Selecting Channel Your radio has 22 channels. The channel is the frequency the radio uses to transmit. 1. When the radio is powered ON, press @ or W to start to select channels. The channel number shows on the LCD screen. 2. Press Menu button and then or W to modify the selected channel details (selection of CTCSS/DCS) 3. Press Menu button again for other Menu options or to exit the menu. Talking and Listening Make sure that all radios are in your group with the same channel and CTCSS or DCS code when start to communicate. 1. Hold your radio 5-8 cm from your mouth. 2. The PTT button is divided into 2 parts, the upper part represent High and the lower part represent Low. 3. PTT Low always transmit at 1 W. PTT High transmits at a higher power when you select a high power channel
(channel 1-7 and channel 15-22). 4. Press and hold the PTT button while speaking. The transmit icon appears on the LCD screen. 5. When releasing the PTT button, you can receive incoming calls, the receive icon appears on the LCD. Push-to-Talk Time-out Timer The continuous warning tone and stops transmitting if you are pressing the PTT Button for 60 seconds, it prevents accidental transmissions and save battery life purposes. iVOX Sensitivity Levels When iVOX is turned on, the iVOX is displayed, the microphone detects if you are talking, the radio triggers the transmission automatically and the radio uses the built in microphone to detect your voice. Level Description OFF Turn off the iVOX settings. 1 Low Sensitivity for noisy environments 2 Balanced sensitivity for general use. 3 High Sensitivity for quiet environments Setting and Transmitting Call Tones Your radio has 5 Call tones for selection, you can transmit different call tones to other radios in your group. Vibrate Alert Setting When the Vibrate Alert is set to on, the radio vibrates when call is received. After the last transmission, vibration will pause for 30 seconds before it can activate again. Key Tone Setting 5 Key tones for selection for a key or a button is pressed. CALL/Keypad Lock button This button supports two functions:
1. Short Press: Sends a Call tone to alert other users. 2. Long Press (Hold for 3 seconds): Locks or unlocks the keypad to prevent accidental operation. NOTE : When the keypad is locked, the PTT, Call Tone, Flash Light, Emergency, Key Lock buttons remain functional. Monitor Button This feature allows you to monitor a channel for weak signals and check the radios volume level when no transmission is being received. To activate: press and hold the SCAN button for 3 seconds. The volume can be adjusted if needed. To cancel: Press and hold the SCAN button again for 3 seconds. Scanning Channel Use scan to search the channels for transmissions from unknown parties, to find someone in your group who has accidentally changed channels or to quickly find unused channels for your own use. To start scanning:
1. Briefly press the SCAN button. The scan icon will appear in the display, and the radio will begin to scroll through the channel and code combinations. 2. When the radio detects channel activity matching the channel and code combination, it stops scrolling and you can hear the transmission. 3. To respond and talk to the person transmitting, press the PTT button within five seconds after the end of the transmission. 4. The radio will resume scrolling through the channels five seconds after the end of any received activity. 5. To stop scanning, briefly press the SCAN button. Built-in Flashlight Press the Flashlight button to turn ON and OFF the White LED light. Headset Usage When a headset is connected to the radio, the radio speaker and microphone are disabled. The connected headset to monitor and receive messages. You can use the PTT button to make a transmission with the microphone on the headset. Emergency Alert Mode When you press Emergency Alert on the radio, all radios in your group will automatically play a warbling alert tone for 8 seconds. After that, your voice or any sounds near your radio will be broadcast to the group for 22 seconds hands-free. During this 30-second alert, all radio buttons are locked to make sure the emergency message is heard clearly by everyone. 1. Press and hold Flashlight button for 3 seconds. 2. Release the buttons and the alert tone begin to sound. There is no need to continue to hold the Emergency Alert buttons or use PTT Button for your message to be transmitted. SOS flashlight pattern turns ON 4. Emergency Alert will be OFF after 30 seconds; SOS flashlight keeps ON until press and hold the Flashlight button again for 3 seconds. WARNING: Only use the Emergency Alert feature if there is a real emergency.
