Troubleshooting My video recordings are blurry Clean the camera lens (Cleaning the Camera Lens, page66). Clean the windshield in front of the camera. Verify the area of the windshield in front of the camera is cleared by the windshield wipers, and move the device, if necessary. Troubleshooting 67 My memory card has degraded and needs to be replaced All microSD memory cards wear out after they are overwritten a large number of times. Periodically formatting the card can extend the useful life and improve performance. Because the dash camera records continuously, you may need to replace the memory card periodically. Your device detects memory card errors automatically and alerts you when it is time to format or replace your memory card. You can take these actions to help extend the useful life of the memory card. Format the memory card at least one time every six months. If the device displays a memory card error alert, first try formatting the memory card and then, if necessary, replace the memory card. Turn off the device when your vehicle is not in use. If your device is not connected to an ignition-switched vehicle power outlet, you should turn off the device when your vehicle is not in use to prevent the dash camera from recording unneeded footage. Use a memory card with a higher storage capacity. Because higher-capacity memory cards are overwritten less frequently, they usually last longer. Use a high-quality memory card with a speed rating of class 10 or higher. Purchase your replacement memory card from a high-quality manufacturer and a reputable vendor. My video recordings are choppy or incomplete For the best camera and video results, use a high-quality memory card with a speed rating of class 10 or higher. A slower memory card may not record video quickly enough. If you are viewing videos on your smartphone using a wireless connection to the camera, try viewing them in another location with less wireless interference, or try transferring videos to the smartphone. Transfer important recordings to a computer or smartphone, and format the memory card. If the device displays a memory card error alert, first try formatting the memory card and then, if necessary, replace the memory card. Update your device to the latest software (Map and Software Updates, page62). The suction cup will not stay on my windshield 1 Clean the suction cup and windshield with rubbing alcohol. 2 Dry with a clean, dry cloth. 3 Mount the suction cup (Mounting Considerations, page2). Garmin International, Inc. 1200 East 151st Street Olathe, KS 66062 Re: Confidentiality for submittal information regarding FCC ID: IPH-04450 Product: Transmitter operated under 47CFR Section 15C Dear Sirs:
Garmin International, Inc. requests that the material in the Block Diagram, Operational Description, Schematics, and Tune up Procedure be withheld from public disclosure pursuant to Sections 0.457 and 0.459 of the Commissions Rules following grant of the application. In support of this request, Garmin International, Inc. submits the following information. CONFIDENTIAL FILES A04450 Conf BlkDia.pdf A04450 Conf OpDes.pdf A04450 Conf Schem.pdf A04450 Conf TunPro.pdf 1. Identification of the specific information for which confidential treatment is sought:
The materials set forth in the Block Diagram, Operational Description, Schematics, and Tune up Procedure which are segregated, from the non-confidential exhibits of the application, are those for which confidentiality is sought. 2. Identification of the Commission proceeding in which the information was submitted or a description of the circumstances giving rise to the submission:
The proceeding is that involving the application for equipment authorization (certification) under FCC ID: IPH-04450 3. Explanation of the degree to which the information is commercial or financial, or contains a trade secret or is privileged:
This material includes a detailed Block Diagram, Operational Description, Schematics, and Tune up Procedure. As such, this material is treated as highly confidential business information. File: A04450 Confidential Request Letter Page 1 of 2 4. Explanation of the degree to which the information concerns a service that is subject to competition:
The material for which confidentiality is sought is employed in the design and manufacture of this transmitting equipment that is offered on a highly competitive basis. Customers for this equipment have a variety of competing sources. 5. Explanation of how disclosure of the information could result in substantial competitive harm:
Disclosure would, in effect, give away the fruits of the labors of Garmin International, Inc.s engineering personnel, who have designed the equipment and the manufacturing process. Disclosure would also offer competitors additional unwarranted insight into the state of the product development, thereby allowing competitors an advantage, not available to Garmin International, Inc. 6. Identification of any measures taken by the submitting party to prevent unauthorized disclosure:
The information for which confidential treatment is sought is kept confidential by Garmin International, Inc. and not made available to third parties except pursuant to non-disclosure agreements. 7. Identification of whether the information is available to the public and the extent of any previous disclosure of the information to third parties:
To the knowledge of those preparing this application, the information has not been disclosed publicly heretofore. While the general theory of operation of this equipment has been the subject of numerous disclosures in industry the protection sought is narrowly drawn as provided in regulations. 8. Justification of the period during which the submitting party asserts that the material should not be available for public disclosure:
This material should not be disclosed for at least 25 years. While improvements in design are made relatively frequently, disclosure of the design information would lead to insights into both design and manufacturing techniques that could have an adverse competitive effect for many years to come. As such, it is important that the design not be made available to unauthorized persons who might attempt to use knowledge of the design to compromise the applications for which the equipment will be employed.
