor detects the ambient light. If the ambient light level becomes too low, the computers backlight will automatically turn on. If there is sufficient ambient lighting, the computers backlight will automatically turn off. Connect and charge a USB-C and Thunderbolt 3 device, or connect to an external display device. Some features may not be supported depending on your devices specifications. Operate the computer by performing touch actions on the screen. Thunderbolt 3 port S Pen 11 Getting started Left view 1 2 3 4 Number/Name Earpiece/Headset jack Description Connect an earpiece or a headset to the computer to listen to audio. This port allows the USB PD AC adapter to be used to supply power to the computer. It can also be used to charge USB-C devices or to connect external display devices. Memory card tray Insert a memory card. Speaker Sound is emitted from the speakers. USB-C port 12 The charging feature of the USB-C port or Thunderbolt 3 port Charging the computer Connect an external power supply (sold separately) to the USB-C port or Thunderbolt 3 port to use it as the auxiliary power or charge the computer. Use an external power supply (sold separately) with a rating level higher than 10 W (5 V, 2 A) that supports USB-C or USB BC 1.2. Charging a USB-C device or Thunderbolt 3 device Connect and charge your USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 device by connecting it to the computer. It may take longer to charge the battery when charging a connected device. The battery power level may be reduced when charging a connected device while the computer is powered by the battery. The charging status of the connected device is not displayed on the computer. This charging feature may not be available on some devices. Getting started Bottom view 1 2 Number/Name Fan vents Internal battery Description Sucks in outside air and discharges heat generated inside the computer through these holes. If the vents are blocked the computer may overheat. Avoid blocking the vents as this may be dangerous. Provides power to the computer when not connected to an AC adapter. To remove or replace the internal battery, take it to a Samsung Service Center. You will be charged for this service. If the case on the bottom of the device is replaced, the laser-carved model name, serial number, and various logos will not be displayed anymore. For more information, contact a Samsung Service Center. 13 Getting started Turning the computer on and off 3 The computer turns on automatically when the LCD panel is opened. Fully charge the battery using the AC adapter before using the computer for the first time. If the computer does not turn on automatically, press the Power button. Turning the computer on 1 Before turning on the computer, check that the battery is charged and charge it if necessary. 2 Open the LCD panel. Set the device not to automatically turn on the computer when the LCD panel is opened. 1. Select the Start button (

Select System Auto booting Off. 14 Getting started About Windows Activation Turning the computer off When you turn the computer on for the first time, the Windows activation screen appears. Follow the activation procedures according to the instructions on the screen to use the computer. The computers date and time may be incorrect when you turn it on for the first time. They may also be incorrect if the battery has been fully discharged or removed. To set the date and time, go to the desktop taskbar and right-click the date and clock area. Then, select Adjust date/time and set the current date and time. 1 Select the Start button (

Since the procedures to turn the computer off may differ depending on the installed operating system, turn the computer off according to the procedures for the purchased operating system. 15 Getting started Unlocking the screen To unlock the lock screen, do one of the following:

Touch screen: Swipe upwards from the bottom of the screen. Mouse: Click the lock screen. Keyboard: Press any key. Touchpad: Tap the touchpad. If the account has a password, enter the password to log in after unlocking the screen. Windows Microsoft Windows is an operating system that is used to control a computer. Images and available features may differ depending on the model and operating system. This manual is designed for Windows 10 and content may differ depending on the OS version. The image displayed on the desktop screen may differ between models and OS versions. 16 Getting started Configuring the Windows Settings You can configure the basic system settings, such as installing or uninstalling apps and managing accounts, on the Windows Settings screen. Select the Start button (

. Then, select an option you want to change after the Windows Settings screen appears. You can also configure the settings from the Control Panel like previous OS versions. Select the Start button (

) Action Center The Windows 10 action center allows you to receive system notifications, such as updates, and push notifications, such as emails and SNS updates. You can also adjust settings conveniently. For example, you can select wireless network options or adjust the volume and screen brightness via hot keys in the action center. Basics Using the computer as a tablet You can use the computer as a tablet by folding the LCD panel behind the keyboard. 1 Open the LCD panel and rotate it away from the keyboard until it touches the bottom side of the computer. When the LCD panel is tilted past the transition point The keyboard and touchpad will automatically be locked and will not function. But, during processes that start before Windows operation, such as the BIOS setup or DOS, the keyboard and touchpad will not be locked. The display will rotate automatically depending on the computers orientation. When storing the computer in a bag or carrying it, close the LCD panel to protect the computer. 18 Basics 2 A mode switch confirmation message will appear when the LCD panel is tilted past the transition point. Select Yes to switch the computers display to tablet mode. The display will switch to tablet mode. When you rotate the LCD panel back to the normal position, a mode switch confirmation message will appear. Select Yes to switch the computers display to desktop mode. When the screen is turned off while using the computer as a tablet, touch the screen to unlock it. When the computer is in sleep mode, press the Power button to unlock the screen. You can also switch the computers display to tablet mode without rotating the LCD panel. on the taskbar. 1 Select 2 When the action center panel appears, select Tablet mode. 19 Basics S Pen Using the S Pen S Pen button S Pen nib Name S Pen nib S Pen button Tweezers Functions Use the S Pen to write, draw, or perform touch actions on the screen. Hover the S Pen over items on the screen to access additional S Pen features, such as the Air view feature. Hover the S Pen over the screen and press the S Pen button to display the Air command features. Remove the S Pen nib with the tweezers when replacing the nib. Tweezers The FCC ID of the S Pen is stated below. FCC ID: A3LEJPN970 20 Basics Taking out the S Pen Press the end of the S Pen until it clicks to disengage it. Then, pull the S Pen from the slot. To store the S Pen, reinsert it into the slot and push slightly until it clicks into place. Replacing the S Pen nib If the nib is dull, replace it with a new one. 1 Firmly hold the nib with the tweezers and remove it. 1 2 21 Basics 2 Insert a new nib into the S Pen. If you use the S Pen at sharp angles on the screen, the device may not recognize the S Pen actions. For more information about the S Pen, visit the Samsung website. If the S Pen is not working properly, take it to a Samsung Service Center. Be careful not to pinch your fingers with the tweezers. Do not reuse old nibs. Doing so may cause the S Pen to malfunction. Do not press the nib excessively when inserting the nib into the S Pen. Do not insert the round end of the nib into the S Pen. Doing so may cause damage to the S Pen or your device. Do not bend or apply excessive pressure with the S Pen while using it. The S Pen may be damaged or the nib may be deformed. 22 Basics Air command Introduction Air command is a menu that provides S Pen features quickly. To open the Air command panel, hover the S Pen over the screen and press the S Pen button. Alternatively, select the Start button (

) Air Command. Create note: Launch the Samsung Notes application and create a new note. Refer to Samsung Notes for more information. View all notes: Launch the Samsung Notes application and check all saved notes. Smart select: Use the S Pen to select an area and perform actions, such as sharing or saving. Refer to Smart select for more information. Screen write: Capture screenshots to write or draw on them or crop an area from the captured image. Also you can capture content that continues across multiple screens at once. Refer to Screen write for more information. Live Message: Instead of a text message, create a unique message by recording your actions while handwriting or drawing a live message and saving it as an animated file. Show Window: Show Window allows you to select an area on the screen and show it in full screen mode on an external display. Refer to Show Window for more information. Create note View all notes Smart select Screen write Live Message Show Window Air command 23 Basics Smart select Use the S Pen to select an area and perform actions, such as sharing or saving. You can also select an area from a video and capture it as a GIF animation. 1 When there is content you want to capture, open the Air command panel and select Smart select. 3 Select an editing option and edit the selected area. Eraser mode Redo Undo 2 Select a desired shape icon on the toolbar and drag the S Pen across the content you want to select. Pen mode Extract text from the selected area. Crop the selected area. Share the selected area. Copy the selected area. Save the selected area. 24 Basics Screen write Capture screenshots to write or draw on them or crop an area from the captured image. 1 When there is content you want to capture, open the Air command panel and select Screen write. The current screen is automatically captured and the editing toolbar appears. 2 Write a memo on the screenshot. 3 Select an option to use with the screenshot.

: Save the screenshot. It is not possible to capture a screenshot while using some application or some features. Show Window Show Window allows you to select an area on the screen and show it in full screen mode on an external display. You can draw or highlight items on the screen using the S Pen. Before using this feature, you must connect the computer to an external display. Showing a selected area on an external display device 1 Connect the computer to an external display device. 2 Open the Air command panel and select Show Window. 25 3 Press and hold the Fn key and press the F4 key repeatedly, then select Extend for project mode. Using tools While showing the screen on the connected display, you can write or draw on the screen using the following tools. Cursor mode Pen mode Highlighter mode Undo/Redo Eraser mode While using the pen or highlighter, select the desired icon again to change the color or line thickness. Basics Selected area 4 Select Start. A frame for selecting area will appear. Start is activated only when the project mode is set to Extend. 5 Drag select Done. to select an area to show in an external display and The selected area will be shown on the external display. To fix the ratio of the selected area to the ratio of the external display, select the Fixed ratio switch to activate it. To stop displaying the screen, select Stop. 26 Basics Samsung Notes Introduction Create notes by entering text from the keyboard or by writing or drawing on the screen with the S Pen. You can also insert images or voice recordings into your notes. Creating notes 1 Select the Start button (

. You can also open the Air command panel and select the Create note shortcut. Write or draw with pens. Enter text using the keyboard. Paint with brushes. 2 Select an input method from the toolbar at the top of the screen and compose a note. Insert a voice recording. Insert an image. 3 When you are finished composing the note, select Save. 27 Composing notes in handwriting mode Using the line eraser On the note composer screen, select Pen to write or draw with the S Pen. Undo Redo When you want to erase handwriting from a note, tap select an area to erase. Alternatively, select an area while pressing and holding the S Pen button. and To change the eraser type, tap once more. Erase line by line: Erase the line you select. Erase touched area: Erase only the area you select. You can adjust the size of the eraser by dragging the size adjustment bar. ERASE ALL: Clear the note. Even with a smaller eraser, you may still not be able to precisely erase the intended part. Tapping and holding (right-clicking) To use additional options of an item, tap and hold it on the touch screen. 32 Basics Dragging To move an item to another location, tap and hold it, and then drag it on the touch screen to the desired location. To zoom in, spread two fingers apart on an image or text. Pinch to zoom out. Spreading and pinching Scrolling To scroll up, down, left, or right, swipe on the touch screen. or 33 Basics Do not subject the touch screen to severe impacts or press it with sharp objects. Doing so may damage the touch screen. Do not allow the touch screen to come into contact with other electrical devices. Electrostatic discharges can cause the touch screen to malfunction. Do not expose the touch screen to water. The touch screen may malfunction in humid conditions or when exposed to water. Do not spray liquid cleansing solutions directly onto the touch screen. The solution may enter the touch screen or cause undesired operation. To clean the screen, dampen a cloth with solution and gently wipe the screen. Do not use solutions or cloths that contain abrasive materials, as they may damage the touch screen. Do not damage the edges of the touch screen. Doing so may damage the touch screen. Leaving the touch screen idle for extended periods may result in afterimages (screen burn-in) or ghosting. Turn off the touch screen when you are not using the computer. Make sure your hands are clean and dry before using the touch screen. Remove any moisture from your hands before using the touch screen. Do not expose the computer to foreign substances. Doing so may cause the touch screen to malfunction. Very light touches on the touch screen may not be recognized. Precisely tap items on the touch screen for the best results. When used under some 3-wavelength lamps, the touch screen could malfunction. The touch screen sensors are located on the edges of the touch screen. Therefore, do not cover the edges of the touch screen with protective covers or accessories. Touch screen gestures are available for touch screen models running Windows and work only with some applications. 34 Basics Entering text Use the on-screen keyboard to enter text. To open the on-screen keyboard, select on the taskbar. Some languages are not supported by the virtual keyboard. To enter text, change the input language to one of the supported languages. When using the computer for extended periods, it is recommended to enter text with the physical keyboard. The on-screen keyboard is only available in tablet mode. For all caps, tap it twice. Change the keyboard language. Move the cursor. Enter a space. Enter emoticons. Enter numerals and punctuation marks. Change the keyboard layout. Activate the dictation feature to convert spoken words into text. Add an item from the clipboard. Add keyboards to enter text in other languages. Select Add a preferred language a language. Then, select select a language. and Handwriting Select input field.

Using hot keys To use keyboard hot keys, do one of the following:

Press and hold the Fn key and press a hot key. Press the Fn Lock key. When the Fn Lock key turns on, press a hot key. When the Fn Lock key is on, hot keys are activated without pressing the Fn key. 37 Basics Hot key functions Key/Icon Description F1 F2 F3 F4 F5 F6 F7 F8 Samsung Settings: Launch the Samsung Settings application. Screen brightness control: Adjust the brightness of the display. LCD/External monitor: Switch between the LCD and an external display device when an external display device is connected to the computer. Touchpad: Turn the touchpad function on or off. Mute: Mute or unmute the audio. Volume control: Adjust the volume level. Key/Icon Description F9 F10 F11 F12 Keyboard backlight: Turn the keyboard backlight on or off. Outdoor+ Mode: Set the screen brightness to the maximum level. WPS (Wireless Power Share) Mode: Turn the WPS mode on or off. You can charge another device with your devices battery. When the WPS feature is on, the touchpad will not work. Quick Search: Search for content on the device quickly. If the hot keys do not work properly, install the Samsung Settings application. 38 Basics Touchpad Use the touchpad to move the cursor or select an item. The left and right buttons of the touchpad act the same as the left and right buttons of a mouse. Clicking Tap Tap the touchpad or press the left touchpad button. or Click Use the touchpad only with fingers. The touchpad will not recognize actions of other objects. Images and the touchpad layout may differ depending on the model. Basic touchpad functions Moving To move the cursor, move a finger on the touchpad. Double-clicking Double-tap the touchpad or press the left touchpad button twice. Tap-tap or Click-click 39 Basics Right-clicking This function enables right-clicking. To right-click an item, press the right touchpad button. Swiping Gesture functions To scroll up, down, left or right to a desired location, swipe with two fingers on the touchpad. The computer has an additional partition for restoring data or saving backup files (only for models with the Samsung Recovery application). This partition is called a Recovery Area and it includes a recovery image comprised of the operating system and applications. Why is the capacity representation of the hard disk drive (HDD) in Windows different from the product specifications?

The capacity of the storage device (HDD or SSD) of the manufacturer is calculated assuming that 1 KB = 1,000 Bytes. However, the operating system (Windows) calculates the storage device capacity assuming that 1 KB = 1,024 Bytes, and therefore the capacity representation of the HDD in Windows is smaller than the actual capacity. The capacity representation in Windows may be smaller than the actual capacity because some applications occupy a certain area of the HDD outside of Windows. For models with the Samsung Recovery application, the HDD capacity representation in Windows may be smaller than the actual capacity because the Samsung Recovery application uses a hidden area of 520 GB of the HDD to save the recovery image, and that hidden area is not counted towards the total size available to Windows. Miscellaneous This refers to the operating system, drivers, and software that are converted to a data image. It is required to recover the computer and is embedded in the computers HDD. Avoid using headphones for long periods of time. Default audio settings can be changed by software and driver updates without your knowledge. Always recheck equalizer and volume settings before listening to audio. Reduce the risk of repetitive motion injuries. When you repetitively perform actions, such as pressing keys, drawing characters on a touch screen with your fingers, or playing games, you may experience occasional discomfort in your hands, neck, shoulders, or other parts of your body. When using your computer for extended periods, hold the computer with a relaxed grip, press the keys lightly, and take frequent breaks. If you continue to have discomfort during or after such use, stop using the computer and consult a physician. Appendix Operating conditions Take at least a 10 minute break every hour. Avoid using the computer in dark locations. Use the computer with as much ambient light as you would when reading a book. Indirect illumination is recommended. Use a curtain to prevent reflections and glare on the screen. While operating a computer and talking on the phone, use a headset. Failure to do so may result in an explosion or fire. 91 Appendix Replace a run-down battery with a new, Samsung-approved battery. Usage related Dispose of worn-out batteries properly. There is a danger of fire or explosion. The battery disposal method may differ depending on your country and region. Dispose of the used battery in an appropriate way. When removing the real time clock (RTC) battery, keep it away from infants and children. If a child swallows the battery, the child may suffocate. If this happens, immediately contact a doctor. Do not throw or disassemble the battery and do not put it into water. There is a danger of injury, fire or explosion. Charge the battery according to the instructions in the manual. Failure to do so may result in an electric shock or fire. 94 Appendix Close the LCD panel only after checking if the notebook computer is turned off. Do not store your device near or in heaters, microwaves, hot cooking equipment, or high pressure containers. The temperature may rise and it may cause deformation of the product. The battery may leak. Your device may overheat and cause a fire. Do not press the eject button while the CD-ROM drive is in operation. You might lose data and the disc might be suddenly ejected and could cause an injury. Do not drop or hit the computer against anything. Failure to do so may result in physical injury or computer malfunction. When handling computer parts, follow the instructions on the manual supplied with the parts. Failure to do so may result in damage to the product. If the product emits smoke or there is a burning smell, disconnect the power plug from the wall outlet and contact a Samsung Service Center immediately. For notebook computers that are supplied with an optional removable battery, disconnect the battery. There is a danger of fire. Do not use damaged or illegally modified CDs. There is a danger of damaging the product or personal injury. Do not insert the fingers into the ports (holes), card slot, or vents. There is a danger of injury or electric shock. When in a hospital, turn off your computer and follow all hospital regulations. Radio frequencies emitted from the computer may affect medical equipment. Appendix There is a danger of injury due to an abrupt ejection. Do not use the product if it is cracked or broken. Broken glass or acrylic could cause injury to your hands and face. Take the device to a Samsung Service Center to have it repaired. When using wireless communication (LAN, Bluetooth, etc.) always follow applicable instructions. For example, airlines and hospitals have strict requirements. Avoid exposing a drive to magnetic fields. Security devices with magnetic fields include airport walk-through devices and security wands. The airport security devices that check carry-on luggage, such as conveyor belts, use X-rays instead of magnetism and will not damage a drive. Keep the computer away from magnetic material. Magnetic materials may cause computer malfunction or cause the battery to discharge. To avoid damaging the computer or magnetic stripe cards, such as credit cards, keep magnetic stripe cards away from the computer. 96 Appendix Upgrade Related Do not attempt to upgrade the computer, unless you are qualified. Otherwise, contact a Samsung Service Center or an authorized technician. When you upgrade permitted devices, according to the manual, follow the specified instructions in the manual to upgrade them. Do not disassemble any other parts by yourself. Failure to do so may result in computer malfunction, electric shock, or fire. Take care when touching the product or parts. The computer may be damaged or you may be injured. Do not disassemble the power supply unit in any circumstances. Failure to do so may result in electric shock, fire, or an explosion. Shut down the computer and disconnect all cables before disassembling the computer. For notebook computers that are supplied with an optional removable battery, disconnect the battery. Failure to do so may cause electric shock. Make sure to close the computer cover before connecting the power after a reassembly. To connect a device that is not manufactured or authorized by Samsung, enquire at a Samsung Service Center before connecting the device. There is a danger of damaging the product. 97 Appendix Storage and movement related Do not store the computer in an enclosed space, such as a computer bag, while it is running. Failure to do so may result in fire. Completely shut down the computer before putting the computer into an enclosed space. When carrying the notebook computer with other items, such as the adapter, mouse, books etc., take care not to press anything against the notebook computer. If a heavy object is pressed against the notebook computer, a white spot or stain may appear on the LCD. Do not operate or look at the computer while driving a vehicle. There is a danger of a traffic accident. Please concentrate on driving. For long periods of inactivity or storage, discharge the battery and separate it from the computer (for external or removable battery types). Cautions on preventing data loss (hard disk management) Take care not to damage the data on a storage device. Subjecting the device to physical impacts may result in data loss. The data may be lost when the computer is turned off or reset by a power failure while the storage device is operating. The data may be lost and irrecoverable due to a computer virus. The data may be lost if the power is turned off while running an application. Samsung is not liable for any loss of data on the storage device. To prevent data loss due to damage to the hard disk drive, please back up the data frequently. 98 Appendix LCD bad pixels Samsung observes strict specifications regarding the quality and reliability of the LCD. However, there is a small chance that a few pixels may be bad. A large number of bad pixels can cause problems with the display, but a small number of bad pixels does not generally affect computer performance. Samsungs quality standards for bad pixels are as follows:

Bright dot: 2 or fewer Black dot: 4 or fewer Combination (bright and dark): 4 or fewer Clean the LCD screen with a soft cloth dampened with computer cleansing detergent. Do not use excessive force. Doing so may damage the LCD screen. 99 Appendix Important safety information Setting up the system Safety instructions The system is designed and tested to meet the latest standards for safety of information technology equipment. However, to ensure safe use of this product, it is important that the safety instructions marked on the product and in the documentation are followed. Always follow these instructions to help guard against personal injury and damage to the system. Read and follow all instructions marked on the product and in the documentation before operating the system. Retain all safety and operating instructions for future use. Do not use this product near water or a heat source such as a radiator. Set up the system on a stable work surface. The product should be operated only with the type of power source indicated on the rating label. Ensure that the electrical outlet to power the equipment is easily accessible in case of fire or short circuit. If the computer has a voltage selector switch, make sure that the switch is in the proper position for your area. Openings in the computer case are provided for ventilation. Do not block or cover these openings. Make sure you provide adequate space, at least 6 inches (15 cm), around the system for ventilation when setting up your work area. Never insert objects of any kind into the computer ventilation openings. 100 Appendix Ensure that the fan vents on the bottom of the casing are clear at all times. Do not place the computer on a soft surface, doing so will block the bottom vents. When using an extension cord with this system, make sure that the total power rating on the products plugged into the extension cord does not exceed the extension cord power rating. For Notebooks with glossy display bezels the user should consider the placement of the Notebook as the bezel may cause reflections from surrounding light and bright surfaces. Care during use Do not walk on the power cord or allow anything to rest on it. Do not spill anything on the computer or its components. The best way to avoid spills is to not eat or drink near the computer or its components. Some products have a replaceable CMOS battery on the system board. There is a danger of explosion if the CMOS battery is replaced incorrectly. Replace the battery with the same or equivalent type recommended by the manufacturer. Dispose of batteries according to the manufacturers instructions. If the CMOS battery requires replacement ensure that a qualified technician performs the task. When the computer is turned off, a small amount of electrical current still flows through the computer. To avoid electrical shock, always unplug all power cables, remove the battery and modem cables from the wall outlets before cleaning the system. 101 Appendix Unplug the system from the wall outlet and contact a Samsung Service Center if:

The power cord or plug is damaged. Liquid has been spilled into the computer. The computer does not operate properly when the operating instructions are followed. The computer was dropped or the casing is damaged. The computer performance changes. Operating instructions 1 When installing and operating devices please refer to safety requirements in the user manual. 2 Devices can be used only with the equipment specified in the technical specifications of the devices. 3 If any smell of burning or smoke is detected from the computer the unit should be switched off and the battery removed. The unit should be checked by a qualified technician before reuse. 4 Service and repair of devices should be carried out by authorized service centers. 5 Do not allow the portable computer to operate with the base resting directly on exposed skin for extended periods of time. The surface temperature of the base will rise during normal operation (particularly when AC Power is present). Allowing sustained contact with exposed skin can cause discomfort or eventually a burn. 102 Appendix Replacement parts and accessories Use only replacement parts and accessories recommended by manufacturer. To reduce the risk of fire, use only No. 26 AWG or larger telecommunications line cord. Do not use this product in areas classified as hazardous. Such areas include patient care areas of medical and dental facilities, oxygen rich environments, or industrial areas. Battery disposal Do not put rechargeable batteries or products powered by non-removable rechargeable batteries in the garbage. Contact the Samsung Service Center for information on how to dispose of batteries that you cannot use or recharge any longer. Follow all local regulations when disposing of old batteries. (DHHS) Radiation Performance Standard. Should the unit ever need servicing, contact an authorized service location. Laser Safety Note: Use of controls or adjustments or performance of procedures other than those specified in this manual may result in hazardous radiation exposure. To prevent exposure to laser beams, do not try to open the enclosure of a CD or DVD drive. Class 1M laser radiation when operating part is open. Do not view directly with optical instruments. Class 3B invisible laser radiation when open. Avoid exposure to the beam. Connecting and disconnecting the AC adapter The socket-outlet shall be installed near the equipment and shall be easily accessible. Do not unplug the power cord by pulling the cable only. 104 Appendix Power cord requirements The power cord set (all plugs, cable and AC adapter plugs) you received with your computer meets the requirements for use in the country where you purchased your equipment. Power cord sets for use in other countries must meet the requirements of the country where you use the computer.
