The Vehicle Kit contains the magnetic satellite antenna for the vehicle, and the Home Kit contains the indoor/outdoor home antenna for the home or office. A good satellite signal will enable reception of the satellite channels, which is the default listening mode for the Radio, but a satellite antenna/signal is not necessary in a home or office installation where there is a good and stable Wi-Fi connection to the Internet. Internet Connectivity. The Radio can be connected via a Wi-Fi connection to the Internet to receive content offered by SiriusXM via Internet streaming. Additional content is available when connected to the Internet: streaming IP channels, XTRA channels, listener created Pandora Artist Stations, and On-Demand content. Content that is available on both satellite and Internet is received via satellite when a satellite signal is present, but may switch to Internet streaming when there is no satellite signal. In a vehicle, an internet connection is established by tethering the Radio via a Wi-Fi connection to a mobile hotspot that has a cellular data plan. Examples of hotspot capable devices are iOS and Android smartphones and tablets, and stand-alone mobile hotspots such as Verizon MiFi/Jetpack, etc. In a home or office, an Internet connection is established by connecting the Radio to a Wi-Fi router that has an internet connection. Loss of Satellite Signal or Loss of Internet Connection Fall-over. For channels which are available on both satellite and Internet, by default the Radio will use the satellite connection, if present. If the satellite signal or Internet connection is lost while listening, the Radio will display a button on the Now Playing screen, Switch to Internet or Switch to Satellite to continue listening to the channel, if the alternate is available. 6 Feature Summary Setup Guide. New to the aftermarket radio is an on-board Setup Guide, designed to assist a customer in getting the radio installed quickly and easily. The screen-by-screen guide takes the listener through the steps of subscribing*, receiving a good satellite signal, connecting to the Internet, selecting and connecting an audio connection option, and authorizing the radio for the SiriusXM service and authenticating for Internet service. The guide is initially automatically offered when the radio is turned on and detects it is not authorized for the SiriusXM service (typically a newly purchased radio), but can also be run at any time (for re-installation or configuration changes).
*Purchasing a subscription requires a phone, or online requires a computer/tablet/phone connected to the internet. the Radio does not natively support purchasing a subscription through the radio on-boarding process. Audio Option Solutions. The Radio offers a Bluetooth audio option for increased audio solutions for vehicle headunits and home entertainment systems, along with the legacy audio solutions of FM output and AUX In cable. (The FM Direct Adapter (FMDA) and Cassette Adapter are additional audio solution options requiring the purchase of additional hardware not included with the Radio kits.) 7 Feature Summary Software Updates. Software updates allow the Radio to be updated with new features when they become available, and whenever necessary to update the system software. The Radio receives module firmware updates over-the-air (via satellite), and also automatically checks for updates via an Internet connection. Updates via the Internet can be a combination of any or all of: Platform software (Android OS, Drivers, Bootloader, etc.), Application software, Middleware, and Module firmware. When a software update becomes available, the listener is notified and can choose to install or defer the update to a later time (with the exception of module firmware updates which are installed at power on or within 24 hours, and also for SiriusXM pushed important updates which are installed immediately). A listener can also manually check for an update when there is an Internet connection, and manually choose to install an update that was previously deferred. (Software updates are also possible using the USB port of the radio with an OTG USB drive, but this method is restricted to refurbishments and troubleshooting and is not customer facing.) Content Tuning. Channels are easily navigated and tuned using the on-screen channel up/down buttons on the Now Playing screen, or by entering a channel number using Direct Tune to directly tune a channel, or by using the 360L linear tuner which displays channels in a tile format on a carousel for content browsing and discovery. The linear tuner is swiped left or right to browse through channels, and the channel tile in focus is tuned, or the listener can tap a tile to select a channel. Channels may also be tuned from the category browsing screens. 8 Feature Summary Voice. Voice navigation assists a listener in tuning to a channel, browsing a category, or tuning to a sports game. The listener taps the voice icon on the Now Playing screen and speaks a command such as, Search, Play, Find, Goto, Listen to, Open, etc. Note that voice search is on-board only (not Internet based), and is limited to channel and sports game tuning, and category browsing. In a future release of the Radio software, Internet based search functionality will be added. Related Content Suggestions. Related content is suggestions of other content related to the currently tuned channel. When a Internet connection is present, related suggestions may include Internet-only content which is not offered when there is only a satellite connection. Related suggestions are accessed through the Related button on the Now Playing screen. For You Suggestions. For You is suggestions of content based upon the listening history. When an Internet connection is present, Recommendations get smarter and continue to grow with more listening. For You suggestions may include Internet-only content which is not offered when there is only a satellite connection. For You suggestions are accessed through the Preferences button to the right of the touchscreen and selecting the For You button. 9 Feature Summary Channel Categories. Channels are grouped into super-categories with sub-categories to assist the listener in locating and browsing channels by genre and type. Super-categories are high level categories such as Music, Sports, News, Talk, and contain sub-categories that are sorted by genre and type. For example, in the Music super-category there are sub-categories such as Pop, Rock, Dance/Electronic, etc., and in each sub-category are the channels for that category. When On-Demand is selected, content is shown by show name, and within a show, by episodes. Episodes can be selected for listening. Shows can be saved as a favorites, and also an alert can be created for a show to alert the listener when new episodes become available. Pandora Artist Stations. Pandora Artist Stations are virtual stations created for an artist which has been selected by the listener. A station will play songs by the selected artist and also similar songs by other artists. The station can be further curated by the listener by selecting likes or dislikes of the songs as they are played. Pandora Artist Stations are offered through the Related and For You suggested content, when available. Once created, stations can be saved and tuned as a favorite, tuned from Related or For You suggestions, and also tuned by browsing to the list of stations by selecting the Pandora Stations button in Preferences. 11 Feature Summary Replay. played, and fast-forwarded using the replay controls on the Now Playing screen. For Internet channels replay is available for up to several hours while for satellite channels replay time varies. Favorites are accessed through the Favorites soft button to the right of the touchscreen. 12 Feature Summary Alerts. Alerts provide instant notification of a song, an artist, a sports game, or a show for which an alert has been created. When a saved song, artist, sports team, or show begins to play, an alert is displayed and the content can be directly tuned, if desired. A combination of up to 50 alerts may be saved. Alerts can be managed in Preferences and can also be turned off or on individually, or all alerts globally turned off or on. TuneStart. TuneStart plays the currently playing song from the beginning when a music channel is tuned. TuneStart is enabled for qualified music channels which have been saved as favorites. (Note that not every music channel is a qualified music channel. There are some music channels that do not support TuneStart.) Start Over. The Start Over button is contextual and appears on the Now Playing screen when the currently tuned content allows a listener to restart the content from the beginning. Start Over can be used when tuned to a show, or tuned to an On-Demand episode. 13 Feature Summary Jump. The Jump button on the Now Playing screen facilitates jumping between the currently tuned channel and the immediate previously tuned channel. An example would be when listening to two sports games or two shows, and easily jumping back and forth between the two channels. Block Explicit. Explicit (xL) channels can be blocked so that these channels are shown as Unavailable in channel lists and cannot be tuned. When explicit channels are blocked, if an explicit channel is tuned, a message informs the listener that the channel is blocked. Block Explicit is managed through Preferences. Show/Hide Channels. Specific channels can be hidden if a listener does not wish to have these channels shown in channel lists or category lists. Hidden channels may still be tuned by entering the channel number of a hidden channel using Direct Tune. Showing and hiding channels are managed through Preferences. 14 Feature Summary Metadata Scrolling. Metadata scrolling can be set to Never Scroll, Scroll Once, or Continuous Scroll, according to listeners preference.
