The wireless module and the end devices are designed for industrial use cases in extended temperature ranges and utilize 802.11 protocol enhancements for improved reliability. The devices require 24V DC power with industrial capable connectors and are sold as a part of industrial networking solutions. A wide variety of antenna and cable options, combined with multiple configuration possibilities require that installation be done by trained, electrical professionals. iv) Other professional installation requirements.

(1) Installation must be controlled. The devices are intended for use in industrial solutions i.e. production plants, transportation, oil and gas platforms and requires careful considerations on the reliability of the devices and on the national and local safety requirements. As a result, the installation of the systems including the WLAN devices is performed by professionally trained installers.

(2) Installed by licensed professionals (e.g., device sold to dealer who hire installers). The providers of industrial solutions employ trained staff for the installation of the complete system including the WLAN devices. For the installers employed by the providers of industrial solutions certified trainings are offered by Siemens AG.
