Preparations 13 14 Preparation of the Printer Before using the printer for the first time, you need to install a print cartridge and the paper tray, as indicated below. These preparations are not needed for everyday print operations, but are to be done as required. Preparing a print pack You need an optional printing pack (UPC-X46 or UPC-
X34) designed for the printer. The pack contains a set of print paper and a print cartridge.
* Do not rewind the ink ribbon and use the rewound print cartridge for printing. Otherwise, proper printing result will not be obtained, or even a breakdown may occur.
* Use the printing pack for this printer only.
+ Always use the print cartridge designed for the size of the print paper you use. If you mix cartridges and paper of different types or sizes, printing may not be possible, or a paper jam or other trouble may occur.
* Do not print on the used print paper. Printing an image twice on the same paper will not make the printed image thicker. This may even cause a malfunction or breakdown.
* Do not touch the ink ribbon of the print cartridge or the printing surface of the print paper. If there are fingerprints or dust on the printing surface or the ink ribbon, the printing quality may deteriorate.
+ For high quality prints, avoid placing the printing pack in locations that are subject to high temperature, high humidity, excessive dust, or direct sunlight.
+ When storing a partially used pack of the print cartridge and print paper, store it in its original bag or in a similar container. * Operate the printer and the AC power adaptor using the power source specified in Specifications
(page 58). Be careful not to damage the power cord by placing or dropping heavy objects on it; it is dangerous touse the _ printer or AC power adaptor with a damaged power cord.
+ If you do not intend to use the printer or AC power adaptor for a long time, disconnect the power cord.
* Unplug the power cord by grasping the plug, not the cord itself. The negligible amount of electric current will flow into the AC power adaptor as long as the AC power adaptor is plugged into the wall outlet.
* While the AC power adaptor is in use, it gets warm. But this is normal.
* Be sure that nothing metallic comes into contact with the metal parts of the AC power adaptor or connecting plate. If it does, a short may occur and the unit may be damaged.
+ Always keep the metal contacts of the AC power adaptor clean. Do not apply mechanical shock or drop the unit.
* Do not disassemble or convert the unit.
* Do not remove the cover. There is a danger of electric shock from the internal parts.
* Be careful not to spill water or other liquids on the unit, or to allow combustible or metallic material to -
enter the cabinet. If used with foreign matter in the cabinet, the unit is liable to fail, or present a risk of fire or electric shock.
* Ventilation holes are provided to prevent the printer from overheating. Be careful not to obstruct them with other units or by covering the printer with a cloth etc.
+ If the printer malfunctions or if a foreign body falls into the cabinet, disconnect the power immediately and consult your Sony service facility or your Sony dealer. Precautions Installation Avoid placing the printer or camera in a location subject to:
~ mechanical vibration high humidity excessive dust
~ where it is exposed to rain direct or excessive sunlight extremely high or low temperatures close to sources of strong magnetism close to sources of powerful electromagnetic radiation, such as radios or TV transmitters
* Donotuse other electronic equipment near the printer. It will not work properly in strong electromagnetic fields.
* Do not place a heavy object such as a monitor on the printer.
* Keep the AC power adaptor away from AM receivers, because it will disturb AM reception. Condensation
* Ifthe printer is subject to wide and sudden changes in temperature, such as when it is moved from a cold room to a warm room or when it is left in a room with a heater that tends to produce large amounts of moisture, condensation may form inside the printer. In such cases the printer will probably not work properly, and may even develop a fault if you persist in using it. If condensation forms, turn off the power and leave the printer to stand for at least one hour.
* If the printing pack is subjected to wide and sudden changes in temperature, condensation may form on the print cartridge or paper. This will cause the printer to malfunction. Also, if the printing pack is used in this state, spots are likely to appear on the printout. Therefore, avoid storing the printing pack in locations subject to wide and sudden changes of temperature.
* To store a half-used printing pack, replace it in its original packing and reseal the package. If possible, keep the sealed printing pack in a cool, dark location. To subsequently use the printing pack, place it, in its sealed package, in a warm room for several hours. Doing so prevents condensation from forming when the printing pack is removed from its package. Location To prevent internal heat built-up, leave enough room around the printer for air to circulate through the vents on the left hand side of the cabinet. On transportation
* Do not transport the printer with the supplied accessories. Doing so may cause malfunction.
+ Retain the original carton and packing materials in case you have to transport the unit in the future. Operation Test shooting Before shooting, you should always take a few test shots and review them to see that the camera is functioning normally. Copyright laws You may take pictures for your personal enjoyment with this digital still camera. However, it is illegal to take pictures of items protected by copyright laws without the permission of the copyright owner. Keep this in mind when shooting in concerts, shows and exhibitions, etc. many of the items on display are protected by copyrights. Cleaning
* Before cleaning the printer, turn the power of the printer off and unplug the power cord.
* Clean the cabinet, panel and controls with a soft dry cloth, or a soft cloth lightly moistened with a mild detergent solution. Do not use any type of solvent, such as alcohol or benzine, which may damage the finish.
* Use a blower to remove dust from the lens. Batteries Be sure to observe followings
* To prevent accident from a short circuit, do not allow metal objects to come into contact with the battery terminals.
* Keep the batteries away from fire.
* Never expose the batteries to temperature above 60C, such as in a car parked in the sun or under direct sunlight.
* Keep the batteries dry.
* Do not expose the batteries to any mechanical shock.
* Do not short the terminals.
* Do not disassemble nor modify the batteries.
* Attach the batteries to electronic equipment securely.
* Please refer to the operating instruction of the electronic equipment for further information. Charging the batteries
* Use only the specified charger or equipment with the charging function.
* To enable to charge the battery efficiently, we recommend charging the batteries fully in an ambient temperature of between 0C to 35C. Using the batteries
* Charge before using.
* Battery performance decreases in low-temperature surroundings. So, the time that the batteries can be used is shorter in cold places. We recommend the following to use longer:
Put the batteries in a pocket to warm it up, and insert it in your electronic equipment immediately before you start taking shots.
+ Have spare batteries handy for two or three times the expected recording time, and make trial recording before taking the actual recording.
* If the power may go off although the remaining battery time indicator indicates that the batteries have enough power to operate, charge the batteries fully again so that the indication on the remaining battery time indicator is correct. Note, however, that the correct battery indication sometimes will not be restored if it is used in high temperatures for a long time or left in a fully charged state, or the batteries are frequently used. Regard the remaining battery time indication as the approximate shooting time. How to store the batteries If the batteries are not to be used for a long time, do the following procedure once per year to maintain proper function. 1 Fully charge the battery. 2 Discharge on your electronic equipment. 3 Remove the batteries from the equipment and store them in a dry, cool place. Battery life
* The battery life is limited. Battery capacity drops little by little as you use it more and more, and as time passes. When the available battery time is shortened considerably, a probable cause is that the batteries have reached the end of its life. Please buy a new batteries. The battery life varies according to how it is stored and operating conditions and environment for each batteries. Warranty for Recorded Content Contents of the recording cannot be compensated if recording or playback is not made due to a malfunction of the batteries, etc. You dont have to discharge the batteries before recharging. Charging while some capacity remains does not affect the original battery capacity. FCC ID: AK8DKCC200X Additional information in accordance with requirements of FCC 15.247 and FCC Public Notice DA 00-705 1. Frequencies tested Frequencies for the test are 2402 MHz, 2441 MHz and 2480 MHz as specified in 15.31(m). 2. Antenna requirement The Bluetooth transceivers are used for picture data transmission between digital still camera and digital photo printer. The antenna is a chip antenna and is permanently mounted on a printed electronic circuit board in the camera and printer. It is impossible for end user to replace it. This antenna configuration complies with the requirement of FCC 15.203. The antenna information is submitted in a separate document in Exhibits. 3. AC conducted noise The AC line conducted interference measurement is carried out in accordance with ANSI C63.4-2001 and the compliance are reported in the test report. 4. Carrier frequency separation The measurement is carried out in accordance with FCC Public Notice DA 00-705 and the compliance is reported in the test report. 5. Hopping frequency requirements The number of hopping frequencies is measured in accordance with FCC Public Notice DA 00-705 and reported the compliance in the test report. On pseudorandom frequency hopping sequence the following is an example of a 79 hopping sequence in data transmission mode:
40, 21, 44, 23, 42, 53, 46, 55, 48, 33, 52, 35, 50, 20, 54, 67, 56, 37, 60, 39, 58, 69, 62, 71, 64, 25, 68, 27, 66, 57, 70, 59, 72, 29, 76, 31, 74, 61, 78, 63, 01, 41, 05, 43, 03, 73, 07, 75, 09, 45, 13, 47, 11, 77, 15, 00, 16, 49, 28, 22, 34, 02, 19, 06, 17, 51, 32, 36, 14, 04, 12, 26, 18, 24, 38, 08, 30, 65, 10 Example of a hopping sequence in inquiry mode:
47, 08, 71, 63, 57, 02, 61, 45, 55, 59, 10, 73, 65, 69, 43, 27, 00, 77, 04, 67, 37, 06, 31, 75, 33, 39, 51, 29, 40, 14, 35, 49 Example of a hopping sequence in paging mode:
08, 57, 68, 70, 51, 02, 42, 40, 04, 61, 44, 46, 63, 14, 50, 48, 16, 65, 52, 54, 67, 18, 58, 56, 20, 53, 60, 62, 55, 06, 66, 64 The requirement of equal hopping frequency use is met by a unique generation of the hopping sequence specified in the Bluetooth Standard as follows;
The generation of the hopping sequence in connection mode depends essentially on two input values:
1. LAP/UAP of the master of the connection 2. Internal master clock The LAP (lower address part) is the 24 LSBs of the 48 BD_ADDRESS. The BD_ADDRESS is an unambiguous number of every Bluetooth unit. The UAP (upper address part) are the 24 MSBs of the 48 BD_ADDRESS. The internal clock of a Bluetooth unit is derived from a free running clock which is never adjusted and is never turned off. For synchronization with other units only offset are used. It has no relation to the time of the day. Its resolution is at least half the RX/TX slot length of 312.5 us. The clock has a cycle of about one day (23 hours and half). In most case it is implemented as 28 bits counter. For the deriving of the hopping sequence the entire LAP (24 bits), 4 LSBs (4 bits) (Input 1) and the 27 MSBs of the clock (Input 2) are used. With this input values different mathematical procedures
(permutations, additions and XOR-operations) are performed to generate the sequence. This will be done at the beginning of every new transmission. Regarding short transmissions the Bluetooth system has the following behavior;
The first connection between the two devices is established, because a hopping sequence was generated. For transmitting the wanted data the complete hopping sequence was not used. The connection ended. The second connection is established. A new hopping sequence is generated. Due to the fact that the Bluetooth clock has a different value, the period between the two transmissions are longer than the minimum resolution of the clock (312.5 us). The hopping sequence always differs from the first one. For the generation of the inquiry and page hop sequences the same procedures as described above, but this time with different input vectors. For the inquiry hop sequence, a predefined fixed address is always used. This results on the same 32 frequencies used by all devices doing an inquiry but every time with a different start frequency and phase in this sequence. For the page hop sequence, the device address of the paged unit is used as input vector. This results in the use of a subset of 32 frequencies which is specific for that initial state of the connection establishment between the two units. A page to different devices would result in a different subset of 32 frequencies. 6. Dwell time Dwell times are measured in accordance with FCC Public Notice DA 00-705 and reported the compliance in the test report. 7. 20 dB bandwidth The 20 dB bandwidth is measured in accordance with FCC Public Notice DA 00-705 and reported the compliance in the test report. 8. Receiver input bandwidth and hopping capability The input bandwidth of the receiver is limited to 1 MHz by a bandpass filter at the IF stage. It complies with the transmitter bandwidth at each hopping frequency. In every connection one Bluetooth device is the master and the other one is the slave. The master determines the hopping sequence. The slave follows this sequence. Both devices shift between RX and TX time slot according to the clock of the master. Additionally the type of connection is set up at the beginning of the connection. The master adapts its hopping frequency and its TX/RX timing according to the packet type of the connection. Also the slave of the connection uses these settings. Repeating of a packet has no influence on the hopping sequence. The hopping sequence generated by the master of the connection is followed in any case. That means, a repeated packet is not sent on the same frequency, it is sent on the next frequency of the hopping sequence. 9. Peak output power The peak output power is measured in accordance with FCC Public Notice DA 00-705 and reported the compliance in the test report. 10. Defact EIRP limit The maximum gain of antenna used in DKC-C200X is 3.56 dBi (less than 6 dBi). There is no necessity to consider the defact EIRP limit. 11. RF exposure compliance The transmitting power of DKC-C200X is low. Since DKC-C200X is normally used on a desk, it falls under a category of mobile equipment. The RF exposure statement is submitted as separate Exhibit. 12. Band-edge, RF conducted and radiated spurious emissions compliance These compliance measurements are carried out in accordance with FCC Public Notice DA 00-705 and reported the compliance in the test report. 13. Requirements of 15.247 (g) and (h) The compliance with 15.247 (g) and (h) was described in above section 5. 20/May/2002 Functional Description MITSUMI Bluetooth Module WML-C09### WML-C10###
