Viewing Previous Routes and Destinations Before you can use this feature, you must enable the travel history feature (Device and Privacy Settings, page 20). You can view your previous routes and places you have stopped on the map. Select Apps > Where I've Been. dzl Settings Map and Vehicle Settings Select Settings > Map & Vehicle. Vehicle: Sets the vehicle icon that represents your position on the map. Driving Map View: Sets the perspective on the map. Map Detail: Sets the level of detail on the map. More detail may cause the map to draw slower. Map Theme: Changes the color of the map data. Map Tools: Sets the shortcuts that appear in the map tools menu. Map Layers: Sets the data that appears on the map page
(Customizing the Map Layers, page 10). Auto Zoom: Automatically selects the zoom level for optimal use of your map. When disabled, you must zoom in or out manually. myMaps: Sets which installed maps the device uses. Enabling Maps You can enable map products installed on your device. TIP: To purchase additional map products, go to http://buy.garmin.com. 1 Select Settings > Map & Vehicle > myMaps. 2 Select a map. Navigation Settings Select Settings > Navigation. Route Preview: Shows a preview of the major roads in your route when you start navigation. Calculation Mode: Sets the route calculation method. Break Planning: Shows suggested break times based on your drive time. Avoidances: Sets road features to avoid on a route. Custom Avoidances: Allows you to avoid specific roads or areas. Toll Roads: Sets preferences for avoiding toll roads. Tolls and Fees: Sets preferences for avoiding toll roads and toll stickers. NOTE: This feature is not available in all areas. Environmental Zones: Sets the avoidance preferences for areas with environmental or emissions restrictions that may apply to your vehicle. Restricted Mode: Disables all functions that require significant operator attention. GPS Simulator: Stops the device from receiving a GPS signal, and saves battery power. Calculation Mode Settings Select Settings > Navigation > Calculation Mode. The route calculation is based on road speeds and vehicle acceleration data for a given route. Faster Time: Calculates routes that are faster to drive but can be longer in distance. Shorter Distance: Calculates routes that are shorter in distance but can take more time to drive. Off Road: Calculates a direct line from your location to your destination. Setting a Simulated Location If you are indoors or not receiving satellite signals, you can use the GPS simulator to plan routes from a simulated location. 1 Select Settings > Navigation > GPS Simulator. 2 From the main menu, select View Map. 3 Tap the map twice to select an area. The address of the location appears at the bottom of the screen. 4 Select the location description. 5 Select Set Location. Wireless Network Settings The wireless network settings allow you to manage WiFi networks, paired Bluetooth devices, and Bluetooth features. Select Settings > Wireless Networks. Wireless Networks: Enables Bluetooth wireless technology. Paired Device Name: The names of paired Bluetooth devices appear in the menu. You can select a device name to change Bluetooth feature settings for that device. Search for Devices: Searches for nearby Bluetooth devices. Friendly Name: Allows you to enter a friendly name that identifies your device on other devices with Bluetooth wireless technology. Wi-Fi: Enables the WiFi radio. Saved Networks: Allows you to edit or remove saved networks. Search for Networks: Searches for nearby WiFi networks
(Connecting to a WiFi Network, page 21). Driver Assistance Settings Select Settings > Driver Assistance. Audible Driver Alerts: Enables an audible alert for each type of driver alert (Driver Awareness Features and Alerts, page 2). Fatigue Warning: Alerts you when you have been driving for a long period without a break. Proximity Alerts: Alerts you when you are near custom points of interest or red light cameras. NOTE: You must have custom points of interest (POIs) loaded for proximity points alerts to display. This feature is not available in all areas. Backup Camera Settings The backup camera settings allow you to manage paired Garmin backup cameras and camera settings. This menu appears on your navigation device only when the device is connected to a wireless camera receiver cable. See the owner's manual for your backup camera for detailed information about pairing cameras and camera settings. Go to garmin.com
/backupcamera to purchase a Garmin backup camera. Select Settings > Backup Camera, and select a paired camera. Unpair: Removes the paired camera. You must pair the camera again before you can view it using this device and cable. Rename: Allows you to rename the paired camera. Guidance Lines: Shows or hides guidance lines and allows you to adjust the position of the guidance lines. Display Settings Select Settings > Display. dzl Settings 19 NOTE: If a map update is too large for the internal storage of the device, the software may prompt you to install a microSD card in your device to add storage space (Installing a Memory Card for Maps and Data, page 23). Removing the Mount from the Suction Cup 1 Turn the device mount to the right or left. 2 Apply pressure until the socket on the mount releases the ball on the suction cup. Removing the Suction Cup from the Windshield 1 Flip the lever on the suction cup toward you. 2 Pull the tab on the suction cup toward you. Changing the Fuse in the Vehicle Power Cable NOTICE When replacing the fuse, do not lose any of the small pieces and make sure they are put back in the proper position. The vehicle power cable does not work unless it is assembled correctly. If your device does not charge in your vehicle, you may need to replace the fuse located at the tip of the vehicle adapter. 1 Rotate the end piece counter clockwise to unlock it. TIP: You may need to use a coin to remove the end piece. 2 Remove the end piece, the silver tip , and the fuse . 3 Insert a new fast-blow fuse that has the same current, such as 1 A or 2 A. 4 Place the silver tip in the end piece. 5 Push in the end piece and rotate it clockwise to lock it back into the vehicle power cable . Troubleshooting The suction cup will not stay on my windshield 1 Clean the suction cup and windshield with rubbing alcohol. 2 Dry with a clean, dry cloth. 3 Mount the suction cup (Mounting and Powering the dzl Device in Your Vehicle, page 1). My device is not acquiring satellite signals Verify the GPS simulator is turned off (Navigation Settings, page 19). Take your device out of parking garages and away from tall buildings and trees. Remain stationary for several minutes. The device does not charge in my vehicle Check the fuse in the vehicle power cable (Changing the Fuse in the Vehicle Power Cable, page 22). Verify the vehicle is turned on and is supplying power to the power outlet. Verify the interior temperature of the vehicle is within the charging temperature range indicated in the specifications. Verify the fuse is not broken in the vehicle power outlet. My battery does not stay charged for very long Decrease the screen brightness (Display Settings, page 19). Shorten the display timeout (Display Settings, page 19). The Garmin Express software downloads and installs the updates onto your device. Map updates are very large, and this process may take a long time on slower Internet connections. Device Care NOTICE Avoid dropping your device. Do not store the device where prolonged exposure to extreme temperatures can occur, because it can cause permanent damage. Never use a hard or sharp object to operate the touchscreen, or damage may result. Do not expose the device to water. Cleaning the Outer Casing NOTICE Avoid chemical cleaners and solvents that can damage plastic components. 1 Clean the outer casing of the device (not the touchscreen) using a cloth dampened with a mild detergent solution. 2 Wipe the device dry. Cleaning the Touchscreen 1 Use a soft, clean, lint-free cloth. 2 If necessary, lightly dampen the cloth with water. 3 If using a dampened cloth, turn off the device and disconnect the device from power. 4 Gently wipe the screen with the cloth. Avoiding Theft Remove the device and mount from sight when not in use. Remove the residue left on the windshield by the suction cup. Do not keep your unit in the glove compartment. Register your device using the Garmin Express software
(garmin.com/express). Resetting the Device You can reset your device if it stops functioning. Hold the power key for 12 seconds. Vehicle Installation Warnings When installing the device in a vehicle, do not place the device where it obstructs the drivers view of the road or interferes with vehicle operating controls, such as the steering wheel, foot pedals, or transmission levers. Do not place unsecured on the vehicle dashboard . Do not place the device in front of or above any airbag . The windshield mount may not stay attached to the windshield in all circumstances. Do not place the mount where it will become a distraction if it should become detached. Keep your windshield clean to help ensure that the mount stays on the windshield. Street Navigation Warnings If your Garmin device accepts street maps and suggests routes that follow roads, follow these guidelines to ensure safe on-road navigation. Always use your best judgment, and operate the vehicle in a safe manner. Do not become distracted by the device while driving, and always be fully aware of all driving conditions. Minimize the amount of time spent viewing the device screen while driving. 2 Do not input destinations, change settings, or access any functions requiring prolonged use of the device controls while driving. Pull over in a safe and legal manner before attempting such operations. When navigating, carefully compare information displayed on the device to all available navigation sources, including road signs, road closures, road conditions, traffic congestion, weather conditions, and other factors that may affect safety while driving. For safety, always resolve any discrepancies before continuing navigation, and defer to posted signs and conditions. The device is designed to provide route suggestions. It is not a replacement for driver attentiveness and good judgement. Do not follow route suggestions if they suggest an illegal maneuver or would place the vehicle in an unsafe situation. Battery Warnings A lithium-ion battery can be used in this device. If these guidelines are not followed, batteries may experience a shortened life span or may present a risk of damage to the device, fire, chemical burn, electrolyte leak, and/or injury. Do not disassemble, modify, remanufacture, puncture or damage the device or batteries. Do not remove or attempt to remove the non-user-replaceable battery. Windshield Mounting Legal Restrictions Before using the device on your windshield, check the state and local laws and ordinances where you drive. Some state laws prohibit or restrict the placement of objects on the windshield of a motor vehicle. Battery Notices Do not immerse or expose the device or batteries to water or other liquids. Do not leave the device exposed to a heat source or in a high-temperature location, such as in the sun in an unattended vehicle. To prevent the possibility of damage, remove the device from the vehicle or store it out of direct sunlight, such as in the glove box. Do not operate the device outside of the following temperature range: from
-20 to 55C (from -4 to 131F). When storing the device for an extended time period, store within the following temperature range: from 0 to 25C (from 32 to 77F). Do not use a power and/or data cable that is not approved or supplied by Garmin. Contact your local waste disposal department to dispose of the device/
batteries in accordance with applicable local laws and regulations. Speed Limit Notice The speed limit feature is for information only and does not replace the drivers responsibility to abide by all posted speed limit signs and to use safe driving judgment at all times. Garmin will not be responsible for any traffic fines or citations that you may receive for failing to follow all applicable traffic laws and signs. Informations sur les donnes cartographiques Les donnes de Garmin proviennent la fois de sources publiques et prives. La quasi-totalit des sources de donnes contient une part d'informations inexactes ou incompltes. Dans certains pays, des informations cartographiques compltes et exactes sont soit indisponibles, soit proposes un cot prohibitif. Puede que el soporte del parabrisas no se quede fijo en todas las situaciones. No coloques el soporte donde pueda suponer una distraccin si se suelta. Mantn el parabrisas limpio para que el soporte permanezca fijo. 10 Avisos sobre la navegacin en calles Si tu dispositivo Garmin admite callejeros y sugiere rutas por carretera, sigue estas directrices para garantizar una navegacin segura en carretera. Usa siempre tu mejor criterio y conduce el vehculo de forma segura. No dejes que el dispositivo te distraiga mientras conduces. Presta siempre una atencin total a todas las condiciones de conduccin. Reduce el tiempo que empleas en visualizar la pantalla del dispositivo mientras conduces. No introduzcas destinos, cambies configuraciones ni accedas a ninguna funcin que requiera un uso prolongado de los controles del dispositivo mientras conduces. Detn el vehculo de forma segura y en un lugar permitido antes de efectuar dichas operaciones. Al navegar, compara atentamente la informacin que aparece en el dispositivo con todas las fuentes de navegacin disponibles, como las seales de trfico, las carreteras cortadas, las condiciones meteorolgicas y de la carretera, los atascos y dems factores que puedan afectar a la seguridad mientras se conduce. Para tu seguridad, resuelve siempre cualquier discrepancia antes de continuar con la navegacin y presta atencin a las seales y a las condiciones existentes. El dispositivo se ha diseado para proporcionarte sugerencias para tu ruta. No es un sustituto de la atencin y el criterio del conductor. No sigas las sugerencias de rutas si indican una maniobra ilegal o si implican que el vehculo quede en una posicin no segura. Advertencias sobre la pila/batera En este dispositivo se puede utilizar una pila de in-litio. Si no se siguen estas indicaciones, puede reducirse el ciclo vital de las pilas o se pueden producir riesgos de daos al dispositivo, fuego, quemaduras qumicas, fuga de electrolitos y heridas. No desmontes, modifiques, reacondiciones, perfores ni daes el dispositivo o las pilas. No retires ni intentes retirar la batera no sustituible por el usuario. No expongas el dispositivo o la batera al fuego, explosiones u otros riesgos. Aviso sobre imanes Tanto el dispositivo como su soporte pueden contener imanes. En determinadas circunstancias, los imanes pueden provocar interferencias con algunos dispositivos mdicos internos como marcapasos o bombas de insulina. No utilices ningn cable de datos o de alimentacin que Garmin no haya aprobado o suministrado. Ponte en contacto con el servicio local de recogida de basura para desechar el dispositivo o la pila de forma que cumpla todas las leyes y normativas locales aplicables. Notificacin sobre el lmite de velocidad La funcin de lmite de velocidad es slo informativa y no sustituye la responsabilidad del conductor de respetar todas las seales de limitacin de velocidad y de mantener un criterio de conduccin segura en todo momento. Garmin no se har responsable de ninguna multa o citacin de trfico que puedas recibir por no obedecer todas las seales y normas de trfico aplicables. ESTA GARANTA LIMITADA PROPORCIONA DERECHOS LEGALES ESPECFICOS AL USUARIO, QUIEN PODR TENER OTROS DERECHOS LEGALES QUE PUEDEN VARIAR SEGN LA REGIN Y EL PAS. Los dispositivos reparados o sustituidos tienen una garanta de 90 das. Si la unidad enviada est cubierta por la garanta original, la nueva garanta es de 90 das o hasta el final del periodo de garanta original de un ao, siendo aplicable el periodo de mayor duracin. Antes de solicitar el servicio de garanta, el usuario deber acceder a los recursos de ayuda en lnea disponibles en support.garmin.com y consultarlos. Si el dispositivo sigue sin funcionar correctamente despus de hacer uso de estos recursos, se deber contactar con un centro de servicio autorizado de Garmin del pas donde se realiz la compra, o bien seguir las instrucciones disponibles en support.garmin.com para obtener servicio de garanta. Si el usuario se encuentra en Estados Unidos, tambin puede llamar al 1-800-800-1020. Si se desea solicitar el servicio de garanta en un pas distinto de donde se realiz la compra, Garmin no puede garantizar que las piezas y los productos necesarios para reparar o sustituir el producto estn disponibles debido a las diferencias en las ofertas de productos y los estndares, leyes y normativas de aplicacin. En ese caso, Garmin puede, a su entera discrecin y segn las leyes aplicables, reparar o sustituir el producto con productos y piezas de Garmin equiparables, o solicitar al usuario que enve su producto a un centro de servicio autorizado de Garmin del pas donde se realiz la compra o un centro de servicio autorizado de Garmin de otro pas que pueda realizar el mantenimiento de su producto, en cuyo caso el usuario ser responsable de cumplir con todas las leyes y normativas de importacin y exportacin, as como de realizar el pago de todos los impuestos de aduanas, IVA, gastos de envo y otros impuestos y gastos asociados. En algunos casos, es posible que Garmin y sus distribuidores no puedan realizar el mantenimiento del producto del usuario en un pas distinto de donde se realiz la compra, o devolver un producto reparado o sustituido en tal pas debido a los estndares, leyes o normativas vigentes en el mismo.
