Plug the IS9181 power adapter nto the power port labeled DC 14V on the back of the IS9181, and plug the other end nto an electrcal outlet not controlled by a wall swtch. A progress bar appears on the screen whle bootng up. It may take up to three mnutes to complete ths process. However, you must remove the plastic tab before use (as shown to the rght). Replace remote control battery Use a CR2025 lthum cell battery (sold separately) or equvalent to replace the remote control battery. To replace the battery:
1. Push and hold the tab on the battery compartment to the rght and pull the compartment out of the remote control. Remove the old battery and nsert a new CR2025 lthum cell battery or equvalent nto the battery compartment wth the postve sde (+) facng up. 2 ON Menu Alarm In ths menu, you can set the alarm tme and turn t on and off. To set the alarm:

To set the alarm tme, rotate the dal to hghlght CHANGE and press SELECT. The Alarm Time screen appears. Rotate the dal to move the cursor between the hour, mnute, and AM/PM postons. When the cursor s n the desred poston, press SELECT. Rotate the dal up or down to change the tme or to change between AM and PM, and press SELECT. Repeat steps 5 and 6 untl the tme s correct. Rotate the dal to hghlght DONE and press SELECT. A lst of alarm sources appears. Rotate the dal to hghlght the alarm source and press SELECT. The Alarm Volume screen appears. Press SELECT. The alarm clock must have AC power n order to work. You cannot adjust the alarm volume usng the VOL + and VOL - keys; you must use the rotary dal. The volume for the alarm buzzer cannot be adjusted. Do any of the followng to snooze the alarm for 10 mnutes. Press Press STANDBY. The screen goes nto the snooze standby mode (the tme dsplays n the center of the screen). Press SELECT to snooze. You can snooze the alarm as many tmes as you want untl you cancel snooze mode or stop the alarm.

Equalizer setting (only available on some models) The equalizer setting offers six different audio profiles to choose from when playng the Internet Radio or My Music. 1. Make sure you are playng an Internet rado staton or My Music, then press MENU. Equalizer Setting and press SELECT. Make Rotate the dal to hghlght sure the volume s above 15 to best hear the dfferences between equalzer settngs. The current settng s shown and s playng. If you select equalizer setting without choosing a source first, you can change the setting but you hear no audo. The audio profiles are set in the factory and cannot be changed. The dfferences you hear between the equalzer settngs wll vary dependng on the type of musc you are playng. Screen brightness You can adjust the screen brghtness to sut dfferent lghtng condtons. To change the brghtness of the screen:

The IS9181 now attempts to connect to your wreless network (ths could take up to 1 mnute). Once connected, the menu screen appears and the IS9181 s ready to use. NOTES:
If the IS9181 cannot find the network in one minute, an error message appears. The password for the wreless network s dfferent than the password for the router configuration utility. Passwords are case-senstve. If captal letters or symbols are used, select CAPS or SYMBOLS to show a lst of characters. Select SPACE to nsert a blank space. Press BACK to return to the prevous screen. Select CANCEL to go to the screen wth the current settngs for the wreless network. 16 Menu Clock The clock s set to 12:00 AM by default. You can choose to set the clock manually or to have t automatcally set by the Internet. To set the clock to be automatcally set by the Internet:

The new language wll take about one mnute to load. All other actvtes wll be closed automatcally before a language s loaded. Software update (only available on some models) The IS9181 wll automatcally check for software updates on a regular bass. If you are lstenng to Internet rado on My Musc and the scheduled tme arrves, the update wll not occur. After new software has been downloaded, the for nstallaton. To nstall new software:

Rebootng the IS9181 (removng the power for 10 seconds) wll also trgger the new software to nstall. 20 Menu Product ID Ths screen dsplays the product nformaton, such as ts MAC address, assigned IP address, web code, and software (firmware) version. You need to know the web code of the IS9181 when addng a new rado staton to the IS9181 through the VTech webste (see page 24). To vew the Product ID:

You can search for and play Internet rado statons by browsng through the avalable categores. You may also search for rado statons usng the VTech webste (see page 24). Use this website when you are unable to find a radio staton on the IS9181, you want more search optons, and when you want the convenence of a computer screen for vewng all the staton choces. NOTE:
Before you create an onlne account, make sure that you play an nternet rado from the IS9181 so t can synchronze wth the network. If you have not added any statons from the VTech webste and you try to access My Stations, you wll see the followng message:
Stations list is empty. To add your own statons, vst www vtechphones com/IS9181. Once you create your onlne account you can:
Search by the station name (Charlie) or call letters (KYCH). Browse the lst of statons by: genre, locaton, language, and most popular. Add stations by URL if you know the URL of a specific station. Search for Internet rado statons onlne.

Your computer must be on for the IS9181 to see and play your music files. The IS9181 only supports the following formats of music files:
MP3 WMA Real audo (only RA, RM, and RMVB) AAC (only MP4 and M4A) If you use a Wndows operatng system go to the next page. If you use a Mac operatng system go to page 44. NOTE:

If you would like to access music files on multiple computers you will need to create the same user account wth the same password on each computer. 1. 3.
